Review Home Of Hot Taste - Thornhill

I've been going here since 2012 and I still love this place. It has changed plenty over the past 10 years. The tteokbokki was spicy but bearable. I missed the past when it was crazy spicy but going forward I think more people can enjoy their dishes. The onion chicken is always amazing and their fire chicken with fried rice is perfect and simple.

Changing my review to 3 stars as I noticed that they are not honest about pricing. When I asked her about it she said the prices are different from the website. Two portions of chicken and one can were $70 Otherwise food is Excellent. Photos are from previous time.

Can’t go wrong with egg soup! Nothing to pick on that. Came back here many times because their spicy KFC is amazing, always juicyyy. Also had their prinkle(cheese) chicken, really good as well but it’s powder so makes sense if the chicken is a tad bit drier than the spicy sauce one. Blazing cheese chicken (the plate) was dry, first time ordering and a bit too spicy for my taste, flavouring is good if the chicken pieces were more less dry. Otherwise, get their KFC!!

A few items on the menu are really good, but other items didn't have the same quality. [Food] We ordered the Blazing Fire Chicken and the Blazing Fire Chicken Wings. Both of which blew me away, the spices were on point. We also ordered the Original Fried Chicken which didn't have enough flavour, and the Fried Chicken w/ Garlic Soy Sauce which was not appetizing. [Service] The service was a bit slow even though the restaurant was empty. Our waitress was very nice though.

Ordered half half chicken and booldak rice. the taste was average. origin fried chicken was better than marinated chicken. The sauce tasted very average. most of chicken was fine but i found a drumstick little smelly. I think i would order original chicken next time. server was nice and wasn't busy during week day lunch time

Always a favourite place for Korean fried chicken. Their website and menu prices are all very outdated. I couldnt scan the QR code at the restaurant. But their half/half chicken is now $30.99 as a reference for the whole chicken, their menu says $26.40

Home of Hot-Taste continues to be the most consistent fried chicken place. Snow chicken, blazing chicken, original fried chicken with bones, egg soup, everything is good. Social distancing measures in effect. Vaccination passport is required for dine in.

Menu has a big variety of things to try outside of fried chicken compared to other places. Friendly and quick service even when we went on a weekend night. Cool ambience and generally seemed clean and tables well separated. Bf and I always try tteokbokki at places that serve it and we might have missed the indication that theirs is super spicy and it was probably one of the spiciest things I've ever eaten in my life (we almost died but it was worth powering through it lol) just a warning before ordering unless you like that stuff!

Food is average, service is below standard. <br/>Customer service is the lowest level, basic service training for owner and staffs is needed.<br/>...

Always amazing Korean fried chicken wings at this place. Favourite is definitely the original with no sauce. The rice cake seems extra spicy tonight but delicious nonetheless. Always a delicious meal here! Love!

I really do love the wings here, but we stopped coming because of the service. It is like once your order is taken and the food comes out you have to always be the one calling for the server. Also, I don't like the dipping sauces, I find it has some cinnamon taste to it, so I always bring my own :)

The Korean fried chicken and beer 🍗🍺culture is frequently merging in kpop series! It's the hottest food item portrayed in these super star series!😊 I had to emerge myself in this culture and hook myself up with some crispy fried chicken🍗 and beer 🍺!👍<br/><br/>Home of hot taste is known for their crispy fried chicken and wings! Knowing that, I opted for the original fried chicken with sweet hot sauce and crispy fries. The chicken is made fresh so there is about a 20 min wait time which I don't mind because it's made fresh and the chicken comes to your table pipping hot! The chicken was simply delicious. There isn't a load of spices or seasoning but super crispy and juicy. It also comes with coarse salt on the side, for sesoning. I also ordered sweet hot sauce. From other reviewers I was told the sauce is super hot and that was primarily the reason I wanted to try it because I absolutely adore spiciness. But I was disappointed as it was somewhat odd tasting, overtly sweet and bland.😕 Next time I will definitely skip the sauce. I loved the chicken and fries however, much -much-much better than Kernel Sander's fried chicken I'm afraid (strictly my personal opinion of course). 😄! I'll be back for more fried chicken soon and continue to engage myself in the Korean pop culture. Love it!😊❤👍<br/>

