Review Eva's Original Chimneys - Toronto

2022 February 3.5★ Right along the busy streets of Bloor, you'll find this dessert shop sitting right in-between other restaurants and shops. A perfect location for those strolling along the shopping area. Step inside this Hungarian restaurant and you'll see rolls of chimneys being roasted. Swirls of dough wrapped around a cone shape wooden stick, placed on a burner like a rotisserie. Once cooked and browned, the cone is taken off from the burner and generously drizzled with a cinnamon sugar blend or other flavor selections. This is done quickly while still hot as it's sticky even as it's cooked. Once cooled down enough, a solid chocolate sphere is dropped into the cone as the cone is open ended at the tip. This is necessary to ensure the ice cream doesn't just melt through. The ice cream is then put inside the cone and toppings are added on top. Had the original (The O.G.) Though instead of strawberries (which is out of season or stock) they offered a syrup, but they were nice to substitute Oreo crumble instead when asked. The chimney cone was great. Sweet and crispy. The ice cream was lacking. A regular vanilla soft serve. They do have a vegan option. Would recommend coming to try it out. Would come again for the chimney cake.

I think the hype of this place is better than the real experience of their ice cream. As an ice cream lover I must say that the quality of their ice cream and toppings does not match the price. Their cones is the only thing worth to try. But if you are looking for a delicious ice cream experience, this is not the place. Only come to have a good cone with an average ice cream

A wonderfully sweet combination of ice cream on a cinnamon coated chimney cake! I got The O.G. for $8.95 which was very delicious but a bit pricey. Their cones are unique and I love the thick and smooth consistency of their ice cream! To my surprise, there was a mini Oreo at the bottom of the cone! Be sure to have plenty of napkins handy. The cones have a hole at the bottom and it becomes a mess when the ice cream starts melting.

A dessert you only have once to try. The chimney cake tasted stale which suggests it wasn’t freshly prepared once ordered. Great that they had dairy free soft serve options which tasted good. Their seating area was closed which made it difficult to enjoy the treat as it was quite big and melting. Quite Pricey for its quality.

This was a nice snack to try as someone who loves ice cream. It's a unique dessert. I like that the store is set up so customers can watch while their order is being made, so there's that experience aspect to it. I got the tiramisu variation. It's definitely a lot and will get messy so good to have lots of napkins on hand 👍

Tried this place out after a filling dinner so I got a cinnamon sugar cake. It was made fresh and delicious. Would be willing to try out their other flavours; however, it is a bit on the pricey side imo. $10 for a cone with ice cream? Also, for people who don’t know, there is no seating; it is a purely takeout establishment so you’ll have to enjoy your dessert elsewhere.

Went for burgers and landed up with this innovative huge freshly baked Chimney ice cream cones. So fresh and delicious and can’t believe they have so many vegan options. Mango coconut - Coconut Cone, Mango Coulis, Shredded coconut and dried mango garnish. So tropical and fulfilling. One cone was shared by 2 people and was sufficient. Worth trying this place, specially if vegan.

It was huge!!!! The vanilla soft serve was creamy and heavy which I really like! Their cone made me so full but you’ll love the size of the ice cream.

They recently opened up a location at Square One and when I went there I was shocked at all the vegan options they offered! I got a vegan soft serve w/ vegan caramel in a raspberry cone and it was the best soft serve ice cream I've ever had in a longggg time. Definitely recommend! :)

The ice cream was great, service horable , there was 3 people working one on cones one on cash and one on ice cream . They were arguing with eachother the whole time . Took 30 min after we orderd to get our ice cream and the place was discusting it was so dirty , there was garbage everywhere . The person in cash was saying they were understaffed to someone . We did enjoy the ice cream and took it to go. On that night I would not recommend this location

I really like how this is a spin on your traditional ice cream treat. The mixes they add to the cones are delicious and the custom cones are really tasty. I didn't think the ice cream was much different from my local ice cream store and the price of $11 is a bit steep . Would I recommend trying it? Yes. Will I be back again? Not so sure.

My first visit..And sorry to say my last. The staff very friendly and courteous Extremely busy place but the lines move quickly Very interesting to see the cones being made fresh and all the flavours on offer. But I found the ice cream at best average soft serve . And the cones thick and flavourless . And the staff preparing the cones and adding the ingredients using their bare hands should be wearing gloves .

I love their ice cream flavours! It cost me $11 but it was totally worth every cent! I have been meaning to get ice cream from there but there was always a huge line up and now I see why haha. I will post their ice cream on Instagram so my friends and followers will see (I will take down the posting if requested) But I have one question: Are the cones made from choux paste?

Let's start with the positive - The chimneys are to die for!!! BUT on the night we went, there was only vanilla and chocolate soft serve. I decided to get a twist. Unfortunately, the soft serve was completely bland. Vanilla tasted of nothing and the chocolate was only slightly better. I also got mint chocolate shavings on top, which was a huge waste of money because there was so little, that it made no difference in taste or texture. At the end of the day, when you pay $11.00 for an ice cream cone, you shoulds expect it to be spectacular! Along with the ho hum soft serve, they had a young lady taking orders with the same ho hum attitude. She looked as though she had rather have been anywhere else but working there that evening. Not a smile, or any kind of welcome, it made us feel she was doing us a favor by taking our orders. Terrible first experience. But at the end of the day, I give it 3 stars because the chimney cone was deeeelish. Shame about everything else. Do yourself a favor, just buy the pastry and forget the soft serve. You won't feel so ripped off by it all.

Today I stopped by this shop to get the OG Chimney Cake. Once I walked in the story I was reminded of my study abroad experience in Budapest. The Chimney Cake was all worth it and it tasted the same as the ones in Budapest. I also loved the panorama image of the Fisherman Bastion.

Amazing!! I had the dream cone and it was sooo good. They even put 'toppings' in the cone. Definitely worth every cent, we will be back!!

I had the Raspberry cheesecake with twist ice cream and it was to die for! This was my first time and I’ll tell you...I’ll be back in a heartbeat. Hanks for the great food and service!

I tried the kimchi chimdog, the chimney dough melts in your mouth and the kimchi and siracha sauce packs a punch. I happened to be there at the same time of the owners and it was lovely to sit down with them and have a chat and I could tell their other customers enjoyed it too. I can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu.

This place is like a gift to your tastebuds! We got the dream cone and it was delicious with the churro like cone, layered with Nutella and soft serve ice cream, topped with brownie bits. So delicious.

Lineups are always very long at this place, I tried it for the first time last weekend and I can say without a doubt the wait was definitely worth it!!

I liked the cinnamon sugar funnel the best. Had better tasting vanilla ice cream though. But it's worth a try.
