Review Trattoria Nervosa - Toronto

Yuki
Really friendly staff. The risotto tasted so good, love the mushroom flavor. The pizza was thin and crispy with a hint of spicy. Would love to try the kale salad next time since every table is ordering one. Love the tiramisu! It’s not too sweet, and it’s perfect for the dessert after. Great place to go.

The Regina Margherita pizza is AMAZING. I've never tasted such a sweet tomato sauce!! It's my go-to every time I come to Nervosa - great for one person or to share with friends! The pasta was fresh and had a great bounce to every bite.

Good Italian style restaurant, with a nice outdoor patio, and large selection of drinks. It’s a great place for a date. The food is good, but not exceptional. The area around the restaurant is nice to take a walk after.

One of my favourite Italian spots in Toronto. Consistently good quality. I always go back for the polipo and the risotto but decided to try something new today and didn't regret it. Had the branzino and it was amazing! Beautiful selection of g&t cocktails too.

The Mafalde ai Funghi was amazing! The cream sauce with four different types of mushroom is the best. Even you don’t like mushrooms you will still fall in love with this dish!! Risotto is also a must order! The 3rd floor patio is open and worth the waiting! They only take walk in. So make sure you come early to get on the stunning patio!

My favourite place for girls night or a nice dinner all by myself. I’ve been coming here for years and the experience has always been great. Service is friendly, ambiance is intimate and food is awesome! The patio is great for summer evenings. I ordered my favourite mushroom pasta. The pasta is perfectly al dente. The sauce is creamy and rich but not overwhelming. The mushrooms are *chefs kiss*. My friend ordered a margherita pizza. It’s the perfect thin crust, fresh, classic pizza. Lovely tomato sauce with the perfect amount of cheese and basil. I love the risotto and kale salad too. Must try. Beautiful wine and G&T selection as well.

Delicious Italian food in a nice setting. Very intimate restaurant that feels like you went to eat at someone's house. Reasonable price for the area and decent portion sizes.

My boyfriend and I love Trattoria Nervosa. We first discovered it last summer and went back in the winter. The food is just as good as we remembered — if not better! I got a Njuda Pizza which came with honey, peppers, and ground sausage. I don’t typically eat pork, or meat for that matter, but this was definitely worth it. My boyfriend got the Funghi Pasta which I preferred out of the both of our dishes. It was creamy, robust, flavourful and perfectly cooked. And our drinks went perfectly with our meals. We tried the B.A.D. Boy and Must Be Nice (This drink was the best). I had to return the original drink I ordered which was Islington because it just didn’t suit my palette. It’s a small space and was a bit louder than expected but the service was fairly quick and the woman serving us was very helpful. I just wish they would bring back the Pantheon cocktail. It’s the BEST drink I’ve ever had in my life!

Without a doubt one of the

Without a doubt one of the best meals we’ve ever ever had. Cannot imagine ever ordering meals aside from the mushroom pasta and short rib risotto - incredible. Our sever David was incredible and very helpful; if you have the chance, ask for him. Can’t imagine ever finding a better meal in Yorkville. Will be back every time we come here.

My husband who is a US citizen and I his wife from France but living in the US are visiting Toronto, city that both never visited to see my granddaughter who is studying at the University of Toronto from Boston, We are staying in Yorkville part and we stumbled about the Restaurant Nervosa. What a nice place, small and a bit noisy during lunch but great atmosphere. .The food was excellent and the service was amazing. We were served by Thomas who was the best server I ever met. Not intrusive but yet knowing when to refill our glasses either with wine or water. He made a recommendation for us for wine and cheese and he was dead on. The wine was superb and the choice of 3 cheese he chose for us were amazing after I told him I like cheese either Brie range or Manchego. He delivered. A bit pricey but we never felt like we had to leave. They allowed us to stay over 2 hours there with no pressure, refilling our bottle of water. It was worth spending the money for such a great meal and service. I will recommend it to anyone. Nice place, convivial,

We had a very pleasant lunch with good attentive service. I had the short rib risotto which was good and my wife had the spicy prawn pasta which was pleasantly spicy and good to eat. The Panacotta was fine, although we couldn’t identify any taste of Earl Grey in the meringue. Peroni is Peroni but the glasses had been chilled. We would return. Good customer relations, our grandson gave his mobile number so they could SMS when the table was free and they immediately identified him by his first name as he had eaten at another of their restaurants.

