The place was crowded and we sat at the bar.
While the bartender was attentive the waitress wasn't. It felt like we had to call her for everything, incl. bread.
Our mushroom salad was great. Very flavorful.
The Arancine was dry and not what I expected.
The pasta special spaghetti Bolognese needed more tomato sauce.
The food was served hot which is good.
Creme brule might have been the best I've had.
The coffees were great.
Loved my Affogato.
The wine: Too pricey $17 for a 5oz glass too much!
The restaurant feels very cozy.
I would come back
If you want a traditional Italian meal with impeccable service La Bettola Di Terroni has you covered! The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is delicious.
For a great experience, order yourself a bottle of wine and start with the ‘Tavoliere Del Giorno’ a delicious assortment of meat and cheese. After you’ve devoured that I would suggest going with their specialty the ‘Chitarra Norcina’ which is done perfectly ‘al denté’. To finish up a great experience order their Corretto Espresso which will leave you all warm for your trip home.
Carbonara and bolognese were extremely tasty, slightly too salty. Smendozzata pizza was deliciously balanced, but the crust left much to be desired. I understand the middle being slightly doughy, and the crust being thin, but as I cut into it, it felt like I was cutting through the toppings with nothing underneath. I prefer Libretto's crust.
I don't understand why this company insists on discourteous service. The gentleman serving us stuck his nose up at me a few times: 1. When I couldn't remember the name/how to pronounce of the beers; 2. After ordering our dishes, he made it sound like we ordered poorly ("Don't fill up on bread, there's a lot of food coming"). Actually, that last comment really did make me think twice and raised my expectations on the portion sizes when in fact we finished all three dishes without effort; 3. Informing us of our limit of 2 hours at the door.
With all their talk about "authentic Italian", you'd think they'd embrace all parts of Italian dining (extremely friendly, one-of-the-family type atmosphere, and the fact that dining is a social sport in Italy, one that can last for hours into the night).
Excellent staff, excellent food, affordable, and super accommodating. I have been to La Bettola so many times I have lost count. As an Italian I feel confident saying that this is the best Italian restaurant in Toronto. The food is simple Italian comfort food with a classy, trendy, twist. The staff is so great, and the chef is even happy to make something off menu that you may be craving if you provide enough notice. Try everything here but especially the orecchiette with peas and sausage.
Perfect when you're craving delicious Italian comfort food. Every kind of their pasta is worth trying, as well as anything dolce. It's featured on my blog as one of the best Italian places in Toronto!
This is a great place for a delicious Italian lunch. Great pizzas and a wonderful selection of desserts. The affogato is a great finish to any meal.
Hands down best Italian food in Toronto. And this is coming from an Italian. Food is fantastic. Service just as good and ambiance is excellent. If you are lucky enough to be there when the orecchiette with sweet peas and Italian sausage is on the special menu, order it. Don't ask questions or doubt it, just order it. Trust me!
Decent food - we had some calamari appetiser a pizza and a salad. They were good but not great. Service was a bit slow. It seemed our waitress was covering a big hall that she couldn't be more attentive.
Great food. The restaurant is great with lots of energy. The service and food were all excellent. Loved it!
Great food, Good Wine. Wonderful authentic Italian food. Great wine choices at decent prices. Knowledgable sommelier that paired our dishes. Portions are decent (not American). Ambiance is O.K. but the lighting was a bit bright. I would not go back due to the clientelle.
Great food, and amazing attention to detail!. Have to admit that my meal at Osteria was a completely unique dinning experience. I love the concept! Its so rare to find a restaurant in Toronto that is willing to take a risk on a menu that changes daily. Also, glad that between the rotating choices for dinner there were vegetarian options for my partner.
Our table was right next to the kitchen and with several of our courses the chef would would talk to us about the dishes and their history. Not sure it that is a regular occurrence or we just got lucky but it made the night . I would defiantly go back!
Questionable Service, Good Food. I really enjoyed the food and the concept with the combos they offer, plus the menu changes on a daily basis for variety. However, we mad reservations and we had to wait 30 minutes for our table, so we were not very happy. The restaurant did compensate us by giving us a free round of shots at the very end of our meal. I would love to go back!
I went there last night and since it was a wednesday didn't even have to wait. The waitress was very poilite and I had the 5 antipasti primo and secondo. Having lived in Italy I have to say that I miss the good food there. This restaurant makes great southern Italian dishes. My wife's timballo(which is a type of risotto) was delicious and my Ciceri and tria was also very good. The lamb was special too. Overall excellent place I recommend it!
Great food and location. Took my friend here for her birthday for lunch. Food was great. It's a small place and very busy. Customer service was attentive and courteous. Had the grilled squid and clams pasta. Will come again.
Have had dinner here many times.... For both larger parties and smaller/intimate dinners. All my experiences have been great. The food is always amazing, service is great and the ambiance, enjoyable. I never felt rushed or anything like that even in larger parties (even had one with 14 people). I love looking at the cold room they have in the front - it's like how they do it in Italy! Great place overall!
Comfortable, friendly, great service....the food....fabulous! The agnolotti dish is out of this world- the beef is spectacularly tender....it's braised in white wine for a week....melt in your mouth YUM!
If you would like to eat crap and pay a hefty price for it...please come here! The antipasti was the only good thing with the wine- the stake was like chewing rubber, the pasta like eating dry straws and the lobster like eating something picked out of a garbage dump site. Eat a hot dog if youre hungry and in downtown but save your stomach and your evening from being a total disaster. Plus it burns a hole in your pocket- a very smelly distasteful stinky hole. Dont let the ambience fool you...its worse than a dump!!!
