Review Koko! Share Bar - Toronto

And in a very unlike me manner, we also didn’t share at the Share Bar. It didn’t stop me from ordering the salmon aburi sushi ($20) to start, the rice adorned with thick cuts of salmon topped with lime aioli. At KOKO, there was just enough of the mayo to take on a hint of smokiness and to add a splash of creaminess without making the sushi greasy. I would have liked some stronger finishing ingredients to create more interest – like the customary jalapeno slice, a dab of chopped olives, or even a sprinkling of green onions. The aburi was good but lacked pizazz. Based on my friend’s recommendation (and plenty of other reviewers), I had to try KOKO’s roasted miso black cod ($36). It’s a solid dish but with a few changes could be even better: including some of the miso sauce on the side for those who want a more flavourful fish or to pour over the steamed rice, removing some of the cod’s bones to make it easier to cut into (even the large shards were left behind), and roasting the skin longer so that it becomes crispier. Still, I appreciated the decent sized piece of black cod, which was fresh and flaky and there was a nice variety of vegetables included to create a balanced and healthy meal. If only there was more seasoning on the vegetables that seemed to be merely steamed.

While this place has had rave reviews on here and OpenTable, we were severely disappointed with our experience. The night we went, there was another larger group of 8-10 people who were clearly well fed and catered to. The rest of the tables suffered as a result. Drinks were very slow to come out, had the lemon gin drink and it was very watered down, asked for a beer and it never came, and the torched sushi wasn’t very torched at all. The only highlight is the bossam (pictured), the meats were well seasoned and it was plenty of food for two people. Even then could we have gone to Korean bbq instead? Yes absolutely we could have. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The location is great. Patio is actually right on the road and you are eating beside a one way traffic( lots of very noisey cars and motorcycles in the area, not the restaurant's fault). The food is actually kind of boring, you have the standard Japanese, Korean foods such as sushi, udon, seafood pancake, kalbi. The tempera Udon is really good, and my kids like it. The sashimi and the miso cod are OK at best. The worst dish we had is the seafood pancake. Usually people either look for fluffness or crispness in Korean pancakes, I appreciate both. However, the one here manage to be neither. I think the pancake was made a bit too thick and it was also undercooked because the green onions are very raw, also i was not aware that we have a seafood shortage. 😅 Service is pretty good considering everyone was busy. However when paying by card, they just punched in the tip and taped my card without asking. It's not like they put too much, a modest 15%, I'd probably go with 18 or 20 myself, but it's kind odd that they just did it without asking.

Amazing food, service, and ambience. We ordered 5 different things and each one was better than anything we ever had. 10/10 recommend the bibimbap and this restaurant as a whole.

I have not been inside. Have a good time sitting in the shade on the open terrace . Ordered pancake, sushi and nigiri. All food was delicious! Nice serving as well. A quiet elegant place. Definitely recommend.

Came here for lunch on the patio. The service was good and the food was pretty good too. The price of food is way too high for what it's worth but that's what you get in Yorkville. Probably worth going to Korean town for the same quality food at a better price.

It is very pricy for the quality and quantity of the food. While my husband enjoyed his beef dish, my teriyaki chicken was very underwhelming and absolutely not worth over $20 bucks. The service is good. But there are just so many other places to go and enjoy Japanese food in the heart of Toronto ,you should skip this one entirely.

Great food selection here. I loved the black cod and the specialty sushi roll that we got! The service was quick and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone going on a date, try to have a good first impression or a special occasion.

I took my girlfriend to KOKO for her birthday. We both had a great time in this lovely environment. I order the black cod, and i had dreams about it afterward!

I recommend this place as the service was quick, the food was great, and the price was fair for Yorkville!

I went to KoKo for the first time for lunch. It had your traditional Japanese fair but also had an interesting Korean twist. The tempura was very good as was the bulgigi beef. The place is not very large but good food.

Terrible Service. The waitress was extremely rude, the food was alright after waiting for over 25 minutes and the décor was nice. Not worth the trip.

Amazing Sushi. One of the best places in the city for Sushi. Also, my wife is a huge fan of the Lobster Bibimbap.

Awesome ribs! Great service! Ask for Frank. The bibimbob w/ chicken was our favorite. Sit at table in window. It's warm.....
Buff Crone
Great fresh fish with unique sauces. Server worked extremely hard with a packed house. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Excellent meal. The waiter working when we went was very helpful. He took the time to explain the menu and many of the dishes on it. He recommended some that he thought were their best. We tried mostly the recommended dishes. I didn't love the salad he recommended but the rest of the dishes were excellent, especially the cod. We really enjoyed the meal.

First off the food was incredible! Best Sushi I've ever had, it was so fresh. Hot pot was perfectly spiced and full of seafood. The servers were very friendly and knowledgable and completed the experience. Definitely making this one of my regular restaurants.

Only open 3 weeks when reviewed. An original concept in Torontto - a Japanese Korean fusion menu and it Is getting a lot of press and interest. Food is very good and tasty. Chopstiicks are the beat I have ever uses aost surgical. The owners are also very nice. A great addition to the Yorkville area. I will be back.

Koko’s menu offers a number of Korean specialties as well as a homage to Japanese sushi. Mum and I both commented on how fresh all the food tasted. All to often Toronto’s “bargain” Japanese and Korean establishments cut corners to please the cheap eats crowd. Koko Share Bar celebrates East Asian cuisine with no compromise to quality or quantity. So dig in.