Yorkville staple. Upstairs patio is perf for a lazy summer afternoon. Mafalde ai funghi is my fav, the mushroom and truffle combination compliment eachother. Definitely recommend, this is the spot.

Trattoria Nervosa has been a Yorkville culinary mainstay for the past twenty plus years. Opened in 1996 by Janet Zucharini, it offers up a wide variety of Italian dishes for every taste, including pasta, pizzas, and meat and fish dishes. They also have daily specials like Arctic Char and Orata All'Acqua Pazza (grilled sea bream). Try the Insalata di Cavolo Nero (Kale Salad), the Agnolotti di Zucca (Butternut Squash Agnolotti) and finish it off with their home-made Cannoli paired with an Americano. Reservations are recommended as this is a bustling spot, or you can opt for takeout and delivery. Buon appetito!

The highlight of my pizza was the rapini and fennel sausage topping...very flavourful...oh, and the house olive oil to drizzle on top. The crust was not too dense - light enough that you can enjoy the whole thing and not feel bloated. I liked the homemade biscotti, although for $2 each, it was on the small side. I love the ambience of the rooftop patio!

Great experience, my boyfriend and I went here for our one year anniversary. It was very romantic especially the patio overlooking yorkville. Food was great! Only thing that I didn't like was how close the tables were to one another, you could literally here someone else's conversation right in your ear.

Trattoria Nervosa is located in a cute yellow house in Yorkville proudly serving Southern Italian cuisine since 1996. 1996!! 20 years of experience in serving delicious food? Who could say no?

Nervosa (@NervosaTO) has four spaces where you can eat - a dining room downstairs, a patio outside, a dining room, and a patio area upstairs. And since it was a beauty day, the patios were open! As a lover of natural lighting, of course we opted for the upstairs patio.

While looking through the antipasti menu, we saw two boards: charcuterie and cheese. Unfortunately (or fortunately hehe), there was no option to order half of each board. But we were advised that if you wanted both boards, you'd have to order both. So.... That's what we did.
With four different cured meats and three different cheeses, I present you our tagliere di formaggi and misto. We were able to choose which three cheeses we wanted (out of a selection of 6). Each component to the board was essential and delicious.

For our mains, we ordered the Capensate dish and their famous pasta dish, Mafalde ai Funghi.

Portobello, porcini, crimini, and oyster mushrooms (basically a bunch of different kinds of mushrooms) mixed in with parmigiano, truffle paste, and a light cream sauce - brings you this beautiful plate of pasta.
If you're a mushroom lover, like I am, you will understand exactly why this is one of the most popular pasta dishes to order. With a creamy sauce base and a delicious mushroom in each bite (and the truffle!), this pasta is a definite favourite of mine.

The capensate dish was actually served on a board. With four juicy scallops (seared perfectly, might I add) on a chickpea puree and a side of a baby kale salad with an artichoke vinaigrette topped with pistachios. The description is a mouthful to read, but also a mouthful of deliciousness. Each and every ingredient worked well together, and the man sitting next to us agreed!

For dessert, we got a chance to try the Tiramisu (lady finger, coffee, and mascarpone cheese layered in a jar topped with cocoa nibs) and the Lemon Semifreddo (lemon custard, pistachio crumb, and honey toffee). I am a sucker for tiramisu, so this is a definite yes. The lemon semifreddo surprised me though. It was a cold, semi-frozen custard - so refreshing after such a meal!

Nervosa is under the umbrella of Gusto 54 Restaurant Group, who also own Gusto 101 and Pai in Toronto. They will be opening up a sister restaurant to Gusto 101 on the east end called Gusto 501 real soon, and I can't wait! But until then... Step on over to Bloor Street and visit Yorkville! You'll find a yellow house on the corner of Yorkville and Bellair Street.

Trattoria Nervosa is a Yorkville institution that has been in business before the turn of the century. There never seems to be a shortage of diners visiting the restaurant, especially during the warmer weather where their two-floored outdoor dining space is in demand.

The carpaccio di manzo ($14.99) is a tantalizing dish of thinly sliced beef tenderloin topped with meaty cannellini beans and generous shavings of pecorino (a hard salty cheese). It’s full of flavour thanks to the truffle oil and dots of garlic aioli scattered throughout. The appetizer was a fantastic start and could even work as a lighter meal when paired with a salad and bread.

