Awesome place. The ambiance, the patio, the food, the local beer, the staff (especially Madeleine) and everything else was perfect.
The staff are awesome, friendly, helpful and so knowledgeable about everything food and drink related. Always a delight to step inside that place. Nothing but great times there and many more to come
Excellent food, incredible beer selection with great service. Nothing to not like. The back patio is a perfect spot to kick back on the summer.
This is my second time trying Stout this year and I am just as pleased as I was the first time. The service was fantastic and my brie grilled cheese with fig preserve and Granny Smith apple along with the tomato orange soup was absolutely delicious. To top the excellent food and service off, the patio was super cozy and lovely. Great feel, great food & great people!
Went there yesterday before we ubered to depeche mode. So glad we didn't wait and eat near the ACC. Great beer selection! Holy cow! Caesars were awesome :) perfectly made, i had 2 they were so good. Then a really great beer that was recommended. I had the beef dip and Caesar salad, totally delicious! Great spot, great atmosphere. Daniela was our server, she was fantastic!
I am very rarely in that area, but I definitely will be back if I am. It was trivia night and as we were leaving it was getting really busy, so great to see! Great job! I have already told people about you !
A perfect pub with a kind and caring staff!
Excellent food, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
Good food and great beer selection!
Friendly staff that are knowledgeable when it comes to their beers. Great location, especially if you're seeing a concert at the Phoenix concert theatre.
Thanks to the friendly staff at Stout (Erin and Craig for reserving a table of 20 for our group) for accommodating our big group. There are a wide selection of Craft Beers which will keep you occupied while you are busy socializing. Our group really enjoyed ourselves at Stout and we look forward to more meetups to be hosted at such a friendly venue like Stout
Great laid back atmosphere. Been here a few times and have not been disappointed. Poutine is one of the best in town!
Great location and the daily specials (although I did not have them all) were a cause for some head scratching. Good atmosphere and gret selection of Beer. I happened to be there on a trivia night and it was lot of fun.
We visited for the revival night of Beer and Bingo this past week and had a GREAT time! The night was sponsored by Railway City brewery from St. Thomas Ontario. There were two beers I really enjoyed--the Honey Lager and the Gypsie one--and the bingo was actually intense and competitive cuz the prizes were beer cans, glasses, shirts and giftcards, and playing was free!! So awesome :D
Food: I had the Dubliner; it was flavourful (a bit spicy!), the fries were great, the bun soft, and the meat plenty. VERY good sandwich! Unfortunately, my codiners weren't quite as excited about their meals (a bit stingy on the chicken fingers) but the bingo more than made up for it and they have both had great meals there before.
Service: Our server was just OK (maybe it was too busy), but the owner was there and she is simply wonderful! Very sweet, funny, made the rounds to the tables to see how we were doing, and seemed to really be enjoying herself. That was wonderful to see!
Price: Had two beers and a full delicious dinner and the bill came to $30 with tax which is normal when you have alcohol with your meal. The Dubliner was $15 and was well worth it! So ooooo delicious! Tack on the prizes we took home (two won raffles prizes, and we each won at bingo) and we may have left ahead of the game! Ha! ^.^
Summary: Greatly enjoyed this pub, the food and the BINGO!!! I'm excited to go back to try Tricia night :) Definitely recommended!
This place has served me well. Attentive staff with lots of personality. Good wings. Good burgers. Lots of delicious food. Stout has a large beer selection and a number of board games to play with your friends. They also have Trivia on Mondays and Tuesdays. I would recommend this establishment to all types of folks!
Ideal Date Night. I went here with my boyfriend for a date night and it was a great neighborhood find! The food was good (Irish Nachos and Smokey Stout Burger), the beer was awesome (highly recommend Murphy's Irish Stout), and the service was perfect. We didn't play the board games this time but I'm coming back with more friends for my birthday so we might then!
Great selection and atmosphere!. Phenomenal array of local and import beers both on tap and by the bottle. Amazing menu selection. Homemade desserts. BOARD GAMES! Need I say more?
