This Mercatto is definitely not as nice as the others (specifically the one on Bremner). The service was subpar, and it felt like the server was doing his chores when you asked for anything. The food was decent, but nothing spectacular. This menu is also limited compared to the others.
Cheese board was very tasty. Cocktails were yum. Service started out a bit cold but they warmed up mid-meal. Pasta and risotto were full of seafood as ordered. We set out to eat at Carisma but they were full and recommended we try Mercatto - we're glad we did.

They accommodated our large party of 26 people on a saturday evening. That was very hard to achieve for a downtown restaurant. The ambience is really good. Nice sized restaurant. Had a seafood linguine. It was ok, filling but not out of the world. The waiter was nice and tried to remember my order.

Mercatto tries hard to impress you, but doesn't make the cut. Risotto tasted like under-nuked Uncle Ben's rice. Pizza was garden variety - you could get better pizza at Domino's. The 20 grams of calamari was overcooked and hard. The 40 grams of tuna tasted bland. What am I paying for?

We had a group dinner for 10 and we went with this prix fixe menu #2. We each enjoyed the dinner and the restaurant has a great atmosphere for large but quieter groups. There are lots of good drinks to choose from as well.
