Review Joey Don Mills - Toronto

Big fan of Joey’s Happy Hour menu! It’s every day from 2-5pm for dine in. Make sure to make a reservation just in case cause they can be very busy. The drinks menu for happy hour is not very big but they have Sangria and Bellini which are my go to drinks. For food, the corn guacamole with chips is absolutely delicious! The sliders are good too. You must get the truffle Parmesan fries. Those are great to nibble on with your drinks. The service is really good and quick.

I was here with my coworkers last week, and I enjoyed our dining experience. First off, the waitress for our table did a great job checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Secondly, the food was not bad. I had the California Chicken burger but I couldn't quite taste the spice (spicy mayo) and expected more from it. The portion was good as it also came with a side of fries. Price wise it was on the expensive end for the food and especially the drinks. Entree items ranged from $20-50+ depending on what you ordered. For larger parties there is a 18% automatic gratuity on your bill. Overall, it was a nice experience having dinner here to celebrate with my coworkers.

Great location at the Don Mills shopping center…with happening vibes and an amazing rooftop patio. The food was yummy and our waitress was great. As well as all the other waitresses that made sure our table was cleaned. I gave Joeys 1 star less only cause the ran out of few items we had wanted from the menu. Especially for the weekend. We got there on Sunday around 7pm. They ran out of Corona, roasted corn guacamole & all the burger options. The new Cobb salad was really good. However if you choose the side order of Cobb salad, they don’t give you bacon, egg or the chicken. Like isn’t that the whole point of the Cobb salad.. is the bacon and the boiled egg? We will be back to try the other dishes.

Food were amazingly delicious and we just showed up on Sunday afternoon for brunch without waiting for hours. Lots of space for bar and regular dine in. The atmosphere is fantastic for small gathering and causal dating. But it took a bit longer to get servers' attention and have food ordered on Sunday probably due to the shortage of staffs. Everything could have been perfect if the timelines of preparation for orders are shorter.

Meet my cousin here for his birthday dinner! (He had gone day before for happy hour but had not “capitalized on his order” 😂 So he returned next night with me and I realized ‘capitalized’ meant he only ate amazing apps not dinner! Joey 75 champers to start, followed by their amazing truffle fries as app to our different delectable entrees! The complementary birthday donuts were a great touch! Our server Lulit was personable and professional, she was the perfect topper to our family celebration!

Went to Joey yesterday for the first time and can’t wait to go again, yes the experience was that good! Exceptional food , great service and perfect ambiance ! Our brilliant and exceptional server Shernell made it the best restaurant experience we ever had! Attentive, poised, efficient and the list can go on, she made sure we were comfortable, always checked on us… The dishes were delicious! We had the Szechuan Chicken Lettuce Wrap- the dish was finger licking good even the lettuce was so crisp and fresh , Sushi cone, Herb Crush Salmon(Best dish) - an exceptional dish! The salmon had a melt in the mouth texture, the herbs and the sauce made it intoxicatingly good! This dish came with the mash potatoes but I wanted to try their crispy mash and Shernell made it happen and it was literally the best, Baja fish tacos - both my husband and I never tasted a taco so good! Soft, melt in the mouth feeling, it came with fries that were great.
The finale was when Shernell and another sweet server person surprised us with a molten lava cake with ice cream with happy anniversary plated excellently! And glasses of champagne !!!!! Joey is an experience we will never forget! P.S the drinks were great too I loved the Signature sangria more

My friends and I went here for the first time, and it didn't disappoint us. Servers are nice and friendly. Service was quick, food taste great, we love the pressed salmon.. steak and sushi plate is a good combo.. the drinks were really refreshing.. I'm thankful they have zero alcohol drinks other than pops. I recommend this place..

Our time was delightful!!! The service was very good! We asked steak frites and Bombay butter chicken, both amazing. The cocktail was superb, I ordered New Manhattan.
George Ogie Ogston
The food was excellent It took awhile to get served because of a mix up with servers but! We ended up having Maghen as our server she was outstanding Her attention to detail was bar none! I would recommend this place to anyone

Nice place for food and drink, food taste good especially salad, the waitress in charge my table was the only reason bring the stars down from 5 to 3. We had to wait for long long and extra long time to place our order (its around 2:30pm)

I should say I normally love going to Joey. Unfortunately, my last experience was not good. Actually, that's a bit of an understatement. It was quite a disaster for the first hour and a bit. I think there were 6 of us in our party. While waiting for a table in the dining room, we wanted to have drinks in the lounge area. They were totally disorganized and rude. There isn't enough space here but let's just say I wouldn't go back when they are busy. Once in the dining room, everything was great again. Food and service was top notch as usual.

The food was excellent. We ordered the lobster ravioli & fillet mignon & New yours Steak . The steak was cooked to perfection & the pasta was mouth watering. Excellent service. Highly recommended!
Sandy Jacobs-Bird
No complaints. A bit of a wait for our table but that's to be expected when you are looking for patio seating in the summer. Good service, food fresh, staff friendly.
Melissa McLean
I had the seared tuna salad with extra cilantro and it was mouth watering good! Highly recommend.

Chairs are too high - not comfortable at all. No leg support! Lighting was too dim... Yet it was a nice location. Food hmmm was ok. Chilli Chicken was awesome tho... My herbs crush salmon was delish but I think alcohol or something was in the sauce felt a bit off mid-way thru lol but still good. I'll visit one more time and compare nights maybe... Mad crowded "claustrophobic" a bit.... j/s

Great atmosphere, good food, waitress was very nice and courteous, the only downfall was she forgot our utensils and we had to ask for water, shouldve been the first thing given to us, regardless the restaurant was a very happening place

Always an excellent experience whether dining with friends or my baby. Excellent customer service and food quality with particularly extra attention helping parents dining with babies or young children. Among my favourite location and restaurant.

