Review The White Brick Kitchen - Toronto

Ali _Haidhar
One of my favorite places for brunch food. I came here to try the chicken and waffles and they were amazing to say the least. My friend and I sat out on the patio and were served by a pleasant waiter. The staff seated us fairly quick even though the place was fairly packed on that day. Its important to note that the hash browns were nice and soft and we honestly did not even have to dip them in any ketchup because of how tasty they were. The chicken and waffles that I had were probably in my all time favorite list. The service was prompt and we received the dishes ordered quickly as well. My friend and I were tired from the drive to Toronto and were running low on energy until we came and tried the White Brick Kitchen. It is important to note that finding parking was a bit hard and we did park a couple of blocks away. We did circle around a few times until a location with a free spot opened up.

My FAVOURITE chicken place in the city. Literally the BEST chicken sandwich ive ever eaten. Also the spicy fried chicken wings have a great hot but flavourful deep spice coating. They also sell donuts and near their closing time they have an end of day sale. Ive come back here many times for the food and friendly service, take my word for it this place is triple A.

This spot is amazing! The staff is quick and friendly. The food is outstanding! We ordered the fries chicken entree as well as the fried chicken sandwich. This place has by far the best fried chicken in Toronto hands down. Note, this place is fairly busy on the weekends so be prepared to wait for a table.... it it is definitely worth it. We will definitely be coming back here again!

One of the best fried chicken in town. The chicken is moist and juicy although it is on the saltier side IMO. Goes well with the waffle though. I also recommend the brisket burger as it has more flavors than regular beef burger.

Went here last week for dinner with some friends. They swore by the fried chicken. That's what they ordered and it looked great. The chicken sandwich with honey sauce on it needs improvement. The sauce was too running and just made a puddle on my plate. They need to reduce it more and coat the whole chicken piece in the sauce. The lettuce was overly shredded and didn't offer the crunch you want when you have lettuce on sandwich. Drink and food prices were good.

Went here for breakfast during the week; they don't serve brunch during the week by still had breakfast options. Fried chicken was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside - VERY good. Breakfast poutine is everything you'd want on a breakfast poutine (baked beans, chunks of sausage, fried egg). Portion sizes are large and fair for the price/location. Our server Matt was fast and attentive, great service!!

Their Fried Chicken Benny was really good. It was tasty and I loved it. I tried their Farm Sausage though and it was average something you can find in any store. They waiters refiles your coffee with delay and I found because they were really busy. In general I like the place and good option if you pick what they are famous for which is their fried chicken.

The White Brick does not disappoint when it comes to Fried Chicken and Ceasar's. I highly recommend the Poulet Royal - fried chicken a top a golden waffle covered with ranch, 2 fried eggs and house cut hickory sticks. There is an option to add bacon as well as cheese to this dish but I opted out for this first go around. This place gets 🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗 5 out of 5 chicken legs on my chicken scale. The restaurant is clean, has washrooms down stairs. Pay by cash or cards but no $100 bills. Servers are very polite and helpful. Booth seating for foursome. Street parking is available there is a Green P lot across the street behind the storefronts that always has space.

Great food. A bit of a wait. It's not a place to hang out after your meal since so busy. Maybe in the summer with patio there is more room not as busy.

Been several times and have yet to have a bad meal. Staff are always polite and friendly. Food is AMAZING. It is a bit pricy but you get a lot of food for the cost. Highly recommend the BBQ ranch fries (our waitress today suggested it and holy hell were we glad for it because they're fan-freaking-tastic). It's my go to place whenever I am on Bloor. <3

I would consider this a great little hidden gem. Amazing brunch and lunch options. Probably one of the better Caesars in the city, and they are definitely not lying with their sign outside boasting the best chicken and waffles in the city.
Vanessa Cenaiko
The food here is fantastic! Everything tasted amazing! Small place but huge flavour and portions! I highly recommend sharing. The servers are very attentive and friendly.

