Uno holds the Market's reputation of having the largest monster veal and eggplant sandwiches with all the toppings you might want (as pictured), all served by friendly staff. It additionally offers normal portions of delicious pastas with a variety of sauces.
Ok so UNO Mustachio is my regular place for breakfast but believe it or not I've just been having only their coffee there. Something about it has me hooked and when the market is closed on Sundays and Mondays I can't get my usual fix from there. It's the best coffee I've ever had.
The crew are a great bunch and once they know you they know you're order.
This time I decided to try a veal sandwich with cheese and all the toppings. I absolutely loved it. Their marinara sauce is excellent and you can taste the fresh herbs in it. The bread they use is so good you could eat it plain. I bet all their other sandwiches are great. I will surely try their spaghetti and other pasta dishes.
Don't miss out on UNO Mustachio when in the St Lawrence Market as you will be a regular.
If you're having crazy hunger pains, go to Uno Mustachio. I can only finish half of their sandwiches. They pre-made their deep-fried, breaded slices of eggplants, chicken and veal. . It looks like they are stepping up their game. They do pasta now. I usually get their eggplant sandwiches. Oh yes! They also do packaged salads.
On one of my last visits to St. Lawrence, I had to have Mustachios again. This time, I had the veal sandwich and it did not disappoint!. On our way out, I decided to get some treats for the team and these squares looked really yummy. Categories: Dessert, Italian, Sandwich, Veal,
This place has really good authentic Italian sandwiches. The sauce was a little under spiced and the bread was a little hard to bite off, but other than that, the sandwich was delicious and extremely filling.
The veal was crispy and thin but was not stringy at all. The eggplant was also cooked to perfection. The toppings I ordered (cheese, onions and hot peppers) only added to the deliciousness of my sandwich.
The sandwich was HUGE and they were generous with the fillings and the toppings.
For $9, I don't believe you can go wrong here.
I've heard from many this legendary eggplant veal sandwich before but never trekked downtown to try it. Secretly I was skeptical about having a piece of veg, much less an eggplant, on my beloved veal.
Man have I missed out all these YEARS! The eggplant brings moist to the sammie that extra sauce simply can't without making it soggy. The veal itself is meaty, lean, but not chewy or hard to bite off - then breaded thinly to give a flat but LARGE piece of meat that hangs about an inch outside of the bread on one side. It's that big! We ordered it fully loaded with all 4 free toppings, mushrooms, onions, jalapeños, and green peppers. The resulting sandwich was massive (see picture of cross section). The bread itself is fine. Nothing special but it doesn't get in the way of your veal + eggplant enjoyment. If the bread were slightly more crunchy on the outside, this will be the perfect veal sandwich.
Great Sandwich!. We were walking around St. Lawrence Market and decided to stop at Uno Mustachio for lunch. It wasn't too busy as it wasn't the lunch hour yet. There were a few good options to consider however, I settled on the chicken parmesan sandwich. The stall looked well organized with quite a few workers behind the counter. When I ordered the chicken parmesan sandwich, one of the workers took the bun from the top of the counter, put the chicken inside, and slapped some sauce and cheese on it. I was hoping that they would put it in the oven however, they didn't offer to do that. It cost me $9 which I thought was a bit pricey however, it was a great sandwich. I personally wouldn't come back again only because it was too expensive but would recommend it for others who want a great chicken sandwich!
Amazing veal parm. This is now my favorite place to eat when I'm
In Toronto
10/10
This place is fantastic. My wife and I go most Saturdays for an eggplant sandwich on Focaccia bread. The Greek family who runs the place does an awesome job. Best $15 you will spend on two giant sandwiches and two coffees. You should see the line up on Saturdays.
I’m glad that we tried this popular sandwich shop — it was very satisfying. The general taste of it reminded me of eating a really big slice of pizza except that this was exceptionally fulfilling and a little messy to eat. My suggestion to you if you want to try it: take extra napkins! You’ll need it. :)
We bought fish & chips from some place on the upper level but it wasn't that great hence not worth taking a picture. The batter was not crispy at all and just didn't taste that great.
We headed downstairs, and to my delight, Uno Mustachio was opened for lunch! The first time I heard about this place was from Mike's cousin Alan, who eats a lot, and he said that there's always a long line up during the weekdays for lunch. He said that the sandwiches are huge, and that sold me to try out this place. I love Italian sandwiches and can't get enough of them. We picked up a veal sandwich to share among the 3 of us. The sauce was amazing, and I enjoyed my third of the sandwich. Next time, I want to try a meatball sandwich. Those balls look good! I got the godfather sandwich. The portions are huge compared to sandwiches we get in Singapore. Honestly, one half is enough for one person easily. I was travelling with a couple and they were already full from one half. The sandwich I got was the veal one, which was savoury. The meat is slightly tough compared to a regular beef patty but I think that is because I never eaten veal before. Overall, recommend singaporean travellers coming to st lawarence to try this place out and try it with some friends. That way you still have space in your stomach to try the other things in the market as well.
Holy messy huge sandwich! I ordered the “Godfather” which came with one piece of fried chicken and a mountain of fried eggplant and sauce on a bun! Choice of veggie additions and jalapeños.
The sandwich was tasty and enough to share half and you will get your full fix.
Friendly workers were very helpful. This place was recommended by many Toronto YouTubers.
Had chicken&egg plant sandwich, also meatball spaghetti.
The tastes are certainly not exotic, but dwelling on this will make you miss a big point about this eatery.
I believe the essence of the food here is to bring out maximum flavor with limited ingredients. In other words, they make perfect people's food.
I don't think I've had much better meatball spaghetti or any other red sauce spaghetti elsewhere, even in high end restaurants.
The simple, but hearty and satisfying tastes, make this eatery very unforgettable.
came here all the way from chicago just to try the Godfather sandwich! oh man! best sandwich ever! thank you so much to the owner and workers, i was there today 4/16/22 the place was so busy with a line of people, i ordered my sandwich and it was ready in 2 minutes no joke, warm and fresh! worth it every penny.
Have the "Godfather" - chicken parmesan with eggplant on a crispy kaiser topped with optional garnishes such as cheese, fried onions, mushrooms, and hot peppers. Huge portion!
Or for a vegetarian option just order the eggplant sandwich without the cheese.
Location: On the lower level of market at the foot of the stairs. Grab and go. There are tables outside in the upper and lower levels of St. Lawrence Market.
Really tasty…only 1 complaint is I ordered the veal and there was only 1 layer in the sandwich. The sandwich would been awesome with 1 more layer of veal. But overall highly recommended when in the area!
Get the Godfather with everything, load that puppy up!
If you're looking for the best [enter meat here] parmesan sandwich, look no further. You'll have to set rules for yourself to keep you from coming back every day for another. I know I did! The staff (owner?) is awesome and you can taste the love they put into their craft.
I feel like the picture says it all. Veal Parmigiana ($9.75) with mozzarella (+$0.88) plus free toppings (onions, peppers, mushrooms, jalapeños). The flavours come together nicely, the edges of the veal are crispy, and the kaiser bun is soft and fresh. It may look neatly prepared but you’ll need the pile of napkins it comes with. Somehow the sauce finds a way. Enter through the Market Street entrance - it takes you to the lower level; walk inside a bit and Uno Mustachio will be on your right.