I was there last night with my wife and 6 of my friends. We were celebrating my wife's birthday. Carolina was our server and she was awesome. Even though it was very busy around 10pm, Carolina took very good care of us, and very polite, patient and always smiling. The food was very good, no complaints. Thank you Carolina and the rest of the staff for making my wife's birthday a great time. See you soon again.

Good fast Friendly Service. One of the best Patios at shops don Mills. 4 Stars Because my friend's Calamari tasted like Califlower. Was Not cooked well.
Jennifer Lindsay
There were 7 of us and we were all happy. I had the ribs. The best ever. Waitress very polite and accommodating. No complaints. Great place

We were here for a team Christmas dinner and were impressed with the wonderful service. Our host came in at just the right time, made sure everyone had a drink at all times and made the best recommendations!

Our appetizers were great and the hummus with crispy pita was quite the hit. Everyone's mains looked good, and my Korean chili tofu bowl was delicious. They had only 3 options for dessert and we ordered all three!! The apple pie, molten chocolate cake and donuts were all delicious.

Great food, even better ambience and service. Definitely recommended.

Excellent food, incredible staff. Came in one evening after work, have since then become a regular. Feeling safe when I go out by myself is a priority and Joey never fails me. Joey Bell Tower has an atmosphere that is unmatched by any other bar downtown. Always consistent. Can't say enough good things about this place. Can't wait to go back.

Joey at Don mills. So far best dinner in Toronto. Like the cost ambience and nice waitresses. Lovely place and always full of people. Seafood is highly recommended.

Joey’s - one of the best. Period.
Love the service, love the food, the atmosphere, the afterwards feeling after having lunch or dinner there. Have been visiting them so many times and they never let you leave upset. Doesn’t matter if I go alone or with friends it’s always a great experience.
Highly recommended. They will make you to come back again and again.

The food is really nice and slick, but I prefer the ambience over here. The service is decent while the staff is friendly and knowledgable. A good place to go to.

Went to Joey Restaurant with my girls at Shops on Don Mills last Friday. The whole place was packed before 7pm (probably due to the Happy Hour promotion that they have from 3pm-6pm). Luckily, we got a table near the window. The restaurant was nice and cozy, and the table we got is probably at one of the best spots in the restaurant. You can see all the TVs playing different sports channels at the bar area, yet you can also see all the commotions happening outside the restaurant.

Everything was great as always, the food, the service, everything, however, I really wish if they bring back the night market curry dip, it was one of my favourite, was so good everyone loved it. But overall experience was prefect. 👏🏼👏🏼

One of my fave places in toronto. The ambience, the food and the drinks are all awesome. A must to come if u ever visit toronto

A must have is the lobster grilled cheese sandwich, the ahiu tuna club, their great assortments of drinks and the apple pie.
Paige Walker
Great food and atmosphere for an affordable price. Visit here regularly and am always satisfied with the service and plates. Big fan of the crispy potatoes
Kassidy
It was alright, not spectacular. Service was slow and our server basically left us alone. The food was overpriced and not amazingly tasting

Joey - not Joey's, is a great spot for a nice bite.

If you're not in the mood for middle eastern, it's nice to go to Joey, which has a cornucopia of choices.
When I came here I ordered a lobster grilled cheese, with a side salad instead of fries, and decided to go light on dessert (for once), and get a latte instead of a tempting, decadent lava cake.

The spring salad was light and delicious. My only wish was it came with a bit of goat cheese to add a new dimension of flavour.

I ordered a grilled cheese with large chunks of lobster and it wasn't oily. I finished it all in record time.
My sister, ordered the lava cake and I was sure to try a little bit. It was delicious and I tried to trick myself into being content with my latte.
The latte was good, and worth it.

Joey always nails it
Michael
Very friendly service here, and they were accommodating for my little one. The fettuccine Alfredo was delicious. I enjoyed the addition of greens, which brightened up the plate. Overall solid experience.

This is the second location of Joey I have been to, the first was Joey eaton centre. I ordered a blackened salmon Caesar, which is salmon on a huge Caesar salad. Unfortunately the portion size of the salmon was shockingly small. The one at Joey eaton centre was significantly bigger when my friend...

I think I give out too many high scores but again. I can't fault this place for anything other than an early last call of 12:45. Too bad but it's so worth eating st for any meal. Casual lunch or formal dinner. It's all going to be good. Served by the most attentive locket staff you can find. I've had longer shrimp ravioli, fish tacos, risotto and the most exquisite home pressed burger you're going to eat. They even have edamame! Lol Lots of wine selection and beers too. This could easily be another big box restaurant but it feels like I'm in an exclusive club. It would be nice to have a vinegar dispenser instead of a bowl for the vinegar for my fries but that is picky. I come here for lunch or after work when in in the neighbourhood. I love eating here and you will too.

Joey is okay, the atmosphere is nice. I hate that you have to take the stairs upstairs to use the restroom. Service used to be really great, but it is now just mediocre which takes away from the whole dining experience. It is in a great location though and wonderful to visit during the warmer months.

I ordered the ahi tuna salad and it was so great. Very tasty. The kids had sweet potato fries And they dressed them up with Parmesan and truffle oil aioli. Overall, the service was nice and the place good. For the location and price it was very good.

Joeys is one restaurant that i would take my non-Toronto friends to. The one at Don Mills has added advantage of the neighbourhood. Shops at Don Mills is a great hang out spot and is one of my favourite spots.
About Joeys - highly recommend their lettuce wraps and lobster grilled sandwich. The Tandoori chicken flatbread is good too. If you are looking for a healthy salad- try 'The Beach'.
They also have gluten free menu.
Overall a good restaurant for a nice dinner. Be prepared for longer serving time though, esp. on a bust weekend night.

Favorite dish there is the tuna salad. Right amount of protein and fibre. Second best is the burger, done pretty well. Heard the lobster ravioli is good too.

RM

We had a small bite on the patio after work and while my dragon roll was great, the service was a bit off that night. I had to wait over 10 minutes to get some soy sauce for my sushi?