Food took a long time, but both fish dishes (black cod and seared tuna) was very delicious and very well cooked.
Great Agnolotti and Gnocchi. Portions were perfect sized. No leftovers - the way it should be. Service was OK but nit outstanding. Tiramisu was strong espresso flavour - excellent. Will do it again.
Great, unique italian. Perfectly cooked pasta. Perfect and unique flavors. Proper portions. fantastic coffee! This spot has become my favorite spot for lunch downtown. And I normally stay away from Italian.
Great food, spotty service. I've now had dinner twice at La Bettola (it's one of the nicer dining experiences within walking distance of the Canon Theatre) and in both cases, I thought the food was very good and the service was indifferent during the first visit but really good the second time. The difference in service was likely attributable to the amount of people both in the restaurant and waiting at the door ... note, this restaurant does NOT take reservations. So, the key learning is that if you want great service, go early or don't go at all. However, even if the service isn't great, the food certainly is. The beef carpaccio was one of the best I have had in recent memory - the meat beautifully aged and flavoured. I also tried the potato croquettes - a nice crisp to them and the meat filling is good, but this is probably a dish that looks slightly better than it tastes. On the salad front, both the tuna salad and beet salad were excellent. From a "mains" perspective, I had the Spaghetti al Cacio e Pepe (with cheese and pepper) on both visits. The menu does "warn" you that the spaghetti is served very al dente. The first time I had it, I didn't find this to be true, but the 2nd time, the spaghetti itself was different and it was almost crunchy. I also tried the Strozzapreti with the N'duja sausage which was outstanding but the sausage was so spicy that we needed bread to wash it down (and I love heat)! Haven't tried the pizza yet, but looking at the tables around us, it's clearly very popular and looks quite good. Did not try dessert as there was nothing on the menu which inspired me and I'm more of a savoury gal than sweet.
Loved it. Great personal service, you must try the appetizers.Home-made pasta was excellent.
Always busy, very fresh food. Their coffee is really good, even the cappuccinos to go.
If you go alone, be prepared to sit at the counter.
I am a fan of all pizza options with fresh arugula on top (added after baking).
Very noisy though, so take that into consideration.
I look forward to the new location around the corner, to see what it will become. Hope the prices do not increase too much there.
La Bottela Di Terroni is a restaurant located within walking distance of the Toronto's Eaton Centre. The restaurant is actually separated into two separate wings - La Bottela Di Terroni & Osteria Cicerietria. Di Terroni is serves mainly pizzas & paninis whilst Osteria serves mainly homemade pastas. Today Memie and I tried the Di Terroni. I stumbled across it with Memie when we were walking to our reservation for Winterlicious at Starfish. Needless to say, the quality of food here is very high - reminding me of the caliber of Italian food I had during my visit to Italy last year. The high prices were also indicator quality ingredients. We both ordered paninis - which are only served during lunch - I had the Panino Classico & Memie had the Panino con Salmone. We split both of our paninis in h
The most impressive is the lob of creamy buffalo mozzarella – it stretches and disintegrates beautifully, unlike the fior di lattes that go for half the price. The deep-fried dishes are immaculate.
The Italian roots remain strong: the first pasta is a Cacio e Pepe, a cheese and pepper pasta dish in every corner of Rome. Today, it was a red fife-crusted tuna, glowing pink, on a cool eggplant paste.

What a nice little place for visiting with friends! Accessible for wheelchairs, too!
Great atmosphere and fun menu! I had the C'T Mang pizza on the recommendation of a friend and was delighted at the flavour combination! The calamari and selection of regional meats were both shareable, delicious appetisers.
Bettola never disappoints. I just ordered today's special, a duck leg served with fingerling potatoes roasted in duck fat. The portion is a tad small I must say. It came with a salad of thin fennel shavings, pomegranate seeds and blood oranges. Stunning! The service is excellent, friendly and fast. I always sit at the bar. Atmosphere is casually elegant and energetic.
Starving after a day of shopping at an awkward restaurant hour La Bettola didn't even blink. We were whisked inside, given a warm welcome and a glass of wine. Service superb, the ambiance true Italian joy and great food. We loved our pizza so much we had 2. Then my daughter munched on a perfect carpaccio with grassy olive oil and loads of Parmigiano. A must visit.
This restaurant was one of the restaurants recommended to us by a friend. The food was great especially the cacio e pepe. It’s very hard to find a good one. The waitress was also very nice and accommodating. We ended up ordering again delivery at the hotel but it wasn’t the same branch so I’d keep the 5 stars as they deserve it.
I went here on 14th feb and was amazed by how well organized the place was despite being so busy. The staff was really helpful, polite and friendly. The food was super delicious. Highly recommended place for fine dining!
Went here for a date night to celebrate our five year anniversary. The waitress was amazing, super friendly and attentive. Food was really well made and probably some of the best pasta I've ever found.
Only part that wasn't great was my boyfriend finding a fruit fly in his drink. But the staff immediately took it back and replaced it with no charge.
Amazing service, perfect wine recommendations and the grilled octopus appetizer was the best we have ever tasted! We also recommend the new ravioli entree and the tiramisu for dessert was out of this world!
Great food, very kind and attentive staff and decently accessible (no stairs to the washroom).
Would recommend.
Fabulous food and location. The staff were excellent, a wonderful dining experience.
