When we started planning our wedding we decided that the food had to be amazing, it was our top priority and then the venue. I walked threw the doors of the Globe Bistro and I just knew this was it. The place was just the right fit for the both of us, the atmosphere was exactly what Andrew and I were all about. Then we tried the food and it was melt in your mouth incredible! I loved that there was character and history to the building. That I was going to walk down an aisle that was actually the floors of old bowling ally that use to call this building home. It was truly the greatest night of our lives. Staff were so welcoming to our guest that everyone just felt right at home. Till this day people are still talking about how crazy amazing our wedding was and how the food was to die for!!!! Sitting under the stars and feeling a gentle summer breeze, enjoying a drink at the end of the night of our wedding on the patio of the Globe Bistro. It was just an awesome ending to one night we will never forget. Every year my husband and I take a trip down memory lane and spend our wedding anniversary on the Danforth on the patio of the Globe bistro. We enjoy our special dessert every time, which is poutine! I want to thank Adrian and staff for all the help in everything that made our wedding go off with a hitch. To of course the chefs that made the food that no one will ever forget, we want to thank you all! I also want to thank Adrian and staff for welcoming Andrew and I back every year and thank you for making us feel so special!!! If you are having a wedding and you want a place for just a few family and friends don't look any further then the Globe Bistro. It will truly be a place for eat, love and laughter. A place for memories! A place for delicious, mouth watering food that you will want to lick your plate! 4 years later we look forward to seeing everyone again.

We had my daughter's wedding at the Globe Bistro on Aug. 13/16. The evening was exceptional in every way. All of the staff were totally professional, accommodating towards every request and NICE. Appetizers never stopped coming while the room was prepared for the main meal by the staff after the wedding ceremony and the canapés were soooo delicious. The dinner was outstanding and all of our guests commented on the delicious choices of menu. The bar staff were beyond belief with their ability to deal with so many people all requesting drinks of every sort, all at the same time. The food server staff were amazing and I was so impressed with their attentiveness and smooth service. We danced all night. The rooftop patio was a particular hit and just lovely. The attention to the details so impressed me that I have to commend Adrian and all of his staff at the Globe Bistro. All of our guests commented on how wonderful the wedding had been. You all made our event spectacular.

My boyfriend and I had a great dinner here last night. The staff were welcoming and friendly, not at all pretentious. The food was AMAZING. Very tasty. We had the butternut squash soup, which was delicious and steak that was top-notch. I would recommend this place to anyone. It's great place to take a date.

My husband and I got married at the Globe Bistro just the other day. I cannot express enough how amazing everything turned out. The set up was gorgeous, the service was amazing and on point, and the food was incredible. All of our guests kept raving about the beautiful venue and I couldn't be happier The attentiveness of the staff. Thank you so much to Adrian, Jake, Zeb, and Pierre for going above and beyond and doing an outstanding job.

I went here on a weeknight, using a groupon for the 7 course tasting menu.

The space is lovely! Great decor. It's also much bigger than I would have imagined. The wine list focuses on Ontario wines. I enjoyed the Cave Springs dolomite.

The food was overall decent, with a few standouts and one disappointing dish.

We started off with a smoked duck cracker as an amuse bouche. It was delicious and smokey. Next came the one disappointing dish - a mushroom soup. It just wasn't all that flavourful. Next was a tempura squash blossoms dish with radish and some kind of delicious sauce. This was lovely.

Trout with crispy skin and pickled vegetables was delicious. The meat course was beef with a black quinoa and crispy kale. It was nicely cooked, and though the sides aren't foods a particularly enjoy, they were well prepared.

Cheese, crackers and apple came next and it was fine, though I'm not sure what the thinking behind charring the Brie rind was.

Dessert was peach based with fresh peach, a tasty ice cream and some cookie crumbs. Overall it was nice though there was also a really doughy lump of cookie on the plate that shouldn't have been there.

At the very end they gave out fantastic salted espresso caramel truffles.

The service was great, the food was mostly good, though not outstanding.