Not really thinking about our overall order, we also opted for a meat centric pizza. The Contadina ($17.49) is tomato-sauce based and loaded with charcuterie – capicollo (dry cured ham),

The food is to die for. One of my favourite spots in the city! Every single bite is heaven.
However.. the service that we received yesterday at lunch was terrible. The staff we encountered was beyond rude and slightly pretentious. It took 15 minutes for our server to greet and water the table and everything from that moment on was slow service. We were trying to have a celebratory lunch, but after our mains were finished we were again forgotten about. I had to ask another server for a dessert menu and coffees (another encounter with a rude employee) and when I asked for a cortado she responded with a passive-aggressive "I don't know what that is."
Even though the experience yesterday wasn't the best, the food is just SO good... and we would go back.

Every year my girl friend and I make a trip to swanky Yorkville to indulge in one of my favourite pizzas, Sangria and atmospheres. We call it our anniversary dinner.
Strangely, we are always lucky enough to get the exact same table on the upstairs patio.
Every year like clock work we order the same items, the Asiago Al Forno to start, white sangria (if it happens to be lunch time and I am not driving a pitcher is ordered!) and the Regina Margherita pizza. Dessert (probably the tiramisu) and cappuccinos to finish.
With a price tag of $60.00 a person this is one of my favourite indulgences. We have the best conversations on this patio.
The service is not bad, it is a little distracted and hurried, but it is efficient and cordial.
See you next year!
Samantha
Always a great time! The best place to sit is the upstairs patio! Usually a wait, but worth it(and you might even see a celeb!) The pasta with the mushrooms is the best....totally 10/10! I convince everyone to try it when they come with me, and I have yet to have a disappointed friend! Basically the same menu as their sister restaurant, Gusto 101 at King! Amazing food and great atmosphere!
Cris
Food is good but I still prefer Gusto 101 which is its sister restaurant. Mainly for the atmosphere and staff as they are much nicer and accommodating. I had to ask twice for the bread they normally serve you.

Nervosa is a local place for me. Often busy but worth the wait. Love the generous salads and variety of pizzas from their brick oven. Sipped a super white sangria on the patio. A pleasure.
SarahNOM
Patio is excellent although often packed, nice big upstairs for big groups too. Salads are tasty, good ceasers! Not much more to say, just a nice spot if you're in the area

Rude waiting staff.. The staff was rude to us the moment we walked in. They acted like we were just bothering them the entire time. Our table was so small and already crowded from bread, drinks, etc. - when our appetizer arrived, the waitress said "I'm sure you'll figure it out" and literally handed me the plate to put on the table before quite literally running away. A previous post that said the staff gossip about their customers - bang on. I actually heard them talking about us. This isn't a New York City 5 star restaurant, get over yourselves.

Italian is probably my favourite cuisine as I simply cannot live without pasta - well, it's a close race between Italian and Korean. One of my go-to spots in Toronto for Italian is Trattoria Nervosa , tucked away in Yorkville. It's one of those places that I revisit often and order the same dishes so I assumed I wrote a blog post about it previously but I was wrong! I will share my favourite dishes at Nervosa - the ones that I always order - in this post. Each time I dine there, the food is consistently delicious and I like the welcoming & lively atmosphere (although it tends to get too crowded there sometimes). Did I mention their service is also great? The staff is friendly and attentive and I never had a complaint. As for timing, I've been for both lunch and dinner on weeknights and weekends and it's busy most of the time. I find that the awkward times like just before the dinner peak at 5:30 - 6PM and just after the lunch rush at 2 - 4PM is the best time to ensure you'll get seats. Contadina Pizza ($17.49) - pictured above Tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, capicollo, sopressata berkshire sausage, San Daniele prosciutto & basil This pizza is good but it was my first time trying it just for the sake of trying something other than the Margherita & the Prosciutto e Rucola. Mafalde ai Funghi ($18.49) - pictured above Portobello, oyster mushrooms, porcini mushrooms, crimini mushrooms, parmigiano, truffle paste & light cream sauce I am a mushroom lover so this pasta is everything to me! The rich truffle pasta in the light cream sauce with the different mushrooms is perfecto. Risotto Nervosa ($25.49) Barolo braised beef short rib with local field and porcini mushrooms & fig balsamic reduction It's a great entree for dinner with tender beef short rib and risotto with truffle oil - it's love! Spaghetti alla Chitarra con Vongole e Gamberi ($17.99) Tiger shrimp, clams, white wine, garlic, cherry tomatoes & arugula in tomato sauce & Nervosa olive oil Ah, yes the seafood spa

Trattoria Nervosa is chic casual authentic Italian restaurant in Yorkville, Toronto. It neighbours several trendy boutique shops like Anthropologie , Pink Tartan which also carries WANT Les Essentiels and Uncle Otis Clothing . The restaurant itself has two floors with a beautiful patio space upstairs and on the street level. I love the upstairs dining room space. It is very cozy.

