Review Pearl Diver - Toronto

Adam Heiss
Still my favourite oyster bar in Toronto. It's managed to maintain its level of quality fresh food with an authentic, unpretentious atmosphere. Very decent prices compared to its overinflated counterparts across the city. Pearl Diver is the best place for a low key cozy hangout with friends over fresh seafood and bubbly!

So so so good! We ordered lobsters and veggies - both buttery and tasty. Service was very quick and friendly. Atmosphere was so lively and a nice view of the street from the front section of the restaurant. Can't wait to come back for oysters!

Fantastic food. Excellent service and charming ambiance. The 100 Oysters for $100 on thursdays is not just a great deal but the freshness of the oysters ensures you know the experience is memorable. Oysters were delicious with my favourite toppings being the in-house cocktail sauce, the freshly prepared horseradish with lemon or simple tobasco. The calamari was crunchy, spicy and definitely tasty. Would highly recommend. The veggie dumplings were well prepared and texture was on point but from a flavour perspective it did not wow. Definitely going to be back here sooner than later.

Great spot, on the casual side. Came for the oysters 🦪 but really liked the mackerel dish with pickled cucumbers and mushrooms in the side. Very happy they have kimchi fried rice and it’s done right! Not much Korean food in the area. Service is very friendly and efficient. Will be back for the seafood tower…and kimchi fried rice!

Nice rustic cafe with little space but lots of charm. The grilled sea beam was my favorite. Perfectly seasoned. The staff is very helpful. Everything cooked to order but doesn’t take a long time. Loves it.

Make sure to come on a Thursday to get 100 oysters for $100! Also enjoyed the calamari appetizer and fish & chips. Will be back!

Wow. Amazing seafood. Perfect combination of great food, reasonable prices, large portions and friendly service. The 100 oysters for $100 on Thursdays was fantastic.

I ordered for 120$ steak medium rare with fries Some oysters and 2 ceasar salads. When i went to eat there it was delicious to my memory. The salad was blend. I was like why......i wouldnt order a salad on delivery if I didn't think it was a good one. The steak? A hot mess!!! They cut the meat on the grain instead of against the grain!!! Result to not beein able to chow my meat ! Even cut it......i had to go to a restaurant after that cost me an extra 200 to go eat a real meal! The fries?? They were dry and hard. So its clear to me they were cooked beforz dried out refried n send to me. Not even hot. Just hard n i couldn't eat 1. I swear.......not at all my on place experience. I will never order from there again. And they dont even put there best item on deliver menu which is the scallops n pork belly. That could of saved the day. Im kinda mad...... déception is more accurate. 1 photo is the bag 2 is the mini salad they sent....blend 3 dry n hard fries. I like them small n crispy freshly fried. I cant believe they sent me this. 4 the meat is cut wrong way!!!! Rookie mistakes. Unforgettable cause I had to throw it out really couldn't cut to it or chow. Very bad the cooking temps was right and thats all. The chimichrri looked old n blend 5 the steak up close u can see they cut it wrong way......can't make it up. 6 the meal looked good to start with..... 7 last pic is the meat i went to pay at a other restaurant to replace my bad dinner. And here u can see they cut the meat the right way it was soo tender (at Marked on John st) I don't know what to say about this delivery 1/5 for sure......

Visited on 12Aug2017, group of 11 adults. Arrived 5:30pm. Restaurant environment was great, we were at the back room with another table. Our server was great but not very attentive. We ordered a total of 17 dozens of raw oyster and approximately 12 oysters are bad (taste bad, we think those are dead oysters). We then order lots of apps and many main dishes to share. Everything taste wonderful especially the fish and chips, highly recommended. Unfortunately the mussels came smell and taste bad (dead mussels). One small incident that was when a server placing a dish on our table, a small bow on the dish fall on my friend's back and my friend is wet. They did apologize but in my opinion they should offer a little more to my friend, such as a free drink but they didn't. Overall experience is still positive but the chefs and cook staff needs improvement on the dead seafood.

I was traveling in town for business, I fell on this gem. I am a fussy eater at best, I haven’t had decent seared scallops in years (my family lived in the maritimes). These were so good, I went 2 times during my stay, I enjoyed watching the staff at the bar platting beautiful towers of sea food with meticulous precision. I was well taken care of on both visits and will make a point of eating there each time I head to Toronto!