To the owners and management of this restaurant. Your place is not family friendly and your waiter is extremely rude that we left due to how uncomfortable she made us feel. I went there with my sister on Saturday and it was not busy. I was with my two nieces who r in a stroller and the waitress from the minute we entered was rude. We asked her for a table at at the front as it was empty she said no. So we followed her to the back table and the stroller wouldn’t fit. So she suggested we go outside and go through the other door. Her attitude and rudeness was not okay so we decided not to have lunch there and left. I will not be going back to your place because of this experience. families with young kids and strollers this place is not for you!

Great staff and food was delicious. Cute little place. Will be back

Its a nice spot to eat. The food is really good and the service it good as well. The place is small but cozy

Found the chicken to be quite dry. This resto reminded me of any other place that serves burgers & fries. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Amazing brunch, love the bennies with fried chicken and french toast. We will go back!

Great service. Great food. Loved it! Enjoyed the entire meal.

Great burgers, little hidden but finding it was half the fun. Would defiantly eat there again.

Amazing brunch. Scotch eggs are the best part of this place

great atmosphere, amazing food, cannot wait to go back!

Been there 3x. As always, super just wished i could have a side of greens with the yummy chicken and waffles.

Tried for the first time today. Absolutely stellar brunch. There were 4 of us, we all had something different and we each raved about our meals. One word to the owners: would have given you 5 stars instead of 4 if the coffee had been as stellar as the food (it was less than average). With such excellent food, the coffee was double-disappointing (especially without being able to order an Americano instead). With so many great micro-roasters in the area (e.g., Ezra's, Ideal...), perhaps one of those could be introduced? There's one place we often choose for brunch over others just because they have a great cup of coffee (they use Ezra's). Otherwise, really fantastic, we'll all be back.

We put our name down for a half hour wait for 2 on a busy Sunday for brunch. It was definitely worth the wait! The fried chicken was some of the best I’d ever had. I had the friend chicken sandwich (honey garlic) and the flavours were amazing, with the chicken being very tender and moist. I would definitely come back!

Stopped for a quick lunch/brunch. Had an apple fritter - very good. One had classic breakfast Which was good - fairly standard. The grilled cheese with bacon sandwich was good with the strongest taste being the ‘tomato jam.’ Would have liked a slightly stronger cheese flavour.
We were Looking for some where new for Sunday brunch. Friendly service and fun
atmosphere! Yummy food! Bring your appetite generous servings.

Didn't realize before that maple syrup goes really well with fried chicken! Probably one of the best chicken & waffle place in town. We ordered poutine as well. The poutine was alright, nothing too special though (but to be fair it's
a fried chicken place). The waiter was so friendly and the service was really nice. Will definitely go back here again!

I just finished the WBK Fried Chicken Sandwich ($16) for lunch and it was unreal. You get two pieces of FC between the bread with a third piece atop the bun. The FC was crispy, juicy, and noticeably not that greasy. The brown butter sage mayo was an excellent touch and I added hot sauce for an extra kick. My server was pleasant and cheerful. WBK - a fantastic meal all around.

Located at the corner of Bloor and Euclid, White Brick Kitchen has been serving up comfort food since they opened in 2012. If fried chicken and American classics are your jam, White Brick Kitchen has a menu which will have you licking your lips. White Brick Kitchen is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00am to 9:30pm and Sundays for brunch from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Reservations are accepted except for Saturday lunch and Sunday brunch.

If you want the best breakfast- brunch you have to come! I ate toasted with caramel and bananas, and a toasted with cheese and egg and salad.... Boom! Delicious flavours! Great place.
Julie
Brunch here was WELL WORTH THE WAIT! I have been waiting to try the panko egg forever and was not disappointed! If I could have I would have ordered everything off the menu! Can't wait for my next visit to white brick kitchen!
Steak Me Out
White Brick was good but not great, the chicken was crisp but not moist, the sauce more sweet than hot and the fries were filling but not overly flavourful.

Had a fine brunch here today. Scotch Eggs Ă la mode de White Brick Kitchen and bottomless coffee. They don't do any espresso or americano, but service is good and the good is even better.

The bacon is to die for!!!

Brunch! Comfort food and brunch! Did I mention brunch? It's packed so prepare to wait, and wear something comfortable - you'll leave stuffed.