Overall: (Pretty pricey but) amazing food and drinks. Great atmosphere (especially out in the patio during warm seasons!!!) Service could be better (slow due to the busyness of the place).

I came here on a Friday afternoon/evening in April, when the temperature went up to 20 degrees. I wasn't really here to have a meal; I came here just for drinks and an appetizer (and mostly to enjoy the sun out in the patio). This place was very busy (I was lucky enough to get a seat for two, but there was a long line up right after I got seated). I got their Sangria and cheese/salami board to share with a friend. They were both exquisite- sangria was perfectly made with red wine and fruits, and the cheese/salami board had variety of cheese/cured meats- very pleasant experience. The only downside was that the tables were very close to each other, it made me feel a little crammed. Also, it took us a long time to get our server each time, just because this place is so crowded. It was definitely an enjoyable experience overall though! I want to come back next time to try out their food (the woman sitting next to us was saying how their margherita pizza was really good).

Descent atmosphere, terrible food (relative to other dining establishments). I ate here in the new Year. (2015). The atmosphere is nice, the waitress was pleasant. The food however was terrible- sorry to say it. I have eaten along the King West area in Toronto- and many places in Woodbridge- and this is the saddest excuse for Italian I've been to, especially when you look at the price point. Generally speaking, Their food was either gummy, burnt tinge to it, and not very authentic. Just crap all around. I swear to god, I could find the same quality food at an italian buffet at a local bakery- which it would be fine for- if it was a work 30 minute lunch or dinner break. I was Looking forward to having a nice dinner- a once a month kind of thing after a long meeting- I was disappointed to eat this food. Usually these type of restaurants have you licking your fingers and smiling. I went home thinking there goes my nice dinner for the month. Overall- its hard to pinpoint, but rather- they need a new chef. This chef is hack- kind of an all around ragu guy. I would never go back here or recommend t to anyone. Also, their menu selection is weak- they lack much of what make Italian restaurants so popular. Meat dishes are weak as are the pastas. What a waste of $.
Summer_angel1
Very bad service. The staff gossips about their customers.
The tables are very close together so there is little privacy.
Also, because the tables are so close together it is hard to get in and out without wobbling the other person's table.
The food is sub-par.
Overall, Toronto is a great place for foodies. This restaurant will NOT give you the feel of genuine, helpful staff with delicious well-priced food.
If you're in Yorkville, Pangea and Yamato are awesome.
Jack Astor's is a less expensive option with very friendly staff, well-priced food and a large selection.

Simply great Italian food!. Cozy Italian place in the glitzy Yorkdale. It's pretty cramped and busy even on a Wednesday night which says a lot. Very loud due to the small size of the dining rooms. but the food was delightful! Barley risotto is full of flavor and generous on mushrooms. Insalata Caprese offers a modern take on an Italian classic with a beautiful colourful presentation. I asked for chicken with mine which was moist and perfectly seasoned. The only complaints are that the tiramisu seems to have shrunk from prior years and cappuccino is very milky, you can't even taste coffee in it.

Pizzas. Served nepolitano style but were never told.. They were cold and and pizza crust was soggy. Sent them back and they came back same way.. They must have put them under the lights for One second... Very disappointed.
Mm
Cramped but Good. Packed in like sardines in the dining room but the food is excellent. Don't mind overpaying if the food is excellent and Nervosa is just that. Terrific risotto and pasta. Would go again and wait again for a table.

Not Worth the Price. We had all heard RAVE reviews about this place so I went here late night with my sister and best friend to grab a quick bite to eat --- we all ordered pastas - portions were small and food wasn't bad but it wasn't GREAT either - i didn't like the water glasses we were served, they were like mason jars or something and they felt dirty. the Bill came to almost $80 for only 3 pastas, food was OK, not worth the price.

Favorite spot in Yorkville. Came to Nervosa last Tuesday for a business meeting, my colleague suggested the spot. When we arrived I wasnt sure what to think but then started to notice the culture of the restaurant was different than many I'd been to before. Everyone was happy (genuinely) and there was no shortage of assistance from the staff. Our server, a male (whose name escapes me) was extremely polite and well mannered and even recommended me what I think may have been the best Sea Bass I've ever tried. Two thumbs up Nervosa, will be back soon for more.

