Review Over Easy - Toronto

I love brunches and Over Easy is perfect! Good location with ease of access from the subway. Great food, quick and good service, regular diner ambience. Usually very busy. My favorite is the classic eggs Benedict. I love their house fries which is really neatly-cut mini cubed fries with some onions. Love it! Good place for a breakfast meetup with friends or family! Totally recommend it :)

Extensive menu, fair pricing and non greasy food. A great place in the area of yorkville to grab your typical breakfasts (nothing fancy about it) with ample amount of seating for all party sizes here. The staff here are friendly and quick to serve/refill your coffee too.

Lovely and cozy place in yorkville to get breakfast food. The space is welcoming and warming and the service is fast and attentive. The food is very affordable and portion is quite good for the price. For instance, a big breakfast is about $16 Canadian plus tax. In the summer they have a small patio outside right across from the Royal Ontario museum. Would recommend checking this place out.

Always been my go-to brunch place when I have out-of-town friends visiting. Really great patio seating in the summer (can see the ROM from there). Service is always friendly and prompt. Food is great and proportionate to the pricing. I had the Healthy menu (can’t remember what it was called) for $12.50 with an ice coffee. My friend ordered the English Breakfast. Portion was huge! Really great place for brunching in downtown Toronto. Give it a try.

The food tastes alright but doesn't match up to the price. Particularly the eggs in a hole, which was just eggs underneath a bagel with potatoes. It's also a smaller portion than I expected, especially since it's a higher price for breakfast food. The potatoes were kind of soggy, not crunchy and satisfying. The servers were quite nice though.

Nice midsize independent restaurant specializing in breakfast and brunch items. Staff is friendly and helpful. Prices are fair. Not a deal but also not as expensive as many similar chain restaurants. Decor could use an update as it looks like its from the 80s. Too old to be modern and not old enough to be classic.

The Over Easy is a very nice place to have breakfast and brunch all day. The food is very delicious and has this home-made style. The people are super friendly and the atmosphere is warm-hearted. If you have a chance to sit outside, you have a beautiful view of the Royal Ontario Museum fassade. This place was so good, we went there twice during our stop-over in Toronto.

A cute little brunch palce right opposite to ROM. It looks quite small from the outside, however they have a lot of seating space inside. I have been there during weekends and has always been crowded. The food is good and I am a fan of their home fries which is quite different from other places. It is a bit overpriced when compared to other brunch places.

Extensive breakfast menu, bright and airy decor. Coffee carafe left with us! Servers were great and did not hurry us, despite a line up at the door. I would have given 5/5 except hash browns were disappointing - those pre-made cubes. Otherwise, good value for this area.

This place is always busy!<br/>Great place for breakfast/brunch.<br/>Nothing to complain about, but nothing to brag about either.<br/>Had the eggs Benedict, but it wasn't the best I ever had.

Very extensive and interesting menu, the problem lies however in the execution. The food was bland and flavour lacking. Even my 4yr old boy tasted the overwhelming vinegar in the poached eggs. It's eggs 101, never use too much vinegar in the boiling water. <br/>Very attentive and courteous staff and lovely atmosphere, I was just hoping food would be better.

Over Easy was recommended to me by many people before arriving so naturally i went along. By far one of the best breakfasts i've ever had! The waiting staff are polite and attentive and the food arrived very quickly.<br/><br/>I've actually now visited Over Easy 5 times since arriving here last month, it's my weekly brunch treat. Also they leave the jug of coffee on the table for you here. Not many places do that anymore which is a shame as i can never gage how much of a caffeine rush i need to wake up in the morning haha. Long live Over Easy!

Delicious. Stayed at the Park Hyatt and the food there was terrible and over priced so I ended up going to Over Easy all 5 days of my business trip for breakfast. They did not disappoint once. Coffee was great, eggs Benedict was perfect. Their home fries are a perfect compliment as well.<br/>

Absolutely terrible service here! Our waiter practically ignored us the whole time! With so many great breakfast options nearby, we definitely won't be going back!!

Good spot for a good, affordable breakfast. My wife and I went there during our stay in Toronto. The central location was very useful, and their breakfast menu selection was excellent. Service was more than acceptable, and the quality of their meal was great (even for the more "classical" eggs-and-bacon selection). I also especially enjoyed their relaxed atmosphere, as I'm not a morning person - it was a good place to enjoy my first meal of the day. I'll certainly go back when down to T.O. again.

A cozy breakfast place in yorkville. No complaints. I appreciate chicken sausages as an option.

Best Breakfast Place!. The selection is amazing, plenty of vegetarian options available. The homefries are the best! <br/><br/>Service can be hit and miss, sometimes you'll get a great server and sometimes the server won't come back and check on you until the end. Regardless, the food is the best I've had out of all breakfast places I've tried in Toronto.

