Best bacon in Toronto. This is a superior brunch spot in so many ways. Emma's Country Kitchen strikes the perfect balance between being a cute small-town style cafe, and a millennial-style eatery with picturesque, instagrammable eats. Out of the way for the non-drivers of the world, but 100% worth the trip!
Omg! Fantastic brunch!! To die for potatoes, donuts of the day, wonderful atmosphere! Servers were absolutely fabulous!!! We didn’t leave one thing on the plate!
Absolutely the best place to go for brunch, worth the wait. The food and service is outstanding, you won't be disappointed.

Best pumpkin pancakes ( flapjacks) on menu. You could smell them as the waiter brought them to the table.
Went there on a weekday morning for brunch to celebrate a birthday:) Great food (those pancakes were so fluffy and lemon ricotta so frangrant!) and great service. Birthday girl even got a candle on her pancakes:) Will be back again for some homey, comfort goodness which is Emma's brunch:)

Frb 5 was our second time (first time at new location ). We arrived around 930 and only waited about 5 minutes for a seat. No sooner were we seated the line up was out the door. Arrive early if you're impatient. We ordered the blueberry ricotta pancakes and I had the hamburger. Both were amazing. I had the hot apple cider and it was delicious. I don't get the coffee as I'm picky and it's not the best. Service was friendly and we like that we don't have to keep asking for water. Keep up the great work. As soon as the joining property comes available buy it because you'll need the extra seating. No matter how full we are we try5a new donut. Yummy. All the best in 2017. See you again!
The service was excellent and everything was delicious! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for some good breakfast or brunch!
Definitely one of my favourite restaurants. Always a must when I come visit the city! The friendly staff and amazing home cooked meals (especially the buttermilk biscuit sandwich) always has me coming back!
We go here all the time and love it. Great food, great service, kid friendly. You have to get there close to opening to avoid lines but we have a 1.5 year old so that’s no problem for us Love this place!
Love the seasonal treats ! A pick me up staple when I’m having a hard time. I travel an hour across the city just for their amazing breakfast and baked goods! A little Love in every bite!!
OMG! So good! The best breakfast/brunch place around... And don't miss the donuts!
Fabulous ! Hoping to be back soon ! Great salad, excellent service, great vibe, great music !
Base on online recommendations, we chose to go to Emma's Country Kitchen on New Years morning, Do not be put off by the non descript store front. The Restaurant is nice and clean. Expect a line up. To our delight the menu offers a unique and refreshing selection. Each of us, 3 people, ordered different meals and we were equally impressed of presentation, test and price. The staff were organized friendly and worked very well together. As an after note, The staff inquired about possible allergies which we appreciated.
Delicious breakfast! You want that in your life. Emma's specializes in breakfast seven days a week and will make sure that you leave their restaurant satisfied and happy. You might have seen them on season 4 of You Gotta Eat Here! or noticed that blogTO named them the #1 Best All-Day Breakfast in town. They're open from 8am to 3pm every day of the week - don't expect to find any sort of dinner menu here - it's breakfast and brunch comfort food all day, every day!
When visiting on the weekend you can typically expect to be met with a bit of a wait to get in. They tend to move things along pretty quickly, but obviously the later that you arrive, the longer that the wait will likely be. I stopped in on a holiday Monday and the place was bumpin'. You'll usually find them open on statutory holidays when lots of other spots opt to remain closed. The restaurant is fairly unassuming from the street, with their brown signage. On the inside you'll find that the room is quite spacious, with a few tables up in the front and quite a lot more in the back. They underwent a renovation a few years ago which has really helped to maximize their space. The decor is minimal and the ambiance is warm, buzzing and welcoming.
After a reasonable wait, we were seated at a table in the back section and were promptly served by the friendly wait staff.
Emma's wants you to enjoy fresh comfort food and that includes; bakery items that are made fresh in-house daily, using only local meats that they cure and smoke themselves, and freshly fried donuts. The menu is filled with the delicious classics that you crave and each one is done really well. As a tea drinker, I asked for Tea ($3.00) and chose English Breakfast since I enjoy black tea in the morning. Their tea is provided by Tea Squared, a company from Canada. I prepare my black tea with milk and sugar and enjoyed a perfectly warm and pleasant cup. Can't go wrong with that! I also noted that Emma's offers some pretty awesome brunch cocktails, and the Emma's Caesar especially caught my eye. On another day when I'm feeling more "fun" I will certainly give it a try!
