Fantastic food and ambiance. Courteous and friendly staff. This is my third time there after coming to your restaurant before a Tafelmusik concert at St. Paul's Trinity United Church with a friend on two previous occasions. My husband and l came together this time after going to a play at Bathurst and Bloor and we both really enjoyed it!

The best pizza in town! Friendly staff, lots of options, and a very tantalizing gelato case make Famoso one of my favourite restaurants. Happy anniversary! :D

This buzzing establishment at the corner of Bloor and Dalton serves excellent drinks and pizzas. Ordering is a bit unusual in that one walks up to the counter to order after being seated which purportedly speeds the overall serving time. The food is excellent and the servers are friendly. 4 Fromaggi Pizza Bianca

Delicious and authentic pizza, wonderful, caring owner (who doesn't make it known that he's the owner but really takes the time to make sure that you enjoy your stay). Service can be slow at times but the food makes up for it. Nightly drink specials are good too!

From the moment we walked in I felt that the food is good here. Yeah, so what right?
Pleasant server was some assistance with questions we had. Ordered Gorgonzola walnut salad-Very good. Calabrese salad- also very good. Meatballs, same. Custom pizza- so good! Second custom pizza not as much. But that was on me for the combination. Parmesan cheese not very good.
About 72$ for the above.
Waiting area by the WC is nice for unknown reasons. Definitely make this a regular haunt!

Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria is a growing pizza chain from Western Canada, where a handful of locations is opened. Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of being invited to Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria at the Bloor West location. That location opened in 2012, and has since become a popular spot for pizza in the Annex. Famosa is best known for its authentic Neapolitan style cuisine, which makes no apology for their creative menu of fusion pizzas. Dean (the owner) runs two locations with his brother, and he is very passionate about the trade. He explained in details about the journey that they embarked on to bring us this delicate taste of Naples menu that we were able to sample.

Located on Bloor & Spadina, the restaurant features a decently sized dining area with an open concept kitchen. The interior composed of contemporary rustic décor with warm colours, and dark wood floors. They recently launched a new F/W menu with a small selection of new items including Mac & Cheese, Korean BBQ Beef Pizza, and Patate Pancetta Pizza.

We started dinner off with the Fire-Roasted Tomato Bisque - roasted Campania tomato soup topped with feta cheese, and served with flatbread. This was one of the highlights of the evening. The bisque was rich with flavor, as the tomatoes hail from Pompeii, Italy. The body of these tomatoes taste stronger, sweeter, and have less acidity in them due to the growing conditions of the volcanic ash that makes up the significant content of the soil. With some added crushed peppers, and Parmesan cheese, the aroma of the bisque was brought to its greatest. Definitely a must order if you want to warm up from the cold weather.

For the main courses, we decided to try out two of their newest pizza items from their F/W menu. Let’s start with the Patate Pancetta ($16.50) - crème fraîche, rosemary, russet potatoes, fior-di-latte, mozzarella, pancetta, caramelized onions, sea salt, white truffle oil, Grana Padano, lemon wedge, topped with a fried egg. This was a very rich pizza with an assortment of ingredients including pancetta that is cured pork belly with similar properties to both prosciutto and bacon. This particular pizza can be considered  pretty close to a brunch item, as the center was topped off with a fried egg, garnished with a very generous portion of  caramelized onions, and russet potatoes, white truffle oil, and fio-di-latte mozzarella. A wedge of lemon was also provided as a taste only basis.

We ate here before going to a concert. The service was great! We built our own pizza the flavours were very good it was still doughy which was our fault we should have asked for it to be extra Cooked. The atmosphere was warming and it was fun watching them cook in the big pizza oven. The prices were reasonable as well. They had lots of intresting toppings for your pizza overall we'd return.

Favorite pizza joint in the city. Service is fast and friendly, atmosphere is great, not too loud like other pizza joints. Pizzas are awesome. When we finish ours, we usually order an extra to store at home in the freezer.

My friend moved here from Italy 2 years ago and Famoso is one of the only places he will go to for pizza in the city. Service is great and the pizzas are delicious. The wine and beer selection is pretty good and it's a great place for a larger group or a date. The pizzas take some time to cook so be patient!

Good, but not like the original location Edmonton. Clearly a certain amount of pride/attention to detail is lost when you franchise as the same level of enthusiasm for the pizza just isn't there by the staff or cooks. Still good, but felt generic compared to the original ( I ate there twice and both times the same). If the franchise owners read this I highly recommend you spend more time getting your team excited about the pizza and experience.

They have ulped their game since my last visit. Caprese salad was fresh and loved the balsamic reduction. Pizza dough was authentic. Loved the fact our server asked if we liked out basil after the pizza was baked or baked on. Serive is great and great wine list! Would recommend.