Customer Phone Big-Mouth. The last two times I have eaten here, there has been a single male talking on his cell-phone. He tries to be impressive having a cell-phone conversation by talking in an extremely loud and non-stop manner. It ruined my stay as no one (any server) would just tell him to talk at a conversational level - not an exuberant almost yelling level - out of respect to their customers. I left, my meal unfinished as I could not longer stand his self-imposed superiority.<br/> The Second Time I visited (both were out-of-town visits) the very same jughead was there and he spoke with a repetitive yadda-yadda-yadda to again ruin my meal. He was alone and tried very hard to impress the whole restaurant of his technological skills. I had to again stomach it but at least I finished my meal though with closed ears. <br/>I told a friend about Over Easy and he also went there with his wife. When I asked him how it was when he was back in town, he said "there was this guy who constantly talked on his cell-phone while I was there over everybody's conversation and ruined my whole meal because I couldn't stand it."<br/>Sp if you are that person, WAKE UP YOU MORON! I'm going to Toronto again and if you are there and haven't learned a lesson from this, I will spill my breakfast of runny eggs all over your pants and face. Be warned....

Great food, barely average service. Service was a little haphazard. BestCajun chicken wrap anywhere. Baked eggs were yummy!

Still the best breakfast. Whenever I visit Toronto, my first stop for a great breakfast is Over Easy.<br/>But, because of the few negative reviews I was hesitant to go...<br/>I am happy to report Over Easy still serves the BEST breakfast in town.<br/>The staff is very welcoming and supplies quick service... even serve everyone a full pot of coffee.

The first time my boyfriend and I tried this place, we fell in love with it. The second time, there weren't so many butterflies. By the fifth time, we decided to break up with over easy entirely. Each time we went, the service and food got worse. The last time we went, I miscounted the amount of money I gave my server, accidentally only tipping her a dollar or two, when I meant to tip seven (I work in the industry, I always over tip, not under). She pointed it out rudely by insisting we take our change back, and saying it was no good to her. Today, we decided to give it one more shot, but they disappointed us. Our server was slow, it took quite some time to place our orders. She never once checked on us during our meal, although my food tasted like the cheese had gone bad, and my water cup had been empty since the beginning of our meal. It's unfortunate, because I genuinely loved this place, but I will never return.

Absolute trash. Went in with my mom to have a late breakfast on Saturday morning. Initially the waitress was polite enough, but when I requested a cup of hot water her mood soured tremendously. Seems that unless you order their ridiculously over-priced "juices" or coffee they'll treat you like garbage. She returned with the hot water as requested, but used the smallest possible cup size (our adjacent neighbours had much larger cups for water), and DON'T try to tell me hot water can only fit in a smaller cup.<br/>After coldly delivering our food (and I say coldly not only regarding her attitude but also because the food was stone cold when it arrived), she never came back to check on us again except to toss the bill onto our table.<br/>If this is the abysmal level of service that Over Easy wants to provide to its diners, then it should feel free to. However, it should have the common courtesy of putting a sign at the window warning us that the servers are some of the most unjustifiably vindictive people you'd ever meet at a breakfast joint. I will be doing my best to vehemently denounce this establishment to all my contacts, and trust me: I have a lot of contacts.

'Atrocious' does not suffice. Went in by myself on Sunday brunch time. I understand servers prefer to serve large tables for larger tips, however, it took over 15 minutes to get someone to come over (even then, no drink offer, nothing) as servers 'chose' which table to serve and which could wait.<br/><br/>After hearing that (I) waited over 10 minutes (I was expecting a light smile and a short apology; along the line of 'Oh, sorry about that' would've dont it), server states while rolling his eyes: 'we are busy.' i asked if that's the best answer he could give and he gave me loads of attitude: 'well, what do you want?'<br/><br/>I asked to speak to the manager, which took another 10 minutes (he eyed my table and seated a few companies and settled bills, perhaps hoping that I would just leave). As he 'listened' to my complaint, he took away the menu and walked off.<br/><br/>It's a close place for my work and they do cheap and filling plates, food is acceptable most of the time. Have been in since it opened. However, this would be the very last time for me as even though their service has consistently weak, this was a new level altogether.<br/><br/>I can only imagine their service will deteriorate further as there are almost no places left around bloor and avenue for quick, cheap bite.

Had a very late bfast here when visiting the ROM. There was no kids' menu but the servings for the waffle and for the two egg bfast were not too big, though all meals that we could see were really heavy on the home fries. We had two choices from the light and healthy menu, and they were quite good. Fruit was fresh and multigrain bread was a step up from the whole wheat that came twitch the regular meals. Food was comparable to Cora's and Eggspectations. Service was good, server was attentive.

The food was exactly what I was looking for. Service was quick and friendly. It became busy just after 8:30/8:45 on a Sunday morning so go early. They open at seven. I'll definitely return. Meal came with healthy portions and was fast.

Solid. Over Easy was only 2 doors down from our hotel, so we decided to try it. Very solid menu and the food was good. <br/><br/>Everything was prepared nicely and I would really suggest a side of Peameal Bacon. <br/><br/>Our timing was great and we were seated immediately, but the line grew quite quickly and some had a half hour wait.

