Review Aviv - Toronto

Great dishes! From the Greek cuisine to Italian pastas, it's all delicious here! They are relatively slow to bring out dishes when you order take out so order in advance. However they are very quick when you order to dine-in. Their staff and service is quite good and accommodating! Haven't had a negative experiences here thus far and would recommend you stop by if you're in the area! Wraps, pastas, they're all good.

Nice area and has a patio space outside for great outdoor lunches. Tasty salads and pitas filled with flavour and the sides are good too. Try the caesar salad and breast chicken. Service and get slow during busy hours

This place is amazing! If you are looking for huge portions and nice ambient, you should definitly check this place out! They serve authentic greek food that is very tasty and everything here is fresh. It is a little bit pricey but portions are huge and they have great customer service. This is the best greek meal in the town!

Amazing meal. Such big portions, friendly service, warm and open atmosphere. Me and my friend shared the pork/chicken souvlaki platter which came with pita, meat, salad, grilled vegetables, and rice for $21 and we were totally full. Our waitress was attentive and sweet and we never felt rushed in our meal. Food is delicious, especially how tender the meat is. Potatoes are flavorful, baked in, not just bland. Definitely worth coming back!

Unfortunately I wanted to like this place but it did not satisfy in any of the categories I look for in a restaurant. Service was subpar, and after seeing the way the staff or owner ( not sure who it was ) treat their delivery people while I waited on my order. It was just wretched! At a time like now Covid19 you’d think the restaurants wouldn’t take it out on the poor delivery people but nope. Just as they expect respect and considerations for their hardships during this time, they did not show the same. This place takes the cake for making their customers uncomfortable. It was highly unprofessional the way they spoke to their peers.... Now onto my food experience, nothing to write home about. Sorry. Food was too dry, sauce seemed to be not too flavourful. I get it, grilled food tends to be drier, but still it should maintain a nice flavour & juiciness to it ! No taste to their items, maybe they didn’t marinate it right? Not sure but it didn’t taste like Greek Food should. Portions were too small for the pricing, Lol If I wanted that portion Jimmy the Greek would of done the job. I deeply regret not making the trek to Greek Town. Please if you want Greek food, good service and not to feel ripped off, Id suggest going elsewhere. Hopefully their food and attitude will improve in the future, as I don’t see myself coming back until thats proven. Its too bad as they’re right around the corner from my house. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 2/10 (2) because they made my food still even with their bad attitudes. ***Ugh the portion is tiny as seen in my photo***

Best Greek restaurant in town. Great menu with lots of variety and the best hummus I've ever had. Better than homemade! Need to try their baklava. To die for :-) Right on Yonge Street just north of Bloor

Spent a wonderful evening at Aviv, celebrating my wedding anniversary. Service was just great, friendly and fun. Robert is fantastic and pays great attention to each and every customer. Lovely wine list and serves the best caesars in town. Thought the prices were very reasonable and worth every penny

Met up with some friends I haven't seen in forever at Aviv for Stop 2 of my Winterlicious adventures. It was very busy! We only waited a few minutes before we were seated by the owner. He was serving, clearing tables and greeting people; he was on top of things! He apologized for the wait even though there wasn't really one long enough to complain about. He had a good sense of humour about it and laughed at my jokes, so he was already winning in my books! ;)

2016/10/22
We were on our way to the Chihuly exhibit on Saturday, and we stopped at Aviv for a late-ish lunch just before 1 pm. It wasn't too busy, so we were promptly seated. Were were given the regular brunch menu as well as today's brunch menu specials.

Except for the $5 Bloody Caesar on the specials menu, we stayed on the regular menu. Although the restaurant cuisine is supposed to be from various countries around the Mediterranean, about half of their brunch menu was fairly typical North American fare.

SWMBO chose the Beef Brisket Hash (braised beef brisket sautéed with baby spinach, caramelized onion, aged cheddar, topped with two fried eggs, sunny side up, soft). It was a fairly large portion, served in a casserole dish. Nice blend of flavours.

I had the Cubana Eggs Benny (braised pulled pork on house made sweet potato biscuits, two poached eggs, Hollandaise sauce, home fries). The pulled pork and the home fries were good. However for me the biscuits were a little bit too thick and dense for eggs Benedict. It was a bit difficult to cut with the soft egg. Tasted good though.

