Review Oretta - Toronto

Ignacio Li
Had a good experience here at Oretta, good ambience and interior design. Food was good as well, good variety of dishes from the tasting menu and was definitely full after the meal. The tiramisu was average to me, but maybe because it just wasn't what I was accustomed to. Overall a great experience and would recommend to anyone who is curious.

Always wanted to come here as I heard so much about this place! It lived up to all the talk and expectations! The architecture is beautiful, along with the food, drinks and the service. Thank you Mia for such an incredible night, your recommendations, energy and service really uplifted us! Will definitely be coming back! A great place for date night and intimate family and friends gathering. Would recommend reserving a table before your visit as it can get quite busy. Overall, an incredible experience!

The best!! Oretta is such a cute place for date night. The music is not too loud, the ambiance is immaculate. The food is so so good! I highly recommend checking this place out during their “happy hour” 4-7 on weekdays! Everything is $11 or lower for drinks and food and it’s so delicious. The staff here are also so kind, attentive, and have such charismatic personalities. I can’t wait to come back!

Lovely place! Gorgeous interior! Set at the bar and we love our seats! Our bartender Ali was very attentive, but also let us chat with my friend and only appeared when we needed him. Food was good! Loved it at first, but it was quite greasy! Ordered Mortadella pizza and green salad, both items looked and tasted good I only wish they didn’t pour half a glass of oil (or pesto on each items). It was way to much oil and it was really dripping! Also salad supposed to be with yogurt dressing and not pesto! Patio seats also available! Host team is not very attentive! Had to wait for our table and they never called us back! Had to went back twice to check if our reservation table was ready!

Went for a weekday lunch with coworkers. Service was excellent and food was incredible. A couple standouts: The fried artichokes wow!!! I would come back any day just for these, the best I have ever had !! And the table side cacio e pepe for a little flare, so rich and creamy. The cocktails were also very good. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. Our group enjoyed lunch thoroughly.

We had tuna salad, seafood salad, scallop, fish spaghetti and meatballs. Would recommend tuna, seafood salad and scallop as they are super fresh and tasty. Meatballs are ok but the spaghetti is not really for us 🥲 only 4 stars because some of the dishes are quite salty and the patio is too dark for us.

Oretta is an amazing choice if you’re looking for Italian food in Toronto. The waitress was super nice and provided an amazing service. The restaurant was also kind enough get my family and I a table earlier than our reservation time. The food came out hot and steaming. The pasta was fresh and just the right amount of sauce was put on. The portion is worth the amount you pay. I also tried the SALSICCIA pizza. I loved how big the pizza was and how crispy the crust was. It was a well done pizza. Definitely will be coming back to Oretta in the future.

Unbelievable drink; the blood orange with whiskey! I tired it and quickly everyone on the table got it. The food is great, beautiful interior, amazing spot. Couldn’t get better. Will go back for sure.

The space is beautifully and smartly designed. Absolutely love the deco feel and attention to detail from the menu to the hooks in the bathroom. The staff was very friendly and efficient, they knew interesting info about the place and the designers, etc; I had their ricotta bruschetta appetizer which was delicious and their pizza which was fresh, nicely made but could use a bit more toppings. Not the best pizza, not the worst. Decent. Prices were decent for the location and overall ambiance. Would recommend.

We ordered the meat and cheese board. Truthfully the meat was like it was from Costco and the cheese was a bad selection. It could have been from a better meat shop in the city. I ordered risotto that came looking and tasting like a breakfast frittata. The service was friendly and kind we really enjoyed our server. I really think it would be better as a bar instead of a restaurant. Compared to Libretto and Buca, this restaurant is falling significantly short. Sadly we will not be back. We definitely regret changing our Lavelle reservation to try it.

