A never fail meal experience with an outstanding food. A great environment too. Service is friendly and efficient, but sometimes spotty when they get slammed.Nevertheless, well -worth the wait and to be honest that rarely happens. :)

Love this place! I'd say arguably the best true Japanese style izakaya in Toronto, with great attention to quality of food. Even the desserts are excllent, along with the rest of the menu and daily specials.

Very friendly staff who know the menu well. Good sake collection and creative ways of serving traditional izakaya food. Even the restroom has unique Japanese music. Food quality is excellent!

My Wife and I recently decided to have our Wedding reception dinner at Kingyo and let me say that it was the best choice we've ever made - each and every single one of our friends said they absolutely loved the food, service, and friendly atmosphere. We've been coming to Kingyo for a while and we've always enjoyed the warmth and friendliness by all the staff, especially Hitomi who always make us feel like we're almost family. The food is amazing, absolutely deliciously amazing. Chef Koji is a culinary master and the flavours and combinations speak for themselves - everyone should visit often because their seasonal menu is always changing - it's soooooooooooooo good - we had the softshell crab salad last night (as well as a bunch of other tasty treats) and it was super delicious!!! Get the rib though, always get the rib! haha. Thanks for always taking great care of us!!! We'll be back soon! Sincerely, Kal and Winnie ;D

Went to this restaurant for the first time last night for my birthday and the food was absolutely amazing. Service was great, although we did have to flag them down to pay the bill, but otherwise a stellar experience. 10/10 would eat again.

I would come here all the time for brunch! Their brunch menu is really good, but if you go, check out the Bento set!

We stumbled upon this place by accident. From the moment we walked through the door it felt like we were transported to Japan! The servers were friendly and the food was amazing! Definitely will be back!

My friend invited me to try this place before they closed down for renovations. The staff knew their menu well and have good recommendations when it comes to which drink goes well with what dish. We ordered the deluxe bento box which is like a sampler set of nine dishes, the nigiri special, the tiger prawn tartare, the beef tongue, a bottle of sake, yuzu G&T, Moscow mule, and the Doraemon drink. 1) Bento Box I don't remember which dishes came in the set but I really enjoyed the ebi mayo the most. I believe it also came with karaage, salmon, beef, corn, and others. There's enough food to share with another person as well. 2) Nigiri Special The fish they used is from Taro Fish. Not much to say except for it being fresh. The Nigiri already has wasabi added to it so it doesn't come with any on the side. The tuna tataki bowl was also pretty good. 3) Tiger Prawn Tartare The dish comes with garlic toast and the tartare is mixed with avocado. It was quite lovely and I enjoyed the garlic toast. 4) Beef Tongue I've never really tried this before and it was unexpected. I did find the meat to be slightly salty but the sauce it came with complements the beef tongue well. 5) Drinks The bottle of sake we ordered was recommended by the staff as it pairs well with the fish on their nigiri plate. The cocktails were regular but I liked the yuzu g&t the most. The food is what you'd expect from an izakaya and a bit on the pricier side too. But I would come back and try their noodles next time since I didn't get the chance to. The service was good, the food came pretty quickly and the server was attentive.

Highly recommend this authentic Japanese izakaya. Food is yummy and affordable. Service was very friendly and they took the time to explain to us each dish. Only thing is that they took a while to pour us some water. Would visit again!

Absolutely fantastic. I wasn’t expecting it to be this good - I got the beef tataki salad to start, and had the steak don. Great portion sizes, great quality and delicious as well. Definitely returning and trying some of their other dishes as well (pressed sushi!!) - 10/10

Great place! They have a very interesting interior design, decorated with retro Japanese toy and stuff. Ambiance is very nice. Food is great! Fish was great (both himachi and any sashimi). Really recommend.

Don’t forget to reserve the seat online before you come. Nice environment. The food tasted really fresh. Love the taste of the lychee cocktail. The pork in the bento box tasted so soft and juicy. The beef tongue dish allowed you to cook the beef tongue on a hot stone, which is a fun experience. Super nice staff that makes me felt welcoming. Will definitely come again for its good food and service!

This place was on my list of places to go and it did not dissapoint. The sashimi tasted fresh and buttery delicious. The sushi was also amazing, the flavours were well balanced and unique. Servers were all friendly and was accommodating to us when we didn't have a reservation.