Unreal!. My parents and I went here with a Groupon about two weeks ago. I should preface this by saying that I don't use Groupon anymore because the restaurants on offer are overwhelmingly crappy with equally abysmal reviews, but when I saw the awesome Yelp/Urbanspoon reviews for this place, I thought I should give it a try...and I'm glad I did! Over three hours, we consumed 2 bottles of wine, 2 Caesar salads, 1 caprese salad, 3 Vesuvio and 1 Siciliana pizza. Every single bite was unforgettably good (I am salivating over the memory of the sweetness of the San Marzano tomato sauce as we speak). Not to mention how seamlessly perfect the service was. I'm done with Libretto - Famoso offers tastier fare at a far better price. This is my new spot...we've been back since and will be back again very, very soon!

Wonderful lunch at Famoso. With a group of 14, it took nearly 15 minutes for any of us to get food. However, when it did come, it was worth it! I had the pistachio pesto pizzetta with soup as part of their lunch deal. The pizza was hot, crusty and delicious. I started dipping my pizza crusts into the soup--that's how thick and creamy that soup was. I was very happy with the vegetarian options at this restaurant, and I'm excited to go back to try the other pizzas.

This location is definitely always super packed and busy - may want to have reservations before hand!

Conclusion - LOVE THIS PLACE!

Delicious Neapolitan pizza.. I really love the duality of this pizzeria: it has the traditional soft, wet, fold-able neapolitan pizza, but also isn't afraid to innovate and create contemporary variations of neapolitan pizza using unconventional ingredients. Definitely a winner.

Too many great things to mention in one review.. atmosphere, design, salads, gelato, staff to name a few.

Good pizza. It doesn't compare to Pizza Libretto and Pizzeria Defina but it is good none the less and worth stopping by. I ordered the Margherita and have no complaints.

Newbie in the Annex. As an Annex resident, I have been waiting for the area to return to it's former glory of "not just cheap sushi places"! When this place finally opened, it looked like a fun hang out. My husband and I went on the weekend. I am not generally a huge pizza fan, mostly because it's just so overdone now. I did enjoy this place quite a bit though. It was casual yet the wait staff were super attentive. I ordered a Margherita pizza (my 'test' pizza, because if you can't do that well, there can't be much hope for other kinds!) and the hubby ordered a white pizza (olive oil based) with proscuitto and arugula. They were both quite good, the pizzas arrived pretty quickly (90 seconds in the oven will do that I guess) and the overall experience was quite enjoyable. We ended the meal by splitting a scoop of salted caramel gelato...yumm! Will definitely return.

Was in town for meetings from Edmonton. Actually walking around the neighborhood near my hotel and stumbled across Famoso. Having been a very regular customer in Edmonton where the first opened, I stopped in for dinner because I knew I would not be disappointed. No surprise: great dinner. Appy (mozzarella balls) salad (Caesar) pizza (marg) all fresh, tasty, just fast enough. A couple of glasses of reasonably priced wine, an affagato (if you don't know what that is, get in here!!), perfect dinner. Toronto, you have a great product here.... Enjoy!

Best Pizza I've Tried. So I've been to Famoso twice now since they have opened in the Annex. Both times the service, food, and experience were above and beyond expectation. The first night I tried was with my father, brother, and girlfriend, and before even bringing our second pizza, we were informed it "was not to their standards" and were offered free desserts to everyone.
Tonight I went again, and the manager(?) recognized me and offered my friend and I a free beer for coming back. And once again the service and food were amazing.
Will definitely return many times in the future and would highly recommend to anyone.

Authentic Neapolitan Pizza. As an annex native, I have been patiently waiting to see what the old james joyce was turning into. Well It was definitely worth the wait. Delicious pizza's, from the classic margarita to the adventurous san andreas. But don't forget to save room for some delicious gelato, I personally loved the salted caramel.
Will defiantly be returning.

Five of us decided to try Famoso for dinner on a cold Saturday in March.  It is located in the people friendly annex area of Toronto.  I decided to call for a reservation earlier in the day and I am glad I did because this place gets very busy and is very popular in the area. When we arrived we were greeted right away by friendly people that arranged a large booth for the five of us near the back. There is a long open kitchen and an imported pizza oven in plain view as you walk through the restaurant.  These ovens cook pizza quickly and perfectly crisp. We were ushered to our table and the unique ordering process used here was explained by our waitress.  We decided what we wanted for appetizers and mains (pizza) and I took the order to an order counter.  The rest was done by the waitress assigned to our table.  This seemed rather cumbersome, but it worked very well and was very e

Famoso is both a pizzeria and a hang-out spot. It's the first retail location that offers great food and affordable prices with a unique serving style. Whether just in it for appies, a pizza, a glass of wine, gelato or simply coffee and dessert, this unique restaurant offers a unique atmosphere where the customer decides his or her meal plan...not the restaurant.

I can't believe I haven't review here yet.  We go here so often!  It's a really welcoming place, with friendly staff, and a family friendly vibe.  Great pizza, with authentic  tomatoes-from-Italy tomato sauce, nice beer selection and a good wine selection, too!