There are lots of items on the menu; from their rotating (and usually seasonally appropriate) pancake flavours, to a daily quiche, to the classically southern biscuits and gravy. They've even got avocado toast for the millennials. However, their most renowned item has to be the Emma's Benny (Warm and fluffy buttermilk biscuit topped with house cured peameal bacon, soft poached eggs and smothered in mousseline sauce. Served with a side of red skin potatoes - $16.00), a must-try. The food arrived fairly quickly and I eagerly sliced into my perfectly poached eggs. Emma's signature buttermilk biscuit is impossibly buttery and absorbs the surrounding egg yolk and mousseline mélange decadently well. The peameal bacon is truly something special, utilizing Toronto's famous meat so well. Hormone and antibiotic free, their meats come from the best butcher in town; Sanagan's Meat Locker. Their peameal is salty and tender, a delicious protein base. What's the difference between mousseline and hollandaise sauce? It's a richer version of the classic that uses whipped cream. As if hollandaise could get any better. This benedict is like a hug of happiness for your stomach.
The potatoes were fine, a little bit plain. I could have used a bit more crisp on them, but they tasted good with salt and ketchup.
Emma's is pretty well-known for serving up some of the best donuts in town. Chances are that after eating a big, filling breakfast that you might not think that you have any room left for a donut. So take your donut to-go! You don't want to miss out! Their flavours change all the time (Instagram is a reliable source to find out what they've got in the case each day) and on my visit they had one of their best ones; Maple Bacon ($3.25). A lot of people are doing a maple bacon donut. It's a pretty trendy flavour. But it's my opinion that Emma's is doing the best version of it that I have ever tried. The way that they handle the bacon on this donut is by far the best. It's ultra abundant and crumbly, capturing the salty and sweet combo expertly well. If your a fan of the maple bacon donut, this is the beginning and end of it right here!
Emma's Country Kitchen is a perfect little breakfast (not so) secret. They bring country flavours right into the city and serve up what you dream of for a classically delicious breakfast. You want this!
Once again YELP has pulled through! I knew when there was a line (only waited about ten minutes) on a weekday morning it was going to be a good brekky. Excellent coffee and breakfast. Super surprised and happy there was only a $1 upgrade to replace my bread (trying to be good on my GF diet) with a lovely fresh serving of avocado. Nice service however they were all run off their feet. Will be going again during my stay in the area for sure!
One of my favourite brunches in Toronto would have to be the one at Emma’s Country Kitchen. It’s a little bit out of the way to get to, so we went the morning before heading to Canada’s wonderland since we had a car rental. Emma’s Benny. For breakfast, we decided to get the same thing, since it seemed like this was everybody’s go-to at the restaurant. The Emma’s benny. This was also featured on You Gotta Eat Here! It comes with warm and fluffy buttermilk biscuit, topped with a house cured peameal bacon, soft poached eggs, and smothered in a mousseline sauce. This is served with a side of red skin potatoes, an orange slice, and strawberry.
My friend and I decided to venture away from our usual spots in the east end and we were so happy we did! We showed up just before 11am and it was a 45 mins wait for the two of us but it was worth it. We ordered a main breakfast each and then pancakes to share, we had an indulgent morning. Staff were incredibly friendly and food was delicious. Will definitely be back!
I had Emma's benny and subbed the daily salad for the potatoes and had an americano to drink. I really enjoyed everything. The eggs benedict we cooked nicely (the yoke was almost perfect but just slightly overcooked) and the sauce/biscuit was lovely. The salad was simple but satisfying (beets/argulua/balsamic/feta). Coffee was enjoyable.
We were seated very quickly but there was a line up out the door for most of the morning. Our server was very accommodating and good at his job.
Amazing eggs Benedict! I recommend Emma's benny. The buttermilk biscuits as the base are yummy. The house cured peameal bacon is perfect. The red skin potatoes were perfectly seasoned as well. Mimosas are always a good choice with brunch too. The staff here are great and very attentive.
This morning I went for brunch at Emma’s Country Kitchen. My friend and I arrived before the 9am opening time and there were already locals in line. It’s a super popular spot on the weekends for brunch and also appeared on Jon Catucci’s You Gotta Eat Here. I ordered the Emma’s Benny. Warm and fluffy buttermilk biscuit was topped with house cured peameal bacon, poached eggs and a generous amount of in mousselline sauce (like a hollandaise with whipped cream). It was served with a side of griddled red skin potatoes. The sauce was buttery and delicious and I dipped everything in it. The peameal bacon was not too salty or hard. The eggs were a perfect poach. This dish was heavenly and I washed it down with some freshly squeeze orange juice.