First of all the service is great as Rob is very friendly and accommodating. I miss the old wynn salad with feta, grilled balsamic chicken, avocado, cranberries and mixed greens. But my favourite dishes have to be the Short rib pizza and the gnocchi. The Eggs Benedict for brunch are also delicious. Very cozy place to have some food and drinks with family or friends.

Food was really meh...flat flavour, not hot and tasted like someone who is not a cook nor chef, especially considering that $16 for a small sized pizza. But I would rather go to McDonald's, at least the food is hotter and for the same price of one dish, you'd get a full McMeal. Sorry, believed the glowing reviews on yelp.com and went there but until the most basic cooking issues are corrected, I won't be going there. Also not sure what any of the dishes have to do with Mediterranean either. Top marks to the ever smiling, ever happy greeter (owner?) for good show of friendliness and attentiveness though.

I've never been a fan of Mediterranean food...but what Aviv provided us was much more than good food. The environment was extremely cozy and perfect for a family style meal. Server was on point and definetely helped with our experience. If you're looking for great food, top notch service than this is definetely a place to check out in the Annex.

A great cozy restaurant with a nice atmosphere, great food, and service with a smile. They have really good homemade gnocchi and a large selection of beverages!

Its a great place. The beat salad is amazing, along with their pizzas (I love the one with the pulled pork looking meat/rib). The gnochi is always made perfectly. Rob (The manager, I know his name because he is the most friendliest manager any restaurant can have) is happy is assist you with anything. I think the burgers are pretty decent. One time my friend took a bite of the cheese cake we ordered after promising he was too full to eat, and after the bite, he flipped out! Because it was so light and creamy! It was the best cheese cake I have ever eaten in my life!!! The pumkin pie cheese cake isn't bad either! Overall, the place is down the street from Dupont. And the interior is very friendly!

First time here with a friend and it was great! Located downstairs, this hidden gem offered great food, wine and staff. Our server was so friendly! He was very knowledgeable about the different selections and was always checking in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. If you are looking for a cozy neighborhood restaurant, I would give Aviv a shot. Great prices here as well.

This place is awesome! Food is great and service is spot on. Try the pizza's, one of the city's best. Ask for Robert, he'll take care of you personally.

I liked the location, the interior of the restaurant, and the friendly staff. I really wanted to like this place. But -- the food. Yes, it's inexpensive, but still. I had the brisket hash, which was an utterly uniform bland flavour. My spouse had the grilled cheese, which came highly recommended but (in her words) felt like an "incomplete recipe", constructed unevenly so that lots of the sandwich was just unadorned bread.

There were lots of interesting-looking dishes on the menu, but with lots of other options in this area of town, I can't imagine we'll be back.

Good - margarita pizza, patio.
Bad - food is not very good, just your run of the mill Mediterranean dishes, not exciting, try and
avoid the salads.

I had visited Aviv Restaurant last year for a Yelp event, and there were several dishes at the event that I really enjoyed, one being the pancakes with bananas, so I made a mental note to return with my group (I run a food Meetup group) for brunch in the near future.

I contacted Robert, the manager at Aviv Restaurant over the summer and discussed with him the possibility of hosting a Meetup event at his restaurant. Initially I had made the reservation for 16 people, but the interest for this event was so high, that I increased the reservation to 22 people. Robert was incredibly accommodating and patient with the last minute changes I had to make.

The Good:

1) Robert responded to my messages quickly. He was also very professional and eager to please my guests and accommodate my requests.

2) Most of the food was delicious.

3) Good portions and good value for money.

4) I wanted to order a dish from the regular lunch menu, instead of the brunch menu, and Robert made it happen.

5) The restaurant had a jazz band come in to entertain the guests during brunch.

6) Gave my guests a glass of dessert wine at the end of the meal on the house.

7) My dish did not come with shrimps, only calamari, but received shrimps as an extra treat.

The Not So Good:

1) I had asked Robert if he could make mini pancakes like the ones we had at the Yelp event for my guests (I would pay for it), and he agreed to do it. This never happened.

2) The reason I chose to order the salad from the lunch menu is because I love avocado and calamari. When I received my salad, it had calamari but was missing the avocado.

3) The jazz band was very distracting. My guests and I had to yell at each other in order to carry a conversation.

4) There was one waiter and one waitress, and the waiter did not seem to know what he was doing. He seemed so lost and confused. Even with the coffee refills; seems simple enough, but he had to be reminded to refill our cups many times.

5) The food took about an hour to come out.

All in all, we had a good experience at Aviv and would return if the kinks are ironed out.
