I've done my research, and the chocolate chip cookies at Le Gourmand are (hands down) the best in the world.
Their cookies are the best love this place excellent customer service whoever did the hiring hired Angels lol
I have always loved this place! Everything they make is delicious, the cakes and cookies are decadent, and the staff is wonderful!
Amazing as always! We get catering from here month after month and its always so delish. Great job team!!
Best patisserie in downtown Toronto. Highly recommended.
How can the Starbuck's next door even hold its head up in the face of this Wonder? The chocolate banana bread pudding is incredible!
It is like a really special place like from New York cafes!
I always enjoy coming here and seeing familiar faces every time, it's very cozy.
The cafe was really nice and the coffee was delicious
A fine café with adequately well spaced tables where the action is, serving poisonously good espressos to cut through any Business Gordian Knots pronto.
omg.. I love this place.. Its hard to ignore that buttery smell, when you pass by. Pick any of their cake and pastries everything delicious. true french..
I only tried the classic icecream for $3.95 including tax, but it was a 5/5 for me. The cafe is nicely decorated and a good size for catchups. There’s also an option to sit outside on the Main Street!
One of the best in the town! I always crave their cookies and croissants, especially almond croissant. Today I've finally got cafe latte after 5 years!! It was amazing...
A gem of a find in downtown Toronto for breakfast or lunch. A fun little cafe with a great selection of excellent baked goods and sandwiches. Despite a little confusion at the time of ordering it proved to be a really enjoyable breakfast.
Back in the city, last day to explore before we were jumping on another plane. I had a list of coffee shops to visit, but they were all so spread apart and far away that without a car, it would be really hard to hit all of the places. So, instead of going to any of the places I wanted to go to, we went to one that H found… and I was disappointed. It was nestled inside a building, and I think it was basically meant to just serve the offices/galleries within that building. Coffee came from one of those thermos that you press on top to dispense…
It's a great size cafe! Great breakfast and brunch items. Everything seems to be baked in house and has a great early vibe! The food was amazing I had the whole grain bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese it was amazing and I probably could've ate another! Yum! Check out this place if your into bring food for cheap!
Best cookies in Toronto by FAR. Really great coffee too! Would recommend to anyone looking for a treat or even a quick lunch as they have a variety of salads and sandwiches as well.
Wow I was in heaven eating the turkey club and the pancake. For the price it was totally worth! Very filling and fresh will definitely be going back.
Cafeteria-styled place. Order at the counter and take it to eat at a nearby park, or to stay at rickety small tables. Delicious dark hot chocolate--so tasty I get it even in the height of summer. Reliable, tasty sandwiches and hot lunch mains, which unexpectedly tend to frequently include Indian or Sri Lankan options. Desserts are absolutely to die for, in that decadent chocolate overload way. Favourites are chocolate "bomb" cake and monster chocolate chip cookies. Coffee is perfectly fine. Service is uneven--sometimes good, sometimes not; sometimes surly, sometimes not unfriendly.
This place has been on several top picks list for Toronto for its desserts and coffee, so I decided to try a simple chocolate chip cookie. The entire cookie was huge and tasted like an amazing food orgy in my mouth. Kinda reminds me of the types of cookies a grandmother would make when you felt bad about life.
Absolutely recommend
The best chocolate chip cookies! The only thing is that they run out pretty fast, so make sure to learn the cookie schedule!? and take as many as you can.
The Little Red Spoon
+4.5
Okay disclaimer: I have not eaten the actual food here. I came because of all the reviews raving about the amazing chocolate chip cookies. Usually I don't even care for chocolate chip cookies but I had to see for myself what all the hype was about.
So, we went on a busy Saturday around noon and picked up 4 chocolate chip cookies to munch on at home. 4 cookies set us back about $11.
Were the cookies worth the journey there and the 10-15 minute wait in line to get them and the $11? I would say so. They are rather large cookies. Large in size and thickness. You could split one in half and still feel like you had plenty of cookie. Lots of chocolate chips (usually I like less chips in my cookies, but these were good chocolate chips). Kind of crispy on the outside/edges but soft in the middle.