It's half table service and half counter service.  The nice part about that is you take all the time you want with the menu, and you take it up to the order desk, but everything after that is table side.  This way, no one is ever waiting to order, or rushed to order.  We don't have kids, but I bet this is a reason so many families flock to this place.

Live Jazz Wednesday Nights is a real treat!

Famoso is both a pizzeria and a hang-out spot. It’s the first retail location that offers great food and affordable prices with a unique serving style. Whether just in it for appies, a pizza, a glass of wine, gelato or simply coffee and dessert, this unique little spot with 2 locations in Toronto, Yorkdale Mall and Bloor West, offers that unique atmosphere where the customer decides his or her meal plan…not the restaurant.

So what is that exactly? It simply means you arrive on location, pick a table, and write down your order using the menus and note pad found on it. Then, you head over to the counter and place your order. You can choose to pay at that moment, or start a tab if you feel you might be coming back for more. Once your order is placed, all you then need to do is relax until your order arrives at your table.

When I visited Famoso for their pre-opening night event, my first round consisted of some tasty Prosciutto Wrapped Mozzarella Balls, and of course, an order of a lovely Pinot Noir. The dish looked more like a soup when it arrived, but once I took my first spoon of juicy goodness, the mozzarella balls were very present and took over the dish completely. With the added touch of basil and accompanied with some fresh house-made flat bread, this Famoso experience started off on the right note.

Next up, and in no particular order…the pizettas! At Famoso, the flour and tomatoes used in the pizza are authentic imported ingredients from Italy. The flour used is double zero caputo flour and the interesting part is that water is never added to the dough mix. I know this for a fact as during the event, owner Justin Lussier asked me to help him demonstrate how the pizza is made. Boy, was that fun! Pizzetas are a small, personal-size version of the pizzas. What I love about this concept is that for smaller parties, it allows us to try different flavours. With rossa (red), bianca (white) or new world pizza options; we decided to try one of each! First up, the Funghi Tartufo… Roasted white mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, truffle oil and reggiano parmesan made this pizzetta a great second course.

Following next with the Quattro Fromaggi.A succulent and cheesy preparation of fresh mozzarella, smoked mozzarella, gorgonzola and pecorino romano cheeses. With the added touch of lemon, I named this pizza my favourite at Famoso. My sister, who is always my partner in crime for these events, was a fan of Famoso’s new world pizza…the San Andreas.

This pizza consisted of a base of extra virgin olive oil, garlic, oregano, fresh mozzarella and chili-lime marinated roasted chicken, that is then baked and topped with fresh avocado slices, diced roma tomatoes, diced onion, cilantro, drizzled with light cream and served with a lime wedge. Need I say more?

Up next, and probably the favourite part of my Famoso visit…dessert! Going up to the counter to order it, and also hoping the walk over will help me make room for more; we found ourselves with Famoso’s gelato distributor, innovator and chief idea officer behind all the delicious concoctions at Famoso, Mr. James Boettcher from Fiasco Gelato. The only place where one will be able to find Fiasco’s gelato creations in Toronto, for now, is at any of the two Famoso Pizzerias in the city. The flavours are completely out of this world and so fresh. We had a delicious blend of the burnt sugar banana cioccolato.

The freshness of the gelato was so present, we could smell the bananas when it arrived at our table! Now that is something we have never experienced before. Some other of James’ unconventional gelato flavours included the fior-di-latte, key lime graham cracker and salted caramel. And so our meal at Famoso ends. But before we can say arrivederci to the owners, I am once again reminded of why this place is such a neat and fresh concept to the city…is the freshness and craftsmanship of how things are made, including my goodie thank you bag, a beautiful basil plant. Thank you Famoso!

Hope you’re all settling back in to the first week at work nicely. This week can be tough, still on holiday brain and trying so hard to stick to your resolutions. Hopefully this cocktail can brighten up your week. I had this drink a few weeks ago at Famoso in the Annex. There’s also one at Yorkdale. The pizza was absolutely fantastic. I’m not usually a huge fan of thin-crust pizza but this was so good. The drink I had with it was also delicious. This Vodka Italian Soda is made with San Pellegrino and Vodka (so could be replicated at home). The one I had was blood orange, which I absolutely love but you can get any of the San Pellegrino flavours (lemon, blood orange, orange or grapefruit). They also have peach and raspberry Italian soda you can get it made with. Their drink menu is pretty extensive and all of the drinks sound so delicious. I will definitely be having this another time, and possibly try another flavour (but probably not because I love blood orange so much).

Pizzas are super tasty. Why only 4 stars? Service is slow, after our order we had to wait over an hour to have our pizzas to been served. Mediterranean pizza came without a topping mentioned on their menu which was kalamata olives and l couldn't taste the hummus that supposed to be in. Prices are reasonable for fresh pizza. 12" for $20.
