Delicious lunch/brunch!
Met a group of friends for lunch. Luckily a reservation had been made as it’s a busy spot!
Winterlicious is on so more choices to an already varied menu. I chose the special menu and enjoyed a Caesar Salad, Rainbow Trout with colourful & tasty vegetables. An Apple tart with vanilla ice cream was the perfect finish.
My dining companions chose a variety of other dishes including Eggs Benedict & Reuben sandwich.
All meals were declared delicious!
Definitely a place I would return to.
We stopped at Sambucas on Church on Sunday evening during the Pride festivities. Both my girlfriend and I ordered a pint of beer and shared the CARNIVORO pizza ($15). This pizza came topped with grilled chicken, Italian sausage, pepperoni, bacon, red onions, and red peppers over tomato sauce and topped with mozzarella cheese. We both enjoyed this pizza very much! The chicken was a bit dry but the Italian sausage made up for it. The highlight for me was the sauce - it was full of flavour. The service was really good too even though it was really busy. I would definitely return to Sambucas for another meal.
Came here for dinner with a party of 4 (myself included) on a Saturday night. We had reservations, but even so, getting a table wouldn't have been an issue since there seemed to have been a bit of room.
We all ordered off their $25 prix-fixe menu and really enjoyed it! I got the salad, angus steak, and lava cake and it was definitely worth it. They started us off with some bread and butter, which was excellent, since I was pretty hungry when I arrived! The salad was a mixed green with almonds, goat cheese, and roasted red peppers. It felt a bit short on the red peppers, cheese, and almonds, but was nonetheless delicious. The olive oil dressing was really well done.
The steak was perfectly cooked for my taste and had an excellent glaze that really enhanced the flavour. The vegetables and potatoes were the perfect amount. The lava cake was a lovely way to end the dinner.
The ambiance was quite nice! It was a little dim; I saw some other patrons using their cellphones to read their menus.
The server forgot some of my friends' pitcher of wine and they were mostly easy to get a hold of when we needed something.
A great night and will be back! :)
For our mains, we both opted to go with the Fettuccine with Lobster Tail and Black Tiger Shrimp. This light pasta dish also had leeks, red onions and baby kale tossed in a sage brown butter sauce. Honestly, this dish wins just for making kale super delicious! For dessert, we both ordered the Deep Fried Tiramisu. I was disappointed with this dish. It had obviously been sitting in the freezer before we ordered, then flash fried in hot oil. The middle of my dessert was still frozen, and I didn't think it tasted that great overall.
Came here on a Friday night for a party of four. We did not have reservations and they still sat us where we wanted. Their Summerlicious menu was still available to us. An appetizer, entree, and dessert all for $25 per person. Not bad at all. I ordered the cream of potato soup, grilled swordfish, and a New York cheesecake. The soup came with bread and was very tasty with a thick texture. When the swordfish came, it had a nicely uniform grill marks on the surface with steamed veggies beneath. The texture of the swordfish was crispy but the fish itself lacked a certain sweetness to it. The sauce definitely helped smooth out the lack of natural flavor on the fish. I tried my brother's steak and it was fabulous with mashed potatoes. Finally, the cheesecake was perfect with strawberry sauce sparingly spread over it and just the right amount. They also have fried tiramisu which comes in two pieces with a hard shell with the tiramisu stuffed inside. Very creative indeed.
I likeit, but.... I have said that I like this restaurant, and the food was very good, the ambiance excellent and the service acceptable It was a Monday night, and there was one server who was run ragged. My real complaint was being served a dreadful martini - watery, glass half full, no flavour. The server, a very nice young woman had to make it herself, and was, frankly, not up to the Task. Sambuca, if you are going to be open on a Monday night, provide the staff!
Enjoyed the Grilled Vegetable salad and Santa Cruz pizza ... Great combo to share. Would return just for the salad!
Great little spot. We stay in the Village during frequent visits to Toronto, this time we wanted to explore the eateries in the area. The recommendation for Sambucas came from visiting the Urban Toronto forum.
The prix fix menu was encouraged by the couple at the next table and it turned out to be a good choice. We had one of the several mussel appetizers available and it was a meal in itself!. So plump with terrific broth that was completely mopped up with lovely fresh bread. All of the entrees were lovely as were the desserts. We will be returning!
One of the first restaurants I've ever dined at on Church and has continued to hold it's place in my whole time dining in the village.
Excellent wine selection and the martini selection is not bad either.
Servers are always friendly, and they are genuine when they ask you how your day has been going.