My friend had the Cornbread and Pimento Cheese French Toast. A house made corn bread, dipped in a creamy custard and griddled until golden brown. It’s opped with melted pimento cheese, 2 over easy eggs, avocado, crema and finished with a smoked paprika salt. I stole a bite and it had a heat to it that was balanced well with avocado cream.
This place, even if you have to wait, is well worth it.
Great quality, awesome place, I ordered a French toast with sausage and no doubt was the best toast I ever had. Don't forget to try their donuts as well!
Emma's has the best veggie burgers in Toronto. They change their menu items (most of them) on a daily basis, which only means their products are fresh and creative. The staff is so friendly and efficient. They will accommodate your needs and wishes. Their roast beef sandwich is the best item I have tried so far and for $7, i always leave ordering a second one TOGO. - If you want to make the burgers and sandwiches supreme, add an over easy fried egg- They have seasonal drinks as well, like apple cider during winter, and fresh lemonades during the summer time.
Their donouts are sold on the weekends, but if you want them during week days, you need to order them in advance (i believe it's 24-48 hours prior) and pick them up. The donouts are huge and delicious!!
Really good food - had the classic and my friend got the savoury french toast that was also great. Blueberry donut was to die for. Did have to wait over an hour on sunday for a table for two, which see pretty standard for this place. Very tiny inside. I suggest eating breakfast before you brunch. Staff was very friendly also.
Service
It was fine, normal stuff. I have nothing to add lols.
Parking
I pray you know how to parallel park (look for Green P signs).
Food
You come here for the FOOD and I say this because brunch/breakfast here is godly. First of all, the classic breakfast IS AMAZING. I almost ordered it but opted for the quiche because it looked so good online. The quiche is not bad but I think it would have tasted better with spinach, perhaps I’m not a big fan of squash. The sides/pastry of the quiche is very crunchy and is super tasty. The content (egg and squash) are okay, but not something I would eat again. For the side, I chose quinoa and I kind of regretted it because it felt a bit dry. The dish itself was fine, but nothing mind-blowing. Now we move onto the big breakfast…it was stellar. To start, the eggs look like perfection. The scrambled eggs were organized and didn’t look all spread out on the dish. It was also fluffy when I tasted it, they probably used milk (?) and cooked it at the right temperature and time. The bacon is so big, not a lot of fat, and the right amount of crispiness on the sides. The potatoes, sooooooo good. This dish is the bomb (a happy kind of explosion in the mouth!).
*I just want to add that the menus do change (not sure if it’s a daily basis). Their famous donuts are not available on weekdays and from what I’ve heard it is super packed on weekends. I do plan on coming back for these though lol.*
Was pleasant the small details were amazingly taken into consideration. The bun was lightly toasted and the flavors blended well, fries had a nice crunch, but that didn't last as long as they were super thin. Service was a bit intrusive but very caring. Overall great recommendation and a good place to bring friends, family, and lovers.
Will come back with friends for donuts soon enough!
We went for a late breakfast at Emma's Country Kitchen...on a weekday. (I had the day off...yay me...sometimes it's good to be off on a random day!) I've wanted to try this place for a while now but Emma's Country Kitchen is in the west end near St. Clair and Dufferin where we usually find restaurants in this area a bit out of the way to get to. But, we're glad to have finally made our way there as it was well worth it!
This breakfast and lunch restaurant is always busy, especially on weekends. Try and order ahead or arrive as early as possible since they don’t take reservations in advance and always sell out of their most popular baked goods (doughnuts, biscuits etc). The décor is quaint with everything from an outdoor wicker picnic basket on display behind their counter to a chandelier made entirely of silver spoons and forks. The staff is friendly and quick, a very enjoyable experience.
This place does brunch right. Crazy busy on weekends so make sure to get there early! But so worth the wait. Hands down the best eggs Benedict I've ever had!!!
I found out about Emma's Country Kitchen from the show You Gotta Eat Here...Their brunch is quite nice and worth the wait, but next time I would be prepared to go there early.
Simply amazing. While the lines can be long it is worth the wait. Every item is fresh from the fresh squeezed oj to the house cured meats. Wow. While the stuffed French toast was great.... The cinnamon pancakes... From heaven. Simply the best pancakes I have ever had. Our only disappointment was the donuts were sold out. But we Will be back!!