Their 'Huevos Rancheros' are absolutely fantastic!

Overall lukewarm. Our girlie gatherings usually revolve around food; specifically, brunch! What better way to start the day.<br/>This time, our choice brunch location was Over Easy since the plan was to check out the latest addition to the ROM (mainly, The Lee-Chin Crystal addition) after brunch.<br/>I think it's quite safe to say that brunch is easily unscrew-up-able. Am I right?<br/>And while nothing was screwed per se, there was certainly nothing memorable about eating there (except for the company).<br/>I do have one gripe, however.<br/>My tea was lukewarm.<br/>I truly dislike a lukewarm tea which brings to mind A Salmon of Doubt by Douglas Adams where he describesa perfect proper cup of tea.<br/>I've noticed lukewarm tea all over the city - ya know, that "hot" water from that hot water machine just doesn't cut it. The breakfast wasn't all that great, either.<br/>(full review and pics on my blog)

Will eat breakfast at home next time. Of any of the times I have sorrowfully parted with my hard-earned cash to pay for prepared food, this would top the list. Two basic breakfasts and $28.00 later (not including tip), I was wishing I was back home in Trenton where I can get a beautiful breakfast for half the price at least. I had the Corned Beef Hash. The poached eggs were undercooked, and still had water in the outer edges. The corned beef hash portion was so unappetizing, I couldn't finish it. My fiance said his bacon was hard and unchewable. People actually lined up for this. Hey Toronto, if you think this is a good breakfast, come to our house and we'll show you what it's supposed to taste like.

Meat Lovers Omelet. I ordered the meat lover's omelet. It was great! I think it had Bacon, sausage and ham in it. The ham was that sort of country style cooked on the bone sort of ham. Or at least it looked and tasted like that. And it had a generous amount of aged cheddar in it. The only complaint I have is that the egg was a little brown. Perhaps some like it this way but I'm ultra picky about eggs not being over cooked. They werent terribly overcooked though. I have a photo but I don't see anyway to post pictures in the reviews :o(. The homefries were cut into small cubes a little smaller than sugar cubes. They tasted good and good crispyness but needed some salt, easy fix. I liked the jug of coffee on the table. Whay don't all breakfast places do that?

Decent breakfast spot, quick service and extensive menu. French toast was excellent, but eggs Benedict was terrible, gross coagulating hollandaise sauce.

Good food but nothing to write home about. A vast selection of breakfasts that is sure to serve everyone well. I had the corn beef hash. It was worth the $10 but could have used more gridle time. A full coffee pot made wakeing up in the morning a breeze. I will go back when I just want breakfast without the zing.

The arnald palmer is a great idea!! Food was good

I got the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict ($13.99), which is pretty much my brunch order anywhere I go. It is served with home fries (pictured above), fries, salad or soup but I went with their famous home fries. The smoked salmon was a bit too salty for my liking but the Hollandaise sauce and egg was good. I also really enjoyed their home fries - very tasty!

Best thing after a night of drinking is brunch. This nearby place called Over Easy was serving brunch thankfully past noon. Kitty had The Eggy Hammy Cheesy ($10.99) with a toasted English muffin halved and topped with Dijon, three cheese sauce, off-the-bone baked ham, melted aged cheddar cheese fried eggs with home fries. This was a really large dish with heavy food. The ham was a highlight, with a thick cut and tasting fresh and salty. I had The Skillet ($10.99) with sausage, bacon, home fries, green pepper, mushroom and onions, all cooked in a skillet topped with melted aged cheddar cheese and fried eggs served with toast. Overall this dish was a little small, but still had good taste. It could have used a little more sausage. Also since it's called the skillet, a skillet would have been appropriate. Overall pretty good, a little pricey, but probably typical downtown prices.

I walked by Over Easy Restaurant, a popular brunch spot in the U of T neighbourhood, many times in the past but never had a chance to eat there. Finally, I headed over there for brunch recently. <br/><br/>The location is great - right across the street from the ROM, University of Toronto and other shops & boutiques in Yorkville. I was surprised at how many guests the restaurant could seat because it looked pretty small from the outside. We were seated at the front by the windows, a bright and comfortable area.<br/><br/>However, since we were a bit "separated" from the rest of the dining area, it was hard to get the server's attention after we were seated. We had around 10-15 minutes of just looking at the menu before we were asked if we wanted something to drink.<br/><br/>My friend got the English Breakfast ($10.99) with 2 eggs any style, sausage, sautéed mushrooms, grilled tomato, home fries, & toasted malt bread. This is definitely a big breakfast with your protein, carbs and a bit of veggies. Perfect when you're feeling extra hungry!<br/><br/>I got the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict ($13.99), which is pretty much my brunch order anywhere I go. Their portions are very generous and food is pretty good but they just lacked attentiveness from the servers. I know Brunch is a busy seating time, but they could always have more servers during peak hours. Maybe I'll just have to try something else on the menu next time!<br/>