The linguini is delicious as is the creme brulee, but all other items I've tasted on the menu are just as savory and satisfying, with large portions I almost never finish my whole meal.
I've been meaning to stop by for brunch as I've heard wonderful reviews about it as well.
The only complaint I've ever had with Sambuca's would be sometimes the washrooms look a little messy, not dirty just crowded and untidy.
Best in the village. Sambuca's is the best-kept secret in the city......a casual, cozy atmosphere.......attentive, intelligent service.....great wine selection and simple but strong mixed drinks.
Sambuca's large menu is affordably priced. The wine list features glasses, half-carafes, carafes and bottles. The tables are simply set and the restaurant is appropriately illuminted brightly at lunch and dimly during dinner. Even the piped-in music is well selected.
The food is consistenly EXCELLENT. The fried calamari is served with an awesome spicy remoulade (not too spicy and not too sweet.) Their caesar salad is consistently perfect......nicely dressed crisp pieces of heart romaine with tasty small croutons and a lemon wedge. The menu items are widely varied including a prosciutto sandwich, greek salad with grilled sirloin, thin and crisp pizzas, fresh meat fish and poultry entrees, and a terrific selection of pastas.
The daily features are terrific including soups that tend to be on the rich and heavy side. The food is always served hot and cooked to proper temperature. The presentation is simple and enhances the large portions of food.
Two standouts on the menu are the Atlantico pasta.....linguine (I substitute penne) with snow peas and onions in an alfredo cream sauce, topped with a 4 ounce filet of salmon that has a beautiful char and tender, moist meat. The creme brulee sets the standard for the dessert. The custard is exceptionally creamy when fresh and the browned sugar topping is not overdone. I must say that the consistency of the dessert is variable. When the custard is freshly cooked, still warm and topped with a perfectly glassy, brittle glaze of burnt sugar defines what creme brulee is meant to be.
The service is terrific and very freindly and amicable. The entire crew is happy, smiling and entertaining. The service may falter when the restaurant gets overwhelmed (NOTE TO MANAGEMENT:booking that huge friday afternoon holiday party last year was a BIIIIIIIIIIG MISTAKE.) Overall, though, the staff is genuinely concerned and aims to please. Simple menu modifications are accomodated without hesitation.
I love Sambuca's and consider myself a regular., I also consider myself to be very picky when it comes to choosing a restaurant.
HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Great food and service. The food and service make this place really stand out. I've had the chicken parmisean at many places... this is probably one of the best. Easily one of the best restaurants in the area.
My favourite place. It had very good service and i was very content with the food. the desserts were delicious and the over-all appearance was very welcoming. i would definitely come back
Best food in the Village. I really like their food especially their Prix Fixe menu has many great choices. Their T-bone steak was very nice and the dessert, creme brule, was amazing!
Gay friendly. Down to earth. I had the Mushroom Risotto, it was quite good. Efficient quick service. Prices are bit too high for this type of restaurant. I keep going back anyway, however, if it gets more expensive then It would be not worth it.
Decent place. One of the better places in the village. I'd come back.
A great place to check out. The food is really delicious. Everything we had: the mussels, risotto, linguine, and free range chicken were all tasty and portions were perfect. The service was very friendly too. My family and I will definitely be coming back and trying new items on the menu.
The taste of the food was amazing. Great presentation, fantastic prices and friendly staff. Definitely a place you have to check out.
Wow!! I’m so impressed. From accommodating our last minute reservation to the awesome service to the great food/beverage prices, probably one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had. We had the prix fixe and the portions were huge, ended up taking the dessert home. Also $4 mimosas! What a gem :)
Great service, great ambience and GREAT FOOD! This place is amazing. I went there last weekend with my hubby, daughter and sister in law. We had an amazing time. They have the most friendly staff :) Absolutely loved the food. The steak and pasta are to die for. The chocolate lava cake was so good. Loved the tiramissu! Definitely going back!!!
We had ordered from Sambas a few times over the pandemic, but had never gone in person until tonight. We had their prix fixe meal and for $38, I enjoyed a healthy portion of mussels in a delicious creamy sauce, a lamb shank as my main and a chocolate dessert! Food was delicious and done to perfection. Service by Vic was extremely attentive - he came at the right time to take our order, refill our water, etc. etc. Very friendly and sweet guy. Will definitely be coming back again!
The staff here are exceptional. So attentive. The food comes out fast. I always enjoy myself.
Yes! Great service and tasty food. Got a lunch special, a fish + tiramisu and coffee 🤩. Spent good one hour, enjoyed the food and atmosphere. 5*
Have been going to this wonderful restaurant from years. Great service, and food.