Huge dishes. I was not looking forward to eating in Yorville where bland food is served at astronomical prices but what a pleasant surprise this was! Great service, cute patio, and huge, hearty dishes. It has a large menu that will surely suit everyone. My friends got a steak and chicken salad, both were really big. My other friend had a pizza. And I had the seafood pasta. I had planned on taking half home but ended up finishing it in one sitting! It was so good. We shared the asiago cheese bake and olives to start and a bottle of wine. It was $50 per person including tax and tip. If you're in the area and looking for an actual meal, try Nervosa!
Amy
Great dining experience. You'll love this place, as it is very cozy with good food and great service. shared pizza with couple of friends (it was delicious, with thin crust, just the way i like it).
our server, italian guy was very knowleadgeable in terms of wine (which is something important for any italian restaurant). also very funny, with real italian accent and that also gives the restaurant authentic, italian touch.
overall, awesome evening, enjoyed food and great service here.
Heather
Great food, great location but a bit crowded on the inside
Listennow
We were there last night , the waiters were absoloutely rude, hear our story and you will never walk there: our chicken meals tasted like burned and the breads they brought us was absoloutely , when i mentioned that i wanna talk to the managers one if the servers said im the manager in a very rude way and when i told him that the bread was old he said: come in the morning then!!! And abiut the food he shook his head and said: i will think about it!!!!! They aparently didnt want the manager know about what they've done!!! The meals are all above $13 and for a $16 padta you get a meal as small as a starter !!!

What a gem. Cozy, cute, great food and great service.

Majority good food. Awful service. We were seated for almost 15 minutes before we were seen by a server, sensing the slow service we ordered our drinks AND our appetizer. They came 20 mins later for us to order our entrees, the server was going to all his other tables except us, including a table that was sat after us. Drinks were okay, nothing special, had the limoncello martini. Our entrees came 35 mins after ordering them NO appetizer yet, when we mentioned it to our server he said he forgot. No one came by to ask if the food was good, the server was again going to every table but ours. The entrees were good, the mushroom pasta and the seafood platter is what we had. The appetizer was 3 or 4 scallops on diced tasteless squash and chewy barley, not worth $16+ and it was brought after our entrees... We ask for the dessert menu, and again, it would take the server a few seconds to bring us a dessert menu, as a server I know it's easy because he was standing 10 ft away talking to the chef for quite some time. Takes 12 minutes to bring the dessert menu (by this time I was fed up so I began timing). When he brought the dessert menu I instead asked for the bill. 16 minutes later, we got the bill. I get being a busy server, I know what that's like, but an unapologetic one... That shows you frankly don't care. They charged us for the appetizer even though it was late and we didn't want it, I had to call the manager over and he comped the app. Overall it was horrible, no way should dinner take 2 hours after 8:15 pm. Don't go, it's overrated, Dimmi's is much better.

Amazing cuisine. Came here for my mom's birthday; she loved it and so did my dad. And so did I. Slow service but very personalized, the food takes a while but is well worth the wait. Incredible wine list, welcoming slightly upscale atmosphere. We were in jeans though and still nobody looked at us strangely. A bit pricey but worth it, would go again for a special occasion.
Serene Clare
While the atmosphere was great, thought the tables were squeezed together, my salad with chicken and sundried tomatoes was drenched in dressing so vinegary that what could have been lovely flavours were blotted out. One of my dining companions ordered the Caesar with dressing on the side. The dressing was not on the side and the salad was swimming it. Paid too much.

Best meal of my entire life. I randomly stumbled into this gem of a restaurant with some friends who were in the mood for Italian. We had extremely prompt service, the atmosphere was amazing and posh, and the food was mind blowing. I had the braised beef risotto and could not believe how amazing it was. Seriously, the best meal of my entire life. My friend's meals were spot on as well. Well worth the price.

Food :) .. service :(. Had dinner at trattoria nervosa a little while ago. The food was great (with the exception of dessert - the cheesecake- which i wouldn't order again... as it didnt even taste like cheesecake). Apps and entrees were delicious.
However.. from beginning to end our meal took almost three hours. We waited at least 45 minutes for our entrees. Every table that had sat down around us (after us) received their food before we did. The staff was barely apologetic about the fact that we had already been there so long.
In the end they did nothing to compensate for the excessive wait time ( almost 3 hours for dinner??) ..

they're lucky the food is good, because their serviceis not.
Maria
FANTASTIC. This place has delicious pizzza ...good friendly service and a perfect patio to spend a lazy sunny afternoon people watching ...a little wine ...great pizza and the service is never rushed or too busy ...go you'll like it!