Yeah, I could see myself going back and getting more of these cookies. And trying the other cookies. And trying the food (maybe at a time when it's not super crowded). This place is really cute and would be perfect for a weekend morning coffee date.
Edit: All this thinking about the cookies made me want to eat another one. So I microwaved one for 20 seconds and scooped some cookie dough coconut milk ice cream on it.... Yeah. That was a good idea.
This cozy French esque hangout is trying really hard to be cool and doing a good job. The cafe has just enough hustle and bustle to create ambience but not so much you can't have a quick coffee meeting. I had a chai latte and a croissant both of adequate quality and flavour. Prices are reasonable. Portugese tarts are tasty too.
Came here for brunch on the weekend. Eggs weren't particularly memorable but the bread, oh the bread was crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside. I dream about their bread sometimes. And their coffee. Yum.
It was a really big cookie! When I pried it apart to eat, there was so much chocolate in it that I had chocolatey fingers immediately. I have never had such a thick chocolatey chocolate chip cookie before!
Simply the best cookies. Chocolate chip walnut is the way to go. Made fresh everyday but they run out often bc they are simply delicious. A great Sunday afternoon tea/coffee....with a cookie.
They have the best chocolate chip cookie I have ever had... And I've had a lot! All of their baked goods look delicious and I'd love to try them all but that cookie has my heart! Their coffee is good too. This is a good spot to casually catch up with a friend or just enjoy the spot. It's a really nice Cafe!
I came in for a cuppachino, but immediately sold on the cafe mocha (which is basically a hot chocolate with caffeine) I love my cafe mochas back home, but the Le Gourmand blew me away. The top foam was extremely creamy and thick. To top it off, I had a leaf latte art in my takeaway cup. My first latte art in the city (seems to be a rare thing). They only thing I have against the coffee is its price. It's a bit excessive.
I passed by a while a go with a friend for a brownie. I had a small piece and it wasn't to my preference. I usually like my brownies crispy and cookie on the outside and soft on the inside. The Le Gourmand was soft though out. Still delicious tasting tho.
PS. I'll be back for their Belgium hot chocolate.
best cookies I've ever had, cute unique cafe located in a great area of Toronto !! Definitely recommend it to any one who would prefer a more upscale Cafe !
The chocolate chip cookie was huge, I found it a little too oily but i think that's what makes it gooood. Double shot macchiato was good. Also ordered bread pudding, pear tart and the dense brownie which were all alright. I'd be coming back for sure to try the rest of the pastries!
I had a lovely meeting at Le Gourmand last week! What an awesome place filled with delicious coffee and fabulous treats! The place was bustling with activity and I now know why! Complete with free wifi, who wouldn't want to meet up with a friend here?! I will definitely be back! Thanks Le Gourmand and Pam for a fabulous time!
Cookies are a must!! I tried the macadamia cookie and it was delicious. Any pastry looks really good. The espresso was a sweet medium roast, luckily I ordered a short single shot that turned out to be almost a "double shot".
Next time I will order the hot chocolate, either the nutella or the white chocolate.
The patio outside is very nice, unfortunately is close the the Spadina-Queen intersection so it may be loud
Have been here twice now, ordering the nutella hot chocolate (I've ordered a lot of these recently).
Definitely one of the top ones! Have also tried one of their cookies from a friend who bought one and it's super tasty and soft.
I have fallen in love with everything le gourmand has to offer! Take my advice and order the Italian Nutella hot chocolate (not too sweet but the perfect amount to get the flavour across) and for a sweet treat order the gateau basque or Apple custard tart (literally the yummiest pasties I've had in a long time).
I've been here several times and each time I tell myself that I'm cutting out sweets. And each time, I fall for their cookies and get them anyways. Seriously love their cookies - they're soft, and chewy and so sinfully buttery!
I've had light lunches here before (their sandwiches) but am definitely going to try their salads next. While their hot food is good, nothing beats their cookies in my books.
