Review Forno Cultura - Toronto

T MC
Disappointed. I've been a loyal customer since it opened. I just bought an overpriced sandwich that I've ordered a hundred times. Terrible. Nothing like how it used to be made. It was drenched in butter and mayo and who knows what else but it was inedible. The bread was slimy. Talk about ruining a great sandwich. Can I have some sandwich with my mayo next time? Went straight into the garbage. It's not acceptable. If you have the audacity to charge $15 for a sandwich it better be made properly. I honestly don't get it. How hard is it to make a sandwich? I'm over it. Symptom of a bigger problem, Toronto. Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Great selection of delicious freshly baked goods, friendly staff and reasonably priced. I was surprised that it only cost $9 for a Foccaccia that was bigger than my whole face! Compared to other places where I have had to pay $12+ for a smaller sized one

For no Cultural used to be ma favorite bakery in town and their curry brioche is incredible. But this time when I cut the bread at home I was quite surprised……

Stopping in finally after 7 months of peering thru their windows at various hours even late evenings to being guided by the green/red lights for entry and following the feet markers that led me to paradise. Lingering thou not a common thing but I had to gaze at the pastry masters behind glass kneading away, slicing and patting the doughy delights. So much to choose from but ended up with a selection of 6 pastry treats and a baget. Service was excellent, well taken care of and smiles all around. Will certainly be back in.

The service is what made me give 3 stars. The person who makes the coffee was just not accommodating at all which ruined my entire experience! Their mocha is basic nothing special. You can’t taste the coffee. Sandwich’s and food are amazing!!

Best sandwiches in town. I crave the Tuscan Chicken one often. They change what they are serving each day. Coffee is great too. Desserts make a great boxed gift. Locals adore this spot.

Was not a long line up when I went today on a Saturday afternoon at around 3pm. There were signs on the window and tape on the floor to tell you where to wait and to be physically distanced from others. There was also an electronically controlled sign that told you to GO or NO, wait. When the sign lit green in colour, you could go into the cafe. I bought two items that were “gluten free”, (celiacs beware - items were put next to regular items). Service was quick and good and the staff were helpful and kind. I have visited this location 3x including today’s visit. Glad I went back. I give this place 4 stars as it is pricey, however the quality is high calibre and fresh so it is a good place to have a treat once in a while!!

What a great place to eat, morning, noon or night. Food is always fresh and tasty. The open glass concept to watch the bakers and cooks gives this place high marks. I've been going for years and watching it's staff who are always happy, laughing and creating with great passion. They love what they do and it shows in the quality of baked goods and food they create. Amazing focaccia, bread, sandwiches, deserts, seasonal treats and the list goes on. The serving staff are always friendly and will recommend if your not sure. Everyone is great here from the top management (owners) to the rest of the staff. Can't say enough about this place. I'm a regular so if you see me say hi. Enjoy, you won't regret it....and take something home to share.

I love this place, a little Italian place in downtown, it's nice because Toronto is overcrowded of so many franchises

Best bread in Toronto. Amazing cakes, and I haven't tried everything yet. The staff are great people. And what they don't sell is donated to charity. Their food is much too good to waste!

A great taste of Italy just below the streets of King West. Worth the visit. Great service too!
Maria Milillo-Walters
They make the best authentic Italian sandwiches and the breads are fabulous!

The 24-36 hr fermented breads and loaves are made with quality ingredients including olive oil. Andrea, the young owner Originally from Puglia, Italy, explained how he controls the growth of the company to preserve quality. His breads can be found at all the Susur Lees restaurant, people's eatery on Spadina north of du Dundas, near Swatow, Valdez, and 416snackbar on their Scandinavian board (squid ink fermented bread)
Gustavo Jabbaz
Great coffee and baked treats. Great experience all around.

Forno Cultura is my favourite place in all of Toronto. Everything they make is made with love and passion and nobody works harder to make the smallest things perfect. Thank you to everyone at Forno Cultura for always coming through with stunning and perfectly prepared meals, sandwiches, cookies, pastries -- always perfect, always impressive.

After tasting the bread and cannoli, we'll be dropping in every time we are in the city. The store is a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach!

Need a pick-me-up after a long day of work? The perfect spot...! And on top of that the folks here are the best.. they seem to enjoy spoiling you with lil' treats.. Love the bread, the amaretti, the hazelnut baci & the fact that it is on my way home..
Sharon Vaz Patel
Their sfoglia cornetti is heavenly. This time I plan on trying out their amaretti cookies. Heard they are pretty incredible too.

So many delicious beautiful food options - and a lovely team of friendly staff <3

Great staff and heavenly breads. I had the veg flat bread pizza and it was out of the world. Tried the cookies and they were the best one can have. Great bread loafs too.

It was so good! Friendly staff. Very crowded tho, but not in a bad way. The sandwiches and pizzabreads were one of the best I had in my life. Bought some cookies to try at home, also very good!

Hiding in a basement beneath the notorious eating and drinking place Wurst, Forno Coutura on King West is loved for deeply fragrant coffees, crispy bread and mouthwatering pastry. The open kitchen creates an illusion of home cooking and there is something exceptionally magical in sipping a rather sharp macchiato while watching a focaccia rolled out right in front of you.

Food and coffee are great and delicious. The breads are so tasty and many options are available.

The design is weird. A very long table and narrow space. It just makes people not comfortable to sit in.