Once that was all sorted out the sushi was great. I'd go back and try again for a full on dinner.

Stumbled upon this place while exploring the area and boy, were we glad. Didn't quite know what to expect in terms of food, but I think it's safe to say they exceeded our expectations by far.

We ordered the following:

- Sushi cone: Simple sushi handroll that was fresh and delectable and honestly, a lot better than I had at any other sushi restaurants during my stay in Canada.

- Lobster grilled cheese: This is what dreams are made of. You hear that perfect crunch when you bite into its buttery cheesy goodness. The lobster is succulent and there's just enough of it to not be overpowered by cheese. I asked for yam fries instead of regular fries, which I think was a great decision. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and were divine with the truffle aioli. Highly recommended.

- Bbq salmon rice bowl: My mom ordered this and she was generous enough to allow me to taste it. It was a simple dish but that bite was bursting with flavor. However, it was missing the edamame that were promised in the menu (no biggie).

- Chicken fettuccine Alfredo: This was creamy and really just delicious. The chicken was well cooked and seasoned, and added flavor to the pasta.

Joey's service was impeccable too and we were well looked after. I know I'm going back here on my next trip to Toronto.

I was surprised that Joey's was not busy at lunch on a beautiful sunny Saturday at noon. This location has a patio upstairs but I opted to sit downstairs. The washrooms are also upstairs and were nice and spacious. It has a clean and upscale feeling to it.

We were seated promptly. Since my whole group was not here, we ordered drinks first. We were asked maybe once or twice if we wanted to order any appetizers first but that's because it took half an hour before the rest of my group arrived. Our waitress came by a few times during the meal to check if we needed refills.

The food was served with a beautiful presentation. I had the sashimi tuna salad and I fell in love with it! It was quite a filling salad. There was ahi tuna, mango pieces, avocado, peanuts and crispy noodles. The salad was full of the cilantro ginger dressing but it wasn't soaking in it. Each bite was delicious and unique because you would get a bit of something else each time. It was so good that I keep on craving it! Now I don't know if I can try anything else on the menu because I'll want to order this salad again!

I highly recommend trying this salad if you haven't before =)

I had lunch today at JOEY Don Mills. I ordered the Hourly Roasted Rotisserie Chicken Entree (minus the veggies). I had it in their Winnipeg location in May and enjoyed it. There were two pieces of chicken ... the chicken was really tender. The potatoes were like homemade and the gravy was tasty. Obviously I 'd get it again. Tamara was my server and she took good care of me. Plus two others (managers?) stopped by during my meal to make sure that everything was okay. to the owner or employees.
La Bidouille
Pretty expensive for what it is. And the service wasn't efficient at all: it took us ages to get our dishes, and same with the bills. I'd recommend the sushi cone though.

Came here for drinks and snacks after dinner with friends good service great atmosphere comfortable I would come here again and recommend calling in and making reservations before as this place gets busy.

Myself and a few colleagues visited for lunch during our work break and was extremely disappointed. We have visited several times before due to location convenience but this time was the absolute worst. We waited 10 minutes to be seated, waited 15 minutes for our sever to take our order - we had mentioned that we were on a time constraint because we had to get back to work. After waiting another 20 minutes, our food finally arrived - but it was ALL COLD! We alerted our server to this and he would have everything re-heated (which took another 10 minutes). The negative experience made for a tense and unpleasant lunch and consequently we late returning to work. We will not be visiting again and will be discouraging others from attending your restaurant as well. Your service and quality has been comprised since you first opened. With all the competitive dining spots in the city and the fast paced nature of our society - I would suggest you re-examine your operations to ensure a decent level of customer satisfaction.

Great service! Our servers were upbeat and fun, their knowledge of the menu and portion sizing was exceptional. We had a good meal and good time. Big fan of the Bombay butter chicken - especially the currents in the rice, a nice touch. The hipster was very happy with his ribs, he said he was satisfied and full ( that's a big deal).
Gerard
The staff are top notch. Courteous, friendly but most importantly they know the food. The Ahi Tuna club and The Beach salad are amazing and the Lucky country Shiraz is delish. All this without breaking the bank ??? ???? ?

Reservations...not!'. I e-mailed Joey's today at 1:25 for a reservation for nine people today at 1:25. Two hours later I called and left a voice message as to my concern that no one has attempted to confirm. It is now 6:30 and I have yet to have a response to either of my attempts for communication. Your service is appalling and I would never visit your restaurant if this is the way you conduct business and disregard your patrons.
Happy Bunnies
Ribs a little dry. Chicken was flavourful. Mashed potatoes were to die for. Rocket greens remain a mystery. Soup with dumpling came with only dumpling skin. Steak was tender. Sushi rice was hard and cold. Came here because lost pf Chang coupon. The server worked very hard for her tip. I gave her lots of money.

Honestly, way over rated and way over priced. Only good thing about this place, nice looking waiter. I will not back come for this food

Those waitresses though!!!. The food and atmosphere is good, but them servers though!!
For The Love Of Food
You Can't Go Wrong with Joey's. Great food for a reasonable price. The wait can be long.

Good but not as good as earls's. Food is decent and not too spicy, wine is not too expensive but as far as entertainment and relaxation value Earl's has the better and more rocking girls. Still will revisit just girls don't get as much tip here from me coz all the team agreed earl's has the taller, cuter flaunting girls
Tina C
Been here a couple of times and have to say I would not come back if I have other options. The food and service are ok, but the ladies at the front just kill it. They are the most unfriendly staff I've seen at a Toronto restaurant and most of the time try to look busy and act as if they're doing you a favour... We are paying customers ladies. Paying customers.
Pauline
Snooty and not all that. Almost embarrassing-to-watch striving to be trendy, servers who are so inattentive and likely to get things wrong their only skill seems to be wearing short black dresses and so-so food. Noisy, too. Don't bother.
Kerry
High Class Restaurant. Oh yeah this place is the best. Food is tasty, good beer page and the servers are a perfect ten. No ounce of fat between all of them. Short skirts well above knee gives me the right to tip 25%.
Umran Kolgekaya
Lobster Ravioli, butter chicken, ahi tuna taco, apple pie with madagascar ice cream. It was absolutely delicious!! Must try!! Love love loved this place!!