On our second visit it was almost as good. The homemade sausage was a bit overcooked. The cinnamon pancakes were not as flavourful as last time. But the homemade donuts. Wow. Almost as good as Glory Hole for best in the city. Will be back again... And again... And again....
Egg's benny here I come. I love Emma's Country Kitchen but get there early as they are busy.
I rarely go out for breakfast and when I do,its usually for Eggs Benedict and I love how they do them. Everything there is scratch made and the biscuit they serve it on is delish. You won't need to eat again until dinner! I love the potatoes they serve alongside. I honestly can't complain. Because they use fresh food, good quality meats you just can't beat it.
It's a great little spot serving up great food! Give it a try.
The food is good but they do not have a large selection . The honey oat whole grain bread is to die for too!
Very good food here, obviously it's always packed but worth the wait. The best thing on the menu for me is definitely
The breakwhich, the coffee is very good and pancakes are above average. They usually run out so going there earlier definitely gives you more selection.
You better get here early! :) Emma's is a real treat, everything in there menu is gourmet, even their jams received deserved attention. Great place to go when you need to fill up the morning after, spend time with friends and family, or just grab a gourmet donut to go. Seasonal specials like pumpkin walnut pancakes, or the famous maple bacon donuts are truly something special you won't ever find the likes of anywhere else. My personal fav, anything parred with the in house baked caraway rye.
No review is comete without a complaint... I wish they would have all of the quiches everyday, I am always in the mood for the one that is not "of the day" as I said at the beginning you get to get there early especially on weekends or I will be the guy ahead of you who took that last donut/fritter/cake you lined up for :p
I'm so used to writing reviews to warn away people from bad restaurants that this is a pleasant change. Great coffee, can't be said for many places. Everything we ate was good, from the in-store bread to the sausage patties. Finally a place that can make a decent poached egg! Not watery or in old water. My wife's food was also delicious. We don't usually clean our plates as much as we did, but it was satisfying and just the right amount of food. Well done Emma's.
Outstanding!! The Benny & breakfast burger are awesome and the homemade donuts are incredible!! My new favorite breakfast spot!
WTF!!!!! My wife and I planned a day out in T.O and had spent an hour looking for the perfect place for Brunch. After finding Emma's then battling traffic and paying for parking, we were cruched to find it CLOSED on Mondays when it clearlly states online that its open 7 days a week. No matter how goods the reviews, we will not be returning and we will ensure we let everyone we know that restaurants that dont pay attention to details cant be all thats writen about them.
Favorite Breakfast Spot!. I'm so lucky to live within walking distance to Emma's - the food is always amazing and the service is top-notch. I have never had a meal I didn't love and you can tell that the food is made with love. We usually take home an order of biscuits and jam (made in-house) or steaming beignets which are filled with dulche de leche and sprinkled with powdered suger.
Seriously, hands down some of the best food in the city and a point of pride for Regal Heights.
Breakfast was amazing, the biscuit just melts in your mouth, super fresh, friendly staff ...we will definitely go again!
Amazing!! Service was a bit slow, but worth the wait. Had an Emma's Benny, was so good.... The buttermilk biscuit melts in your mouth. Worth checking out :-D

The décor is quaint with everything from an outdoor wicker picnic basket on display behind their counter to a chandelier made entirely of silver spoons and forks. The staff is friendly and quick, a very enjoyable experience. The Dishes Strawberry shortcake pancakes Served with a whipped citrus butter, perfectly complementing the sweetness of the pancakes. Topped with citrus maple syrup that complements the tartness of the strawberries. A very heavy meal for one person, should be shared. Cinnamon doughnut Ideal amount of sugar (not overly sweet). Light and airy. Made fresh daily. The Breakwich Perfectly poached eggs served on a light and buttery biscuit (flaky on the inside with a crispy exterior) with your choice of meat.
Even though we were on a tight schedule and knew that Emma’s Country Kitchen didn’t take reservations, every bite was worth being 10 minutes late. At 1pm on a Saturday, the restaurant was busy. The dining room itself was small, cozy, seated about 30 people with only one or two large tables. We ended up sitting at the front window and baked in the sun. Despite the line outside, we didn’t feel rushed and the meal was relaxed.
