Review Nino D'aversa Bakery - Thornhill

The zeppole's and almond flour based cookies were good. Not that sweet, good texture, not too chewy, just right. The Gelato selection was a little too colorful for my liking. Didn't get a chance to try their hot table or coffees but will do so next time. Large seating area to have a quick coffee and snack.

The cannoli and gelato is to die for šŸ˜šŸ˜‹. Great patio and lots of parking. Freshly made pastries and the service is very good. I only gave 4 stars because they really should consider having some plant based milk for coffee.

Excellent cappuccino. Strong taste. This place is very clean and plenty of space to sit and enjoy a coffee or food.

The bakery items were pretty good, but the service was terrible! The lady behind the counter was pushy and barely spoke a word to us unless it was "what's next"-- she couldn't even bring herself to smile at us and kept this annoyed scowl on her face. The server acted like we were a nuisance and had such an attitude about everything. Shame really, if the service was any better I would be willing to go back there again.

I gave these 2stars just for relatively good coffee & pastry & food. Other than that, their terrible customer service is really disappointing! Iā€™ve been there before and enjoyed supporting a local business, but today I realized they donā€™t care about their customers at all! They didnā€™t allow me to sit for coffee & pastry as it was lunch time and they wanted to save the tables for lunch customers! While I could see other people already sitting for coffee. I kinda understand that policy, but how they deliver it, staff and even store manager, thatā€™s the very disrespectful part. Iā€™m totally disappointed and was hoping they would care a bit about their service.

We were passing thru the area- we try whenever possible to support local small businesses when we eat out- avoiding the chains and fast good- we thought it was going to be a sweet meal with desserts& we found they have a hot tray area- including eggplant parmigiana- I always like eggplant- we ordered eggplant and were pleased to be able to eat at the patio tables outside- the serving of eggplant was quite large with lots of eggplant and was tasty- would go back if in the area-

Always fresh hot tables. This time we got the last rice balls and it wasn't even noon.

I am appalled by the poor service and that shame every respectable restaurant. I just went with my wife this morning for a brekfast I orderd for each a small portion of 2 eggs and vegetable salad next to it with tomatoes and cucumbers Two small rolls and 2 cup of coffee(Americana) The bill for that serving was $ 28.20 At the end of the meal I asked for a glass of regular water for my medication but I was refused I was told that for whater you have to buy a bottle of water" our owner won't let as give whater" only by baying water. In my humble opinion that the paymen was to expensive compered to other restaurants for identical dish and also not to give in the above service a glass of water- Shame I'm no longer going into this Resturant/Bakery Your judgment.

Have been many times....last week we left withoit purchasing anything. Service was non-existent. You stand there to purchase pastries and nobody helps you...yet they are behind counter.

We will not go back.....
Had the porchetta sandwich which was amazing. Would of scored the place higher but then tried the pizza. Pizza was meh. But that porchetta was something special.

Havent been here for years. I remember it as a good place to eat with great pastries and desserts. Yeah. Not anymore. Well at least the pastry/ dessert part.

So came on a Saturday early afternoon because I was going to a girlfriends for a baby shower. I offered to bring something. I've been to the mini d'aversa in aurora recently so thought I'd give this one a go.

That was a big expensive embarrassing mistake. I spent a lot of money on a box of treats.

To start with it should have been in two boxes but the last behind the count jammed everything I to one. You don't see until they come around. So she save 50 cents on a 50 dollar order.

Got a box jammed packed with really stale cookies, hard cream puffs, curdled cream in those puffs - they smelled. They actually smelled like rotting milk. Cannolis that were different sizes and soft on the bottom where the grainy old cream soaked through. Well those that were actually filled. Some of them only were filled on the edges. Super.

We called to complain and was told that I was lying and that everything was made in the morning. I'm not sure what morning they were talking about. It wasn't Saturday morning. Maybe Monday or Tuesday judging by the staleness and curdling.

Won't be back

It was Sunday evening after dinner, and SWMBO had the great idea to head out somewhere for a cappuccino and dessert, especially since it was a long weekend. So we found a couple of dessert places on the Zomato app, but unfortunately a number of places that we passed were closing or already closed.