I have yet to try their brunch but I have heard many good things
OMG Cookies are to die for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do it.. Three words: Chocolate Chip Cookies. Amazing place, cool staff, but snobby queen west customers. Salads and some hot plates are overpriced, but they have great coffee and french pastries, as well as sandwiches. Popular there is the tomato, avocado and harvarti (get it grilled) and my favourite is the roasted veggie on a thin baguette with roasted eggplant, mushroom and pepper slices, brie and a spicy pesto. Again, grill it. So good, and less than $7!
A good variety of sandwiches/salads and daily specials.... And some yummy sweets and pretty decent coffee.
Me likes!
Love the baked treats here. This place closed down a couple of times and re-opened. I am not sure what the story is. But I'm glad that the quality of their food did not change. I'm addicted to their cookies here!
A neighbourhood favourite. Given the choice between Starbucks, Second Cup, Aroma, and the slew of other coffee shops in the Queen West area, Le Gourmand wins out every time.
Exceptional croissants, and great cookies (providing you eat them when they are fresh). I've sampled a few of the sandwiches and they are worth checking out. Most of the items I have tried are made in house and you can taste the difference.
The only downside to Le Gourmand is they have short hours (closing around 6pm). A great place to stop before heading to work.
Good for a cuppa. I stopped in for my AM stimulant fix, and to watch the reconstruction disruption on the Queen-Spadina tram tracks. Ah, the sounds of jackhammers and the whiff of concrete dust in the morning! Le Gourmand made a decent cup of cappucino, not as strong as what you'd get in Italia, but not as burnt as almost everything I've had on the British Columbia/Washington State coast. They have nice pastries too -- I had a small banana tart with shards of filo pastry arranged on top like gigantic cornflakes. I'm not a huge 'nanner fan, but the filling was as sweet as banana cream pie, and it looked so doggone cute in the display case. It appeared as though the other diners were digging Le Gourmand's sandwiches, etc. They have an eye-catching assortment of semi frou-frou gourmet canned and bottled food for sale too. I almost bought one of their Valrhona chocolate bars -- you don't see small examples of the Queen of Chocolates everywhere -- but it was so hot I knew I would have wound up with an expensive puddle of goo before I got back to my hotel.
Too bad the Eglinton one was closed.. I have never been to this location, but I love this cafe. Nice salad and soup for lunch. Brunch is good too. Too bad the Eglinton location was closed. I really miss it.
The last two time I went to La Gourmand , it was too late and they were all sold out :( So this time I decided to head over earlier for lunch cause I must try their to die for cookies that I heard so much about... FINALLY !!! I fully enjoy everything here, from the sandwich to the coffee. I`ll need to come back to try all of their baked goodies (^_^) Roasted Vegetables w/ Spicy Pesto Sandwich Love the flavor here and love how it's served panini style Most of their Sandwiches are $7.95/ea, which is quite pricey for such a small size without any side but trust me you won't regret it since it's so good Smoked Salmon Sandwich We were also surprise at how good their coffee was especially the regular drip one Chocolate Chip Cookies This made my day, it was huge with a crispy outside and a super ooyee gooyee chewy inside ♥♥♥ OMG, Love at first bite ♥♥♥ Best Chocolate Chip Cookies ever ♥♥♥ Heard that their Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies are the best but it wasn't available tha
...It was sweet, moist, chewy and filled with crunchy walnuts and oozing with chocolate. BEST COOKIE EVER !!!!
dre @ Spadina & Richmond: We stopped here for a coffee stop and to pick up a snack for later on in the day. This is the place that Mike got obsessed with coffee. He said this was the best coffee he's ever had. I guess he never paid attention or cared when I used to drink coffee. They have fresh pastries as well, and I recommended everyone to get a cookie. Their cookies are amazing! Very fresh, moist and cake-like. We got chocolate chip, chocolate oatmeal, and peanut butter. Delicious! As I sit here writing this, I can hear thunder rolling in the distance and can feel a cool breeze on my skin. Perfect weather for some tea and cake, I think to myself
It's been far too long since I've brunched at Le Gourmand, but I'm sure glad I made the trip. A perennial classic is their breakfast burrito which is served sans bacon. If you'd like to add some pork to yours, order the breakfast wrap. They both come with scrambled eggs and black beans with a side of fresh guacamole, salsa and sour cream.