I've been to each Joey location and this location is my favorite by far. Not that the food is better or that the service is better (you can get that at any of the locations but I love the atmosphere at this location the best. Their bar and
lounge area is a sweet place to catch up with a friend, their dining area is very
family friendy if you have youngsters,
and lastly their roof top patio has a romatic feel for a date!

Were hopeful. Very hopeful its like very expensive (but great food) so don't visit often but were very hopeful and then they assigned us a male waiter. All the women circled around but we got a male guy. Our luck. Soured the taste. Still the women there were great. They just didnt come to our table coz we had a male waiter.
Jellybeanie
Lobster grilled cheese was absolutely disgusting! The sandwich was drenched in oil. I like the salads though. Alfredo pasta is really oily too. Service good and the restaurant is always quite packed - I'm sure there are some items that are great I haven't tried yet.
Sh.fitsher
Fun Place.. This is a place where you go after work and you look acceptable to the public to go and enjoy a meal and chat with your co-workers. The food is good, the atmosphere is fun. Its like a lounge but you can hear each other and mingle. Halibut Tacos are my Favourite!!

Love the Mojitos! See you again Joeys ;-)

Great food & nice environment.
Highly recommended !

Excellent. A friend and I went for lunch on a rainy day. We sat up stairs in the outdoor covered bar area where we were warmly received by friendly servers. The Muskoka IPA was the special of the day, and we each had a pint. I had the now pretty famous fish tacos and they were as billed - wonderful. My friend had the chilli chicken appy and that made a delicious lunch.l I shall return.

Great first experience. For a fancy chain in a location like don mills shops, it was really a great experience all around. The weather forecasted thunderstorms, and the sky had been pretty dark all afternoon. But the rooftop patio was so incredibly beautiful with good coverage (plus the table umbrella gave us extra safety!)

Our waiter was amazing - and not just because he was so good looking and charming :) He was great with giving honest suggestions on the menu, attentive to serving us, but yet not so much it was annoying!

The entrees we ordered (curry and buttered chicken) wasn't the best, but we weren't expecting too much. It was a lot of food and wasn't bad - we were just in the mood so that's what we got! BUT we ordered the baja fish tacos as our appetizer, even though it was an entree item, and it was AMAZING. The best fish tacos I've had, granted I haven't had too many to compare to. But it was still the best! Great flavor and the fish texture was flaky and moist.

The only part of the meal I wasn't a fan of was the drink. The pomegranate mojito didn't have nearly enough mint or flavor and tasted almost like fruity water.

Overall, those fish tacos made the negative parts go away bec they were amazing. I would go back just for that! (And maybe the waiter too!)
Michael
Like Honey But Unique. So, I love good food, wine and atmo, and the steakhouse I always go to and Chinese weren't doing it for me. I craved something special for my date and freedom weekend, so my lady lfriend and me chose Joey. First be careful IT IS EXPENSIVE.
Boy, are we sure glad we did. The restaurant is very well decorated with a great ambiance. Everything we ate was top-notch and so
The women there will command this; YOU WILL COME BACK
The wine and food and one shared appie: $65!!!

Great place to chill with friends for dinner or late night drinks. The service was good too. I just had an appetizer, fried yams with lemon aioli. It was a great starter to share with friends.

Great Servers and food but....... I wanted to share an experience I recently had at Joey Don Mills. We had decided to go for dinner Friday July 6th and used the online feature "on my way now" at 7:15. It informed me that the wait time would be approx 61-90 minutes.

When we did arrive in the area, we decided to walk around since it was a beautiful night. We got to the door of the restaurant approx 70 mins from our online check-in and spoke with a young lady and her iPad. I watched her scroll down the list on her iPad and then she informed us that it would be another 45 minute wait at this point. We both double checked with her that she did indeed say another "45 minutes wait". At this point it is now 8:25 in the evening, not wanting to stand around at the front door or try to make our way to the very busy bar area, we decided to go for a drink at the Bier Market right beside. We had just ordered our beer, I decided to take my phone out of my purse so I could hear it if it rang and saw I had one missed the call from Joey Restaurant at 8:30. Not worried about the reservation, since must upscale restaurants will simply leave your name on the list and move to the next person, we decided to finish our drink and go back. We arrived back at the front door 15 min later, once again checked-in with a lady at the front desk this time to be told our reservation was gone. She could see that we were not impressed and was able to find a table in the lounge that would be ours once it was cleaned. Imagine our surprise when the table was suddenly give to another group and we were left standing at the door once again. To make matters worse, no one even informed us that the table was gone. We went up to the front desk, at this point you would think a person would start to recognize you after seeing you 3 times within a 20 minute period, she did not even realize what had happened. I can say that was the last straw and I asked to speak with the Manager on duty, who came over and did the Customer Service thing of "I apologize" let me find you a table as soon as possible. I instead requested a refund for the gift cards, I would rather give someone else my money if I had to wait any longer for a table. Amazing how 4 table became available within a matter of 2 minutes. We were seating, the manager once again apologized and left for the rest of the evening.

Even though the beginning of the night was a true turn off to your restaurant, I must say the server was excellent and extremely knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. The food was amazing as well. It is unfortunate that the front of the restaurant staff is clueless, especially with iPad and computers at their figure tips. It has truly turned me off Joey Restaurant.

Perect place to dine.. I am a regular here. I love the lobster grilled cheese sandwhich. Its my fav. They used to have these perfect little donuts I called then "Joey Bits", like Timbits but better, much much better. They don't have them on the menu anymore. That made me sad. My dughter loves the spicy hot chicken wings. Its her favourate everytime we go to this restaurant. The staff are vary friendly. The enviroment looks vary business like but don't let that fool you. They welcome familys with small children with a smile and are happy to help in any way to make the customers stay a plesant one. Price point: medium/high.