Excellent Taster's Menu! The service was attentive and friendly, the decor is elegant and warm and the chef displayed superior skill that night using all fresh local ingredients from farm to table. Atlantic shrimp with sun dried tomato paste and chattily was fresh and flavourful. Braised short beef ribs was tender and very exquisite. The four different scoops of sorbet (the lavender one was fragrant and refreshing) were all each crowd pleasers. Highly recommended resto!

Good brunch. Had a nice brunch on Sunday recently.....the omelettes and waffle were very tasty. We also tried the smoked trout and it was delicious. The restaurant ambiance is nice, the food was good, the only thing I would mention is that we waited a really long time for the food to arrive. Other than that it was good!

Loved it!. Two of us went there with a Groupon coupon (2pax, 5course for 69$); I had called in advance to check what the daily menu was: roast red pepper soup (I'm not usually a fan of soups but this one was so amazingly delicious!), salad with prosciutto and goat cheese (really tasty, although it was a bit funny to see it arrive in a HUGE plate, with the salad artistically laid out on one tiny side), black cod (fantastic) and our main, roast pork loin with some coffee rub, was excellent. I chose the cheese (good) and my partner chose the chocolate tort (amazing). The service was very nice and the overall experience was really impressive! With that coupon, it was an amazing deal!

Excellent Service. My wife and I went for Summerlicious 2012. We shared all items and had Corn Chowder and Elk Chorizo to start. The chowder was well seasoned and creamy and the elk chorizo had really nice texture. For the main we had Baked Perch and Jerked Chicken Leg. The chicken was tender and cooked perfectly with a really good jerk favouring. The baked perch was a bit bland but they seemed to be receptive to the feedback. The dessert was a perfect ending to the meal. We had the eton mess with fresh berries and crunchy meringue. The chocolate espresso brownie was savoury and decadent end the the meal.

Everything was delicious and overall it was a nice fresh and clean meal. The presentation was good for all plates. We would definitely return.

The composed salad course was one of my favourites of the night. Rather than the typical bed of lettuce, the salad’s base was a thick tomato purée. Sprinkled over top were sweet spring peas, crunchy pea pods, sweet heirloom cherry tomatoes and a crumbly goat cheese. It was another dish that expertly combined different textures and flavours without losing the natural essence of the ingredients themselves.

The contemporary and elaborate Globe Bistro feels misplaced in pre-Hellenic Danforth (it is situated on Bloor right across the Don Valley). From the bare and cold bar room where personae non gratae are seated (i.e. thrifty summerlicious mal-tippers) I stared into the lavish dining hall, decorated with exposed wood flooring, chandeliers and colossal pieces of modern art. How such a pompous restaurant could call itself a bistro is beyond me. The appetizer and dessert looked and sounded more interesting than it tasted. The Chorizo’s flavours were muted and the result was a poorly textured sausage; Chantilly is just another word for whipped cream and I couldn’t taste the espresso. Indeed, the meal was saved by the Chicken. It was a quartet of sour (lime relish), salty (collards), sweet (roasted sweet potatoes) and umami (chicken), each with its own solos and all together perfectly balanced.

Upon arrival, they took our coats and seated us. They offer seating on 2 levels and in a private room. This place was beautifully designed and earth friendly. The bathroom even had real hand towels! Not to mention, the kitchen is centrally located which made the entire place smell fantastic.   Our server, Stacy, was fantastic. My dad can be a bit of a  handfull  in an out- of- work- stand- up- comedian kind of way. He made friends with the table beside us as well. Poor couple! They were a good sport about it (Thank God!). Stacy was fun and attentive. Our glasses were kept full and our plates cleared. It's

We expected at least some gamey flavour but it was a really clean tasting meat. Didn’t announce itself like beef would....surprisingly subtle, but now we can say we tried elk!

The duck confit leg was absolutely amazing with the melted cheddar. The meat was really tender and juicy and I could easily tear the meat out with a fork - I would then dip it in the red wine thyme syrup before taking a bite.

Great cooking is all about balance, and if Globe could just work on simplifying some of their dishes (like the crab starter) and making others slightly more complicated (like the Elk main) and identify where they draw the line on being local, they’d have nothing stopping them.

The meal was excellent and extremely satisfying. The turkey was juicy and tender, and the gnocchi was super tasty and comforting. On top of that, both desserts were fantastic!