Not photographed, but equally as delicious is their chocolate chip and walnut cookies, s must have. They are always fresh and just melt in your mouth. Finally wash it down with their freshly squeezed OJ or one of their amazing coffees.
So good, you will not want to miss out.
Two can easily brunch for under $30!
I like stopping by here on my way to work to grab a coffee and a toasted bagel with cheese. It's basic, cheap, and a good breakfast. I have also had the bagel with smoked salmon and it's so delicious! Obviously it's a more expensive option, but it's super tasty and I'd definitely order it again. The service is pleasant, especially for early in the morning, which is part of the reason I keep returning.
This is THE place for a chocolate chip cookie, if you like chocolate chip cookie steak. Does that make sense? I don't care, just take my money and give me that cookie!
I wouldn't come here for a (mini) bagel w/ cream cheese & medium coffee cuz that's gonna cost you $5.50.
Nutella Hot Chocolate!! Crazy yummy things they serve here. Every morning people lined up at this cafe to get their breakfast essentials. I ordered their awesome Nutella Hot Chocolate everytime. You have to order it extra hot though, it was too warm for my liking on their normal temperature.
Will come back to this cafe to try their wraps and baked goods. I saw some pretty things on display.
Food: 4/5
Ambience: 4/5
Service: 3/5
Price: 3/5
Le Gourmand is one of your cute coffee shops that is a good change from your regular Starbucks and Timmy’s. The ambience of the coffee shop is welcoming and the service is hospitable. Starting all the way from breakfast, they have a lot of options to choose from. I like their coffees, especially their Dark Roast, Cafe Mocha and Cafe Latte. I wish they had their cold coffees as well, but those come out only in the summers. They have great breakfast options and you should definitely try their fruit salad and mixed lentils salad. Also, the breakfast burrito and breakfast wrap are healthy and filling. You could also try their hot chocolate which comes in a variety of options. Le Gourmand is one of my favourite coffee shops in the city and they’ve definitely earned themselves a loyal customer!
Brilliant chocolate chip cookies! I love them! I have
never been to the restaurant but my boyfriend keeps
getting me chocolate chip cookies from there. I have
also tried their smoked salmon sandwich.Loved that
too!
I got the pancetta BLT.. Except, it should really be called PAT for pancetta, arugula and tomatoes. That bread was toasted perfectly. They also melted some brie in there. Yum!
Decent place for coffee and lunch. I find that they charge a little too much for what they’re
offering, but I suppose it’s in keeping with the affluent area in which they’re located.
I got some a chocolate chip cookie for me and a mate and that plus a coffee came to upwards
of $10. It was all great, of course, but still a bit steep for coffee and two cookies.
Le Gourmand is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots on Spadina Avenue. I was first introduced to their amazing, gooey, fresh-from-the-oven chocolate chip and walnut cookies. If you can get one of these right out of the oven you will never look at a cookie the same again. The coffee is also great here. I recently started getting my lunch here too. I don't typically like the quick service options available at lunchtime (I never was a sandwich kind of girl) but Le Gourmand makes delicious, healthy dishes that change daily and taste like your mom made them. Examples of what I've had:-Chick and green apple curry salad-Lamb, tomato, and feta mac n cheese-Open face turkey burger with a homemade corn relish True story: One morning while my boyfriend and I were getting our morning coffee (okay, and one of those epic chocolate chip cookies), a limo pulled up in front of the store and a whole bachelor party got out to have brunch here. It's still not clear whether or not they were starting their day or wrapping things up but we thought it was hilarious a group of macho-looking guys would come to dainty Le Gourmand for a bachelor party. It just goes to show you how awesome the this place really and there's no messing around when it comes to the food!