Fabulous. Great atmosphere and delicious food. I had the Tiger shrimp spagetti which was great along with the caeser salad that was just ok. My husband had the orrecchetti with sausage and rapini....so delicious with the caprese salad which was the BEST we've ever had. I would go back just for the caprese salad. My daughter had the penne eggplant norma which was also fabulous. The antipasto plate was also one of the best. The calabrese and prosciouto, cheeses and olives were so fresh. Our server (Christian) was very attentive and didn't rush us. Definitely will go back.....loved it!
Winnie
They serve some of the best pizzas I've ever had!!
very authentic and fresh in ingredient use.
I especially love the prociutto pizza and I always ask for some fresh basil on top!!
love the little patio they have on the second floor too!! although the first floor patio gets a bit creepy as you may get approached by homeless people... ( I was approached by one, asking for my bread)
over all, a very cute restaurant serving up solid food!! I will have to try their pasta one more time to judge (I tried once, but it wasn't that great - a smoked salmon pasta, in one of their daily special I believe)
Giacomo
Trattoria nervosa is like eating in italia delicious food and a beatiful balcony view. Try the cappellini it's my favorite dish.

Great Pasta!. I went here for lunch today with my mother and cousin, I had the Paglia e Fieno alla Bolegnese, and it was very good. The pasta was spinach fettuccine which was great for the heartier sauce. The sauce itself had great flavor and wasn't too salty, and the cheese was of high quality. The ingredients in all the dishes at the table seemed very fresh, and my cousin had the pizza which I thought was pretty good. The crust was not overcooked or undercooked, but just right. My mom had a special which was pasta with shrimp and vegetables and I had some, it was very light and satisfying. The place wasn't too busy when I went, but it is a smaller place. The service was good, and the waiters are very cute!
Mike Song
Awesome risotto. I like the food and atmosphere here. The patio is nice, the waiter/waitresses seem pretty chill, it's a good experience.

I really like the risotto here, it hasn't come out perfect yet which is unfortunate (either salty or slightly overcooked) but it's still a pretty solid choice. I think everyone should try the mushroom risotto at least once, it's got great flavor to it. Hell, I'll probably end up eating it once a week.

Don't forget the tiramisu @ the end. I've got a bit of a sweet tooth and it satisfies that.
Chris Pitzer
Nice Patio. Last year my friend and I had a wonderful lunch here. Nice patio outside and fantastic dinner guests. The food and drinks were spot on. The best part had to be the patio on a great day.
Gordo
Eaten here three times - food is always good. Salad & pasta for two with a 1/2L wine = $80 plus tip. Always full - fun to sit upstairs or on patio.
Linda M
Nice atmosphere and staff, however, the food takes forever! Don't come here unless you have about 3 hours to waste waiting for a just ok pizza.

Mmmmm Mushroom Risoto. I have only tired few thngs from Nervosa.....because the mushroom risoto is soooooo good that i never want to not eat it when i go. i have tasted from other's plates and i have liked what i've tasted. they have great Italian food. amazing pasta. and from what i hear, pretty good pizza. despite the fact that it's in Yorkville, it's not filled with annoying pretentious people...the crowed is relatively normal.
Tony
Amazing Food. This restaurant is great. Food is wicked. They have this antipasti platter of amazing cured meats, things like cured pork cheeks and house cured duck proscuitto. The pasta dishes are creative and new age italian. Lamb pasta dish is rich and very well balanced. Banana and hazelnut tiramisu is addictive and they also have amazing italian cheese.
Bravo
Backbone
Only draw back. Small portions. I would need 3 entrée before being satiated. Otherwise, if you're into just wanting a sampling, and not wanting to look hungry before your date,, this place would do.
Jonh
This place rocks, for a Yorkville resto it stands out! Lets face it Yorkville is not the food mecca of Toronto....not even close, however Nervosa is going to take it there.
Best Pizza in town, terroni, libreto, gigi have nothing on these pies. They are simple yet perfect. Everytime I have had one its been spot on. Chewy, crispy and flavourful.
The limoncello soda for dessert is uber refreshing and tasty. Fun specials.Great food, Cool and laid back.
Teddy
AMAZING start to finish. Wow the last review should be deleted, its one thing to dislike a person for whatever there personal reasons, however this is really not the forum to do so! so moving forward.......I commend the Chef (Andrea) at Nervosa. I am a long time patron of what used to be Cafe Nervosa and now I can say that I am in love with Trattoria Nervosa. The food has been enhanced in all forms. Ingredients are so fresh and the specials are always so well balanced. My favorite dish is the Octopus salad, tender, sweet, salts, crunchy perfect! The lamb crespelle is also so delicious. Keep up the amazing work and ignore the haters!!!
David Gennson
I love this place- food is amazing. Fresh, innovative yet classic. Whole fish and prosciutto arugula pizza are wicked yorkville is lucky to have a real restaurant
Adrian Kamellard
This is a good place for an evening out with friends as long as you can sit on the upstairs terrace. The fungui with meatballs was rich and well prepared. The service was friendly and unrushed.
Cher
Overrated. Tiny place, and the reason they 'appear' to be so busy is because the inside of the place is dorm sized.