Good food, excellent service Very good drink prices Not enough variety for mains This guy was on the original Iron Chef but the Keg has more inventive steaks? Maybe i expected more because of the chef but i think the concept is to feed hungry shoppers things they already know and like. No lamb or pork and not a lot of seafood. Very busy but service was spot-on. Overall great experience but not a foody's place at all.
Marc
Good food..love the ahi club.. But! Dont asked to be seated at the booths near the kitchen, or you'll never see your server again! Takes almost 30 mins just to get some water and the place wasnt even busy.
Celia
Went there today for lunch with my elderly parents. The staff was very pleasant and accomodating. We were not rushed even though it was very busy. The food was very good. (I have eaten at their Vancouver restaurant , Joey Bentall and it is just as good). We loved the crispy mashed potatoes. My parents were very happy with their lobster ravioli and the portion was huge. Neither could finish. They were very careful with my food as I have a fish and seafood allergy, I always appreciate that. I had steak frites, very good. The service was very good and worked around our various dietary concerns, allergy, low sodium etc.

Joey Goes To Toronto. E: Joey has a global fusion menu that has moved away from the chain's original Italian intent. Nowadays one finds Japanese gyoza (dumplings), Szechuan edamame (i.e. Chinese Japanese), butter chicken (India), Panang from Thailand (mild coconut curry), Italian pasta and the usual array of burgers and steaks.
On my first visit I tried on the Bombay Butter Chicken dish, which is a divergence for me. One would think that Indian has to be had at an Indian restaurant, as opposed to a generalist restaurant. Still, admittedly, the menu's 'S' and 'GF' logos ('Soy-based' and 'Gluten-Free' respectively) and the waitress' emphatic sales pitch, er recommendation, did it. That was uncharacteristic behaviour for this reviewer. Regardless, the food was actually good with the rice being respectable. They do need a broader selection of items on the menu however.
I also tasted the Ahi Tuna Club, which was tasty.
Joey is not a cheap restaurant. Expect to pay for the decoration, location and the service. Read on.
-
A: Atmosphere and ambiance is what Joey, and its sister chains Earls and Cactus Club Cafe, do well. Large windows, high ceiling, large door, roped valet service, lounge section with TVs and high chairs, dining section with, arrggghh, infants, a second floor heated patio (which was closed when we visited) and a modern and clean washroom are all part and parcel of the chain.
The restaurant is certainly clean and the bathroom amenities are made to impress. The stairs to the bathroom and the patio expose the climbers to the whole restaurant and vice-versa. Eating on the patio might not be such a good notion; however, as most of it would not have much of a view.
Unfortunately, not being alert enough, I picked the dining area - wanting to escape the TVs and the noise - and was promptly shown a table right next to not one, not two, but three baby strollers. Obviously, there were no babies in them as their occupants and parents were a couple of tables over, but still... they did nonetheless make some noise and become nuisance later. It was not too loud though as they were not adjacent to us.
-
T: We did not have a reservation, but were promptly seated for lunch. We had walked by one evening and had noticed the line-up and the packed restaurant so do not expect to be seated quickly at night. The ambiance is chic and dim at night.
Parking is available either via their valet service or is a 5-minute walk from both the covered and the outdoor parking areas.
-
S: The service is trained to be attentive and smiling at Joey. The hand-picked hostess was prompt; the first hand-picked waitress passed us on to the second hand-picked one who also was always polite and friendly. They do the routine service check and take their cues from the customer for the length of conversation.
It is all a little plastic and sterile, but rather this than sitting near a beer guzzler at a pub or being served sloppy Joes.
Joey is a welcome addition to the scene here. They are highly leveraged to their looks and ambiance and bring a little bit of their more relaxed BC and AB (where they are better known as Joey Tomato's) culture to Ontario as well.

Good. Lots of atmosphere always to packed but its a good sign.. Food was good Service was just as good and not bad in price....

Good Food, but come for the skirts. Lovely place full of models and short skirts and cleavage. Love it. Food is good but you will end up leaving 20% tip. Try the ribeye, very expensive but wow.

We had lunch at Joey on New Years Day. Our large group that included 3 boys aged 3 and under was wonderfully accommodated. Our server was warm, friendly and even made a point of learning all the kids' names! The food arrived promptly and was delicious. No complaints and we would definitely return!

One of each please!. Fish tacos and a rainbow roll

Blondie waitress I still think about. Went there last week. Went to Joey's for dinner. First thing I noticed, was the girl at the door. Second was the music was a bit loud.I need to talk up the women and the music is too loud. Hostesses and servers were friendly, but not in an overly fake way. They were genuine blondes. My friend was drinking the beer special, which she raved about. The more she looked in her glass the more I could look around. They layout is similar to how it was as Blu club, but with a few changes. The view of the restaurant is outstanding. The place itself is very clean, and very easy to look at. Loads of HDTV's to watch. No kidz. Food was very good. Also had a good selection of beer and wine. I am still thinking of our waitress and her body. I will be back.

Excellent food. There is a reason why this restaurant is often crowded. It is because the food is really good. We've eaten here several times and ordered different items from the menu. We were never disappointed and went home quite happy and satisfied.