Edited my review from 4 to 2 stars after my 3rd visit. Came in last Saturday night for dinner & was excited to try out different items on the menu and ended up in disappointment. Ordered the Insalata and lamb(Spalla D'Agnello). Fennel was listed as the 1st ingredient of Insalata & there was hardly any fennel in it. It was mainly mixed lettuce or kale? or who knows what greens as I predominantly tasted the vinaigrette & nothing else. When I told the waiter he then brought me a little bowl of something that resembled shredded fennel but certainly lacked any of the distinctive licorice aroma. If there was sufficient amount of fennel in the 1st place the entire salad would still have been insipid as all ingredients tasted like watered down GMO vegetables. The lamb dinner came in 2 rectangular cubes of meat atop some dark brown sauce & scattered potato pieces. No mint sauce. I believe the dark sauce was pan jus which was actually quite delicious. The flavouring of the lamb was tasty but the cuts of meat overly fatty. The lamb shoulder cube was around 35% meat 65% fat ratio, and the bacon cube was pretty much all fat. At $28 a plate I expected to be fed more meat than what was offered. To be fair my 2 companions enjoyed their pasta & pizza way better than I did my food. I also had 2 pleasant lunch experiences back in January. If I visit again I would stick to the brussel sprout & beet salad, and maybe just pasta & pizza. Below was my 1st review. Service was great. Food was delicious. Looking forward to visiting again to try out different items on the menu.

Food was great! So delicious! The server was polite and friendly. It was valentine's day we brought a toddler and we were served as if it were any other day of the week. Definitely recommend on food alone.

Truly such a terrible and disappointing experience at Oretta for my friends birthday. After waiting an hour and a half for our first round of drinks and appetizers, we received all our food at once, and finally received our drinks 30 minutes after our food arrived. Our whole party understood that it was a Friday night and the restaurant was extremely busy, and knew it was not our servers fault, however we couldn't help but feel disappointed since we were celebrating a special birthday. We ensured the waitress that we were extremely full and didn't care for anymore drinks, however the manager still came out with champagne for all of us. This was extremely kind and generous, however at this point in the night, we didn't care for any more drinks, and most of the champagne was left untouched at the table. A girl in our party asked if she could order a dessert, and immediately without being asked, the waitress told her that the dessert would not be taken care of since we had already received complimentary champagne. No one in our party was looking to get free stuff, but in hindsight, a free birthday dessert or comped drinks would have gone a long way from the restaurant. Disappointed with our whole experience and how we were treated, I asked to speak to the manager after we had all paid. I can honestly say I have never had anyone speak to me the way the manager at Oretta did. I understand that it was a busy night for her and that we were a big party, but the goal of anyone in the hospitality industry is to take care of their guest. Instead of coming up with a solution that works for both parties, the manager had no desire to improve our experience.

Came in here very optimistic and really hoping to like it but unfortunately food fell short. The staff , decor , ambiance is great, but I haven't really loved anything I have ordered there. I came back twice in hopes that I will enjoy it more but unfortunately I did not. Except the Canolis. Those are good except paying $16 for two tiny canolis dulls their great taste. I would rate it 3 star but the one thing that pisses me off is the menu. It is all in Italian without ANY English translation. I sit there like an idiot googling their menu for 20 minutes before ordering.

If it wasn't for the beautiful decor it would be a 0 star. The service was slow, the food was bland and tasteless. We waited an hour for our mains with 3 tables in the whole place. Who waits an hour for eggs?! Our bacon was burnt (how does that even happen), they did comp if but at that point I would pay the $6.00 to not go back. The only reason to return is the Instagram worthy interior. I wouldn't return.

We love Oretta! Every time we go it is an outstanding experience with delicious italian food, and above and beyond customer service. We hosted a birthday brunch here this past weekend and wanted to surprise our guests with bomboloni from the Oretta Cafe - they came out to the table beautifully arranged on a platter with a real wow effect. Oretta takes everything to the next level. Everything was beyond our expectations, thank you Oretta!

The best restaurant on King West! Good food, people are friendly and the design of the space is ultra chic. Cool place to bring a date.

It was great. Went last Wednesday for dinner. Chrissy is an excellent server. She should be cloned. I fell in love with the Burrata. Drove back there yesterday for more.
