Review Chefs Hall - Toronto

This place is a bit difficult to find as the sign isnt obvious from the outside. It’s definitely unique in a sense that the place has a bunch of assorted restaurants within, so you can go as a group and choose whichever food you want to eat individually. It’s like food court but instead of fast food, it’s restaurant food. One major downside is when we went, lots of places were closed, likely due to covid, so there were not many to select from. I will return in the future if there are more restaurants occupying the place.

Very nice ambience with great vibes, great vibes, only 2 of the food spots were available on the Friday evening. The service was great and we loved the Mexican fries, the chicken karages and guac/chips. I was a little disappointed with the spicy shrimp and spicy mushroom tacos we had ordered, no bang to them but overall good experience (the size of the tacos was impressive though)

Super cool space. We only ate at Bear Sandwiches so far, but this place is awesome. Both their steak sandwich and toasties (upgraded grilled cheese) are amazing. The chimichurri is to die for! They get 5 stars hands down! The only caveat is the bar that was well equipped and had nice and friendly staff, but a bit disorganized. It felt as if it was their first week in business. Hopefully they get it together soon.

Love the location. This time at the Charcoal Biryani spot. Menu is limited which I understand. I ordered the Turkish lamb kebab. A little dry but very tasty! However the portion is so small for the $25 I just spent on it. A little lite on value. See photo.

An interesting assortment of resto"s all nestled in the same location. Many options and styles of food to offer. Spacing is a little tight but interesting. If you want a whole bunch of dining options, this place will definitely fit the bill.

Decent place for friends and night outs. Food quite good and tasty, though on the expensive side. Service is ok. The concept is interesting but I feel like because of the pandemic it had to be dialed back a bit from the walk and pick style that they go for. Would definitely want to see that reinstated in the future but other than that no major complaints.

Originally had a table for 7 and it went down to 5. They were so great to accommodate as we had booked two separate reservations not realizing and then asked for the tables to be combined. Super helpful they were with that. Our host Brandon was absolutely splendid and did everything he could to ensure we had a good time. We ordered a ton of drinks and at the time of this visit the only restaurants open were Mexican and Ramen. Ordered their tacos and the only one that was not good was their fish tacos. The chips from the chips and guac were really hard and seemed burnt. The location is great and the patio is huge. During covid they only had the patio open and the location of the patio is super windy. Bring a jacket even though it's summer. Would totally come back to try the different restaurant options

Great idea, lots of sitting space. Used to have a full roster of restaurants and multiple bars but got decimated by the pandemic. Just visited again tonight as I was looking for somewhere I and another could do some work at, grab some food and drinks. I forgot how loud the music can get but that's fine. I hope more restaurants come back. Also the food and drinks are quite premium priced, even for downtown.

Assembly has a bit of an industrial feel and reminds me a bit of Chelsea Market in NY. Lots of hustle and bustle and a cool vibe with lighting and decor. We went for lunch, and had great meals, but be fair warned. It’s not a cheap place to go for lunch and a big eater may feel hungry when they leave. We liked the concept of going to a couple of different spots and sharing food. We tried Restaurant Boemo and had the truffle oil, Brie, egg croissant with fries. Definitely tasty and tons of (a grown up version of McDonalds) fries. That was $22 before tip (truthfully anything with Brie or truffle oil will increase the price so not too alarming). We then had the three piece spicey honey chicken from Love Chix For $14 again before tip which was a nice surprise because it was boneless. While tasty, because of the lack of side, someone who’s used to going out for lunch getting a salad or starch on the side may have been left a little hungry (although we weren’t because of the mound of fries from the other location). A glass of wine and a beer cost $30. Typical Toronto pricing, but for the concept (it’s a gourmet food court where you serve yourself) one might think it may have been around $22-24 making it comparable to most lunch venues. Overall an enjoyable experience, but with Winterfest going on and for example we had lunch at scaddabush the other day for $23 each and that included an appetizer, Main and dessert the restaurants need to do better on their pricing or offer more value for returning guests. If I based my rating off of the time I had I’d give it 5 stars because of the company and we were just happy to get out in the city, but honestly it’s more of a three star rating because of the cool vibe, it’s conveniently located to the downtown action and the food was tasty. Add better value then I’d give it a higher rating.