After plans A, B, C, D and E did not pan out, we headed to plan F, which was Nino's, and it was still open. Don't get me wrong; the fact that we didn't head there first is not a knock against Nino's at all. I've enjoyed their Italian hot table several times before. It just didn't come up when I was searching for dessert places.

At the end of it all we enjoyed Chocolate Cake and Chocolate Caramel Cheesecake, along with a tasty Cappuccino and Hot Tea. A decadent delight.

The hot food looks like it's been sitting out there for awhile. Coffee was the highlight, pizza is ok if need quick bite in the area. Desserts seem nice, but didn't try.

RM

Owner is very rude. This was my first visit to the bakery. My friend and I had lunch there and bought some sweets to take away. I ordered one of the vegetarian options (layers of pasta and bread crumbs). It was average - a little too salty for my liking but not terrible. We continued chatting after we finished our meal and then the owner dropped by and said "excuse me ladies" and took away our glass of water. She didn't even ask if we were done with the water. Since we hadn't even spent one full hour there, we decided to continue chatting and grabbed another glass of water. About 15 minutes later the owner dropped by our table again, took our water, and asked "is there anything else I can get for you?" with a somewhat rude tone. We said nope, and then she told us she needed the table. (But both of us did not see anyone waiting for the table.) Well, we didn't feel great staying there anymore, and we promise we won't come back or recommend that place to anyone. We're very reasonable people, we'd leave if people are waiting for table. All the owner has to do is ask nicely. Anyways, if you want great Italian food, go to Grazie. Nino D'Aversa is good only if you want quantity (lots of bread, pile of pasta) over quality.

I've been disappointed with their veal sandwiches. I've been back a few times and each time gas been consistently disappointing. It is very bland.

Disappointing While I often.... Disappointing
While I often appreciate a decent coffee, bakery, and Italian food in general, I agree with the other commenters and fins this location fall well short of my humble expectations.
The atmosphere is nice and clean. The positives stop there. The hot food needs to be reheated in the microwave (how's that a hot table then?). The pastries are overpriced and feel nothing less than a rip off. The service, worst of all, is curt and generally rude. I couldn't tell if they really want you to stay and eat or drive you out as quickly as possible.
Given the choices elsewhere, I would neither come back again nor recommend this location.

Not that great. This doesn't taste like italian food, it doesn't give you that satisfaction that italian food usually does, that feeling that's made it the most popular cuisine in the world, somethings not being done right, no heart.

Hot Table Food Sub Standard. I have been a regular customer for the past 2 years. Born and raised in Italy and moved to Canada 5 years ago, I know how Italian food is supposed to be.

I don't know what's wrong with this place, but in the past year the food from their hot table has been sub standard.

Dried out meat and chicken. Running and slimely side dishes. Bland flavouring...

since I eat a lot at this place it almost taste like the food was re-processed into other dishes the next day..

Someone needs to step up and replace the senior citizen cooks back there with more modern young chefs and get the standard food back up with some energy and don't cut corners.

Considering the prices went up and the food quality went down, going to an all you can eat italian restaurant looks good right about now.. Hope this yonge street location smartens up and makes some drastic changes.

One of the best pizzas i've ever had! And their gelato is delicious as well!

Stale, Sour Food and Worse Service. My spouse and I had been regular customers since the Thornhill location opened, but the attitude has only gotten worse behind the counter over the years. Despite that, we went for our favourite, tiramisu, but that hasn't been as good as in years past either. Still we go, but no more. Tonight we were served sour, dry, stale and hard tiramisu that tasted more like spoiled cheesecake than the light, moist, creamy dessert we were used to. When I took it to the counter to return it, I wasn't apologized to. I was told "You're the first one to complain all day." Not once, but twice, rudely. I'm not going back there again. And I wouldn't send anyone there as I had done many times in past. Instead, I would warn people to stay away, very far away.

There are too many options in this place and so far, everything that I have tried did not disappoint.
