The steak was outstanding. Various tempura and sushi appetizers were very good, too. Service was efficient and friendly. Good place for a business dinner. Being a little different, it is more memorable than just another steak house.

I am not much into sushi/Japanese cuisine but this restaurant by far was the best. Ambience n decor is lavish and posh. Place is huge and could easily accommodate 100 people. Location is perfect as it's well connected to path. Best sushi I tried till date and house made ginger ale goes perfect with it. There speciality cucumber n Avocado one is the best and gives refreshing taste. Every dish you order looks amazing and has its own signature taste. Expensive but worth it!

Located in the midst of the hustle and bustle in the financial district, Ki Modern Japanese & Bar serves up a fresh take on the Japanese style of leisurely eating and drinking with friends. The dining rooms at Ki are divided into 3 main areas – the bar area and depending on one’s preference, guests can choose to either sit in their spacious sushi bar section where they can watch chef’s prepare their sushi up close and personal. If guests prefer a dining environment where it is a little bit more formal (suitable for business meetings), the dining area is another great option.
This post is physically difficult to write because the more we write, the more we miss the food at Ki, a modern Japanese restaurant and lounge on Bay St. Translated as "pure; undiluted; raw," Ki strives to recreate the Japanese-style experience of sharing food and drinks with friends.
Décor is high-end and sushi selection is varied and high quality. Of course, price point is higher (this is not a $9.99 sushi joint!) as you would expect in an establishment catering to business-class diners rewarding/impressing clients/colleagues/themselves on an expense account. Service is quite prompt and courteous. Wait times scan vary but allow yourself a good hour plus for a meal. Not a place where you can rush.
Modern Japanese restaurant at financial district. I love the miso chowder and seaweed salad so much. But the lobster maki was not as delicious as I expected. The price was higher than what I expected.
I have mostly been to Ki for lunch and dinner only once or twice. Nice place. Good quality food but I find it a little pricey and always seem to leave hungry. Quality of sushi is good.
Only in town for a day. Had a wonderful meal. Great service and a nice ambience, even for a Monday night. Extensive sake menu for the drinkers. A nice modern take on Japanese food.
I have eaten here quite a bit and I love it. The food is fresh, delicious and beautifully presented, service is always spot on and consistent. We went there last night for my kid's 16th birthday dinner and they were just wonderful - when we decided to skip dessert, the hostess brought over a little box with chocolates and a hand written card wishing him a happy 16th - those touches go a long way.
Yes, it's expensive and best suited for a few cocktails and some sharing plates among friends unless you want to drop a lot of cash, so keep that in mind but it's worth the splurge.
Interesting. Been here a few times, mostly for drinks. They have quite an interesting mix of drinks, although I am not crazy about their tiny Martini glasses. The food is well thought out. Don't go here if you're too hungry and on a budget. The food is mostly tapas/Isakaya style, so you'll have to get a few dishes, and it easily adds up compared to going somewhere for a main course. The dishes were a-ok, a little more interesting than a straight up Sushi place because it's "fusion". Honestly, I'd easily go there for a few drinks because it is so close to my work, but not for a planned dinner.

Unique and good!. There food is so good and made freshly. I had the tuna sandwich awesome! It's like butter. And plus were in heaven. Very nice seating. The decor is good. The only thing is that it's a small portion so I had to order 2 dishes. But I'm sorry it was really good and expensive!
Great Japanese Restaurant. My wife and I dined at Ki last November for her birthday. Everything that we tried, from the sushi to the cod fish to the sake and wine was excellent. The miso cod was very tender and flavourful. Our server was amazing! I wish I could remember his name but he honestly was one of the most knowledgable, friendly and professional servers that we have ever had. When the plum sake was not what we had expected he took it off the bill and gave us free dessert. The only downfall of Ki would be the decor and atmosphere. It is good for big groups but doesn't exactly have the romantic, intimate atmosphere for a date night. They also need to dim the lights because they were way too bright for dinner time. We will be back for the high quality food and the excellent service though.
Go for the entrees. We ordered a bunch of entrees and there were hot fresh and very well prepared. They weren't cheap, but I was getting what I paid for. The service was attentive and informative. The ambiance is fantastic. People get really upset when they pay $25 for 4 short ribs, but they were quality short ribs, cooked to perfection, and drizzled with this amazing sauce. If you are worried about spending money, you should consider learning how to cook or how to order take out.
Some of the best sushi in the city!. Very creative, superb service, great food and ambience. Definitely will have to come back when in the dt area!
Menu price is a little steep but definitely worth it. It's a good place to go if you like a modern/north American twist to sushi. Ambience and atmosphere is very nice for an intimate date.

Best Sushi in Torotno!. By far the best sushi in the city! The first time I went to Ki, it was because it was the closest sushi place to my office. That was years ago, and I have not missed a month since! My co workers and I go for lunch or dinner at least once a month. We're addicted to the crispy rice cakes with Tuna & Salmon - they are the best thing on the menu by far! I love the layout of the place and always find something new each time I visit. Last time it was the water feature around the side. The place is absolutely stunning and the sushi there is the best I've ever tasted. No other sushi tastes the same. After eating at Ki, I now have to order vegetarian sushi everywhere else I eat, because no other place can match the freshness and the amazing chefs! If you've never been, book your reservation today - you won't regret it. I've ever brought friends and co workers that don't like sushi - there are hot plates and other dishes that you can dine on with delight. One friend is lactose intolerant, so our waitress advised her what on the menu she could and couldn't eat - which was fantastic!
Possibly the best sushi in Toronto. Definitely get the rock shrimp, edamame, spicy tuna rolls and sushi pizza it's all fantastic.
Toronto's Best Sushi. If your ever in the mood for sushi and want to treat your self, Ki is the perfect place. It offers the perfect mix of casual dining and lively bar. Both are equally as enjoyable and will not disappoint. But the best part is the Sushi, everything is amazing and having been visiting Ki for years there has never been anything that I have not loved! If your not 100% sure about what you want the chef is more then willing to create you a mix of different things and is totally worth the price. If your keeping an eye on budget then make sure you tell them as the chef can sometimes throw some things (delicious) that are a bit on the pricey side.
Regardless, if your looking for amazing sushi, Ki is the best place in Toronto