I would love to rate the place 5 star. But I seriously can't support a "Food Hall" that tries to gouge you with some ridiculous pricing. I have been there 6 times, wanted to go through all the shops (its underneath my office). But that's pretty much it, not gonna go back. Can't afford to keep paying 20$ for some small portions of food. And after speaking to the shop owners seems like the hall is overcharging them for the stalls. Gonna go to the original stores if I am craving their food. Where the food is much cheaper than the prices for the same dish at the food hall.

We went last night, Tuesday. The concept, vibe, atmosphere and decor in the hall is really great. We ordered pizza from The Good Son and a burger from Resto Boemo both tasted great and were $14, however the single patti burger was overpriced for its size (it did include fries). We also had an oatmeal bar, vanilla cupcake and dulce du leche cookie from Short and Sweet all 3 we delicious. I was shocked and disappointed that both Bulldog Coffee and Nut Bar were closed at 6.15pm when we got there. When I enquired, I was told both places closed at 5pm and the bar doesn't serve tea or coffee either. So odd, as many people drink tea or coffee later then 5pm!!!! A friend joined us at 7.30pm and found Dailo was out of duck and the portion of pork she got was so small and over priced at $14. Short and Sweet and Resto Boemo were all closed up when we left at 8.30pm. The hall is advertised as being open until 10. I realise the place is new but it has been open for a couple of weeks now. The restaurants should be managing their product inventory better and order more to cater for the volume of customers they are serving.

We needed a place like this in Toronto. The market in Florence has something similar on the second floor - loved it three years ago. I went mid afternoon so it would be quieter and I could sit with a coffee and take everything in. Damn, forgot to take you up on the offer of a free coffee. Highly recommend. Will there be an oyster bar?

Really impressive and creative concept. Met a colleague for lunch here yesterday, so many options from some of the top chefs in Toronto you don’t have to pre-agree on eating the same as the company you are with. Service was quick and easy to find seating. Had the truffle gnocchi from Boemo that was definitely worth going back for.

Neat concept and fabulous to try but not feel full at all afterwards. I understand, given the novelty, nice new decor and cavernous space = $$$, they need to charge what they charge for the tiny portions in order to survive. Won't be going back with any frequency unless I want to pay $20 again for 3 small pieces of (not organic) chicken (actually it was only 2.5 pieces, the third piece looked like it was purposely chopped into a half piece smaller than the size of a half small drumstick - worried people might get full on the portion I suppose). Great to sit down and have a latte but don't expect to be full after dropping $20 - $25 for lunch.

Unlike anything in Toronto — a collection of amazing chef’s and restaurants under one roof. Great vibes for lunch and dinner with amazing food, music and drinks.

Absolutely amazing. It’s not just a place to have phenomenal eats, but an entire experience. Games, fun drinks, food music, photo booth....the fun never ends!!

We had the tacos - frankly, better places in the city but still good. We also shared a vegan crepe for dessert - it was good but cost more then the dinner tacos.

Great spot for lunch...lots of choices of food types but each stall has a limited menu to make for easy decisions and quick service!

I love all the choices in this place! A friend and I got a nice guided tour during the soft launch and the vendors we went to were very friendly. Of course, the food we ate was great too! We had ramen and fried chicken sandwiches and took home some spicy popcorn. So happy a place like this opened up in Toronto. I hope this place does well as I look forward to coming here many times in the future!

Great place for a group who can't agree to go with. Good quality food so you don't mind the higher cost. Near vibe!

Colobri Tacos were incredible. And we used to live in LA! The handmade tortillas are a meal in and of themselves, and the salsas were each delicious. The pizza we got for the girls was also really good.

Very cool place to hangout, from solo dining to party for 30. Lots of very talented chefs, interesting dishes & flavors - from indulgence food to healthy vegan options. Something for everyone.