It is, what it is.. Popped in for breakfast on a Sunday. We were seated within 5 minutes (outside on the brisk sunny day). The menu is simple and uncomplicated. Coffee-good. Food-good. Service-good. Nothing remarkable. Just simply good. I would go back, simply because I would. There's no schtick with the place, no pretense and no hype. Just simple food. Good use of pepper. ;)

Fabulous food bang on for brunch. We had come for brunch and had scotch ish eggs with baguette and eggs Benny. The rosemary sausage medallions were to die for. Second time around we had waffles and chicken. This was delicious and can definitely be shared. Must try this gem! Staff are amazing and friendly.

Waited an hour and a half. The food really is great but nothing you can't get elsewhere. They need a new hostess. We were told 30 minutes, then after an hour and a half when we were next, the hostess gave our table for 4 away to a couple. Then when we asked what happened she laughed and said she made a mistake. They are terrible at turning over tables, terrible at respecting waiting clients. I won't go back, not even for the panko eggs.

Best fried chicken i have had in a long time. Brisket burger also delicious.

Delicious fried chicken. Came here on a Saturday night. small place, not very busy, decor was nothing special but our waiter was great (especially near the end of our meal when we were taking our time and didn't realize they'd closed already). ordered the beef shepherd's pie and half buttermilk fried chicken + side of chips. I absolutely LOVED the chicken -- crispy, hot and juicy, chips were delicious. my boyfriend really liked the shepherd's pie but he could've done without this one spice/flavouring they used -- something that had a similar taste to curry; if that's not your cup of tea either you might want to avoid that. biscuits were very good but i was too stuffed to finish them. one thing i did not like -- my glass of white sangria, but I wasn't exactly expecting anything amazing from a place like this.
will definitely return on a Friday for chicken and waffles, which, according to our waiter, will be gone soon!

Full of Love for White Brick. I saw that White Brick had opened up on my way to to work each day for about 6 months, but it was not until I heard the owners were formers cooks at the Stockyards that I ventured to eat there. That was two weeks ago, and I've been back twice!

The staff was lovely, friendly and hospitable - the kind of service that is RARE in this city.

The food was dynamite, the portions large enough for me to have leftovers for a full lunch the next day, and the drinks cheap and good.

I would highly recommend anything on the menu, as I've tried most of it but outstanding items include the meatloaf and the fried chicken the burger with the "cheese skirt" as my friend dubbed it, was also super tasty.

It's my new favourite neighourhood joint! Spot on guys!

Pricey but comfortable & tasty. I've dined here about four or five times now. The food is pretty tasty, but somehow always just short of astounding.

Comfortable seating and good surroundings. The staff is nice.

& their copy of the Sun is always well stocked (giddyup?)

Food was excellent. Ordered the fried chicken and waffles and was not disappointed, chicken was moist and that red pepper jelly was amazing accompanying it. All the food we ordered was wonderful. Will definitely be going back!
Reahpeah
Homemade sausage is delicious.

Had the deviled eggs, nice twist to the classic with onion. The classic breakfast was done to perfection with salad substituted for the meat. This place will hopefully and should become an Annex hit

Came here on Friday and we were the only ones in the restaurant, we both ordered fried chicken, was delicious although the slaw was a little too acidic for my tastes.

Surprised more people weren't here!

Great restaurant and I hope they get enough business since they are close to where I live

The White Brick Kitchen gives new hope to all those white brick buildings in Koreatown , that they too can escape a fate similar to the King George Hotel (like most buildings in Cochrane, I must assume it fell into condemnation, and then burnt down. Correct me if I’m wrong).

