This is a lovely local favourite which consistently serves the best eggs benedict plates in Toronto. It's a cozy place on King and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. All round - a great place for brunch or lunch.

My partner and I were in overnight from Buffalo, NY where brunch is a weekend staple. We researched and chose Dejeuner and the experience left us full of food and joy! Pear ginger juice and sweet and savory plate included carmalized french toast, scrambled eggs, fried beef ravioli and apple slaw my date had belgian waffles benjamin. Complimenting our plates was the good time we had sitting right next to the service window for the kitchen. These guys were firing out amazing plate after plate, laughing having a great time (it seemed) while playing The Smiths and my personal favorite Steppin' Out by Joe Jackson. Next time we are in I will bring 5 bucks to request Level 42 Somethin' about you! Bravo! Great time had!!!

Busy for a Sunday morning as is to be expected. Arrived just before 9. Got our table just before 10...we were a party of 11... Asked our server if she cud help us out as we had to be somewhere at 1130. We had scoped out the menu beforehand and were ready to order as a soon as seated. We were promptly served, not rushed, and accounts settled before 11pm. It was perfect and I believe they hustled a bit to help us get to where we needed to go. Thx guys!

I stopped here myself for Breakfast and was treated to excellent espresso and crepes. The service was very good with reasonable prices. Great place to sit and enjoy before heading out to explore the city

Lovely breakfast place at St. Lawrence. Strong Americano and a tasty masala chai Rooibos tea.

Both our breakfast dishes were fantastic. Ham & Cheese Crepe was great with cheddar cheese and piperade adding subtle spice. Spinach Omelette with house salad was very good too. Fluffy Omelette with melted brie. Both dishes had apple coleslaw that added crunch like crisps.

Deservedly popular, this retro diner always has a queue outside it on weekends even when it is freezing. There's a great selection of breakfast and lunch - waffles and bennies are both fantastic! The vibe is relaxed and the service friendly even though the restaurant is really quite loud and hectic. A true institution for brunch in Toronto

Made it a point to come here for breakfast after seeing the lineups out the door every time I drove past this place. Must have been our lucky day. We found parking just a half a block away, and when we got to the restaurant, only waited around 30 seconds until we were seated. I say lucky because as soon as we were seated, a long line started to form outside the front entrance. By the time we finished there was still a long line outside the door.

Inside was "cozy". We sat at a tight 2-seater booth that didn't have much space for our legs (we're not huge people either). Although the place looks old and the ceiling looked like it was starting to fall apart, there was something comforting about the decor.

We had the bottomless coffee, fresh cucumber mint lemonade, Eggplant Parmesan Benny (really tasty!!) and the waffles Benny with back bacon. Their waffles were so good! Crispy, light and delicious. Can't wait to go back and ordered their waffles again!

The only downside was the waiting for the food. The place was packed so I understand if the kitchen was slammed with orders. Not sure if the kitchen management can implement any further efficiencies. If it wasn't for the waiting for the food I'd bump up my rating by half-point.

Nonetheless, I loved the food and would absolutely go back!

My friend and I stumbled upon this gem when going out for breakfast. I remembered seeing it a few days before and was super intrigued to go in and give it a try. When we got in we were immediately seated (given it was 10am on a Tuesday) and given our beverages. I decided to give their Western omelet a try and my friend went for the eggs Benedict with bacon (obviously). Our food only took maybe 15-20 minutes to arrive and it was phenomenal. They served both dishes with a side of apple slaw and a mini rosti which were both to DIE for. The omelet was perfectly cooked and the ham seasoned to my liking. My friend says they had the best hollandaise sauce she's ever had making their eggs Benedict the best she's ever had. Definitely coming back here again!

One of the best waffles I've had at a restaurant! Be cautious that there is usually a line up outside! The place is small, and the wait can be anywhere from 20 minutes (for groups of 2-3) to 45minutes to an hour wait. Well worth the wait! The Waffles Benny comes with apple coleslaw, waffles, and an egg benedict with hollandaise sauce on your choice of salmon or bacon or (another thing I forgot). So so so delicious and so filling! Tip: call ahead before you go and ask how long the wait will be, so you can try to go when the wait is a bit shorter.

I went here with 2 of my girlfriends on a Saturday afternoon, and they already had a lineup outside on the streets. Since there wasn't anything tempting close by, we decided to wait in line in the cold until a table opened up. It was about a 45 minute wait for a table of 3 and we did see them seat larger tables of 5 while we waited - I know they are trying to be smart about seating, but it's just disappointing to watch tons of people get ahead of you, when you've already been waiting a while and are seriously hangry.

I like the ambiance and the music of th@e place, with its retro diner feel. We finally got seated at the bar, which in retrospect wasn't the worst of things because the bartender and wait staff were pretty friendly.