I wouldn't have had a problem with that if the food was worth it, but it wasn't. It was mediocre at best, unoriginal and bland. The pizza was OK but really thin and flimsy, and the octopus wasn't bad either.

We had the grilled octopus, Spinach & Gorgonzola salad (not as good as it sounds), Montanara pizza (sausage/gorgonzola), rib eye on polenta (but they put the rib eye on top of the polenta which ended up over cooking the meat), and the boneless chicken that was so dried out we had to ask for a different dish because they said "that's just how it's done"... got the capellini and it was bland.

The patio is a nice though.

Good but not original Italian. I was at Trattoria Nervosa Last nite along with my family.I am Italian and I am in Toronto to visit my relative. My family and I were really surprise to be in a Italian resturant with no ITALIAN at all.Nobody in this restaurant has an idea what italian food is.I don`t blaim the staff but the owner should be start to consider that who pick a nice Italain restaurant, aspect to be in a italain evoriment.
The food was really good but I saw thing on the menue that in Italy doesn`t even exist.Pizza was lovley even they use a conventional oven I was surprise how well the pizza came out.

Great price for Yorkville. I love this place. The food is affordable (especially for Yorkville) and delicious! The atmosphere is very busy, yet relaxed and you get decent portions.

The pastas are fantastic, and the selection of Italian soft drinks is a nice touch.

Trattoria Nervosa is tucked away in Yorkville, Toronto right across from Anthropologie. I believe the restaurant has a sister named Gusto 101 on King St. West, which is another hot restaurant popular among the local. Trattoria Nervosa is much smaller in size with tables on first and second floors for customers. It has an open kitchen and a set menu that we makes us come back for more. House bread The restaurant’s house bread is given after we order, which always takes awhile. The entire menu is available online on their website. It consists of daily specials, appetizers, salads (some have half portions, so ask your server), pastas, and pizzas. In addition, Trattoria Nervosa also sells their in-house olive oil which is amazing ! With origins in Abruzzo, it is so full of flavour and smooth, it makes me want to buy a bottle every time. I remember how much olive oil I have at home and Ken succeeds in resisting my temptation.

By far one of my favourite summer restaurants Downtown Toronto. The food here is consistently made extremely well - always tasty and leaves one wanting for more. I love their mushroom dishes, especially their mushroom bruschetta (not eaten this meal) and the Funghi e Formaggi pizza is no exception. If you are visiting Toronto during the summer, I highly recommend eating out on the patio at Cafe Nervosa as the view is beautiful and great for enjoying warm weather. It also is a great place to enjoy the Yorkville High-

Nervosa is almost a fixture of Yorkville, an unpretentious trattoria with reasonable prices. Lines on a Wednesday night show the restaurant’s mass appeal. Diners are tightly seated in open-window room that forgoes air conditioning in favour of a desultory breeze. It’s a nice vantage out to the realm of the well-to-do, a wonderland of snazzy cars, sundresses and yellow-brick homes. With such a light-hearted atmosphere, it welcomes anyone looking for a quick bite. Unfortunately, the similarly playful service became too casual to bear. Unhearing, oblivious and brash waiters talk over diners and suggest clicking the “first on

We went to Nervosa for an early dinner before exploring Nuit Blanche on Saturday evening in Toronto. We were brought upstairs to the balcony were we could overlook the street. Upon arriving at our seat, which had a great view of the heart of Yorkville, a basket of fresh bread arrived at our table.

