The most exciting part of a training from work is free food. I was huffing and puffing in excitement when I learned that I can order anything and as much as I want! But of course, I have manners…especially in an up-scale restaurant such as Modus. The price was quite steep at Modus so I had great expectation. The staff was incredibly attentive and entertaining.
Excellent business lunch. Fantastic food, comfortable settings, beautiful design, took clients for lunch all very impressed. Feels like New York restaurant. Well priced but not cheap. Lots of good wines by the glass. Good educated servers, timing the lunch to perfection. Had a excellent fish. I work downtown and travel often to New York, Modus is up there with the top restaurants i know of
Expensive but nice. I like the place and the food...however I admit is a bit expensive, yes the location but let's be reasonable
Modus Serves up a Top Notch Lunch!. Had lunch at Modus yesterday. First off they spared no expense on the interior. Exceptional environment for doing business! Had the octopus salad followed by the scallop dish. Both were top notch. Octopus was as tender as I've ever had. Scallops were perfectly seared. I definitely recommend.
Fantastic. Went for dinner tonight. We didn't have a lot of time so the swift service was appreciated. Definitely will return for a more leisurely paced evening. The room is gorgeous and the open kitchen at the back enhances the experience. Sam, the owner, was a delightful host and Bruce Woods was cooking. His menu is fantastic. My scallops were divine and my husband was thrilled with his duck. This place is a class act. Keep in mind that the front doors are hard to see from the street.

Still a few kinks to be worked out. This place is in the midst of its "soft opening" as they kept telling us. We came across the street because Earls was doing its "we're too busy" thing.
Overall, the food and service was good, and the location will work well for Bay Street.
We were a group of 7. When we walked in, the place was empty and the staff all stared at us. They looked like they had nothing to do. Throughout the lunch, it got busy and more comforatble as the servers started to scurry around.
The following dishes were ordered as mains at lunch - I am repeating what others said as I didn't taste everything:
- ricotta filled ravioli (overly salty but very good otherwise)
- mozzarella-stuffed prime beef meatballs (delicious and spicy)
- pan roasted diver scallops (overly salty but good otherwise)
- pan roasted pickerel (sides were a little too busy)
The dessert was a little disappointing. The server raved about the dessert chef's abilities and how the canoli were so greta, but the shells came out soooo dry and tasteless. The inards were good, very tart. The presentation on everything was nice, and they were generous with bringing out more bread.
I felt that given that it was their soft opening and we were basically guinea pigs, they might have offered us something, say a coffee, or even a ticket for 10% off on our next visit. Nothing...
Final comment: One of our servers had intense B.O. Managers, you MUST tell your servers that they have to wear deo.
Prices are expense-account driven but there is value in the details. The salad is just a standard balsamic but the tagliatelle is sweet and playful. Squid ink pasta hides bellow chunks of tomato and leek that are lathered soft and sweet and in complete equilibrium with the creamy lobster.
Great food, ambience and services. Most of the dishes are delicious, fresh and executed very well. My favorites are the grilled calamari, grilled prawns and saffron risottos with seared scallops. Bread and side dishes are also very decent. Highly recommended for business lunch. Service was very attentive and efficient.
Delicious! The prices are reasonable for the quality and the taste of the food.
Service staff is nice. They have an excellent wine list. Location is right downtown Toronto. It may be hard to find parking around the area.
Went last night with my husband for Valentine's day. Food was great, service was awesome, and the ambiance was fit for the occasion.
Updating my review for a second visit! Still not disappointed, amazing service, lovely staff and delicious pasta. Finally got a peek inside too, this place is beautiful, food is delicious and for me the prices are fair. And yes, I will be back again soon!

Dined here last night with 11 others and were overly pleased with the service and the tasty food in such wide choices. I had the seafood and pasta which was perfectly coated with a tomato and cheese sauce which did not overtaste the seafood. Highly recommend this fine dining establishment.

Wow so happy. Great service and great food. From the bread and seafood appetizers to the pasta and veal, delicious!!!!! Great ambiance too. First time here and definitely not the last.
