Went for a long leisurely dinner and was not disappointed. Spent over 4 hours sitting on the patio enjoying appetizers, wine and then dinner. Did not feel rushed at all. Fantastic service and food. Have already recommended Pure Spirits to many people. What a gem! Can't wait to go back to try the other things on the menu we did not try on this visit.
The food and service was very good; however was a very busy night. I recommend you to go there if you like sea food.

Amazing oysters! I highly recommend going for $1 oysters on Tuesday. It comes with yummy bread too. Wine selection is nice too.
We were in the Distillery District and decided to grab a bite. We walked around, read menus and settled on this place. We ordered cocktails which were great; very inventive list. We split the falafel wrap which was delicious and more than enough for the two of us. Service was pleasant and attentive throughout the meal. Recommend if you are in the area.
Repeat customer. Oysters were on point as was the papardelle and mussels. Very sad to say the linguine vongolge was so salty we had to send it back. And same for the chicken rigatoni. Very salty and pasta was undercooked. Not sure what was happening in the kitchen. But at least the manager acknowledged and adjusted the final bill.
I have eaten here on a number of occasions. Oysters generally pretty good and reasonable selection (Fanny Bays can be a bit unpredictable but East Coast usually fine - likely dependent on time of year), nice chowders and other fare. Great location for business lunches with ample parking. I like the wharf-ish atmosphere which doesn't go overboard with kitshy items but works well with the old distillery flavour of the room. Service is friendly and quite efficient.
Absolutely great oysters! Was my first time trying, & I must say ny friend was right, she frequently visits this place for oysters, I can see why! Also, we tried the 2-types of mussels they have...both amazing! I will definitely be back.
I love this spot. Located in the Distillery District of Toronto, Pure Spirits Oyster Bar and Grill shucks a wide variety of East and West coast mollusks. Sometimes you find a rare variety, like the European flat Belon or the Olympia, both having a dry metallic taste. Alongside any oyster one should have bubbles. Not sure why but sparkling wine really enhances their salty, briny, buttery, metallic, or even fruity flavours like cucumber and melon.
Not a single bad thing to say! The staff is amazingly attentive and sweet. Whether you're an oyster lover, or are a oyster virgin, this is the place to go! Their wine selection is amazing as well.
Solid meal. Had the calamari for app nice tempura batter. Had the halibut for main - nice, flavours were ok/solid. Others had mussels - reports say very good flavour composition - but description of the broths that they were prepared in were inaccurate. Will return to try their "everything is made in-house" burger.
During the last weekend of the very busy Lowe’s Toronto Christmas Market in the Distillery District, my mother and I considered ourselves incredibly lucky to get a table, (not just a table, a booth) without a reservation at the Pure Spirits Oyster House and Grill. My love of oysters and the ambiance of this place made for a perfect combination. We allowed our server to bring us the best options and her selections were superb. There are almost endless varieties of oysters to be had.
Cute little distillery place. Great ambiance, feels like an oyster bar. Service was overall good even though I think they should utilize the staff better. Our waiter was hustling but there were a lot of staff having around or polishing glasses rather then speed up service. Food was great, oyster fresh and tasty. Favorite dish was the lobster papparedelle, full score. The overall feeling with the dishes was that they were quite rich, heavy and full flavoured but very tasty.

Would give 3.75 out of 5 for the visit. Good food and service overall. Strolling in distillery district, wanted to go try the seemingly trendier place with a nice patio right across called El Catrin, since the weather was beautiful on this Sunday afternoon, but had to wait so we turned away across the pavement to this place instead.
We got a nice window booth seat and an attentive waitress. Good start.
Had an assortment of oysters, fresh and clean. Ordered grilled octopus in entree. Came a meaty one, wondering if it would be chewy, and not crispy enough on the surface by the size and colour of it. But nice surprise that it turned out to be perfectly tender. Could be grilled slightly more for the perfect crispness, but the one we had did just fine. The veggies base was also a refreshing compliment.
Had their Mac n cheese. A bit too oily, but tasty. They were not niggard on the cheese though. The seafood inside was a bit overcooked. An decent one overall.
Also had their lobster pappardelle. Good pasta but great truffle sauce, nice mushrooms. Best of the meal.
We had an 8:00 reservation but it started to rain. They were good about getting us in a bit early.
Shucker's dozen oysters were very good. The paella was perhaps not the best choice but it was good. Should have tried the octopus

Enjoyable meal. After a bad dinning experience at Ciao, I finally got a good meal here. Service was prompt and the waiter was knowledgeable about what's on the menu. The Manhattan clam chewer was lightly spicy and chock full of vegetables but the baby clams were bit hard to find; nonetheless, it was a delicious soup. We both had the seafood paella was also delicious and have enough seafood in it. It came with a nice big serving of a juicy cooked square of Cod. It was cooked just right so that it is not dry and the flesh flakes off the way it should be. Definitely an excellent meal and recommended.
Oysters divine. Try the breen-- don't forget to eat the fish cheeks. The Mac and cheese is filling. Awesome service! Love that our city has a new oyster bar. Make a Rez.
Wow. Wow, there's a lot of negative reviews here on urbanspoon ....I can't say I have experienced bad service in my times of eating here. I would say the service is ok (not bad but not a standout either). I would recommend this place if you like shucking raw oysters. This place has excellent oysters (order the Virginicas, these are good)! It's a bit pricey in my opinion thats why I dont go that often. Patio is also good in the summer. We had our puppy time one time and they sat us down at at the edge of the patio so we can tie our puppy to the side, so that was nice.
Who would think that the combination of white wine, tomatoes, garlic, and herbs would be so delicious? The broth was quite salty but I assume that is to get the flavour in the mussels because they were fine. The rolls were perfect for dipping the extra broth in, but I couldn't have too much of that either because of the saltiness.
I had the oysters and tried the calamari. Both yummy but pricey. Half a dozen oysters were $18 and 2 pieces of calamari were $14.
I must say, it was such a memorable dish. The fish was perfection, crisp skin and plump, sweet and pliant flesh, perfectly cooked and moist. It had notes of bitterness from the Shiso and that citrusy perk from the lemony picatta sauce. The perfectly cooked fish was also sitting on a bed of creamy risotto. Every bite on that dish I relished and I saw that both my friends felt the same way about the dish. All three of us cleaned our plates really well.
In the heart of Toronto’s beloved historic Distillery District is Pure Spirits Oyster House & Grill. My boyfriend took me here on one of our very first dates and then we came back here on our anniversary. It’s such a nice little sweet spot, with such a rustic historic feel from when you walk through Distillery District right up until you get seated at your table. What intrigued us the most was that they had a selection of oysters to try. Pure Spirits may not have the most expansive list of oysters to try, or the most exotic, or even the best, but what they do have on offer is a wide variety of menu items...
If you are ever in the Distillery District and in the mood for seafood, Pure Spirits is the place to have. If you are an oyster aficionado like my friends, you will definitely order the sweet BC Kyushu oysters which are small is size but pack a powerful flavour of the great Pacific Ocean. While I usually am more critical of soups, the spiced mango gazpacho has the perfect touch of heat and tropical sweetness for a summer lunch on Pure Spirit’s beautiful patio.
Great spot in the Distillery District. We came to the Christmas Market tonight (which is beautiful by the way!) and ended up waiting in line for dinner at Pure Spirits Oyster House because some girls were craving oysters. The food is pretty good, lots of delicious fish selections and great selection of oysters. Reasonably priced wine list and great atmosphere.
