Review Lena Restaurante - Toronto

Valavan Manohararajah
We hosted a birthday party here with a group of 12 in one of their private rooms. They had everything set up perfectly and service was impeccable. We had a couple of servers attend to wine and food through the night. We asked the chef to design the menu and everyone left satisfied! Hard to do with a picky crowd but the staff pulled it off. We will be back!!

Great ambiance and wonderful drinks, but the service was confused with all the three tables on our side of the basement getting several mix ups with orders. The plating of the food was also not good at all, kinda messy and all over the place. But tastes were great and portions were good too! Prices are moderate not too high for Toronto downtown. Overall good experience!

I can't wait to come back! The entrees we got were great but make sure you get a bunch of the shareable items, they're so worth it. And the service was amazing, after filling up on small plates, we decided to cancel one entree and the server/Kitchen were super accommodating. The drinks were delicious as well. And for those looking for photos, they have some really cool spots for that as well.

Very classy upscale bar with boutique cocktails that were invigorating to the tastebuds and interesting to the eye. Comfortable for sitting and city watching if maybe a little loud for conversation. Would recommend to anybody needing a quick stop and a nice liquid libation.

My friend and I both had a wonderful experience here. all of the staff were friendly ,professional ,and displayed good customer service skills. The veal was very delicious, good portion and was able to share for 2 people. The empanadas were wonderful not too spicy very filling. The chorizo did not disappoint as well as the blood sausage. the Leña Paleta was very refreshing. good for summer days and had a nice umbrella for decoration. The churros were very soft and chewy , dipped with the warm chocolate it was very mouth watering and tasted amazing. We left feeling happy. I would recommend this place.

An absolutely beautiful restaurant with attentive and amazing service. I can not express how impressed I was with this place as I chose Lena Restaurante to celebrate my friend’s birthday and they did everything to make sure we had an incredibly memorable night. I’d love to come back here once they open up their basement for dine in but the main room was still beautiful and the food just simply melted in my mouth with every bite. Kevin was an astute and kind server and he was one of the reasons we had a great night. We took all his recommendations food wise and nothing disappointed us, it truly was flavour town. I can not recommend Lena Restaurante enough and this is somewhere you simply must experience if you are in Toronto.

Went for Valentine's Day and had an excellent experience. Fancy spot with delicious food and great wine pairings. I had the grilled octopus and thoroughly enjoyed it. Perfect cocktails as well. A really good overall atmosphere and dining experience.

Quite good but the small plates are quite expensive for what you get. The appetizers were delicious instead, especially the stracciatella and the anchovies. The ambience was lovely too.

I love the deco and the atmosphere. It has the old New York vibe. The area I was at has very high ceiling which is great. We tried Winterlicious menu and it is pretty good. Waited for a long time for desserts and for a period of time, there was no server on the floor. The manager explained it was because of Winterlicious rush and kindly didn’t charge the lunch at all.

Very average food. Well cooked, well presented, excellent ambience, good service, but the flavors were so bland for my palette. We tried the summerlicious menu and were disappointed given the hype and our own expectations.

This conveniently located O&B Spanish restaurant at the South East corner of the Bay on Yonge street, is bright, lively and comfortable - a perfect place to see and be seen around the columnar central bar and tables all along the windows abutting the street. Service is attentive and friendly. I came here to enjoy the Winterlicious special at $28 ++ ($60 once you include the wine, coffee, taxes and well deserved tips) and I must say I was impressed by the imagination and quality of the offerings, best shown in the attached pictures. I'll be back! A Tapas menu is available in the afternoons and before I forget no one is kicked out for having lunch Spanish normal style at 14:00!

The ambience is great but the food wasn’t upto the mark! However I did order the lamb pasta and that was quite impressive. The starters and dessert wasn’t - rest everything was great, service, ambience etc.

