Review Madhouse - Thunder Bay

Live music!! Amazing outdoor area! We were lucky to get a seat as they were completely booked up on this Saturday night! We had a quick drink and later that night ordered off skip the dishes didn’t love their selection on skip the dishes compared to their in house menu. We ordered these pizones or calzones they were okay! But they did have a vegan option so that was really nice! Wish we could’ve stayed for an in house menu item - recommend making a reservation ahead of time!

Friendly service, nice atmosphere. The food was yummy and hot. Killer portions (come with an empty stomach if you want to finish the panzo). They have a patio as well

My sister-in-law recommended this Thunder Bay gem and I am so glad she did! Incredible service, food and atmosphere! GET THE MOZZARELLA STICKS! They were the biggest (each piece was at least two fingers thick), best mozzarella sticks I’ve ever had in my life! The servers and hosts are such lovely, kind and accommodating people and very quick too!! My husband and I were very happy with our date night here! Delicious, fresh food with tons of flavour and love that they bring so many dipping sauces for you too without asking! Who doesn’t love dipping sauce options?! We will definitely return to this fantastic spot when we visit Thunder Bay again! Also, just a few steps down the block from this restaurant is a great gelato place (Primo Gelato I think it’s called) so the location is ideal for date nights!!

Loves the mango chipotle dip for pickle chips! && the size of the panzorati is craZ. Had there holiday drink 'drunkin pumpkin' can really taste the coffee and pumpkin spice😬 but overall it was amazing.

I went there the other night, and it was more like an experience then a dinner. Sort of funny because I was able to bring the entire room into laughter the wait staff told me that I was the best customer they had in a year. I didn't even know that I was a comedian but I appreciate the great service and awesome food. I cannot downplay how great this place is and would not bother going down the street for second rate service

Looked good at first but things quickly went downhill. Made a reservation for 5pm they said they had one table available on the patio (a two seater which a third chair would have to be added for our group which we agreed to) Upon arriving most of the patio were free and remained free enough for our entire stay, meaning they easily could have given us a 4 seat table. Plus the table we were given wasn’t even close to level, drinks were literally sliding towards the edge of the table if you weren’t careful. The server seemed very new and didn’t have a good grasp of the menu, which is fine, everyone needs time to learn but it does still impact the experience even if they are polite. We had to ask a few times to get a straw which was only provided after another staff member came by our table. My food was pretty meh. I had the Saturday special - wings and nachos for $25. The wing looked great and a good size too but it only took one bite to figure out they were overcooked and dry. The nachos felt stingy as far as the toppings went, probably only 1/3 of the chips had toppings on them. Another order at our table came with green onions even though we asked for no onions. If things would have ended there I would have left a 3 star review but they didn’t. Later this evening I went to snack on some of the left over nachos I took home and discovered a long dark hair baked right into the crunchy cheese of one chip. Accidents happen, but after all the mishaps of the dining experience I’m going with a general lack of care and professionalism that led me being served unsanitary food. I won’t be returning or recommending this establishment.

Was very impressed with the Foundry! I was on a work trip and my co workers and I were told to eat here. Best homemade chicken fingers I’ve ever had! Also very impressed with how much detail and care they put into their food and drink - the attention to detail is well noted :)

Really enjoyed our quick drink at The Foundry. We were recommended to check it out by the team at Tomlin while we were waiting for a table to open up there. We sat right up at the bar and had some chats with the male bartender. He was super knowledgeable about the product and very down to earth. The venue itself seems like it could be a lively place. Very swanky Victorian pub vibe. The male bartender made us a mean ceaser made with Beet juice.. (I normally hate beets). He also made me a tasty whiskey sour! Keep up the good work!

The atmosphere was good and the wrap that I had was pretty good! Good place to go with friends but it’s also a pretty busy place so I would go early

I really enjoy the Madhouse. They have great food, and a good variety of beer on tap, and the atmosphere is awesome. I love the salads and their burgers are amazing! However, the service is just ok. I've never been particularly wowed by it, especially on Fridays. The staff are friendly, it just takes a while to get a drink because of the sea of people who flock there after a long work week, but this is my only complaint.  If you're ok waiting a bit for your food and drinks, then visit the Madhouse. I always have a great time here, I always see someone I haven't seen in years or meet somebody new and I always leave there happy!