Good food, iffy service. We went to Joeys' on a Thursday night and it was a full-house, lucky we put our name on the wait list ! All the waitresses looked completely overwhelmed and were not very attentive. For a few minutes none of them knew who was taking care of our table!
We later requested to be moved to the patio and I'm SO GLAD they found us a table there - very different atmosphere and our sever was AMAZING - he actually knew his job and happy to do it unlike the pretty plastic girls downstairs.
The appetizers were delicious and the steak cooked to perfection. They've got their food right, just need to figure out their service levelsand stop putting "Reserved" signs on tables they remian empty all evening.
Overall, I'm glad I checked it out....would go back if I was promised better service overall.
Blonde Man
A restaurant you can trust. My server morgan (I think she hasnt called he he) was very pleasant. She was incredibly personable. However, the boss/manager was very boring and dressed horribly like she works at a office. She was right there on the floor walking around. The waitresses were just fine and in their skirts that made me feel like the experience of a lifetime. The food was great! I will be back and drinks were fantastic and I want to complement the bar. i look forward to going to that!
Respekt
Joeys is a pricy and high class looking restaurant that is surrounded by expensive shops. Anyways,we went for my birthday (8 people) The food was good, but the butter chicken tasted westernized. The servers are not that but still pretty friendly. The only big problem was that my sister wanted to surprise me with a cake, and after telling the waiters three times to not forget about the cake, you think they wouldnt. But after a reminder about the came that ruined the surprise, they brought it without the balloons and little gifts we got with it. Joeys is a good restaurant for food and ambiance, but the service could be better. Hope I helped! :)

Surprise hidden charges and in your face large screen bare knuckle fighting leaves bad taste.. Why would an expensive family restaurant offer high priced pasta and create a low brow sports bar atmosphere? Having a Saturday night dinner with family and friends. We were trying to enjoy our meal while forced to watch a multiscreen bloody fist fight, in a "family restaurant". So beneath the image I thought Joey's was trying to create. Was charged for a large glass of wine we did not order and was not told of their double gratuity policy- Note check your bill -it's labeled as a 'charge tip' and a 'service charge.' Needless to say we won't go back there again..with so many excellent restaurants in Toronto, why would we drive to Don Mills.
Nina
Not a typical restaurant. Very hip, trendy, beautiful servers, OK service. Great food, and drinks, very similar to Earls in Vancouver.
Not a place for kids in the evening. But kids are ok during the day.
Highly recommended for a night out with friends.
Britt
Amazing menu. A trip to Joey has never disappointed myself or my family. The service has always been good (and the servers are gorgeous) and the decor is great - be sure to check out the drink menu in the middle of the table, it's got some cute joke pages in it.

Joey's has something for everyone when it comes to food. If you like crab, you've got to try the warm crab and goat cheese dip as a starter (great for sharing as it's a bit rich). The main course is always hard to pick as there are so many amazing ones, but favorites include the baja fish tacos, lobster grilled cheese, and sashimi tuna salad. If you're in a sandwich mood, the ahi tuna club is one of the best sandwiches my boyfriend and I have ever had.

Sure, I'm in!. I've met up with friends several times at Joey's. The waitstaff have been really patient with us when the restaurant was busy and we were still waiting for the rest of our group to arrive. Food has always been good, though I can't recall what I've eaten there, so it couldn't have been that memorable. Great place for friends, family, and dates! (However, if you want your date to be looking at you, might want to reserve somewhere else 'cause the female staff wear super tight dresses and high high heels here.)

WHo Is This Joey Guy? HE Knows How To Do It. My wife and I dined here recently. Weekday early evening, we were not the only diners when we arrived at opening. We were sat and served by the hostess, a very personable blonde import who made it clears he was happy with her new job. Menu is one sheet, but plenty of variety. I had the carpaccio, it was outstanding. My woman had a goat cheese and blk olive spread I think. We had a BC merlot that did not disappoint and was only $60. My halibut was superb. I NEVER say this at ANY restaurant, but i could have easily ordered five of the six entres offered. My baby had a short dress on but she looked perfect in place next to their waitstaff who are grade A. Service was top notch and their best asset. The washroom was clean and well appointed. Only negative I could mention was the choice of music. A bit techno and in our opinion, a mismatch to the restaurant. Plenty of lot parking and easy to find. Will return for certain.
Maria
Lobster & brie grilled cheese sandwich. By far the best grilled cheese/ lobster sandwich EVER!
Torontofoodie
Sat at the rooftop patio, great atmosphere. Service was a little slow but the food made up for it.
Amanda
Nice environment, decent food, I would recommend this place. I will most likely return.

Horrible Experience.. A group of 7 of my friends, decided to go Sunday afternoon to enjoy the beautiful weather on their patio.
We asked for a table on the patio and the main floor hostess told us to go upstair and ask for one.We went to the rooftop patio and nobody was there to acomodate us, the hostesses and waitresses were just fooling around, nobody told us anything, they were just chatting and doing nothing.
Finally after 1/2 hour waiting(they didnt offer us to seat while we wait)we got a table, then we wait about 45 min for a waitress to help us.
I did order a pomegranate mojito that it was the most horrible and watery mojito i had ever tried in my life. The waitress asked me: how was my drink: I said is really bad. She didnt event ask nothing else, didnt say a word.
Then I order the beach salad, is a 17 dls salad, a little bit pricey. for my surprise it had only 3 little pieces of chicken and the avocado it was so ripe that it was black...it was so gross that i didnt finished it.I told the waitress and she said ;Oh Im sorry.anyway she was very busy flirting with the guys on our table.Overall is a nice patio but we wont go there anymore and i will tell my friends not to even think about it.
At the end I had to pay for my watery drink and my salad wiht th black ripe avocados.

Joey Don Mills. Beverage: Good
Food: Mediocre
Service: Horrible

I couldn't believe the incompetence from some of these girls. We waited an hour and a half for the patio only to find out that they forgot to put our name on the list... Isn't this why they put 3 girls at the hostess stand? So things like this don't happen? After I confronted them they neglected the issue for about another half an hour and finally decided to seat us upstairs after they seated 3 other people even though we were told we'd have the next available table.

Upstairs now. Let's talk about the server... Bland, boring, zero humor. Also incompetent. Dan and I placed our order for food at the same time and 30 minutes later the girl brings out only dan's food and informs me that a portion of my meal was not available. It's baffling to me how she had the nerve to tell me this 30 minutes after I had already ordered and while she brought out Dan's food. Did she think that we were going out to dinner to eat separately? Or did she think that after waiting an hour and a half to be seated that I would want to wait another hour to eat since I had to re-order my food when it was supposed to be served.

