We were at Stelvio last night. For an italian like me who love original italian kitchen it has been one of the greatest experience in Toronto. As you enter the place you are welcomed by a nice vibe. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starters. I had the 'Selection of cured meats: Prosciutto Crudo, Coppa, Guanciale, Bresaola' they were exquisite. The main course consisted of an authentic saffron risotto (Milanese recipe) with braised veal shanks which really thrilled us. It all was followed by a delicious Polenta toast with cheese,
king oyster mushrooms, escarola served
with polenta fries and at the end by a really good apple pie served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a fresh mixed sliced fruit for dessert. What else could I say. Let's go trying their kitchen again asap.
Amazing authentic Northern Italian food, human, professional staff. A must in Toronto! The cheese and prosciutto plate as well as the Ragu Pasta are just exceptional. Simple decor, great atmosphere, great imported wine...The kind of place you want to be a regular!
First of all finding a northern Italian cuisine restaurant in Toronto is very hard to come by. Thank God my niece tagged me in a photo some time ago on Instagram of a polenta burger and that was all it took for me to start following them on Instagram and the more pics I saw I realized that I wld make it my mission to get here for dinner. Well last night was the night and Stelvio did not disappoint! if anything it went beyond what my tastebuds cld imagine!
They brought out bread olives and olive oil, that right there is the beginning of a beautiful relationship! Lol
My sister and I shared the bresaola with Parmesan cheese and polenta fries salad! Bresaola reminds me very much of prosciutto but if possible better! The polenta fries were not greasy or overly done they were perfect! My friend wanted just a simple salad which was not offered on the menu but they were good enuf to prepare it for her.
My main course was risotto milanese with a huge piece of ossobuco that was falling apart from the bone, a knife was not needed and it melted in my mouth, the risotto was just an added incredible extra!
My friend had their notorious polenta burger, she was hesitant to order it because she is not a fan of pork but she said it was incredible and didn't even taste like pork.
Everything about this restaurant was amazing from the atmosphere to the food, of course and most importantly the service! Our server Rodrigo, straight from northern Italy was just awesome! He informed us that the cheeses and flour, like most of their products that they use in their restaurant is imported from Italy. Overall it was beyond the experience that I thought I wld have! Definitely going back and taking my other friends and family!
Just a side note if u want to make reservations your best bet is to email them from their website.
I grew up in the northeast US and have been to Italy on multiple occasions. Needless to say I have tasted some pretty amazing Italian food. This place was amazing. Truly spectacular. Food, drink and service were top notch. I wish I could frequent this place but unfortunately live too far away.
Amazing service!! Our server, Edo , was so personable, knowledgeable and a delight! The food was fantastic. I can't wait to return
One of the best Italian restaurants in Toronto. If you like Northern Italian cuisine you have to check this place out.
Truly authentic Italian restaurant. Strong attention to stick to not only original recipes but to original ingredients too. That makes the difference from others italian style restaurant. Not expensive considering the overall quality.
A must in Toronto!
Finally an authentic northern italian restaurant in Toronto!
Being an Italian food snob, this is one of the few Italian places I will ever eat Italian in Toronto, nothing more!
Staff molto gentile e preparato! Mangiare da Stelvio vi farà sentire a casa, un vero angolo d'Italia a Toronto!
A little noisy but well worth the trip there. Food and service numero uno
Went tonight with one of my bffs for the first time and it was amazing! Delicious food, great service and awesome atmosphere! :):)

The best italian food ever!! You cant find food like this in Toronto
You want to feel an Italian Alp experience? Go to Stelvio!!! I toke my Family out for dinner to impress them with new Italian food. It is not easy to take an Italian family out for dinner to taste something new that they never had before... I know it is hard when you think of Italian and need to take an Italian family out for
dinner. Many Italian Restaurants in the city offer the same old things. Stelvio is all about new taste , fresh ingredients from Italy , great wine, friendly service and the manager Rodrigo was a champ!!! I will go again and when I feel like eating something different and exiting I know to go to lo Stelvio .... if you are Italian or not you will love this place.
Stelvio had great and authentic Italian food! The pork cutlet was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside! My favourite dish was the gnocchi, absolutely delicious! The sauce was creamy, and the pasta was soft and flavourful. And for dessert, the tiramisu was perfection and the apple crisp was a delight.
Overall good experience at Stelvio. The wine menu is exquisite, we had two different wines by the glass and they were both extremely good tasting. They have only Italian wines, as expected. Our server really did a great job with her wine suggestions. The food is good, the carpaccio was good but it’s a different kind because it is cured meat as opposed to raw meat. It was good but a bit dry. Our mains were pretty good tasting but we did feel like they needed an extra component like a salad or something moist because both the orecchia and the risotto were super dry foods and it was difficult to gulp. The tiramisu was really great, not the usual biscuit soaked in coffee and some tasteless cream. This tiramisu was delicate and very good tasting. Dining at Stelvio for two people, you’re looking at an average ticket for at least $200, without a bottle of wine.
The food was brilliant. I went there specifically to have the Orecchia D'Elefante and I was not disappointed. I’d definitely have it again. But there are other dishes on the menu that I want to try so I guess I’ll be going back more than once.
The wait staff were incredibly charming. Attentive without being overbearing.
Stelvio specializes in Nothern Italian cuisine, with all their pastas made in-house.
We had a wonderful experience with our server, Anna who was very polite and explained the menu in detail.
Recommend their ossobuco with saffron risotto!
I loved the restaurant interior and we had a wonderful round table for 6 of us (big fan of round tables versus long tables for socializing). The menu was extensive with lots of hearty, indulgent meals that are primarily from the northern regions of Italy. Definitely recommend the elephant ear..... very tasty and great for sharing! Between us we had gnocchi, buckwheat pasta, ravioli..... some portions looked small but were very indulgent and despite some funky ingredient combos they were tasty. My only complaint was their menu was not up to date. I shared a charcuterie style starter (Misto) for $25 that should have had a selection of cured meats, cheese and pickled veg. There was only 4 pieces (2 varieties of the cured meat) and 4 blocks of 1 cheese. No veggies or other sides. The staff advised they don't offer the pickled veg in the meal anymore yet didn't bring anything instead. My poor veggie friend just had a block of plain cheese for her starter. If only the menu had been up to date or if staff recognized we did not receive what we expected I would give full marks 😊
Absolutely delicious food, the housemade gnocchi was amazing, and the apple cake was the perfect dessert. Great ambience and service made for a lovely evening out!!