The staffs, in general, are friendly.
Always guaranteed to be delicious, this is a pheNOMenal Italian cafe. Gelato today was chocolate-lemon flavoured and was way better than I expected. Creamy texture and the biscotti was fantastic too!!
the italian name was catchy, that's why we walked in, we weren't planning to eat anything but the moment we walked in we changed our mind as everything smelled/ tasted amazing

Went there way after lunch rush hour to pick up a quick sandwich. The Tramezzini Funghi Cheese sandwich ($8.50) looked good, which they quickly grilled. Also picked up a couple of Frolle Ricotta (Turnover or a Pastry)($3 each)

The sandwich turns out also had Kale (grilled or boiled, not sure which). The Rosemary Bread was absolutely delish. The mushrooms cooked to perfection. The cheese could not figure out which, but the quantity was a bit disappointing according The my daughter who had it. The size of it reasonably big, but not overly big.

The Frolles are not seen in many places. The soft pillowy type Pastry filled gently with Ricotta and Raisins. Perfect all around, perhaps a bit of too much egg wash on top. Wish the Pastry taste had no egg wash on top.

Would come by and try some other sandwiches for sure

I love this bakery! I always recommend it to friends or visitors. The space itself is charming and thoughtfully designed. It's pricier than your average bakery/cafe but you can tell that the quality of what you're eating is superb. The staff is often friendly with minor exceptions.

You don't have to walk far to find something delicious on King West. Forno Cultura is great if you have a hankering for something Italian, whether it be baked treats, or something more savoury like pizza, panini, or other hot dishes. There are specials each day which keeps you on your toes. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable.
Warning that the prices are a bit steep but the quality is definitely there. The boast of using only the finest natural ingredients and organic flours.
I highly recommend as it's definitely worth a visit.

Went there for the chocolate tour. This is the first time I had a brownie with black olive in it! It was awesome! I feel kind of addicted to it!

Great bakery in downtown. Excellent for bread, panini, pizza slices and sweets. The slice of potato pizza was great, the cheese and salami croquette are very tasty! Try the cannoli and the almond cookies! I can't wait to go back and try the "aperitivo" (happy hour) from 5 to 7, they offer finger food and local cheese.

Would give this a better rating if the bread wasn't so over baked. Also, the sizes of the bread and ciabattas are half the size as they usually are given the price. As far as taste, I found it a gummy and burnt flavour. For a perfectly baked baguette I usually go around the corner to Colette's.

I was on my way to lunch with a friend when i stopped and checked out Forno Cultura.

It felt like I discovered an underground bakery from the Depression Era since everything looks so rustic and it can be hard to find from the street, but it was charming. I think the smells of wood burning and baked goods made me stay awhile.

When I went, they were experimenting with new gelato flavours, so I tried their ricotta gelato. It was creamy and sweet, yet savoury, almost like a good fondue. I'm not sure if they still have it, but if they do you should try it.

Would recommend.

Forno Cultura serves up the delicacies all day long, whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner, and everything in between. From the moment you approach the bakery, you'll be blown away by the amazing smells.

You can choose from a wide variety of baked goods - pastries, biscotti and cookies sold in bulk for take out or to simply enjoy sitting in as a quick snack.

A variety of full meals can also be ordered (again for take out or dining in), along with an accompaniment of wines and beers or soft drinks (more on that later).

Fully licensed, Forno Cultura also serves a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including the best quality wines from Ontario or Tuscany.

It's a place I can recommend for more than just delicious selection of food & drinks. The atmosphere and service are nice and warm as well and for sure you will come back, soon.

Sandwiches and breads galore! The ham and preserved lemon on focaccia was incredible. And the treats ... try the cute, individual olive oil chocolate cake. You won't regret it.

This place brings a smile to my face! The wide assortment of fresh baked cookies and pastries, and the friendly service wins me every time. Even on a busy day, their pistachio cookie is all I need :)

UPDATE: Went for lunch and grabbed pizza and sandwiches, all very delicious but lacking dressing so they were fairly dry. Had to add some mayo and mustard in the office to give it moisture and more flavour. Pizza was very good though, will definitely head back for more.
This place is hidden but should not be overlooked! You smell everything when you walk in and it's a fantastic smell. I love the open concept where you can see everyone behind the glass making the most beautiful pasties and bread. They have a selection of sandwiches for lunch and then so many pasties that you'll find it hard to choose just one (which is exactly what happened to Genevieve Yam and I!) Overall, the pasties were very unique and tasty and I'm looking forward to going back and trying something new:)

The paninis are my favorite!!!! Love passing here on my walks and being able to pick up an Italian bakery treat! The taralli is awesome to snack on too!

This place is the real deal, a must-see! The true test is when you try one or two of their offerings, devour those and go back to try 3 other things, inhale those and then end up buying one of everything. Their porchetta and cremini mushroom sandwiches are divine- perfect crusty bread to filling ratio, all classic Italian and bursting with flavour, so delicious! Another favourite was the focaccia bread - literally the most perfect authentic focaccia in Toronto, made right before your eyes. Their wide variety of pastries, cakes, and cookies are all great and not too sweet which makes for a perfect balance of flavours, with heavy lemon and fennel notes. This place is a rare case of authentic, quality, flavoursome, and across-the-board delicious Italian baked goods!!

Delicious hazelnut and pistachio gluten free treats! Surprised they had so many great options.

Authentic and Awesome. I dropped into this bakery on a snowy Saturday morning with my wife and 2 daughters. It was warm and inviting. The staff went out of their way to serve us well and clearly liked working there....a true testament to a well managed business. My daughter loved watching the bakers prepare their treats while we sampled the fantastic array of baked goods. Everything we tried was so good, especially the sandwiches. There were these sliced, rolled up bread treats with an almond and honey filling that was unbelievable....It was a beautiful way to start our day!! I'm looking forward to our next visit!!