Needless to say that you can dress up a few donkeys but it doesn't make them any smarter.
Robin Goodfellow
The food was enjoyable but definitely the most over priced restaurant I've ever been too. There is no need for Asian fusion pub food to have entrees between $25 and $35. It seemed like a more expensive "Earl's"

I always love going to Joey Don Mills. my friend introduced me m to this restaurant a year ago and i've gone back many times to try different items on the menu. The service is really good and although sometimes there are long wait lines the restaurant is nice enough to provide us samples of their appetizers and wines. I was so surprised the first time they did that because I certainly had never experienced a restaurant doing that before. It is without question that everytime we go we order the ahi tuna tacos and the yam fries for appetizers. Those are amazing. The lobster ravioli and lobster grilled cheese are delicious. I've only had the apple pie for dessert which is only okay. Overall, I've gone to Joey more times than I can think of and everytime the food and service is good. Can't wait to go again next time.
Clem
Lucky?. I must be lucky as I haven't encountered any bad service at Joey's [seeing some of the bad comments on urbanspoon re: service]. Quite the contrary, everytime we have gone we have received great service (we usually go during Sunday lunch). Prices are not cheap and I would say they are a tad pricier than Milestones or Moxies. The food is comparable to restaurants in this range. They have an Indian Butter Chicken dish that they do very well. I would recommend a go for sure.
Marta
Typical chain style restaurant! Food is only ok but the patio and bar are great. Nothing different from milestones or moxies
Serena
Hostess would rather let you die, then give you a seat.. I went to Joey's with my family. We got there at 6:00 pm and they told us it would be a 45 minute wait. At 7:00 we still weren't seated and they didn't know how much longer it would be. I explained to the hostess very nicely that my mom is diabetic so she has to eat at a specific time and if they couldn't accomodate us by 7:15 we would have to leave to find another restaurant otherwise her blood sugar would drop too low and she would fall ill. I simply wanted to know if we would be seated by 7:15 or not, so that we could find another restaurant if it would be later than that. The hostess rolled her eyes, then walked away, blatantly ignoring me. I hope none of you ever have to endure such ignorance, needless to say we walked out and headed over to Glow where we were treated with respect.

BEWARE: Horrible Experience!!. After calling the restaurant and informing them we had a party of 12 they advised us to arrive at 8 pm. We arrived at the suggested time and were told to wait for 2.5 hours.

At 10:30 we asked the hostess about the tables who responded back that she did not know she would be able to give us a table. The place was slowing down and we still were not given a clear answer. We saw a group leave and took over the table informing the person at the door that we were doing so. The menu's and drinks arrived 20 minutes after we sat down and had to request to have the table cleaned.

As for the meal! I asked the waitress how one meal was before ordering and she said it was really good so I went ahead and ordered it. I was not satisfied at all and did not see my waitress around. It was past 11 by now. I asked another waitress for some mayo she said she would get back to me and never heard from her. When it came time to collect the food the waitress asked me how the food was and I told her I wasn't satisfied, she said she would tell the manager to take care of it. Well when I received the bill he hadn't. she didn't mention anything about speaking to the manager and it was almost 1 am by now. I was too tired to make a fuss and just wanted to get out of the place.

Will not be visiting again after that horrible experience!
Sava
NOT your typical Toronto restaurant. Joey is NOT your typical chain restaurant. Good food that comes in good portions, drinks menu that rocks and German (he he) waitresses in wonderful skirts. looooove it
JenJen
Joey does the chain right. My business associates and I tried Joey for lunch and all of us were pleased (the free valet was a bonus!).

The portions are fair, the prices are reasonable and our service was fairly prompt and attentive.

I would like to describe the food as being global-fusion and imaginative; However, to me it seems like another Milestones, Moxies or Earls.

What sets Joey apart is that the food is actually executed flawlessly. So just go into your dining experience expecting clichéd food and you won't be disappointed.

Men will also not care what the food tastes like when they will be drooling over their server instead...
MaryA
The bar is great!. The bar is great with great amniance, but food is OK.
Viking Man
Busy but for a reason. This is like Moxies, good food but better waitresses. No wonder they are so busy. I bet the owner is going to open more and if so hopefully expand centrally which is closer to us. This restaurant is now one of my favourites. Every time we've been there, it's been a great time. Magnificient food and beautiful service staff . Honestly the Joey ladies have grabbed my attention. They know how to dress and act and complement the food. I had shrimps and I think it was Cajun sauce and it was magnificient.
BobbyKay
The food is OK. However, the service is terribly slow. They took a hour and 15 minutes to bring our main courses. Worst of all, it took them an hour to tell me that they were out of the main that I ordered.

Really delicious food. My boyfriend and I went to Joey for dinner on a saturday night. We went early enough that getting a table was easy, it was also raining so it was a bit of a slow night. We both loved the entire experience. The food was creative, modern and delicious, the ambiance is gorgeous, later in the evening the place fills up with a stylish good looking crowd. Our waitress Erin was hilarious, she made the evening truly memorable and was probably the reason we stayed for drinks after dinner. The calamari was fantastic, seasoned to perfection and served with tempura vegetables that really took the dish over the top. I had the Blackened Basa, which was delicious, the cumin scented rice being particularly good. My boyfriend had the sirloin; the steak was tender, flavourful and perfectly cooked. The mashed potatoes they serve are unlike anything you've seen before, sooo good. And I must add that the Supersonic Gin and Tonic is really yummy. My only suggestion would be that the servers need to try the menu items so that they can offer constructive advice. An overall great experience, we will definitely be back. Oh, and BTW, this is already a chain, they're from out west. :)

Worst Place We've been - Never recommend it. Waited over an hour for a table
When we where taken to our table, we find it was given to someone else, he tipped the bartender 20 bucks and stole the table
Manger spoke to said person, but did nothing for us
Kept us standing like idiots in middle of tables

Put us in the corner instead of the table we had coming to us

- Staff is very poorly trained
- Is not safe, as they have no security
- Manager did not clearly address our issues right away
- We not offered free drinks for our trouble, until we insisted on such.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION TO ANYONE - not a safe environment and staff is not able to control it's clients

Should mention, as we where leaving there was trouble, didn't get all the details.