I ordered the fresh fruit Belgian waffles and it was incredible - so light and airy. Hands down the best waffles I've had in my life!! It came with the Chantilly cream which was really yummy with it. I got the sausage terrine with it, which was ok but not amazing. The potato rosti and the waffles were both exceptionally done well. I clearly need to make a visit back!

I’d been craving brunch at Le Petit Déjeuner since I heard about their famous Belgian out-of-this-world-amazing waffles and I wasn’t going to let a little foot injury stop me. Part-diner, part-bistro, this iconic restaurant has been serving  up plates of self-described Belgian-Canadian comfort food seven days a week for the past ten years. There is always a line, always. Last Saturday, I dragged Adam out of bed early with the hopes of having a short wait, and as luck would have it, we got a table right away.

Very cool little place. The waiter that served me was extremely friendly and attentive. Ordered the Waffle Benedict. It didn't disappoint -- the waffle had a very lovely taste and the pea meal bacon fell apart under my fork. Overall, though, not a lot of food for the price. I think you're paying for the taste here, but lots of brunch places offer both quality and quantity so I'm not sure that really cuts it. Ordered the hash browns ("rosti") on the side and it was pretty chincy for the price as well. Overall, though, a very positive experience.

Came here for an extremely late brunch and even though they were almost closed the staff welcomed us and took our order without rushing us! Much appreciated. We had the Benjamin Waffles which is pretty much heavenly. The waffles are equal parts fluffy and tasty. Not too sweet not too savoury. This was served with maple syrup, smoked salmon, one egg benny and a bed of some kinda fruity stuff that I was too full to eat. I'll
definitely be back to try those waffles again with different sides.

We ordered the Waffle Benny and Waffle Benjamin. Benny's had bacon, while the Benjamin had smoked salmon - absolutely divine. It also came with a salad, which was refreshing against everything else we had on our plate. The waffles were really light and tasted perfect with the icing and syrup. The portions were great - I did not feel really full after, but was content and had enough space in my stomach to go visit a cute coffee shop on the east end - which sounds perfect in my books!

Arrived around 10am this morning after seeing the positive reviews on Urbanspoon. Had to wait 10 mins outside and then another 10 mins in the vestibule before we were seated. Friendly and quick service. The green glitter vinyl seats were an interesting surprise :) I had the Brussels Melody and it was delicious. The waffle was light and flaky and the strip bacon was thick and wonderfully cooked. My partner has the Eggs Benjamin. I had a taste it was fantastic - the salmon was so smoky and the hollaindaise was quite lemony. Will definitely return again!

You had me at Benny. After a slow start, needing to return my coffee because of floaties and taste the eggs benedict arrived. Are you ready? Forget the coffee experience the breakfast of champions blew my mind plus took my breath away. I have travelled the world searching for the best benny and it is right here in my own backyard. My recommendation bring your own brew and leave the benny up to this fine establishment.

Amazing brunch. I had the Eggs Florentine and a mimosa, my friends had the Egg Benjamin and the Hungry Gal (fish cakes) with orange juice. We all loved our meals, from the portion to the taste. Loved loved loved the finely shredded potato rosti and apple coleslaw. The eggs were perfectly poached and the English muffins were buttered just right.

Be prepared to wait some time to get your table, and make sure all members of the party are there.

After a painful two years of putting off going to PD simply because I didn't want to wait in line for two hours... I finally sucked it up and decided to go broke or go home. Turns out that on this particular Sunday the lineup was only about 25 minutes. So far, so good... I knew right away what I was going in for- the waffles Benny. I love waffles, but I also feel that it is my civic duty to try some sort of eggs Benedict at every brunch spot I go ( you see I am in search for the perfect Benny... Still haven't found it). My dish was really good... The waffles were light as air and so incredibly crisp and my egg was cooked to perfection, made even better sandwiched between a delicious lemony hollandaise and crispy peameal. My dates' dish (a 3 cheese omelette) was full of flavour and super cheesy - and definitely cooked right ( I hate when omelettes are dry or rubbery). I will be returning to try the apple pancakes, the eggy bread or the croque monsier.

Mixed review. Went there for breakfast this morning. Service was very slow at first. Took a good 10 minutes just to get the menus and the place wasn't even full yet since it was still before 10. I had the Hungry Gal breakfast. Scrambled eggs were very good. Potato rostis were good. But the fish cakes were so-so and I was feeling them even a couple of hours after we ate. My wife had the waffles. There always good.

Duck confit as breakfast ?. A rillette, something other may think of as ... leftovers ... (Garrick Ngai) is made by cooking whole ducks with organic pork cooked for and sterilzed over 12 hours. Then carefully pulled apart, seasoned and pressed in a tureen mould. Easy right?
Now think again before you write that I serve leftovers, which I don't

Now THAT was a breakfast!. My wife and I visited Toronto this past weekend, and based on some internet research we decided to try Le Petite Dejeuner for breakfast. All I can say is that it was one of the BEST breakfast experiences we have ever had!