The White Brick Kitchen is nestled in the middle of Koreatown. It’s the perfect place to go to if you’re in the area and looking for something that is not bibimbap or pork bone soup. They serve American comfort food. The menu includes things like burgers, salads, fried chicken, mac n cheese, chilli and more. On Foursquare their Buttermilk Fried Chicken ($17) was highly recommended so that’s what I went for. For my side I chose the mixed greens in a lemon vinaigrette. It also came with two scallion biscuits which were nice and moist. Nash loves green onions, so he was a huge fan. The fried chicken, was probably the best fried chicken I have ever had. It was also literally half a chicken, so quite worth the hefty price tag. There was a honey mustard dipping sauce with it but I accidentally thought that was salad dressing. Silly me, but it still worked in the salad. It didn’t matter because the chicken batter was so delicious (and strangely creamy) that it didn’t need any dipping. Nash or

When you cut into the egg the yolk just spilled out. The panko crumbs added the perfect crunch to the soft texture of the egg. The runny egg yolk went perfectly with the baguette.

Once a little random nook that was often overlooked by most people on the way from one Korean restaurant to another, post-renovation and re-design, The White Brick Kitchen has quickly become one of the brunch spots in the Annex.

Both plates arrived at the same time and after a round of pictures, I stole one of the kettle chips. It was the perfect potato chip, season appropriately and really really crispy. I wanted bags and bags of it! I let Abe take first dibs at the burger. He cut it in half and when he bit it was followed by a very contented sigh. I was happily eating the fried chicken and had a slight twinge of food envy when I watched Abe rave about the burger and the kettle chips. We traded food and then I watched Abe rave about the fried chicken. He was feeling so generous he told me The White Brick Kitchen was his favorite out all the places I brought him to.
Michael
First and foremost, the quality of the beef is obviously pretty high, giving the burger exactly the sort of rich, beefy flavour that you hope for.

Buttermilk Fried Half Chicken with Scallion Biscuit and a Choice of Side ($17)

That's the only thing that I need to know and would order from now on at White Brick Kitchen.

The batter is crispy and light with the perfect seasoning.

The half chicken so juicy and tender and fingerlicking good!

Eating this perfect fried chicken while staring at KFC across the street.. and now my friend you know why I don't eat Popeyes or KFC?! I am saving my fat and cholesterol intake for this!

4 Cheese Mac 'n Cheese with Oven Dried Tomatoes and Garlic Toast ($14) was just passable.

Maybe we should have just order 2 orders of Fried Chicken instead?

I will be back more more Fried Chicken!

Brunch Brunch Brunch!!!!! Go here any Saturday or Sunday and enjoy an amazing brunch! There are always a few people wiaiting in line but the employees do a great job of moving people in and out.

The brunch menu on Sundays is more of an extensive and classic brunch menu with items like eggs benedict as well as other specialty dishes that are unique to the White Brick Kitchen. Saturday's the menu doesn't list eggs benedict..which is a personal fave! I've had a classic breakfast dish with toast, eggs and sausages as well as their eggs benedict AND loved them both. Also.....the caesers!! They're amazing.

Went again today and had the "scotch-ish eggs" ... They were so good!

What a great little place. Totally spotless with wonderful service and one killer burger. Everything about it was great. Cooked perfectly, nice chat, great spicy Jack and of course the runny egg. Pepper covered everything. And the kettle chips with bbq dust were out of bounds. Can't wait to try the spicy fried chicken.

A modern and casual family-friendly joint in the heart of K-town definitely stood out amongst the slew of Korean BBQs and kimchi stew restaurants. As we came here for brunch, we just had to order the quintessentially chicken and waffles, which came in a very generous portion. The fried chicken was a little on the dry side but the chicken skin came with an excellent crunch, with a touch of sweetness to connect with the rich fluffy waffle which is typically eaten for dessert. For the real dessert course, we had a mint chocolate chip ice cream sandwich to end a truly indulgent mommy’s-comfort-food experience.

I absolutely enjoyed myself here. The White Brick Kitchen serves up some real hearty comfort food. I had the buttermilk fried half chicken with biscuits and scrumptious salad slaw. Good thing I was hungry, because the portions were huge! The chicken was very good and the slaw was sweet. The biscuits were just a tad dry, but still quite tasty. I didn't have any room for dessert, but I did have the Lindt hot chocolate and that might as well have been dessert. It was AH-MA-ZING; best I've ever had! So smooth and chocolatey and distinctly Lindt. Two others at the table split the sticky toffee pudding, which they enjoyed.