We were served some salad and pickled turnips which were perfect to tone down the heat. I personally wouldn’t really call it Ban Chan as it didn’t seem quite complete, but anyway…<br/><br/>Our Blazing Fire chicken arrived on a hot plate—a good serving for about 2-3 people ($15.99 each order). Sweet and very spicy sauce generously covered boneless dark and white meat. Some roasted seaweed topped the dish. It was quite good—the meat was tender and juicy. The sauce had us asking for another pitcher of water!<br/><br/><br/><br/>The Oyster Kimchi rice was also good. The rice was well-cooked, neither soggy nor hard to the bite. I could hardly see any oysters, though. Also, the sauce of the Blazing Fire chicken drowned out any heat the kimchi rice might have had. (I would suggest white rice for the Blazing Fire chicken). I don’t think I would do the kimchi rice justice by describing it now. <br/><br/>What hubby and I did enjoy more was what we ordered for the kids—the Original Crispy chicken. Well, we came looking for KFC right? We got a half chicken. It was a bit on the pricey side at $8.99, especially when the pieces were not very big. However, the crispy skin won me over, so I will overlook that for now. The chicken is fried twice which makes it extra crispy, each bite having a crunch! The meat is tender and flavourful. We have realized that this fried chicken is definitely something we will be craving for—in the very near future! And while there is some salt-herb mix you can dip your chicken into, a good gravy would definitely work well!

Love this place for its cheap food and cheap drinks. A hidden gem. The only downside was that i ordered a half chicken once and it had chicken hair on it. I order chicken wings now instead. Also another downside, the batter last time was inconsistent. They might be changing their batter but i would recommend they keep the original version since it was more crunchy.

Everything is Hot at Home of Hot Taste! <br/><br/>I was kind of expecting the Chicken Wings be sinfully crispy but not happening this afternoon. They were kind of smallish but were quite tasty. The sauce was quite interesting as it has this spiciness with a hint of sweetness. The fried rice though was really oily with not much flavours, I wish they were drowned in some hot sauce. <br/><br/>I think I need to come back and just eat a half crispy skin fried chicken........... and extra HOT please!

One thing I had observed during my both visits, This place is extremely well staffed. They provide plenty of attention to their food, ensure waters are refills without the guests raising their hands half the time. The place was clean, Their washrooms were clean. Food was excellent! I would give this place 4.5 out of 5.0. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys fried chicken and wants to try Korea's take on fried chicken. I am definitely planning to return to this Home of Hot Taste sometime. To those who can take more heat than Popeyes Chicken in Spicy, this is a place for you to go.

I ordered the Spicy Oyster Soup ($10). My order came with salad and pickled radish. I was also provided with a raw egg to put into my boiling pot of soup when it arrived. The appearance of my soup was very appealing and it had the taste to match. Ingredients included calamari, shrimp, oysters, vegetables, rice, and more. A delicious blend of flavours that will warm your belly!

Home of Hot Taste is located in uptown Toronto (north of Steeles), and hands down they have the best KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) in town.  Initially, we went there out of curiosity and comments that others have made about this restaurant, but after the first visit, we know Home of Hot Taste will become one of our go to restaurants.

One of the best k food north of Steeles. Must try fire chicken, fusion egg, and steam chicken with veggies (for the health conscious). Pleasantly surprised. Recommended. <br/><br/>RM

A month before our wedding, I was hit with a huge craving for KFC (Korean Fried Chicken). Fried chicken wasn't really part of "wedding diet", but my appetite is stronger than my self control. It helps (or not) that The Hubby also can't resist fried goodness. So we drove up to Home of Hot Taste for a weekend dinner. For the two of us, we ordered a whole order of Original Fried Chicken with a side of Spicy, Sweet Sauce. I really wanted to try one of their Blazing Fire plates but the price and portion size would’ve been too much food for two people, especially as The Hubby didn’t want anything spicy.

