Review Southern Accent - Toronto

Great ambiance and vibes, fantastic service. The calamari was - eh... (I’m super picky about my calamari though). The mains were not bad, really liked the sauce for the shrimp grits but overall meal felt a bit heavy. The jambalaya was good but the Cajun chicken was what made it pop, too bad we only got two pieces. It was definitely a hearty meal.

Very cool atmosphere with a lively waitress!! Party of 2... we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Voodoo pasta, blackened chicken with the piquant shrimp & hush puppies to start! The hurricane bug did not disappoint either. The only complaint would be with the Cajun Caesar... we were expecting different with a side of hot & spicy and was left disappointed... although it was tasty... it did just taste status quo.

I was eager to go to thos restaurant and have southern food. As soon as you walk in there a small bar on the right. We waited half a second to be greeted and seated. I loved the dark floors and tables. The place was almost full which is always a good sign. We were seated at the back which we loved because there was a mural. There were paintings on the wall that you could buy. I really enjoyed the ambiance. The place was full of energy. You could hear people talking, laughing and having a good time. On Tuesdays they have a psychic and you can have your fortune told, $20 for 10 mins. I will definitely be returning for a reading. Food: first we had cornbread. We both enjoyed it. It had butter on it. I prefer it without butter but the cornbread was good. I would definitely order again. I had seafood jambalaya, it was delicious. So much flavours! BF had the lamb burger. He enjoyed it and said the corn gave it a good flavour. For dessert we had a slice of homemade pecan pie. There's nothing better than homemade desserts! I did order a hurricane to drink. I can only remember it has rum. Its hard for me to describe alcohol but I can say that I did enjoy it too. I am excited to go back and try more food items!!!

Located right at Dundas and Ossington the Southern Accent is a really nice restaurant. It's got its own unique feel and the lighting adds a very mature ambiance. One of the more unique places I've been too and definitely one of my favorites. Our service was professional and we were treated with courtesy and respect. The food was also very flavourful. We tried the hush puppies, gumbo, pork tenderloin, voodoo pasta and beignets. The gumbo and beignets were fantastic and are definite recommendations when going there. The gumbo was hearty and the meat was excellent while the beignets were nice and soft and the sugar added a perfect amount of sweetness to it. The pork and pasta were also good as well and the blend of spices and sauces in them created a beautiful aroma and flavor. The hush puppies were decent and I thought nothing special of them but my other meals were much more satisfying. Lastly the pricing is a little bit high but it's still definitely worth it as you get a very vibrant environment and experience as well as some fantastic Cajun food.

Always a great spot for a Cajun food meat lover & vegan date night. The menu seasonally changes but if you’re vegan, you should ask if they can whip up some blackened tofu to start. We end up going a few times each year.

Love love love. We have been going here for years since they were at their old location. The food is always on point as is the service. The homemade hot sauce was so good that we used it as wedding favors for our wedding last year in June, our guests put requests in us to bring them bottles. Frances and Thess are an amazing team and I am always looking forward to my next meal. I recommend the hush puppies and voodoo shrimp and grits.

We catered our staff lunch from South Accent. The courteous, prompt service and food was well packaged and tasted awesome. Vegans & meat eaters were equally happy & excited. Most notable: BBQ ribs were super tasty and ohhh so tender. Jerk wings were well seasoned and mega delish (probably one of the best in the city that I've tasted) with a southern twist. Mac & cheese was yummo & Mardi Gras beads in the order was a nice personal touch! We will def cater here again!! Everything went super smooth from the first point of contact to the final delivery. Couldn't be more pleased. Thanks again Frances & Thess :))

Eclectic restaurant with great views and a very enjoyable experience! The décor speaks to the Cajun vibe of the restaurant, and the service here is very friendly and professional. The menu is full of options as well - the seafood pastalaya is a must-try, and the bread pudding is very tasty as well! Reservations for groups are recommended, as the restaurant tends to fill up for dinner as well. Definitely worth visiting if you're looking for some authentic Cajun cuisine!

Love this place. I am from the States and Haven’t has food this good and authentic in awhile. Shrimp and Grits. Omg they have grits!!!!! Was in heaven. The experience from when we walked in to the time we left was amazing. Extremely friendly staff and amazing food. What a combo!

Restaurant was recommended by someone at the PMCC and suggested that I try the Dauphine Street cracker catfish. OMG simply amazing. They could have cooked it with a book of matches under it and the chef still would have had it come out tasting so delicious. I will be back there for another plate. Well done Southern Accent. The Cajun dusted calamari however was what I was told to try as it is to be the best in the city. I didn’t taste any of the Cajun flavour and it was terribly chewy. Very disappointing. The hot sauce was the only thing that somewhat saved it.

The claims of having "the best calamari in town" are unwarranted. The food is subpar at best. Hopefully this was an off day.

Everything was great from start to finish. Thought my potato chip encrusted COD could use less coating and little bit more seasoning. The piquant shrimp was delicious especially the spicy sauce. I am not a seafood lover but the shrimp and calamari I indulged in, shocking my friends at the table. Great experience will eternal to try other stuff. Thanks to Luke and his wait staff.
