The Duke of York is a special place to get together. It has wonderful atmosphere, fantastic service and the food is great. When I saw Trio of Pork Pulled Yorkies for just $10.99 on the menu, I knew that is what I would be having. Super tender and tasty, loved it. BTW the brunch/breakfast tacos are super messy and the large Caesar salad is quite generous without being too big. I am so glad I got to visit this icon of Toronto that I had heard so much about. I really like this pub. I went here with an old friend to catch up and get some beer.
We tried 5 for $20 apps from the Basket Bites, which is a great deal. We each got one giant pretzel and split some edamame, crunchy nacho cheese sticks and deep fried pickles.
Everything was great. The pretzels were huge and I would go back just for a pretzel and beer after work some time (a pretzel on its own is $5). The pickles were tasty, edamame tasted fresh, and the nacho cheese sticks really surprised me. Think mozzarella stick but instead of regular breading it was like crushed up nachos... So good!
The service was great and this is a cute little place. I'll definitely be going back.
Great Pub. While visiting my cousin in Yorkville, she brought us to this restaurant and it was great. I loved the pulled pork sandwich and quesadillas and the rest of the group I was with also loved their food. Wait staff was very friendly and I will definitely re-visit!
Great pub. Everything was perfect at Duke Of York. From the moment we entered and were met with a cute sexy lady to the hostess that was phenomenal blonde eye candy to the hot curry everything was perfect. We don't have places like these in the Peg for sure. Will be back when in town.
Great food. The one thing I know about the food at the Duke is how good it is. That is why I am surprised that the pub is getting bad reviews. Frankly the food is way way better than it should be. How come? The Duke girls will have us coming back again and again anyway. Those skirts are to die for.
Should have listened to the waitress. Well It's one of those things that always go with your first choice when selecting a meal. I was going with either the Shepard's pie or steak sandwich and I should have gone with the steak. The sweet potato instead of mashed potato just wasn't that great. Although it was OK just not good the gravy was beef powder base and came out slightly warmer than room temp. 1.5 out of 5
Reliable. Been going here for years. The food is cheap but large portions. they have a good variety of drinks. You can get a Moosehead here. Great. The girls are dressed to impress. This isn't your local Swiss Chalet waitress. The hiring manager knows what he is doing he he
Great Pub. While visiting Toronto during the last two weeks a friend recommended this pub and I'm glad she did. The food is really quite good and definitely well above what I think of a typical pub food. Given the quality of the ingredients, the prices are pretty reasonable. They have a nice selection of beers, as I would expect, and also several good wine choices, which I didn't expect.
The service was very good and friendly each time I went and they have a lovely patio in the back. I'll certainly be back when I'm in Toronto again.
I was a bit hungry, so a few of us shared the Nachos at Duke of York, a local U of T bar. They weren't that great because they didn't have a lot of toppings. At least they gave a lot of sour cream and Salsa.
Great food and service here! Very good at getting you in and out quickly if you've got a time constraint (like a set lunch hour). Overall fantastic
The food was delicious and service was fast. We really enjoyed the meal, particularly the chicken which was juicy and tender. The portions were filling and I couldn’t find much to complain about.
Overall a jolly good experience and highly recommended if you’re looking to experience British pub food.
We had a great time at this place today. There is a good selection of food and drinks. It’s located in a quieter street, and has a charming outdoor patio. The burger and greek salad with shrimp that we ordered were perfect.
Nice bar overall with great drinks. They have a large gin selection, and a make your own gin & tonic menu that I enjoyed. However I think it would be better with less ice, as the gin & tonic was a bit too diluted. Due to its popularity, the place tends to be quite packed and crowded.
I should dare to say that I am a frequenter of the Duke of Yorker accompanied with my wife, although this week we are out of the Pubs as to avoid too much beer drinking, we really love the traditional English decorated style house nearby the famous Yorkville community ,everyone enjoyed the the patios in front of the house or behind the house, and the streetside also,we were always drinking beer at the patios in the summer and the autumn, the waiters are really nice.the local craft beers are wonderful,my wife and I were impressed with the fries and the sweet potato fries, it’s a great choice for beers. As a British style pub, you must had tasted the fish and chips of theDuke‘s along with the tasting salad, better than their ancestors in the England, trust me.
What a gem of a place! Food was great. Service was outstanding. We had a whole room to ourselves so we could actually talk during our meal. We felt like royalty. I had the fish and chips which were great. My spouse had a curried potato burger but with no meat. It was outstanding! I forget what it was called but the flavours were magnificent. We will definitely be back. Thank you for helping making a special evening even more special!
Happened upon the outdoor patio by chance as we were visiting the ROM and parked nearby. Best decision for dinner! Service was great, had a gin spritz from the happy hour menu - delicious. We ordered the chicken pot pie and also the fish and chips at the suggestion of the server. Huge portions, food was cooked well. Great atmosphere. Our server was excellent! Will stumble back again this summer for sure:)
Very nice little hidden gem on a quite residential street. Large front and back patio spaces. Typical British pub offering with some modern twists. Not a lot of crafts, but definitely enough for a place like this. There used to be a craft oriented lower lounge on site, but it's closed for now. Hopefully it will reopen soon.