The restaurant itself is chic and cleverly redesigned, incorporating pieces of the structure’s former lives. Diners tread on restored hardwood floors from the lanes of a former bowling alley and ascend past nooks and multiple levels left from the theatre

Winter-freaking-licious! One of the best food festivals around has brought me to Globe. My Aunt and I searched the menus and based our decision on one item on their menu, a Dutch dessert called Speculaas. Yes, the reviews were good, but no one else offered Speculaas.

My dad can be a bit of a handfull in an out-of-work-stand-up-comedian kind of way. He made friends with the table beside us as well. Poor couple! They were a good sport about it(Thank God!). Stacy was fun and attentive. Our glasses were kept full and our plates cleared. It's always nice to have a server that is fun yet professional. Stacy was awesome.

We got a chance to meet the Chef and ask him why he made the Speculaas. He's Dutch, like us, and wanted to give some Dutch flavour to the menu. He knew we'd be tough critics about it, so he said he'd come by after dessert for the verdict.

First course was the Smoked Haddock Croquette, another Dutch treat! It was crisp and fresh and the mustard aioli cut through the intense smoky flavour. It was lovely. My Aunt chose the Duck Liver Parfait. She said the liver had the perfect texture. The elderberry preserves and brioche made it divine. In addition to the Winterlicious apps, we also tried the Steak Tartare. This was a first for me. It was seasoned well. I expected the texture to be unpleasant, but it was actually an enjoyable dish. Pleasant surprise!

Next was the main course. I had the Rosemary & Garlic Braised Ontario Lamb Shoulder. I love food I don't have to chew. The lamp was so tender, it fell off the bone. I literally pulled it apart with my fork and let it melt in my mouth. Fantastic! My dad chose the Roasted Perth County Pork Loin and my Aunt went with the Mushroom Tagliatelle. By the time, I had enjoyed some of the lamb and veggies, my father's plate was clean. The pork loin had been slow roasted and the chick pea masala was a nice touch. My Aunt loves pasta and this was no exception. A good helping of fresh pasta piled with local mushrooms and topped with parsley and celeriac puree. What a meal!

Dessert time. *cracks knuckles* It's time to get down to business. The Speculaas had arrived. We could smell the cinnamon scents of the dessert we know and love. Well, this definitely passed the test. If you've never had it before, it's a dessert square with flavours of gingerbread and cinnamon. He nailed it. We reminisced about my Oma and compared it to hers. Great job!

The Chef returned to see what we thought. Two thumbs up! It was just like Oma used to make and we were so pleased with his recipe. He said he'd been working on it and we were glad he did.

I'm a chocolate person. So, we also tried the Dark Chocolate Custard. Rich, rich, rich! The mixture of the custard with the hazelnut merengue and whipped cream was absolutely to die for.

What a great experience. Right from start to finish, it was a memorable night. I'd absolutely come back. Knowing it's farm-to-table makes it even better.

Globe is far larger than it appears to be from the outside stretching quite far back and having both a private party area on the second floor as well as a roof top patio area. The atmosphere is decorated with attention to details and is good for small groups to be able to converse. The food was good - the lobster cakes were particularly delightful. Service was good but a little rigid. The espresso coffee was pulled too long and tasted burnt - perhaps the drip coffee would have been better.

I did the travelzoo six course tasting menu here and it was a great experience. Good service, delicious food and they cater to food allergies very nicely. The portions are also quite large for a tasting menu. Very romantic atmosphere and beautiful decor.

I tried the prix fixed thanksgiving menu. It was very delicious. Everything food wise was perfect. The service was a little slow and we were seated right the front where the garage style window was opened. Not the best for October.

Went here for a summerlicious lunch! Every single dish was delish. Some of our friends cancelled last minute but they were super nice about it. They had our table ready on the first floor and upon reaching there we requested a spot on the patio, they happily found a spot for us. I would love to go back to try their brunch menu!

Went here for American Thanksgiving. Had the butternut squash soup, turkey, and split desserts (apple pastry with ice cream and pumpkin creme brulé). Excellent food with decent service. The waiter could have been more attentive and the maître de could have been more friendly. Atmosphere is A+. I'd go back here next year. I was very full and satisfied.