First of all, the woman who was our server was extremely pleasant, and when she found out it was our first time at this restaurant she filled us in on the best dishes, and boy was she right!

We had the french toast, which was unreal! The bread is baked fresh, and we were told that they have no toasters in the restaurant, everything is toasted on a grill, which added to the experience. And the syrup was unbelievable as well, true maple syrup, not some store bought bottle.

We also ordered an eggs benny, which was reeeeeally good. And for both dishes, the presentation was exceptional.

This meal was one of the highlights of the trip, and I would recommend Le Petite Dejeuner (especially the home-made French toast!) to anyone looking for a great breakfast!

The menu has a lot of choices even a section dedicated to Benny and Friends, but I knew I couldn’t pass up the special of the day – Eggs Benny with Boneless Baby Back Ribs. And just like that me and my tummy made a new friend. The ribs were tender and smothered in sauce. I hope that the restaurant makes this a regular benny. It was that good.

Petit Dejeuner serves up Belgian-Canadian comfort food with their fabulous light and fluffy waffles. I got the Breakfast Crepes , $12, filled with three cheeses, peameal bacon, two scrambled eggs and potatoes. It wasn't a very visually appealing filling but it was scrumptious. Almost all the meals are served with a side of their famous apple slaw, sweet and tangy, topped with their house creamy dressing and pickles.

If you are in the east end of the city, around brunch time, this adorable little bistro is the place to eat. Authentic Belgian Waffles are so light and crisp sometimes I only sprinkle a little icing sugar; sometimes I indulge with fresh fruit and Chantilly cream. Western omelets topped with caramelized onions, sauteed ham and bell red peppers are so marvelous together - the egg is cooked just right.

When a good friend calls you up on a lazy weekend and suggests a brunch, how can you say no? I immediately googled for places that have the best Egg Benedict in Toronto (yep, I ignore the fact that Hollandaise sauce adds inches to my bulging waist :p) . No matter which review site I go to, this place seem to always be propping up in the site's "Best" list. I just have to drop by and see. So Sunday morning comes and I picked up my friend and we strolled from his condo to the restaurant. As we were walking by Yonge St, I realize that this trip might not see fruition. Going for brunch on Mother's Day might be a bit challenging. I look at every breakfast/lunch joint we pass by and it's bustling with big groups of people, either sitting enjoying breakfast and a good conversation or waiting in line to have their turn. We arrive at Le Petit Dejeuner (191 King Street East Toronto ON M5A1J5) and we were greeted with a crowd of people outside the restaurant. As I asked Jojo whether we should go

Le Petit Dejeuner is quickly becoming one of my new favourite brunch spots. Not only is the food great, but it's also right in my neighbourhood so I can literally stumble to this place first thing in the morning. And if you want to get a seat here quickly that's exactly when you'll have to arrive, first thing when they open! There's always a line up out the front door. It moves fairly quickly but if you don't have the patience to wait this is not the spot for you. If you are in the mood for waiting, however, you must try the waffles! They're light, fluffy, and have just the perfect amount of crunch to them.

Service here is mixed. Some of the staff are super friendly and helpful, while others can be short and unfriendly. I'd even say borderline rude at times. I get that it's a busy spot, but that's when having great staff matters most. I keep coming back because the food is good and I like the cozy atmosphere. As long as I have coffee and the paper I'm happy.

If you're looking for a new brunch spot or really love waffles I'd recommend you try this place!

When Rachel invited me out to the Sunday Antique Market, I immediately followed that up with an invite to Sunday brunch just around the corner at Le Petit Dejeuner. One of my favourite brunch spots in the city, it’s a small and cozy establishment that focuses on providing Belgian Canadian comfort food.

There’s usually a line outside, but on this Sunday were lucky and we managed to snag a two seater just in front of their bar.

he menu has a lot of choices even a section dedicated to Benny and Friends, but I knew I couldn’t pass up the special of the day – Eggs Benny with Boneless Baby Back Ribs.

And just like that me and my tummy made a new friend. The ribs were tender and smothered in sauce. I hope that the restaurant makes this a regular benny. It was that good.

Rachel decided the day called for sweet and went with their authentic belgian waffles with strawberries.

Now I don’t know what makes a waffle authentically belgian (is it the deep pockets? does a belgian person have to make them?) All I know is that this was delicious and had everything you would need on a waffle – fresh strawberries and lots and lots of whipped cream.

Dear Petit Dejeuner,

Thank you for always taking care of us.
Can’t wait to darken your door again!

Here’s to more tender ribs, delicious waffles,
and lots and lots whipped cream.

Yours,
Brunchosaurus

ps. Don’t worry! We didn’t forget the bacon!