From the owners of Portland Variety, meet Le Gourmand. Soon I will officially turn into one of their deliciously toasted veggie subs (filled with red peppers, brie, eggplant, pesto and hot sauce). On a serious note, order it extra toasty for an ooey and gooey cheesy effect! The salads are also worth checking out, as well as their home made soups.Everyone boasts about their chocolate chip cookies, they really are that delicious. And their coffee is quite tasty as well! With offices just across the street, this little joint has become the new favorite!Extremely friendly staff, especially the sandwich lady :-) See you tomorrow morning!
Great coffee, great sandwiches, good prices. Service can sometimes be a bit slow, but if I'm not in a hurry I can deal with it. If you haven't had one of their cookies yet, be sure to try the chocolate chip. Share it with a friend if you can, it's huge.
Splendid little cafe in the Fashion District which offers some delicious freshly brewed coffee, a great alternative to any of the standard coffee chains. They also offer freshly made lunch and breakfasts options at very affordable prices. Their baked treats are also nicely make great snacks.
Le Gourmand is one of those neighborhood coffee shops that you'll probably fall in love with after a visit. It's not one of those cafes where you plonk yourself at a table and wait for someone to take your order. You go to the counter and place your order and pay for what you want, and then either sit at one of the few walnut coloured tables, or opt for a takeaway. The place is very nicely done up with different kinds of coffee bags and packets adorning the walls and shelves on the walls, They've got their menu put up on a black board behind the counter where you place your order, and the display counters are always brimming with deliciousness. Always. From croissants to sandwiches, they've got a lot of stuff going, and this is perhaps one of the best places for breakfast and coffee on a work day if you're around Spadina and Queen.I've regularly had the French Roast drip coffee, and along with the coffee, I've also had the breakfast wrap (eggs, tomato, bacon & aged cheddar), the breakfast burrito )with eggs, beans, tomato, cheese & salsa), a Reuben sandwich, and ham & Brie on flaky croissant. For what you pay here, you totally get your money's worth. Overall, it's a great place to grab an early morning brekky if you're in the area.
The service can be slow at times yet efficient. The cookies are giant and soo delicious. Its a sweet spot to hang out alone or with people. I like every thing about this place and go here at least once a week when I am not in a rush.

Tried the Sri Lankan Kothu roti hash today. It's on their weekend breakfast menu. Didn't know what to expect as I thought it would be a roll with eggs and chicken inside, but it turned out to be noodles with eggs and chicken! Needless to say that it tasted great and was just what I wanted for a satisfying breakfast on a saturday morning. I love the coffee and baked items from this place too and go there regularly as it is just round the corner from my office.
The best coffee chain in the entire city. Try their cappuchino, espresso, French roast, and any and every coffee that you can imagine. Also, try their fruit salad (for all my health freak friends) or their carrot raisin muffins. I’ve never tried their breakfast specials, so cannot comment on those. But I shall be back with another review once I try these.
Great spot for a quick bite. Ordered an Americano and the roast beef sandwich, both of which were ready within five minutes. The coffee was good quality, and the sandwich was tasty. The place has a cozy cafe-style interior, with a decent amount of seating, although I imagine the place fills up pretty quick during peak hours. Will definitely head back here to check out more of the menu, as well as the cookies and other baked goodies i’ve heard so much about.
Le Gourmand is a very short walk from the Spadina and Queen intersection(south). It is a great cafe and I have become a regular customer and a fan of their cookies, which in my opinion is a meal in itself , the hot chocolate is an absolute must try and there is a variety of sandwiches to choose from as well. It has an averagely good seating capacity and you would tend to ignore the ambiance due to the large traffic of customers and the long queues which also tends to delay service, apart from that Le Gourmand is a great place to go at any time of the day.
Very nice bakery cafe. Huge selection of large baked goods. They also serve breakfast , lunch and brunch. Unfortunately no wall plugs around to be found, and the wifi isn't so great, so not an ideal place to grab a coffee or bite and work. Their chocolate chip cookies (3$) are huge and really good, as well as their breakfast wraps. I recently tried the brie and prosciutto sandwich (panini heated) which was also amazing. Their brownies also looked really tempting, I think I'll have to try that next time.
