The onion rings are like no other: they have this thick, fluffy batter and crispy exterior that I love. Dip 'em in the gravy for a truly exceptional experience. This is my favourite thing about Burger Shack.
You can split a burger easily (if you can restrain yourself) and are a cut above the chains. Nothing crazy, nice and simple.
Get a shake and fries for a classic combo. The fries are also great with a classic vinegar and salt combo if you're more traditional.
The souvlaki is delicious and has a great grilled, marinated flavour. Dip it in their accompanying creamy sauce (like a tzatziki but no cucumber?) for extra decadence. If you get it with the salad with the souvlaki, it's best to have the dressing on the side or it can get goopy.
Atmosphere is down-to-earth old-school. Plenty of seating, easy to take out. Don't forget cash, unless you're okay using the available ATM.
A good greasy spoon- burgers, chicken deep fried! Friendly staff.
Fries get really hard as the get cold.
Everything else is exactly what you'd expect from a greasy spoon!

The best thing on this menu is the Home Burger, made fresh not frozen. I love their banquet burger, which is a Home Burger with cheese and bacon.
The people who work there are very friendly, they make you feel right at home.
The late-night hours are also appreciated.
Amazing Burgers and Shakes at this place perfect for lunch or a late night meal after a night out.. Helps that its near the Yonge and Eglinton intersection
I have passed Burger Shack for years and years, but today I had an opportunity to stop in for dinner and try it out. I ordered their 6 oz Home Burger with Swiss cheese, and onion rings. There were several people who had placed their order ahead of me, so I had to wait a few minutes for my food.
The burger was fairly good, much better than fast food burgers for sure. Based on my experience, it is comparable to many mid-level burger joints in town. The onion rings are a bit different than others. I believe they used a cornmeal batter. The taste and texture of the batter was similar to a corn dog that you might get at a carnival. The batter almost hid the taste of the onion. I didn't mind that, but it was different.
Really Old School burger joint that also offers souvlaki sandwiches & subs. They have lots of burger configuration but ultimately you can pick what you want in it (Harvey's Style). The patty is really large and thin with a nice char flavor but a bit overcooked sometimes. French fries and onion rings are pretty solid. Would come back for sure.
Very good. Working in the uptown has it's perks. Namely I can eat my way around the neighbourhood and report back to all you sexy urbanspooners. So one Friday AM a few weeks ago I made the dummy mistake of misreading my schedule showing up early to work--an hour and a half early. My boss just laughed at me, did the once over and gave me some sage advice. Her words of wisdom?
"Go over to Burger Shack gurl. They make a fabulous hangover breakfast."
This restaurant is just phenomenal. I cannot say enough good things about the burger shack. From the delicious burgers to the breakfast to the warm and lovely staff, this place is out of this world. I have been coming to the shack since childhood and I will continue to come here until the doors close (hopefully that will never happen). The ingredients are all really fresh and top quality, the meat is just about as good as you can find. the prices are completely reasonable for the quality of ingredients. Every time I walk into this place the staff treats you like family. I highly recommend this place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The home burgers, onion rings, French fries and just about everything else are homemade daily and fresh. The fish and chips are one of my favourites in the city. Try it, you won't be sorry.

A Must Do while visiting Toronto.. Oh how I miss the Burger Shack. My last stint in Toronto I ate there every day of the week for 2 months. Its that good.
What can you do with a burger you say, well you can do this. Grilled burgers in their own juices on a well seasoned flat top, and an extensive condiment bar to custom build your juicy burger with, and thee best milkshakes in the known universe. I've tried to replicate their pineapple shakes for years with no luck. Check it out, it looks like a little hole in the wall and it is but its one of the best burger joints in the world.
Best burger by far in north Toronto -- I love the fries too. When behaving myself I go for the souvlaki and salad which is good for fast food. All 3 of the boys love it too!
Went here after seeing the great rating. Didn't dissapointed at all. Homemade Burgers are a great size, super juicy, great flavor. The buns are nice and it's an all around treat. The fries were amazing as well, especially compared to fast food joints. My girlfriend had the onion rings which were also awesome. Better than Apache by far in my opinion. Must try

I love their chicken souvlaki dinner . Served with delicious juicy chunky chicken breast, perfect fries, and refreshing Greek salad. I've been calling in my take order for 4 years. LOVE IT.
It's not really about the food. Yes the Home Burger is a fine burger, but the real appeal of this place, in my mind, is its authenticity. Right down to the people who work there, this is an authentic independent burger joint like many that used to be dotted around Northern Toronto. It reminds me of being a teen with eighties hair eating a steak on a kaiser with fries and gravy.
This is the best gosh darn burger I've EVER had. I also would reccomend a chicken souvlaki on a pita!! This restaurant is sheer quality, not to mention their great b.shack hats and shirts! So goooood!!!!!

Better than most. This is my quick stop for late night burger and fries. Way better than Apache, Johnnys, any of the other usual spots, IMO.

Mmmm. burgers.. Don't bother with anything but the home burger. it's seasoned fresh meat and you can watch it sizzle to your preferred done-ness (even medium-rare) on a griddle that's probably cooked ten thousand burgers. top it off with an order of onion rings if you don't have to move for a while. if you're headed there mid-weekend-day know what you want before you step to the counter, be ready to pay and send someone to snag you a table.
Great environment. The homemade burger is the stuff of legends. Maybe not the best date spot but a delicious burger and fries. They also have a really tasty chicken souvlaki on a bun/pita which is also worth a try
An institution of 42 years says something about this burger joint. I love their onion rings and the home burger is brilliant. A must have are their thick creamy milkshakes.
Burger Shack is a North Toronto legend. Numerous things on the menu here for less than a Five, but their Homemade Banquet Burger might be atop the list.
