This is my first time visiting Fran's and it was a good first impression. According to my wife, this is one of the nicer locations. It is located not too far away from St. Lawrence market in a nice quiet location. I recommend the patio during the summer. It is quiet with a great view of nearby Berczy park. I visited on a Saturday afternoon for brunch (there is no specific brunch menu but there is all day breakfast). It was busy and we did have to wait a few minutes for the hostess to get to us. However she was apologetic and we were seated on the patio quickly.
We were going to order the Big Breakfast but opted for a stack of pancakes (4 in a stack) to share and individual omelettes. It was a bit unexpected that cheese is not included with the omelette and is a separate charge.
The food did take a while but I wouldn't say it was more than a typical wait. Everything came out hot and seemed freshly made, so worth the wait. The omelette was good and the breakfast potatoes were hot and fresh and I liked that they were lightly salted. The highlight for me were the pancakes, they were very tasty. They seem to have their own in house branded syrup and it complemented that pancakes well.
I would recommend giving Fran's a try.
We been coming here mainly for the vegetarian chili soup! It’s my husband’s favorite and he really love how tasty and healthy it is. As for the spaghetti, the pasta is way overcooked, saved only by the fact that the homemade tomato sauce is really good. Servers are fast, friendly and efficient. Desserts are awesome too!
Decent chilly soup, and also veggie chilly option! Their pasta is kind of overcooked but still OK to eat (maybe not if you are Italian). Excellent nachos snacks, attentive service, we are always happy to eat at Fran's!
Came here after watching a show at Meridian Hall since they were open after 11 pm and right across the street. Good food and good service. The place was pretty full but we good our food pretty quick. The chorizo sausage hash tasted awesome and the 2 egg traditional tasted great as well.
I would definitely come here again especially after watching another show at Meridian Hall.
This place is on Front and Yonge and pretty close to where I live. We've been planning to go there for some time. We finally managed to go there for breakfast on Christmas morning.
The place was busy when we got there but we were seated within a few minutes. Our order was taken quite promptly as well. They have an extensive menu and also have all Day breakfast.
We ordered the Big Breakfast (which is something I always order as I'm not able to decide what I want to eat) and the Portobello Benedict which just seemed like something we had to try.
The order came in quite fast. The portions were huge. And everything tasted amazing. I was really happy about the Portobello Benedict. The homefries were another clear winner and we got lots of it.
The place is clean, service is good and it doesn't put a hole in your pocket.
I will definitely be going back there for lunch or dinner or brunch. Must try for folks in downtown.