Really Great food for an Irish Pub. The one thing you should realize about Stout is - they actually have really good food for being a pub! We live near the Cabbagetown area - so going to Stout is just a hop, skip, and a jump away. The ambiance is wonderful, the staff are usually nice, and the selection of beer and food is great. What more could you ask for at an Irish Pub? :)
Their blue cheese burger is OUTTA THIS WORRRLD. And any place that serves Fruli and several varieties of white/blonde beers is good in my books.
And they have board games!!
Great food. comfy place. I really really like Stout. I've only been a few times, but every time I just MOAN when I eat the food. The ecclectic beer menu is lots of fun. Never drink the same thing twice there. It would be a sin. There's just too much to explore if you love beers. The staff are professional downtown wait staff. That's one thing I love about eating downtown, good service and professiional people, and Stout has a great gang.
HIGHLY recommend the Hells Chicken sandwich. Beautiful bread... fresh as the morning air, fat juicy chicken breast with a tangy, salty zest and crispy panko crunch and fresh toppings. I don't like to order the same thing time and again, I like to mix it up... but, this is so yummy I struggle to forego my favourite indulgance there.
You can get a sampling of scotches, four half-ounce tastings for twenty bucks! ...Watch the characters of Cabbagetown pass by the large front windows while you relax here, all open across the front in summer. Park on the street out front for two bucks an hour on the meter.
I'll be back.
GREAT PUB!!!!!!. We're SO lucky to live just around the corner, great place to enjoy a variety of beers, great menu, party or enjoy intimate conversation by the fire. Lots of different theme parties and venues, trivia, etc., No attitude, friendly staff , very welcoming..... atmosphere and decor GREAT!!!!! LOVE IT
Love this place!. A rocky start (very expensive at first), and a few stumbles later, this place became our local.
They remembered us from our second visit on, know our usuals, and treat us well.
Must haves- Fish and Chips and Shepherds Pie (one of us can't stand fish, but ate the STOUT portion of Fish and Chips right up).
Also, the burger is one of the tastiest on record. Very nicely seasoned.
Avoid - Poutines. Very tasty, but still very expensive for the price. Guys, simply double up on the fries....it's not a big deal.
So, now that they have lowered the prices on the menu, we enjoy it even more. The price point was tough for us to go regularly, but now it is easier.
We stopped in the Stout Irish Pub for supper. We like pubs and have never been there before. The beer menu is quite extensive. It's great because it's all craft beer ... no big name brands. Gord love love loves craft beer so was in heaven! Gord started with The Devil Scotched These Eggs. I had half an egg and it was okay. Gord loves Scotch Eggs and thought this was okay (he wouldn't order them again). Usually the sausage is wrapped around the egg ... with these ones, the eggs were breaded and the sausage was ground into the yolk. He also ordered Mad Mac with bacon. He liked it and would order it again. I ordered roaster wings (with medium sauce) and fries. They were both delicious and I'd order them again. There were eight wings to the 1.2lb order The wings were huge! The Stout is a fabulous pub and we had a good time there ... too bad it wasn't closer.
Reasonably price food and drinks. Loved the cottage pie. It was my first time having cottage pie. It is good and hearty. The service is great, they let me taste some of the beer before ordering. A place with good vibes and I recommend people bring friends for trivia night. I got destroyed at guessing the songs. I could do the science and history trivia questions.
Was looking for a pub when we were in Cabbagetown. The place has charm. We ordered the fish and chips with a glass of stout ale. the fish was amazing. The chips not so much. The ratio of tartar sauce to haddock needs to be more. Service was good. We had a stroller and were comfortably seated at a corner table near the entrance.
Great little pub and the patio has a nice vibe too. We did return a Mosco mule that my buddy complained about but they took it back with no fuss and gave him a margarita instead and all was well in the world!
Great drink selection, good food, and very fun for trivia night! The fish and chips are always too oily for me when I get through to the second half. Other than, the other food is pretty good!
Edit (2021-08-19): Their patio is very stuffy and there is not enough open space to allow air to flow through. As you can see from my photos, the fish and chips got significantly smaller over the years. Their pulled pork tater tots special was very delicious though!

Excellent service, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is great. it is very wide. for sure we will come back!!!
Decent pre-concert dinner venue (around the corner from the Phoenix). Had a flight; decent sample menu. Definitely going back to try more. Love that they support local!!
Massive portion for my fish and chips order. Fingers were good but another strip would have been more filling.