Great Restaurant. I do love Ki - while I don't find their sushi the best I've had, its a great spot to go with friends. Atmosphere, drinks, food are all great. I generally do the ordering for the table, but I've found when I've gone with friends, if they ask the staff for recommendations, the servers default to the expensive items (like $120 sake??) Its a spot I go to a few times a year, and do love it. (once I got over the "putting my purse in the river" episode)

From the exterior to the interior of the restaurant, the place was beautifully designed with a peaceful atmosphere in the dining area. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure we had a pleasurable dining experience. Their menu was designed for sharing among friends and so we ordered a variety of dishes to try out. The Tomi Hoax Cocktail ($13) Bistro Shrimp with spicy wasabi-garlic cream dip ($17). The Bistro Shrimp came out hot and fresh, and had the perfect amount of batter.

The duck breast was great. Pink like it should be with crispy edges and overlaying a stew of onions and rice cakes. The meat was very soft and lean with the typical salty flavour you get from duck. I am glad I had the appetite to last to this final dish.
What I love about Ki (and many will disagree when I say this) is that the portions are small. I know, you guys are thinking, you pay so much for a little bit!! But Ki does this brilliantly, because what many people can agree with is that the smaller the portion, the more of a taste you get out of it. You get more vibrant combinations of fusions of different flavors in your taste buds that you can actually appreciate. A place like this isn't about scarfing down as much sushi as possible until you are full, it's about appreciating the presentation and flavors in a more modern setting and manner. I was not disappointed at all, but you can judge by the pictures! I will say one thing though... I was not feeling full at the end of my meal (the total bill came to around $200 with three people).
Overall, I really like Ki. I work close by so it's a great place to come after work for drinks and a little sushi snack. The service is just a little slow, which I thought was fine since it is a great place to just sit and chat.

Will I go back to Ki for food? No way. Drinks? Probably. Let me just say you would probably feel the same way if you saw the bill (thank goodness I didn't have to pay). I mean, I don't mind paying more for good food, but the food at Ki wasn't that great, and not exceptional enough to justify the price they are charging. With it's location, I guess you can't blame them. But all-in-all, a nice experience nevertheless.

This past summer, I had the chance to visit Ki Modern Japanese + Bar for dinner located in the Financial District of Toronto. Their Bistro Shrimp came out hot and fresh, and had the perfect amount of batter. Usually other Japanese restaurants coat the batter really thick making the tempura greasy, but this wasn't the case at Ki. From their Ki Signature Plates we ordered the Grilled Beef Striploin Tataki and the Tai with Truffle Oil, which was suggested by the waitress. The Tataki was slightly grilled around the edges and thinly sliced. The texture was nice and soft, almost melting in our mouths. The Tai, sea bream, was beautifully presented and tasted very fresh with the Cranberry Ponzu. These two dishes are definitely a must-have when visiting Ki. The sashimi we ordered included Hamachi yellowtail, Mutsu butterfish and Maguro bigeye tuna. Each order came out with 4 large pieces, enough for two people to share. The sashimi was delicious and definitely high quality. And from the Classic and Ki Modern Makimonos, we ordered Spicy Tuna, Lobster and Ki Beef Maki, which all tasted wonderful.
Ki is a great place if you want to try an upscale Japanese fusion restaurant for casual dining with friends or for a special occasion. Their menu is quite pricey but it's worth it for the quality of food you're getting. Overall, we had a great experience at Ki and will definitely be coming back in the future to try out other great dishes!
I Love Ki, it is a great spot to enjoy thoughs special occasions , or if your looking for a great restaurant to put on your heels and have a girls night out. The service is excellent, the presentation and food is amazing. I lt can get pricy but, its worth the cost.

I started to work downtown almost 2 years ago, and Ki was one of the first restaurants I went to.
This 2nd visit was long overdue. Being located at the corner of Bay and Wellington, it's weird that I never stepped foot into this lovely restaurant again, but am happy I did.
Here is what was ordered:
-- Shrimp + Scallops Kushiyaki brushed with mango hot sauce
-- Grilled Canadian AAA Flat Iron Steak served with a garlic ponzu sauce
-- Sweet Potato Wedges with wasabi mayo
-- Dynamite Maikimono, which is a maki roll with tempura shrimp, mayo, tobiko + cucumber
-- Saikyo-marinated Black Cod with rapini, salmon roe + orange reduction
-- Garlic fried rice
Although dishes are meant to be shared here at Ki, we each ordered our own plates. I was happy about that since my cod and garlic fried rice was absolutely delicious. I love ordering cod at restaurants as I know I would never be able to make it taste as good at home, however I've never had cod cooked in an Japanese/Asian style before (glad I tried it).

Amazing! Went on my birthday night, greeted as we walked in the door and seated immediately. It was busy however, the service was still impeccable. Huge comfortable & warm. Ambiance is stunning. The food was delicious and was high quality with just the right amount of food. It's defo expensive but we had a wonderful experience so thank you and will definitely go back!
Delicious! Great explosion of flavours in your mouth. The presentation was amazing on the your plate. Ki is definitely a special place to visit if you like something different. I feel everything from service to food was above my expectations. One last thing Staff is very attentive. A place worth visiting & I will definitely be back.
