Excellent steak
The restaurant has a warm pub feel, a welcome for us during the cold snowy night. I ordered the special which was a giant steak, juicy and done just as I wanted - tender meat with crispy edge, just yum! My husband got the ribs which was delicious. Staff were very friendly and we were happy overall with our visit.
A great pub/restaurant in an elegant heritage mansion on Jarvis south of Wellesley offers good and fresh pub fare in both a restaurant and pub dual-mode, with a good drinks selection and efficient staff. It is also a great oasis for that early happy hours getaway where one can meander with a drink to their garden, as in this occasion.
Great food and reasonable price. Plenty of seats with some booths available. I would recommend it for brunch etc. The price is reasonable. The location is East of downtown/ Yonge street but in a walking distance to subway stations.
I had a great time at The Blakehouse. I love the atmosphere, cozy decor, and the food was surprisingly not bad. They had a daily special when we went, their crab cakes. I don't normally like crab cakes, but these were EXTREMELY good! The service we had was good too! Oh and as you can tell from the terrible photo, the bar was a bit too dark.
Went here for Sunday brunch. Everything was delicious. It was busy but we weren't rushed. Proces were reasonable and the service was good. I'd be back!
Recently ate here on their patio, it was lovely! The staff is great, & very friendly! I ordered the mac & cheese with a salad. The Mac & cheese was super delicious and flavourful. The prices are reasonable, we will certainly go back!!

Had a gift certificate to The Blake House and chose to use it for brunch. I know it sounds mean, but I really was expecting average food from The Blake House - not sure why. But wow, portions were great, prices reasonable (under $16), but more importantly, the food was delicious! I got the lemon and blueberry pancakes, and being a lover of pancakes, I was relieved to see a golden crust and moist middle. There was a hint of lemon, but it was not overpowering - they were memorable!
My boyfriend on the other hand is a steak snob, and when he decided to order the steak, I began to prep myself for a conversation on how wrong the steak was cooked. But thank God! Though not perfectly medium, it was juicy, well seasoned, and in his words, "this is so tasty!" Tasty is the word he uses for delicious.
I have to also mention the great service. We were not bombarded with attention, but when we needed something, like a coffee refill, they were on it!
Thank TBH for the opportunity to try items from your brunch menu. You have become a "must return soon" spot. Will bring my friends next time.
I enjoyed a cold Blanche de Chambly on their large and laid back patio. For food, I ordered the Blake Baked Mac and Cheese ($15) and it came with a side salad. This dish was flavourful and well-portioned. Service was friendly. Overall, a pleasant experience.
Best brunch in Toronto for under $20 (including top)! I had the monte cristo sandwich which was delightfully pan-fried to a golden brown crisp. The bacon and ham weren't too salty and the hashbrown and fruit on the side was a nice touch. Also, they have a patio!
Great prime rib!. Had there prime which was delicious and comes with complimentary bread! Great price and definitely recommend!
Nice place. Came for an early dinner/late lunch. Friendly service and good food.
The Greek salad was fresh and the French onion soup was flavorful
with a generous topping of melted cheese. A step up from a standard
pub without any added expense.
Extremely friendly staff and awesome menu choices. Family owned and you can tell because they make you feel like part of the family. Huge attention to details.
Great place!. I have been to the Blake House many times and always enjoy the food and atmosphere. Great patio in the summer, I highly recommend it!
Well priced food for what you get. Certainly a nice step up from typical pub fanfare, making it a great choice for a casual dinner.
French onion soup, green salad both great. Poutine could use some work on the gravy. Just went in for a quick bite with my mom and these three items shared filled us both!

Went for winterlicious, apparently their first year participating. I had the French onion soup (pretty good), pork chop (a little dry but lovely) and the cheesecake (good). Service was great and the owner came around to check in. Great atmosphere. Great meal, very satisfying, wouldn't return right away, but a good choice to revisit.
So glad I have this neighbourhood right outside my door! Nice low key, yet classy, atmosphere. The Sunday Prime Rib special is a must have, and my personal fav is the chicken pot pie!
I'm not sure what GLam is talking about. The food was great. The mussels appy was so tasty we sopped up every last drop of it and the steak pie was so good I couldn't stop thinking of telling all my British friends. The decor has been redesigned with beautiful dark wood and old pictures of Jarvis St. and now it had a really cozy vibe. Great for a cold winter day.
I thought The Blake House did well. Sure the appetizers needed work, and every chef should know better than to send a dish out without tasting it first, or at least taste the soup directly from the pot! Come on! Isn’t that Chef 101? But I will let it go because I loved the fries, the ice cream and my friend loved his macaroni and cheese with real cheese. :)
dre @ Jarvis & Wellesley: The advantages of eating with more people for Winterlicious is that there's a greater chance of trying all the dishes on the menu. Between the four of us, we managed to order every item. Coincidentally, Adrian and Mike got the exact same things, and Amanda and I ordered the other dishes on the menu. Amanda ordered the Organic Green Salad - Variety of organic greens, shaved red onion, fennel and sliced English cucumber, served with our extra virgin olive oil white wine vinegar dressing. Mike and Adrian both got the French Canadian Onion Soup - Roasted chicken broth, caramelized onions, house-made bacon baked with aged white cheddar. I had a small spoonful; it tasted salty to me, but the boys enjoyed it. I like how it's called French Canadian onion soup.