I came here on a weekday morning for a meeting. The place seemed fairly busy, with a constant stream of professionals getting their caffeine before work. I had to wait in the lieup for a bit but found a place to sit with ease. The girl behind the counter was not very cheerful or happy, in fact, she seemed quite dead faced and bored at the job. Maybe she was having a bad day, but considering I behaved well with her, she could have reciprocated is all I am saying. Later I found out this place has had a few complaints about the standard of their service. I had the Grilled Cheese and Ham sandwich and a latte. Both were very good. No complaints about the food, but the service has kind of left a bad taste in the mouth. The place is very clean and spacious. I regret not having tried their Chocolate chip Cookies. Everyone seems to be talking about them!
One of my favourite spots in town. Their specialty is perfection, they don’t offer a lot of variety, but everything they have is really good. I have to say that I am not a big fan of cookies, but every time I walk into Le Gourmand, I can’t resist
Nice spacious and clean space with lots of seating inside and outside. The staff were really nice and efficient. Ordered a turkey club that was very good! Loved the bread and the sweet mustard. You could tell it's all high quality ingredients. Enough of that though I know everyone comes for the cookies and maybe I'm just not a cookie person but honestly didn't think they were anything out of this world. They were too sweet for my liking but definitely nice texture with a crispy exterior and soft inside. I just wasn't able to eat half in one sitting so if you don't like super sweet things this may not be for you! Overall good experience, I would come back for the meals!
I was told to try this place for their good croissants and they have the best cookie in the city. I'll flip it around and say the best croissant I've ever tried in the city of Toronto and the cookie was pretty good. I was told everything's made fresh the espresso could use a little improvement. Nice setup good stuff. I ordered everything on ritual was there early to pick it up and I was served we'll definitely go back to try more of the croissants. Didn't take many pictures of the croissants because like I said I went there for the cookies
The best chocolate chip cookies you will find in the city!
They’re big, soft, chewy and full of chocolate chips! The texture is firm but still managed to get that nice softness to each bite and break.
They also have lots of other treats and cafe items like sandwiches and hot foods.
The interior has a nice cozy feel to it and an almost rustic feel with all the wood furnishings.
The lines can be crazy on the weekends, but they also have lots of people working. But don’t be afraid, they have lots of those chocolate chip cookies on hand!
Service was great! Super busy but still had that quick friendly gestures and explanations of certain items!
Definitely another great downtown Toronto spot to check out!
Great job overall!

I was so excited to try this spot, I ate the cookie and then remembered to take a picture (so apologies for the half eaten cookie picture) but it is just as good as the reviews say!!! Awesome chocolate chip cookie! Crunchy edges, chewy gooey middle, oozing great chocolate. I thoroughly enjoyed my $5 cookie! It’s a big cookie though, you can easily share with another person (or don’t! Have a full amazing cookie!).
The best chocolate chip cookies I have ever had. So delicious. The oat and raisins and the peanut butter cookies were nice too. And so many amazing options in desserts and cookies. Would definitely want to come back for brunch!
Cookies. You come here for the cookies. I'm sure everything else is really good too, but I can't speak on that just yet. And it's worth the trip.
I tried both the regular chocolate chip and the white chocolate macadamia nut cookies, and they were both excellent. There hasn't been much about them that hasn't already been said. They're crispy on the outside, but nice and soft on the inside. They're sweet but not overly so, and they'll leave you satisfied.
The store itself can be a bit chaotic at times, especially when it's busy, so leave yourself ample time if you go during heavier hours. Cheers.
Check out @foodpharaoh on Instagram for more food!
Nice coffee shop and bakery with a small pantry section.
They offer a wide range of baked goods and are known for their cookies, which are definitely delicious albeit a little overpriced.
I've had quite a few chocolate chip cookies in my life, in various cities around the world...and this is the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had! Had a slight crisp on the outside, perfectly soft and still gooey in the middle. Just amazing!