Everyone had a great time here. The restaurant is intimate and quiet. Our server was very sweet and I will definitely come back to try something else.

I’ve only been once on a Sunday (for brunch) but I’ll definitely be back. Next time I’ll also get
there close to opening time because it’s busy by noon and they don’t have too many tables to seat you at.
We sat outside on their deck on one of the few nice day and soaked
in the last rays of the summer sun.

The staff were great and seemed to be having as good a time as the customers, which
was great.

Small (about 20 seats) friendly staff . Has become a popular brunch spot in the Annex; has a nice deck that doubles the seating on a fine day. Given the popularity and size you may have to wait for a seat on weekends.

The menu is not large varies a bit during the week Breakfast/brunch examples include eggs bene, scotch eggs, waffles etc. Lunch, supper choices include a few burgers, mac and cheese, buttermilk fried chicken, shepherd's pie and grilled cheese sandwich. All are good, servings are generous and prices are reasonable (under $ 15).

This joint, smack dab in the middle of Korea Town, is not... Korean. But given its American comfort food, which by the way, is super filling and super tasty, it has it's own bold appeal that warrants another visit from myself, just as soon as I finish my left overs!Every thing I ate in this kitchen was really good. The service is kind, informative and tends to you as they should. The atmosphere actually felt slightly less casual than I expected. Maybe it's due to the darker painted walls or choice of furnishings, but it felt colder than I imagined it to be? Not a problem, just a note.I ordered the half fried chicken meal, thinking that I was a 'real' man for ordering such a massive dish. But man-alive, it was a five piece fried chicken bonanza!Complete with deliciously buttered biscuits and fresh cut fries. The chicken was flavorful, crispy, tender and juicy all at once. Definitely hits the fried chicken spot and is ironically sitting across a KFC.I also tried their homemade chips, which were crispy, crunchy sheets that were well- spiced and not disappointing. The vegan dish was packed with amazing flavor and textures as well. I'd be happy to order any of the dishes on the menu. All sounds great, and from what I had, are also delicious!Overall, I'd return for their food! It's portioned well, prices are reasonable and service was attentive. Great date spot and also sounds really ideal for a brunch.

Once a little random nook that was often overlooked by most people on the way from one Korean restaurant to another, post-renovation and re-design, The White Brick Kitchen has quickly become one of the brunch spots in the Annex. The decor of this Southern comfort food restaurant all-American and nostalgic, but the vibe is clean and modern. Most notably, unlike some other similar establishments that are serving up comfort food, each of the seatings here actually look comfortable and well-thought out. None of those, “we can sit you now, but you’re going to have to sit at the (euphemism for awfully cramped and awkward) corner table, will that be okay?” situations that you might have encountered before. No sir, you will not find that here.

In fact, there is even a polite and well-regulated line out the door. In Toronto on a late Sunday morning, that’s how you know it’s legit. And with the smell of a little bit of fatty goodness and toasted bread coming from the open kitchen, all I can say is, welcome to the Brunch List, White Brick Kitchen.

Our server was great, and as gluten-intolerant Zandra said, she was most impressed that he immediately offered to swap out her toast with a side of their deceptively simple but perfectly balanced mixed green salad with grated percorino to go with her order of the Classic ($9) without casting any judgment or even hesitation. The over easy eggs she requested were done very well (just the way she likes them too, according to her Chu Crew post!) and the sage provided a nice pronounced lemony bitterness to compliment the savoury-sweet pork sausage.

Without a minute of hesitation on my part (which is rare), I ordered the Scotch-ish Eggs ($10). Delicately battered and fried in a light and crispy panko shell, this is one of those brunch items that I will be thinking about for days to come. The slice of buttered baguette upon which the two perfectly soft-boiled eggs sat was also just soft enough to cut through with a serrated knife, and yet retained the crisp edges that it needed. The breakfast potatoes were also done with extreme care, each cube perfectly seasoned and cooked throughout. I was nothing short of immensely impressed.

Final Note: No frills, just good food. I am pleased to inform you that the White Brick Kitchen is now fully liquor licenced so you can get your boozy brunch on with a delicious mimosa, if that is what you so desire!
