I loved that and the added dishes were very tasty! I always love my experience at the Mandarin. The attendants are very quick to clear the table of dirty dishes and make you feel welcome.
TONS of variety, friendly staff, hot, healthy, delicious and a pretty good deal. Sushi, lamb, prime rib, and even 'gourmet' foods. You can eat right away too. Much better than your usual buffet style restaurant.
We were recently at Mandarin at Eglinton and Yonge to celebrate our Mom's birthday. She always loved that location and enjoyed every bite of food there. Everything was festive for the Chinese New Year and we tried four plates of food before ending with the ice cream and some Nanaimo bars. I wish they had the chocolate covered strawberries they have in the summer but considering it was winter...
The hot and sour soup was wonderful, not too spicy and I am a spice wimp. We even tried the Thousand Year Old Egg Salad which was quite exotic and fascinating. Not my favourite thing on the menu but I have never had anything quite like it. For the New Year they also has dumplings which were very good.
I have had sushi there before that was quite good but this time it was just OK. Focus on the Chinese food and you will be fine. I loved trying a little bit of everything as usual at Mandarin and maybe we will go back for Mother's Day this year too.
Just walking into the restaurant....the atmosphere was visually nice, not too crowded but very COLD!!! I and my man were freezing and got goosebumps.
The food was very delicious and I overall had a decent time dining for the lunchtime hour.
I only have gone here once since I prefer Chinatown food over Chinese franchises, but I was willing to give it a try.
While the service and interior were nice, it took us half an hour to get a seat. I didn't really mind because the person at the front podium was really good at entertaining us. In terms of food, the most memorable part was the non-alcoholic drinks since they were unique. Since I got the buffet special, I found everything to be bland and lacking flavour. I think I even had to ask for sauces on the side.
If you want to go to a chinese franchise, this is definitely the best one. However, there are other places that have better food in my opinion
Best buffet of my life!. I love Chinese food and I was determined to visit Mandarin buffet when I came to visit Toronto last summer since they don't have any Mandarin chains in Calgary. The buffet did not disappoint! For only $25, the buffet included a wide variety of sushi, beef roasts / various cuts of steak (like rib-eye, yum!), pizza, a waffle area, cold and hot sea-food, pasta salads, and Chinese food (obviously). They also had a nice selection of desserts, fruit, and ice cream which was awesome! My only regret is that I did not have the time to visit this buffet twice. I will definitely be back when I'm in Toronto!
What's not to like ?. Superb intercontinental buffet ever. From sushi, noodles, meat on sticks, salad, cakes and dessert ...they have thought it all. Drinks range from cocktails, mocktails, juice, pops and beers. If you come alone, you will be served with a time limit per table, usually about 90 mins. There are time when there's very limited seating, it does happen often, so the best is to reserve a table for the number of people dining with you. On quiet days if you are lucky, then you got yourself a table.
A family thing!. This place, although not very classy, is always a hit with my family. If you have a large appetite and like just about anything, you will be happy here!
It's really busy and they can accomodate large parties which is convenient. If you think $20 is too much for all the food in the world, then this place isn't for you.
I like it.. secretly!
Great Buffet. I visited this location based on the recommendation of a friend. It was a welcome recommendation.
I was very impressed with both the service and the food.
When I arrived they asked me if I had been there before. When I told them it was my first time, I was given a brief tour of the buffet. Later, when my server (for the drinks) arrived, she remarked about it being my first visit and would answer any questions that I had. I have never been made to feel more welcome in this kind of restaurant in my life. My visit coincided with some kind of Chinese festival, so every diner was given a plastic version of a lantern as a "gift." I found this to be a nice touch.
My biggest complaint with most buffets is that the food sits there forever under the hot light and never tastes like it is fresh. Not the case here. All of the dishes I ate were hot, fresh and very flavourful. I was impressed with the number of options available.
Next time I am in Toronto, there is little doubt that I will be paying a visit to this restaurant.
Best Restaurant. Sushi, Chinese food, roast beef, shrimp, lobster this place had it all. I love going to this place after playing a pickup soccer game. It's a nice atmosphere that isn't too fancy but most importantly the price is right and the variety of food is just amazingly good for its value. I'm probably going to back over next weekend and the next and the next!

the food is actually pretty decent. I mean, it’s a buffet and Mandarin takes the quality pretty seriously,
We went to this location for my wife's birthday.
I have heard about Mandarin, the food is always great, the service is always usually pretty good.
This was my first time coming here.
The decor is kinda funky, and the location is fairly large.
The food was pretty good, lot's of choices at the never ending buffet.
We went on a weekday evening around 7pm, so I understand it was busy but what I didn't appreciate was the fact that people kept bumping into me, STAFF INCLUDED.
I couldn't believe it, it's not as if I was walking zig zag either.
And we had a waiter hovering around our table.. constantly.
I don't mind them picking up our plates when we are done, but to pretty much stand at the end of our table.... during the entire meal?
Buzz off, we'd like some privacy.. jeeze.
I hate over friendly staff and thats what they're. Food was good and love when I am restricted on the quantity I can eat. We were four of us and the bill came up to $110 with unlimited pop and tea service at a fixed cost.
Anyway, good decent food, but may not go again and rather visit my own Hakka Chinese restaurants.
A good variety of dishes for an all-you-can-eat restaurant. The prices seem affordable. As of May 2022, the lunch buffet (11:30 to 15) is $25 and the dinner buffet is $35.
We went for lunch and we were so happy to visit here. Their hospitable staff are around to help you. They came to the table from time to time and asked if we needed anything. Drinks are not included in the buffet but the rest are covered. The prices of the drinks are also fair compared to their portion and quality. We had a small birthday party and they took a photo of us and printed it and gave it to us as a memory of the day free of charge.
I would definitely come back.
Some minor issues to improve:
- utensils seem a little old.
- I expected more Asian dishes but still we had so many options to try.
If you don't like Mandarin we can't be friends!
It's nostalgic. It's tasty. It's filling. What more could you want? Cheap but good wine? Yeah they have that too!
Y&E location has some of the nicest staff in the industry.
Visited Mandarin restaurant at Yonge and Eglinton today. It is the first time I visited this restaurant in this location. It was a fabulous experience. The spread of food in the buffet was amazing and each dish competed with the next in taste. The Sushi bar was also very interesting and the deserts were too many to do justice. The accompanying coffee with the desert was just that touch of class. Excellent return for a very small fee. I would return here as often as my waistline can afford it. The service was impeccable and all that we saw were big smiles on the staff. Great to be able to dine in in this wonderful restaurant.
I went this past weekend and it was amazing. Went down town Toronto, it was great. Rooftop parking, and the best food. The staff were accommodating to me and a breastfeeding mother, they gave me a whole room to feed my daughter.l, thank you again from e the best time.
I love the music 🎶 and the themed atmosphere and the staff is always attentive and super friendly. Not really anything bad to say other than I wish I could spend all day here.
We have ordered take out from Mandarin during the pandemic. It's always fresh and tasty. The dishes are consistent in flavour, which we like when re-ordering.
This time we started with spring rolls, hot & sour soup, and mushroom egg drop soup. All delicious.
For the mains we had torpedo shrimp (great with fresh lemon juice) teriyaki meat balls, and chicken chow mein (bean sprouts, chicken breast and other veggies) All the mains were tasty and fresh as well.
When we're in the mood for Chinese food, we know we can rely on Mandarin for quality, taste & value.
