Fred's not Here is very catchy in terms of the name! Who is Fred? Why do we care if he's here? Personally I don't care. All I care about is the yummy food being there!πŸ€—

The menu offered for summerlicious at Fred's not Here was quite appealing. There's a variety of meat entrees, seafood and vegetarian dishes. Hence, there's bound to be something for everyone. We selected a combination of seafood and steak. And let me tell you it was very delicious. The California cut wood grilled 'Espresso coffee' New York Strip loin was so good! Cooked perfectly -medium rare! It was like a work of art! Well done! The duck fat frites that accompanied the steak was so delicious that I didnt mind consuming every ounce of the fat! πŸ˜„ The seafood paella was loaded with seafood. Lobster, clams, mussels, tiger shrimps, and calamari. The rice was fully infused with the seafood flavor and aroma! It was very yummy!

I was so eager to talk about the mains I forgot about the appetizers! Their famous baked lobster and crab soup was so devine. The soup is presented with a puffed pastry. Once you poke a hole through the pastry there is a tunnel of of hot steam that seeps out! Wow pipping hot! Exactly how I like my soup! The flavor was so intense and again like the seafood paella, it was infused with seafood flavor. The escargots were were very tasty. Nested in garlic butter and mushrooms. I loved soaking the sweet bread with the garlic butter ! Within the dessert realm I would say the desserts were very average. We landed on the Gelato and almond cake and both were fair. However, what made the dinner memmorable for us were the mains and appetizers !

I never uaually visit the same place that I've been to already for summerlicious the second time but I think there's always an exception for every situation. It was really that good at Fred's not Here that I'm almost eager to go back again within the same week! πŸ€—πŸ˜πŸ΄πŸ›

Went for summerlicious 2017 dinner. The food was amazing. Tried their famous baked lobster and crab soup and loved it. Also tried baked escargot stuffed mushroom garlic butter n grana padano, it was quite tasty. For the entrees tried seafood paella and the California cut "expresso coffee" New York striploin with duck frites. The steak was cooked to perfection at medium rare. The seafood paella had a variety of components ranging from half a lobster, shrimps, mussels and clams that made the rice so good.
I will be back to try their non summerlicious menu.

Went for summerlicious with 2 other friends. I ordered soup and paella. Food is tasty but the service is too slow. It took us 2 hours to finish the meal. Each dish takes about 30 min to cook.

Fred's Not Here and The Red Tomato are at the same place - one upstairs and the other downstairs. Both have been around for a long time and should be experienced before the condo developers destroy the area.

A nice place if you are in the entertainment district. The gumbo is very good and the hot rocks are unique. I find their menu needs some new additions but place is ok.

This place is fantastic. The food was delicious, the vibe was nice, and the service was great. I had the blackened salmon and tiger shrimp with lemon risotto and the flavours were so delicious. Freddy Eriye had the short ribs with mashed potatoes and he fell in love. The meat was tender and moist with lots of flavour and the gravy was delicious. We'd definitely go again.

Really good summerlicious menu for dinner. We had the lobster bisque (mmm) seafood linguine and paella. Finished off with decent desserts. Extremely full and large portions. Good service!

Good service. Atmosphere good - just enough background noise to have private conversations with a small group or with one other person.
Food - modest portion sizes. Brisket was quite delicious and came with a well-made risotto. Ribeye was good - well flavored - maybe even a little too fatty. New York was only okay.
Given the calibre of other restaurants in the area, I'm not sure if this would warrant a visit, especially at the price point.

Great small plates. The plates were unique and tasty. 4 of us shared 6 plates and that worked out pretty well. The crispy duck wings were interesting and the duck fat fries were very good. Everything else was good but perhaps not memorable. I would recommend you try to the small plates.

Very good food. Better value.. I went with my wife and son for their Summerlicious lunch. They must have lost money offering a three-course meal for $20. The crab and lobster bisque was as good as others have said. Our three main courses were all excellent, and quite inventive. (Who'd have thought to combine fried pork belly, clams, andouille sausage and couscous?) Only slip-up in service is when the server brought us the wrong dessert, so they packed those up to take home and brought us what we ordered. If the goal of their participation in Summerlicious was to entice us in so that we would come back another time, it worked.

I was here for the winterlicious lunch on feb 9 2013. I was impressed with my entire experience. I originally ordered the ceaser salad but as it was the more traditional ceaser I sent it back as I do not like the taste of anchovi paste. The waitress had no problem switch my appetizer to the vegetable soup, which I quite enjoyed. Then came the entree. I ordered the sirloin steak with duck fat frites with green beans and it was delicious. The wood grilled steak was cooked to perfection and was presented very nicely (see photo). The desert was also presented very well but the chocolate avalance cake was a little dry and I enjoyed my girlfriends strawberry shortcake much more...lol! Anyways I will return. Thank you for a nice lunch!

