Review Live Organic Food Bar - Toronto

Always interested in seeing how to prepare veggies in new ways. Best aspects were the staff and ambience for sure. The food so far was good but not for everyone. I'd personally only get one dish next time (I got an appetizer and then a raw classic) Definitely worth a visit. I'd like to try their dessert next time.

Amazing food in a laid back atmosphere. After a 7 hours drive, we wanted something light and healthy. Service was great, the food was nicely presented and fresh. We loved everything we tasted. If you wanna eat organic and vegan in a cosy place, you should try it. We will definitely go back again when in Toronto.

Good food, friendly servers, pricey. Great little very vegan place. Close to subway for convenience. Have a good scrub of items on the menu. Servers are friendly and food is delicious, just expensive for only containing vegan/vegetarian ingredients.

A vegan restaurant right by DuPont station. My first time trying a vegan place and it was really quite nice. It’s a cozy restaurant with moderate seating. Good for dining alone or small groups, I wouldn’t recommend going in a large group (4+). It can get a little loud and you can’t help but eavesdrop on the conversation around you. The menu is simple and straightforward, everything there is vegan. They have a soup of the day which your waiter/waitress will tell you about. They do have takeout options and ubereats. Price is moderate. The washrooms are down a flight of stairs. It was clean, didn’t have any problems although if you’re relatively tall, you may find the ceiling too close. You’ll understand once you go. Got a sip of my friend’s chocolate almond drink which was really tasty. I recommend it !

We had recently decided to try a vegan diet and as foodies did not want fewer restaurants options to stop us! We were relieved and thrilled by Live and had an excellent lunch experience here! I had their burger that came with avocado, coconut bacon on a gluten free rice bun. Although the patty kinda of squished out along side the avocado, it was still delicious. I got it with a wonderful side salad and was very full and unable to finish the meal. He got their kimchi pancakes, which were a solid 10/10 and defiantly what I will be getting next time I go. Go here if you’re making healthy life styles changes or not. It’s that good and prices are reasonable.

Healthy food for a premium you won't mind! This is a nice cozy restaurant that serves one of the healthiest meals in town! Who says that healthy food isn't supposed to be tasty? Who says you need to stick to salads to eat healthy? In fact, their menu would leave you spoilt for choice. That's when the servers come into the picture. They will help you zero down on your order. They really know their menu very well & can offer good customization choices too. Abby was the server during both my visits. She even remembered what I had ordered on my earlier visit! I had the '3 sisters bowl' & 'English breakfast'. Would love to come here again. Lots of dishes to be tried out ;)

I came by here on a Sunday late afternoon/early evening for take out it was nice and quiet not busy but there was handful of people dining in. I ordered the bacon bean burger and kale Caesar salad. The staff were helpful and friendly in helping me narrow down my order with their knowledge of the menu. They have a cute patio at the back of the restaurant.

Really great vegan place. They have cool drinks, wicked delicious dishes. In the pictures taro poutine, bibimbap bowl and sweet potato pad thai. 🤙 GO Vegan! 🌱

Great outdoor dining out back.

We LOVE this place for the food. As we are both vegetarian, we were quite pleased with the scope of the offerings here. Vegan poutine! Everything we've ordered in 2 different visits we've quite enjoyed.

Live Organic Food Bar was recommended to me by a friend and it was a pleasant surprise.

I had the manicotti (vegan version) and it was fabulous! I have to say it didn't taste like manicotti but the chef was obviously inspired by it.

We sat on the back patio which is cozy and cute and everything from the service to the food was fantastic.

If you are hunting for great vegetarian options this place is definitely worth a try. There were so many interesting options on the menu that it was challenging to make a choice.

The service was quite poor. We chose to sit in their patio, however the wifi didn’t work outside. Also, their dining mats were dirty. However, I ordered the über protein bowl, which had really nice tempeh, but it left my throat feeling a bit funny. My bowl was a tad spicy but otherwise I really enjoyed my meal. Would definitely recommend for vegans or anyone in general!!!

Manicotti zucchini noodles cashew spinach ricotta botija olives arugula cherry tomatoes almond parmesan. Live Organic Food Bar is one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto! The food is absolutely delicious featuring creative gourmet dishes. Rarely do you ever find organic and vegan food that is prepared this well.

...can detect no difference between this tiramisu and a traditional one. So much so that I even double-checked the ingredients list to see if it had any rum in it! And this is always one of the fun parts about buying Live meals – checking the ingredients lists to see what they use to get it to taste so similar to the processed version. In this instance, nuts, dates, coconut oils and milks, and agave nectar replace the conventional tiramisu ingredients like marscarpone, egg and cream.

The staff are very rude. And need to learn some manners. I will never go there again.