After wanting to visit Lena for awhile, I finally made it for Licious. It is a gorgeous venue with clean lines and classy décor. Although there’s no strict dress code, I’d recommend wearing something a little nicer than the jeans and tshirt that I wore. Awkward. . For a starter, we both ordered the Chilled Albacore Tuna Ceviche. The thin slices of tuna were tender and fresh. The crispy fava beans and crema added extra layers of texture making this dish very interesting.

Great service, drinks, meals and amazing dressings for salads.
Oysters are always super fresh.
Overall, it’s a great restaurant. Definitely recommend to visit.

Went for lunch. Appetizers were tasty..got the peppers and empanadas. However, my cabonara pasta was bland and dry. Not sure if I would go back to try other dishes. Quite pricey.

The salt cod fritters and empanadas were perfect bar bites and very tasty our waiter was superb (just the right amount of attentive) the tartare was ok I have had better but love the plates (literally the plates) plating was also cute!!

The ambience is great !! Light music playing ... highly recommend for after work cocktails and snacks

I went here for summerlicious and was blown by the food. I had the charred veal carpaccio, orecchiette & roasted pineapple. Everything was tasty and filling. The orecchiette was definitely the highlight of the meal. I never get pasta dining out and this dish did not disappoint. The cocktails here are delicious too. Overall, I would highly recommend this place.

I’ve been to this place twice and I’ve fallen in love. The space, flooded with natural light through the large windows appears tiny at first, but it’s an illusion. The main level is gorgeous. Copper, green-blues and a colourful bar with fresh fruits lift my spirits. Writing about the restaurant now makes me wish it was the weekend and I was there right now. Ah… soon Caroline, soon. Leña just hits the spot in so many ways.

At the bar having cocktails and just noticed the bar staff making drinks from plastic pre mix containers - one part mix and then add alcohol right in the glass. No proper mixologist. Sad.

Came here for the winterlicious menu with a friend and we were not disappointed. The restaurant itself is quite big so we didn't feel crowded even though there were a lot of diners and the decor was very well done.

Food was great and all 3 courses offered something different than a lot of restaurants in the city offer. Who knew brandy soaked prunes would be so delicious!

In terms of beauty, this spot gets high marks. The bar was stunning, wall art was gorgeous and the tiles were completely Instagram-worthy.

The food was fine, but nothing out of this world. I had the big gaucho and found it wasn't spicy like it said, potatoes were bland and there were too many spring onions. The mushrooms, naan bread and blood sausage was terrific though.

Just try to resist digging into the hot plate of crab cazuela ($14) as soon as it arrives - it will be hard, but trust me, patience is worth it. Instead, make sure you have another small plate to nibble on first, while waiting the requisite five minutes.

Looking back, I should have reached for one of the gaucho empanadas ($13) instead. Supplied to Leña from Susana, Chef Anthony's wife, they’re good, if it weren’t so heavy on the olives. Otherwise, everything else was tasty: the pastry soft and bread-like and the beef and egg filling well spiced. A “chiminasty” sauce (chimichurri combined with Anthony’s scotch bonnet laced nasty sauce) goes nicely with the empanadas and helps to drown out the brininess of the olives.

Afterwards, then you can go back to the crab dip – so why have I made you wait so long? It’s not because it’s piping hot, but rather the fresh crackers that come with the dish. If the crackers haven’t cooled yet, they become a strange texture where the edges are crispy but the middle hard and almost stale tasting; add the crab on and things just get chewy. However, when they’re cooled, the crackers become crispy and pairs nicely with the dip.

The crab cazuela is fantastic. Large chunks of the seafood combined with a light dose of creamy lemony aioli, spinach and fennel slivers on the bottom, a cheesy parmigiano reggiano gratin on top. Unlike some dips where the creamy cheese sauce is most

I originally had given Lena a 2.5 when it first opened. I recently went back (not my choice) and had a completely different experience! I sat in the private room in the back with friends (which was gold and lovely) and truly enjoyed a South American feast. The beef tartar was very well done, and I loved the ham croquetas and empanadas. The churros to end the night are a must