We were a group of 6 looking for seafood on a Sunday and found everything we were looking for at Pearl Diver. We called only about 25 minutes before we arrived and they held a table for us in their back private room, where there was a collections of records that we could play and dance to, which we did. Our servers made us feel so welcome, like we were in someone's home, even though they may have had to stay later than they had expected on a Sunday (we definitely closed the place). We all did a shot with the manager, Greg, and the staff, which he made specially for us on the house. We ordered basically every seafood item on the menu and it was all fantastic. The team took amazing care of us, we ate like kings and queens and we all had such a great time. Thank you to the staff for such an awesome Sunday night! We'll definitely return and recommend to anyone! Keep up the amazing vibes.

My best friend took me here for my birthday, knowing my love of seafood. I was not at all disappointed. We ordered a tower to share between the two of us. Due to an allergy, we asked if the muscles could be substituted with something else. They offered to give us more of the tuna, without a problem, which turned out to be for the best because the tuna was the best I have ever had. The tower came with three different types of oysters that gave me, a oyster noob, a chance to try different varieties. There was also massive shrimp, perfectly seasoned and half a crab, which made my eyes roll back into my head, it was that good. The wait staff were wonderful, checking in on any table, even if it wasn't their own. We never had to wait long to speak with someone if we needed to. The restaurant itself was wonderfully intimate without being crowded. I will so be returning in the future. The problem will be not going out there every Tuesday for the Circus Tower.

A group of us are visiting Toronto for my daughter's best friends birthday from various cities across the United States. We all purchased a CityPass and are throughly enjoying the sites. After visiting Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, we decided (albeit rather morbidly) to have seafood for lunch. I am a beta tester on Foursquare and my recommendations have never failed me until yesterday that is. I found many places but after reading several reviews and checking out the menu and times of service, we walked the half an hour to the restaurant. It was not excessively hot, but after the long walk, the thought of food was pushed back only by the longing for a cold glass of water. Imagine our surprise to discover the restaurant was dark and the door was locked. We checked the menu on the door, and sure enough, it was supposed to be open. There were workers inside who ignored our presence at the door. We knocked a couple of times and after several minutes, a female employee seemed to reluctantly come to the door. After my companion inquired about the restaurant being closed, she said they didn't open until 5. My companion then pointed out the menu and the woman just turned her back on us and walked away. We stood around for a while not understanding what was going on. My daughter knocked again because she wanted to ask for water and the woman seemed to be in agreement with providing her some, but she never returned with a drink. We stood around for a few more minutes trying to determine our next moves and decided to walk to Starbucks for drinks and go to Eaton Centre to eat and shop. I honestly do not know of any reason to give this place a better rating. The employees were very rude and made us feel a kind of way about why we were not at least given a chance to explain our situation. The website and Foursquare both had them open at the time we were there which was well after noon, when they are supposed to be serving lunch. Maybe the food is outstanding, I don't know and probably never will.

Absolutely everything is delicious and the service is impeccable. The Grilled sardines with a Moroccan citrus salad, the fish plate with pickled mackerel, smoked sturgeon and salmon gravlax and the wild mushroom salad are stunningly delicious. We also had the special of the day which was perfectly grilled scallops with crumbled bacon atop melon, apple and watermelon salad...never thought to pair scallops with melon but this was delicious. Oh ya, and don't forget the oysters...simply perfect. Pearl Diver may be a little pricey, but considering your getting some of the best seafood in the city it's worth every penny! Can't wait to go back.

One of the best restaurants in Toronto! From the most amazing burgers to their oysters to their home made crazy hot sauce and to top it off.. The best service! And this all comes from a huge foodie.

I've been here a couple times in the pst with no issues so obviously when a few friends asked for oysters in the area, I was quick to recommend this spot! Well I am in redemption stage with all 7 of that party as we were ALL ill after that night. Symptoms- all the same and all seem to point to possibly tainted oysters...? I never write poor reviews (hostess at the front of the house was great; our server- amazing guy!). Again - my 3rd time here within a year and my first 2 experiences were awesome..possibly this time was a not-so-great batch...?

The service was incredible and the food was even better I highly recommend this place to everybody. You can sense that this is a very friendly atmosphere and the moon is so good you just want to come back again and again congratulations to the owners!!!

Always one of my top favorite! Amazing food a the best service always.

I expected to eat steamed or baked oyster but our server told us they didn't have that in dinner menu when I asked her. And grilled shrimp was too bitter because too much burnt. Scallops was good.
Annie Yen
It was terrible experience. We waited over 50 minutes, and the server did not attend to us once. We had to flag someone over. Not to mention, we got ignored multiple times. Still waiting...

Amazing food and fantastic dining experience. The staff and atmosphere add so much to the delicious meal. This was my first time trying oysters, and while they are not a new favourite (but were tasty), the other meals are definitely ones that will be ordered again. The chowder and calamari were especially delicious.