Great Food, Rude Staff. I purchase the prepared lunch/dinner meals from a local café and love the favor and freshness of the products. As a health conscious individual who is diabetic, I like to know the nutritional information of the foods I'm eating. After calling to inquire, I was instructed to "look it up myself".

I think I will look up my own recipes for homemade raw cashew lasagne and walnut burgers from now on.
Love to support local businesses but do not like to support businesses that fail to appreciate their patrons needs.
*** I can't say for sure who I was talking to, but I've met the owner on multiple occasions, and I have to say, the person on the other end sounded a lot like her***

Good stuff. Inventive and delicious food with nice staff. Definitely not a budget place but I've always been happy to pay more for the specialized menu.

A great find on Dupont!. I ate at Live a month or so ago and was really impressed with the food and service offered at this little place on Dupont.

My friends and I shared a pitcher of red wine sangria. The sangria was loaded with deliciously fresh fruit. It was surprisingly strong too - usually, I find places just pour more juice than alcohol into sangria so I was pleasantly surprised when I sipped my sangria that I was able to taste the alcohol bouncing off some yummy juices.

I then ate the vegetarian stir-fry with tofu and quinoa. It was simply superb! A ton of veggies, nicely cooked (and firm) tofu, and a rich sauce on top. I'd order it again!

I'll hopefully be returning to Live soon :)

Raw food done right. If you are a committed meat eater and can't get your head around eating raw food stay away. I've been using my home dehydrator to make raw meals for some time - it is a science as well as an art - and Live does it right.
If you appreciate a change and want to have a delicious and truly nutritious meal try Live. It aint cheap, but it's super tasty. Try the entree sampler to get a taste of everything and don't forget that the desserts are on the heavy side, so you WILL be satisfied at the end of your meal.

I'm not a vegan nor a vegetarian but this restaurant was absolutely fantastic . Very fresh food & great service . Can't wait to go back .

Not great and pricey. Went to Live tonight and was so disappointed in our meal (especially since I had been looking forward to going for years). I had the Bacon Cheese burger because it sounded interesting and I just felt like a veggie burger but what I got was a bland, small and flavourless patty. It was suppose to be topped with all sorts of delicious toppings (eggplant bacon, sesame hemp mayo etc.) but all that I could taste was the chickpea patty (which completely fell apart after the second bit) and the bun. If there were toppings, you could hardly taste them. It was accompanied by a few soft (stale) veggie chips and a pickle (and it cost $15!). My boyfriend had the tofu and chips which came with nice tasting chickpea fries and some uninspired deep fried tofu and a bland salad ($16).

The place was quite busy, so they must be doing something right or maybe the area is just lacking in vegetarian restaurants but I wish this place could have been better. The service and decor were very nice though.

What a pleasant surprise. I am not a vegetarian and have no experience with raw food so I was a little skeptical when a friend suggested we go to Live Food Bar. What a revelation. The food was filling without being heavy and had excellent rich flavour. I had a Caesar salad made of kale leaves and it was delicious (better than a normal Caesar) and a mixed platter called the Raw combo or something that had a selection of pizza, tostada and a few other things. It was delicious. For dessert we had chocolate avocado pie (that's right - avocado!). I would never have ordered it but my friend told me to try it and I was shocked at how delicious it was. Anyway, I'm definitely hooked and plan to go back as there don't seem to be any other restaurants like this in Toronto.

Check it out!. Been there several times now and the food is always great. The staff are fast and polite! I would recommend that you definitely try this restaurant.!

Awesome food!. We have been there many times and the food is always fresh and really delicious. Among the many things we have ordered was the Mexican Dip, Big Bowl Salad, Sunshine Wrap, Tostadas, and the Key Lime Pie is out of this world!
We have always had great waiters too.
I would strongly recommend this restaurant!

Excellent Food - the best brunch I have ever had.. I ate brunch here last weekend and also dinner the following night. Contrary to older reviews here I found the service was great but the food was amazing....I think some bad apples are gone from there as I've eaten there in the past too. As a business owner I know its hard to find good staff. I had the crepes for brunch and for dinner I had the chickpea burger. Both were excellent and beautifully presented ...and I'm quite fussy. I've recommended it to others including my family who have also eaten there and they loved it. I would take the negative reviews here, that are mostly old anyway, and toss them out---or just look at the high percentage of people who love it above! Also I just realized they are on orderit.ca -- I am craving those crepes again...mmmmm

Good grief, never again. Menu looked good on paper, but in actuality it was disappointing. Considering it was busy, I was surprised to see only one waitress working. This meant having to wait 20 minutes for our drinks. The reuben I had sounded delicious, but was very bland and the "bread" was terrible. Overall, a let-down of an experience.
Jonmon
Not my taste, to be sure, but it seemed quite expensive for what it was.