Great Steak. My wife and I just had lunch here for Winterlicious. We had the crab/lobster soup, the gumbo and the California cut sirloin with duck fat frites. The food was great. The steaks were cooked perfectly with a nice char. The waitress was friendly and prompt. The only negatives for me was the mediocre beer list and the somewhat rude Maitre d'.

Very good food! The steak was tender and tasted wonderful! The caesar salad was very great and refreshing! I love the tobasco sauce they put in it! The duck fat fries were very good to! Overall, good good good!

A little over priced but unlike some of the other revirws, I like the food and service. And judging how many people were eating lunch today - it can't be that bad. I had the chicken jungle curry spiced perfectly, with a little extra heat as requested, with the double choc mousse for.dessert. Both very good. Take someone you like.

Very creative dishes. We finally dined here on friday after walking past for years. I love it when I can't pick my entree because I'm torn on the side dishes, that's always a good sign. I ended up having giant sea scallops with beef short rib and wild mushroom risotto, so good! My boyfriend had the beef brisket, which was to die for, I'll probably get it next time just to try the risotto that he subbed out for mashed potatoes (I know, crazy). I would offer one criticism to the owner: the ambiance really is not in keeping with the quality of the food and service, I think you can do better. The music is inappropriate and played so softly it sounds like elevator music. I understand that the open kitchen requires some serious ventilation, but I want a restaurant to smell like food, I couldn't smell any food. Also it was freezing, I saw a few women huddled under scarves and cardigans. I was sitting against the wall on the left when you enter the dining room and every time the door to the kitchen was opened I could smell stale cigarette smoke.... kinda gross, but despite those things (which would ruin another restaurant for me) I really enjoyed myself. Our server was amazing, so pleasant and very professional. The menu is so creative and enticing I can't wait to go back and try something else.

Good inventive food. I admittedly dined there a couple years ago, so it's not a fresh review (sorry). I had this caveman-sized piece of pork (a hock of sorts, I think) with a side of very tasty lentils. The appetizer was this lovely little soft-shelled crab deep-fried and served atop some kind of cracker with a tasty aioli. I've been sold on soft-shelled crab since (see my post about Big Fish in Calgary). The atmosphere was neat (open kitchen, buzzy crowd) and the service was good.

Winterlicious. I went here twice, once for summerlicious '09 and winterlicious '10.

I highly recommend the crab and lobster soup appetizer. The steaks were tasty.

This seafood paella was awsome! The rice was drenched with flavours from all the seafood and had a tomatoey flavour with that as well. Each dish got half a lobster, a massive scallop, some tiger shrimps, a bit of octopus, squid, and clams/mussels.

Gord and I went to Fred's Not Here (King Street W) tonight. We were lucky enough to get a table on the patio. I had pork quesadillas, fish and chips and apple normandy. Gord had duck instead of fish and chips. The food was yummy and the service was good, considering how busy it was. We would go back.

The downstairs bar has a nice happy hour every night after 4pm. Chill location that not many people know about. Only down side is when it does get busy the 1 bartender is swamped and is slightly understaffed. Nice lady though. The kinda bartender you'd want on your side in a fight.

Loved this place! Small but cozy. Loved the concept of one restaurant upstairs and another on the basement. Our server was AMAZING and very attentive even though it was busy. The coconut shrimp was so delicious! We also had the calamari as an appetizer. The mushroom pasta was incredible. And my sister LOVED the hangover cure pizza. Desserts were great too- espresso creme brule, pecan pie and apple blossom.

Great food and service. The atmosphere is small, warm and inviting. Limited amount of seating areas as well as a bar but was able to get a seat for two pretty quickly on a weekend. Server was nice and helpful. The food was great although, I personally would've loved a larger portion but on that note it's good too since you don't over eat. Not too pricey for the area. Definitely try their pasta!

I have been there for a few Friday nights for the awesome new drag & burlesque show Queens on King. The show is fantastic! The host (Scarlett Bobo), is funny, talented and charismatic and puts on an amazing show. The guest performers change weekly, but the show is always awesome. There is a fantastic drink special during the show ($6.00 for a 2oz. martini). The space is cosy and welcoming, the staff are great and the food is excellent. I'm especially fond of the Coconut Shrimp and the Angel Hair Past with Garlic Shrimp. Yumm. If you want a great meal with an amazing show, come by on a Friday night between 8pm and 10pm.