We all agreed that the Rocky Road was our favourite. You feel like you finally know what real chocolate tastes like, and it doesn’t taste like SUGARSUGARSUGAR. They found a way to make rocky road without the need to be hyper sweet! THANK YOU, EMMA!
I don’t really know what else to say. It’s quaint, it’s well-priced, and it’s a great place to go for breakfast, lunch or brunch. For many, its lack of significant wow factor may be a deterrent for traveling to an isolated restaurant in the morning. However, if you live in the neighbourhood, it may just become of of your go-to spots!
Slicing the perfect bite, assembling slices of the egg, Canadian bacon and buttermilk biscuit, I gulped it down in one swish. Utter yumminess. I must have a stupid smile of contentedness. Everything on that plate I would eat on its own but having them all together was stellar.
They do a fantastic benny and their house-cured bacon is some of the best I’ve ever had. Just make sure you get here early to avoid disappointment!
Have been hearing about Emma's Country Kitchen ( @emmacountrykitc ) on twitter for a while and one Sunday, we decided to head there for Brunch when no specific cravings pop up. Nothing much in terms of decor, very simple with the kitchen at the back but there was quite a few thoughtful touches throughout the place such as the vintage bottles as vases, red checkered fabric as displace case backdrop and the cutlery chandelier. When we got there it was packed and the only table lefts was the smaller bar tables at the front. Iced coffee and fresh squeeze orange juice Emma's Benny $13 ~ warm & fluffy buttermilk biscuit top with house cured peameal, poached eggs and smothered in mousseline sauce w/ a side of griddled red skin potato The poached egg was perfectly cook, the mousseline / hollandaise sauce was just as perfect and love the fresh fluffy biscuit. I could easily devour anything on this plate on it's own but having everything together in one bite is just heavenly. Memories of the
Emma’s Country Kitchen is a no-frills, exactly-as-advertised little restaurant. The first photo highlights a simple B.L.T. sandwich ($5), served with a choice of fresh, homemade bread and tied together with a bit of aioli that Eric ordered. I decided to get a slightly heartier option, pictured in the second photo, and ordered the Breakfast Biscuit ($5.5). This is a rich, homemade buttermilk biscuit served with an over-easy egg, cheddar, and choice of meat (sausage is pictured). Eric and I both a side of red skin roasted potatoes ($3) which were tossed in coarse sea salt and thyme and really quite delicious.
The flowers in a mason jar on every table are just one of the many adorable “country charms” that make this place stand out from other places in the big city. While this restaurant may not stand out as being particularly creative or different in a more rural setting, in Toronto, it kind of is a true novelty. Plus, if you want to take a little of the country charm home, there is also a great selection of frozen treats (portioned cookie dough, soups etc) and baked goods that all feature their signature red and white gingham and/or brown paper bag packaging.
Final Note: I hear they also have great doughnuts!
Like most Torontonians brunch has become not only one of my favourite meals, but one of my favourite weekend pastime activities. On a rather chilly spring morning, I ventured out with my sweetheart on St. Clair West to Emma's Country Kitchen. This is not a fancy place by any means - the name says it all. But the moment you walk into Emma's Country Kitchen you feel like you're at home. Coffee or tea and the newspaper were offered immediately even though we had to wait for our table. The wait wasn't long but I was disappointed to learn most of the daily specials were sold out. If you want a chance at trying anything this place is famous for get there early! I had the classic breakfast and was delighted by the homemade biscuits and sausage that accompanied my plate. If you love brunch as much as I do visit Emma's Country Kitchen.
We started our crawl at Emma’s Country Kitchen with full brunch. Let it be known that donuts go very fast here, so we made sure to order the donuts before they sold out!
The base donut underneath all the toppings was not too oily and not too dry. It was overall a good bite, and very fresh tasting.
Misses
Peach Ginger Glaze Donut – The Peach flavour was nice but we weren’t fans of the ginger glaze. The flavour concentration wasn’t even around the donut so sometimes you got too much peach or ginger in a bite. You feel like you’re always missing something from one bite to the next.
The Lemon Raspberry Donut – We could have done without the dried/candied lemon on top. The Raspberry frosting by itself would have put me in a Homer Simpson coma but the lemon taste was just too zingy for the already sweet donut.
HitsWe all agreed that the Rocky Road was our favourite. You feel like you finally know what real chocolate tastes like, and it doesn’t taste like SUGARSUGARSUGAR. They found a way to make rocky road without the need to be hyper sweet! THANK YOU, EMMA!