Had the raw platter and was totally underwhelmed by it in terms of flavour, texture and presentation. Staff didn't seem all that friendly, kinda spaced out actually.

Good.. BUT.... Good food, but i once sat outside waiting to be served for over 20 minutes that i eventually left. they must've forgot about me. the quality is inconsistent. sometimes the house dressing is absolutely amazing and usually it isn't. their cooked menu is usually quite good.. i was surprised since they pride themselves on raw food, their cooked food is definitely yummy. their cocktails are bad though... i understand the importance of making good cocktails with fresh ingredients (they freshly juice the juices used), but i have a juicer at home and make way better cocktails... they aren't using their tools to the best of their abilities when it comes to the cocktails, and they're skimpy on the alcohol. the raw desserts are surprisingly amazing, especially the chocolate ones. the raw combo is good if you want to try raw foods but i find that the buckwheat crackers are pretty gross and cardboard-like, but the other things have intense flavours that kind of mask the taste of the buckwheat/cardboard biscuits. overall a great spot for food, but an awful spot for drinks. nice back patio... just don't sit on the front one in case they forget about you...

Live Food Bar = Extreme Lameness. I went to Live in April 2008 with a friend who was visiting from out of town. We both ordered entrees that came with salads. We were served our salads and finished them. My friend got her entree, but about half way through, I still hadn't gotten mine. They were sort of busy, so I assumed it was just taking awhile. However, the waitress eventually came with the bill and I still hadn't gotten my meal. We told her and she went back to the kitchen to "work something out". A manager or something (a blonde, tanorexic type) came out and gave us our bill. They discounted my salad 10% and my friend's meal 10%. That's right, they still charged me for my salad. The woman also told me that "next time" (as if I would go to this ridiculous place again) I should let them now that my food hadn't arrived, essentially blaming me for them screwing up my order and leaving me hungry! I have worked in the food service industry for years and I'd never experienced anything like this before. I was supposed to assume they were totally incompetent as opposed to totally slow? Okay, I'll be sure to do that "next time".
I understand that mistakes happen and sometimes orders can get misplaced or whatever in a kitchen. It would have been fine if that woman hadn't tried to put the blame on me. She should have just apologized and admitted they made a mistake. I also can't believe they thought 10% off my paltry salad was adequate compensation. It was so tacky and lame.

...Toronto’s first gourmet raw and vegan restaurant, created a line called Live Organic Raw that is appearing in grocery stores all over the GTA. Crafted from recipes at their restaurant, Live Organic Raw offers animal-free wraps, granola, cakes, juices, salads and more.

As our main dish, we split the Raw Pizza. It has a really delicious dehydrated sweet potato and walnut crust, vegan pesto, and two types of nut cheeze. It was topped with various garnishes and an edible flower, which I ate!

Live is a vegan, gluten-free restaurant with raw and cooked food that claims “95% of our menu is local or organic.” We have been several times. I ordered the Big Bowl w/ grilled tofu, field greens, kale, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, mixed seeds, avocado, micro greens, sunflower sesame hummus for $14. I really miss the mish mash bowl and wish they would bring it back.

I know what ya'll are thinking ...how did a person like me end up at Live Organic Food Bar? First off, I'm a little offended, I can eat rabbit food just like the rest of them, example: here. Secondly, I know, who am I kidding?! People like me do not eat at places like Live. So how did I get here? Well it all started with my sisters coworker Tommy, who has a lovely wife who cooks raw food at home, and since the three of us were stuck in Toronto for a whole week - we decided it would be fun to trying something new. So off to Live we went! Live offers 100% plant based, gluten and refined sugar free dishes. 95% of the menu is local or organic. They are proudly Toronto's first Gourmet Raw and Vegan Restaurant. They offer an extensive food and drink menu and do a great job of dividing the "raw" items vs "hot" items on the menu. Our server was very knowledgeable when I asked about a million and one questions as well - which is always greatly appreciated! As usual, I talked everyone into eati

Live has a great vibe to it and customers were constantly arriving either to have a seated meal or to pick up their take-out orders. The music is at just the right volume and the staff is friendly and accommodating. We were there for several hours and never felt rushed, nor got the idea that we were no longer welcome. Food arrives promptly and with a smile, water bottles are refilled, and the service is relaxed. So take your vegetarian friends, take your carnivorous friends: they will likely all be satisfied. The portions are well-sized and, most importantly, the food is delicious.
Me. Myself. And Food.
This sounded like the perfect opportunity to try the Live Organic Food Bar, a raw vegan restaurant who offers “an array of gourmet, gluten and sugar free, vegan dishes to invigorate and cleanse your body, mind, and soul”.