Nervosa Trattoria is located in a old mansion that sits on the corner of Yorkville and Bellair. They provide basic casual Italian dining at a reasonable price, considering the area. In the summer they have a nice little patio on the upper level, which attracts a lot of teens grabbing dinner before going to a neighbourhood club. On this visit I was meeting up with a few friends for drinks and some snacks after work. When we arrived, it wasn't too busy, but it got quite full by the time we left. I would definitely recommend making reservations on a weekend. The TAGLIERE MISTO arrived first. A selection of three Artisanal Italian cured meats and aged cheeses. It was nice to have the meat and cheese come together without having to order two different dishes. The garnish of fresh jam and tapenade was a nice addition to the standard charcuterie

...the Capesante ($14.99) (under the Antipasti portion of the menu) - pan seared scallops on top of a light salad of grains, zucchini, and corn. I honestly loved this dish. Even now, I look at the picture and I still remember how much I enjoyed it. Maybe I just got lucky, but the scallops came out perfectly. Slightly crisp on the surface from the pan and incredibly soft on the inside. The flavours were warm but there was a little zest from the salad that kept the dish light.

This restaurant turned out to be quite the gem. The food was quite delicious and the prices were definitely affordable for Yorkville standards. We started with the Insalata di Polpo - grilled octopus on arugula salad.

:Yorkville: I was long overdue for another meet-up with the fashionable twosome. They didn't disappoint - I would post of photo of these two but that could lead to my identity…so instead, I will just say that no one else pulls of effortless Sunday chic like these two. :Yorkville: così delizioso…sì This Sunday's meet-up was in Yorkville and we settled on Trattoria Nervosa or as we simple folk say, Café Nervosa. It sits on the corner of Yorkville and Bellair and has long been a place I recommend to my bois when they ask where to take a girl on a date. It's like a less obnoxious but more expensive 7 West. I love Nervosa's upstairs patio, but it was full so we had to eat at ground level. Humf. As soon as we sat down, I'm thinking I could use a cup of coffee, but my buds are pointing out the wines. She pointed to the Pinot Grigio Nervosa & VI - I've never heard of it - but she says it's "sooo good", and you know what, she was "sooo right" - it was light, fresh and delish. Every Sunda

I discovered this gem on our trip to Toronto in November last year. Ever since we went, we’ve been visiting them every time we are in town! We were amazed at how good their food was; it was definitely authentic Italian cuisine.

Trattoria Nervosa is tucked away in Yorkville, Toronto right across from Anthropologie. With origins in Abruzzo, it is so full of flavour and smooth, it makes me want to buy a bottle every time.

Seen from other customers, the salads look very appetizing and scrumptious. We asked our server if they served them in half portions, and we were delighted to hear that they served their arugula salad (Rucola) by halves. The other salads were unfortunately not served in half portions.

Rigatoni al Pomodoro:
This rigatoni was the dish I ordered back in November. It is a basic Italian pasta with tomatoes (pomodoro). It was full of flavour and left me wanting more. In North America, I find that it is sometimes difficult to find a true tomato pasta, as many restaurants serve meat sauce (with tomatoes) than just tomato sauce. I was happy to see Trattoria Nervosa serving this and really enjoyed my dish.

Mafalde di Funghi:
This pasta uses numerous mushrooms with truffle paste and light cream, giving it a very rich texture. Our taste buds immediately light up and go into celebratory mode as we eat this pasta. We first fell in love with truffle paste back when we traveled through Italy last autumn. Ever since then, we always order pasta with truffle paste when available. This was our wish come true. Aside from the truffle paste, the portion is huge, which is always a great plus.

Agnolotti di Zucca:
I wanted to try something new, and I was pleasantly surprised with how good this dish was! What really drove home was the browned butter and the pumpkin paste. I mean, it couldn’t have tasted any better. The kick of sage pulled it all together, leaving your mouth full of so many flavours to digest. This dish definitely tops one of my favourite pasta dishes of all time, and I would for sure order it again. I am a huge fan of foods that use pumpkin, and as I have never seen pumpkin and ravioli coupled together, this was indeed a refreshing combination.

The restaurant holds private functions and also honours takeout food through the maegen app.

If you’re on the fence about the restaurant, we would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Food: 4/5
Service: 3.5/5
Cleanliness: 4/5
Price: $$$