STAY AWAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will never go back and will make sure to tell everyone I know about our bad experience. You can have a off night, but to misfire so badly, these guys will not be in business for long. Jeff Fuller, Joey's president and CEO is going to hear from are whole party!!!

Finally something different. I really hope they don't ever change and become a ordinary Toronto restaurant. What can I say? Good steaks? Check? Full bar? Check. Appetizers? Check? Great service? Check. beautiful and pleasing waitress? Check.
It's not just the beautiful people who work here. The food is great. My steak was exactly as I order them. If it weren't no one would come back. But they have it all here. At this location they even open the door for you. Ask for the drink specials! We could have missed them and they were good idea.
Omar Smith
The reason it is packed. They are a very good restaurant, with modern and traditional choices on the menu, wines and lots of parking but they set themselves apart with their hostess and waitresses. These are not your average old maid moms, these are hard abs in right dresses (and skirts!!) beautiful servers. Perfect for eating, drinking and atmosphere. Maybe the owner will expand into a chain but where will they find more staff like this? Will be back.
Michael B
Waited an hour which was expected. They called me on cell , try using a beeper, and promptly showed up 3 min later to find out table was given away. Waited another hour. The two girls at the reservation desk were shhh how can I say this "b- itches first grade. Other staff were friendly Manager Andrew could only apologize and smile. Menu was good. Food was good however, we had party of 6 and they brought one meal 10inutes before everyone elses. Sent it back and asked that it be served together. Well they did, the same dish that had already been at the table for 10-15 min prior, soggy and cold. For a restaurant this busy and popular some major cardinal rules broken. Will try again but want to try the sold out taco this time. b+ food A for the tall gorgeous girls that kept me happy F for the resvation staff C for management A for wait staff. Make a reservation in advance and be there or they'll give your table away.

If you know me, you must also be aware of my love for the restaurant chain Joey's; in particular, their Shops at Don Mills location! However, as I'm assuming most of you don't know me in person, I'll give you a few reasons as to why Joey's is my absolute favourite restaurant chain: 1. I have YET to be disappointed by any of their food. (And trust me, I've tried loooads of their dishes!) 2. The atmosphere and decor is fabulous... truly a great place to unwind with friends! :) 3. Fast service food arrival. 4. Did I mention they have the greatest yam fries EVER? And they serve Caesars?! Anyways, here are the dishes I've had during my last trip there, and my 2 cents on them. Yam Fries, 12$ These are amazing. Amazing. I've had these fries numerous times already, and they're always perfectly crispy on the outside while still maintaining some softness in the inside. The mayo with truffle oil is divine. The combination of the slightly tangy mayo and the yam fries is to DI

Our waitress was friendly but often inattentive. I had to get up and go to the water station for a refill. Overall I liked the food and would go back again. Next time I want to get the lobster grilled cheese.
MelaDolce
I was equally impressed with the food. It was fresh and delicious with unique flavour notes and spunky ingredients. My particular favourite was the Lobster Grilled Cheese. I was really glad I ordered the yam fries because I used the truffle lemon aioli to dip my sandwich in. I did not like the cocktail sauce it came with but the aioli really brightened up the rich buttery flavours. The steak and sushi was an interesting take on a surf & turn and the fish and the rainbow roll was very fresh. The steak itself was a little dry and I don't feel the flavours complimented the sushi in any way. Another winner though, was the Florentine ravioli. The scallops melted in my mouth and I could have bathed in the sauce!

Joeys provides a large menu with globally inspired cuisine. There is sure to be something that everyone will want to enjoy. The menu sounds modern, creative, and delicious, however, the food is on par with other local chains such as Moxies, Milestones, and Alice Fazoolies.
JOEY restaurant is a casual-fine dining chain that has many locations throughout Canada. It is actually my favorite chain restaurants in Toronto due to the consistency of their food, ambiance and service. There is a total of three locations in Ontario; Shops at Don Mills, Eaton Centre and Yorkdale.
Sarah B. Hood
As you can see, they were bustling about in the shiny new kitchen, making butter chicken and other delectable treats for the guests.
Jennifer
Sweet and spicy with a hint of maple taste and "Indian" flavor. The dough was harder/tougher than I thought it would be; it tasted like pizza crust. Also ordered Ahi Tuna Tacos and Yam Fries - I like the garlic mayo dip. Friends who ordered the Lobster Ravioli said it was nothing special, but the Ahi Tuna Club is supposed to be really good.

This Christmas holiday was the first time I visited a JOEY restaurant. If you are / were like me and never went because it is just so far away…you’ll be happy to know that there will be one opening up this year at Markville!! I’m quite excited for that because their food is delicious, the service is good, and it’s a place that allows you to sit and chat as you eat. After much deliberation from reading tips on what to get on Foursquare we ended up getting all seafood dishes. We started off with the Calamari Fritto which comes with deep fried fennel and asparagus, drizzled in spicy aioli. I honestly did expect the calamari to be bigger in size, like in a bigger piece curled up? But they were soft and tasty nonetheless with the aioli sauce. Not the best calamari that I’ve had, but it was good in the sense that the deep fry batter was thin, so it created a thin crispy skin. The fennel and asparagus was also interesting as I have never eaten it deep fried before. It was a pretty big start

The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable, but the service was lackluster.

Freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit juice topped with soda quenches our thirsty appetites. Tempura shrimp, delicately hand rolled with tobiko, avocado and rice needs a tad

the patio is one of the best I've been to so far and the food was excellent. Everything was very tasty and delicious.