Realy bad food!!. Whent there and service was very slow even wasn't many people in and food was whit out taste and over price big time!! Insiders house look it's from 18 century old smelly and dirty!!

This is a great place. Have been here many times and have never been disappointed with my meal. Friendly staff.

Madhouse is a great place to meet up with friends and grab a pint and a bite. I come here often as the prices are fair and the food and service is consistently good. The atmosphere in this restaurant is also noteworthy - the paintings on the wall are awesome. Classic hangout for both young and old. Cheers!

Reliable good food. We eat here often. It is our go-to place when we want good value for our dollar. The steak & goat cheese salad is awesome. The citrus salmon is great. The scallops and pancetta with some French Onion potato skins make for an amazing appie with drinks. And the staff is outstanding!

Friday Night Out. A group of friends and myself went here after work for drinks and ended up staying for dinner. Must say, for a bar, the food was fantastic, the steak and goat cheese salad amazing. The appetizers were all great... great staff too! Prices were very reasonable!! Will definitely go back!

User reviews. Favorite place in the city. Great food, great staff, great prices. Menu changes with the seasons and the portions are very filling. Always very clean place and never have to wait too long for a table. Good for lunch, dinner, or a late night out.

Its Good. Great food and lovely service! I go here often and the food has always been amazing! The fish tacos are soo good! Last time though our server charged us for extra salsa and my side of clamato with my beer which I thought was a little chincy since I have done that before and never been charged.

Burger was delicious and staff were friendly and prompt. Will go back for sure!

Mediocre. Regular pub grub.<br/>Nothing special, not too bad.<br/>If you want a good burger, just go over a few streets to the Sovereign Room. Seriously.<br/><br/>I'd come back to try something else.

Great place. Love the place for its prices, atmosphere, and food, not to mention a great bar menu (including hard-to-find beers!)<br/>The staff is helpful and able to recommend different drinks or beer, an give excellent service, have never been disappointed in all the times we've been here. <br/>Definitely a great place to come and hang out.

Visited the madhouse last time I was in thunder bay ,, service was exellent ,, put me in mind of a traditional pub in glasgow loved the guinness ,, atmosphere ,, and friendly happy faces all around .. first place I will head for when I go back ,, funtime frankie ,, P.S. hi dee xxx

This is my first review here. Once again had a wonderful dinner. I chose the recommened chicken ricotta mushroom breast. It was honestly so good! Two nice size chicken breasts on the bone. Unlike another place i was at mothers day.. They are keeping up high quality. Yet in an unpretentious style. Good for them.<br/>Murray Munro

Love it. I live nearby and my friends and I are regulars here. Good beer, good food, awesome service and reasonable prices. A great relaxed atmosphere with a really diverse crowd. I'm moving away in a few weeks and of all the things in Thunder Bay I will miss the Madhouse most of all. <br/><br/>The best eats are the Belgian fries, steak and goat cheese salad, greek salad and the steak sandwich. Mmmm!

Unique and Tasty. Always a really great stand by with a nice unique spin to their food, definitely worth a visit.

Loved it!!. Nice cold beer, loved the decor, food was great, bartender was super friendly and me and my wife had a great time. I will go back again and again, wish they had one in Fort William....

Awsome awsome awsome. I wish i didnt move away from this place. I come here for any thing and everything. Every time im home i stop in. Extremely affordable for beyond yummy 'exoctic' pub food. Nachos are just $9 and are just as good as any pub same size portioning. The seafood sautee is one of my favs as are the cashews rice paper wraps. I love everything on there menu and although their steak salad isnt my fav steak salad ive ever had, its the 2nd for sure. Great understated atmosphere and quite a diverse crowd. Busy all the time so you gotta go and pray for a table. Super chill, super awsome, wow do i miss this place.