Place was busy, food was nice and hot!! They mixed up our order but it was all good. We Ordered the fish cake soup, spicy wings, oyster kimchi rice, ddukbokki. Will definitely recommend this place.

Good Chicken. We ordered a 1/2 and 1/2 order of chicken, 1 half original the other half sweet & sour. Excellent. Also had some rice cakes, a little too spicy for my taste but my wife liked them and she likes spicy stuff. Service was a little slow, we had two servers for the restaurant and it was busy. And this was on a Monday night. We have 1 and a half chickens and two sides. Total bill was $55.

The new wing place to go to!. $3 beer and $6.99 wings.... what more can i say?<br/><br/>This place is actually a chain..there's another location around yonge and bloor and i also read that there were about 60 chains in Korea! Nonetheless, we went here for dinner and it definitely met our expectations!<br/><br/>The place itself was nice and big and you know it's authentic korean because it's run by Koreans! <br/><br/>The menu is simple, you can order a hot plate of chicken dishes, or go for the crispy fried chicken selection they have! When you order the fried chicken, you can order the Small order of wings (10 wings) or the Large order of wings (which we assumed was 20 wings since the price was more or less doubled). You can also order the Half chicken or the Full chicken (which they cut into peices and fry it). We decided to order the Soy Garlic fried half chicken and the Small order of Spicy Wings.. We also ordered the Oyster Kimchi fried rice.. (i'll get to that in a minute)<br/><br/>The Soy Garlic fried chicken was pretty good.. it reminded me of a teriyaki type of sauce but more garlicy. It also wasn't the sticky kind like typical Honey Garlic wings. (They even state that on the menu!) it was a dry kind of fchicken.. not too much wet sauce and seasoned with sesame seeds.<br/><br/>The spicy wings, was by far the best spicy wings i've ever had!! The spicy was SAVOURY. It wasn't so spicy that i wasn't able to enjoy my food (i know some people like that though). But this was just great. You can tell it was going to be a good amount of spice because that first bite had your mouth on fire (yet wanting more)! This one was more saucy..i had sauce drippings all over my shirt :(<br/><br/>Finally, the oyster kimchi fried rice was my all time favourite. for $6.99 you get a huge hot plate full of this rice and it was AMAZING! topped with seaweed bits on top... it was perfection and i'm not even kidding or exagerating. i loved it.<br/><br/>On top of that, what's a Korean meal without some free appetizers?? they gave us a plate of salad for two (with simple ginger dressing - nothing special) and a bowl of pickled white radishes (typically given when eating fried chicken -- something i learned when i was in Korea). Brought back many good memories that's for sure!<br/><br/>This place is going to be somewhere i'd be willing to go to every weekend, that's for sure. Who needs all-star wings, st. louis, or super star wings when you've got HOME OF HOT TASTE!

... also known as Buldak 불닭, is a Korean restaurant that serves the popular Korean Fried Chicken and Blazing Fire Chicken. This restaurant has two locations in downtown Toronto near Yonge and Bloor St. and in Thornhill, north of Yonge and Steeles. Their menu offers a great selection of chicken dishes, seafood dishes, soups and other snack food dishes. People enjoy dining at Home of Hot Taste for lunch or for dinner with friends and family. Not only is this restaurant a great place to eat, many people come here to have drinks with friends at night, mostly during the weekends.

If you came here to drink soup I’d venture to say there are better choices out there. If you are here for chicken then mister or ma’am you have found yourself a new chill place in Thornhill. Chicken wings taste pretty good, my boyfriend thinks his aunt could do the same but they are very crispy – not greasy – and well cooked!

I thought there were going to be more cheese drizzled on it because the picture on their menu showed the dish of hot chicken SUBMERGED and SWIMMING in cheese. More cheese would have made the dish even better. The chicken was well flavoured and the pieces were made from the thighs of the chicken so that it was not rough or dry. It was quite good regardless.

I definitely want to come here again to try out the other food (and eat more wings)!

They have amazing food and cheap drinks. That’s a great combination already! They have regular hours on the weekdays but on the weekend, they’re open late, until about 2 p.m. Drop by and give them a try! Skip your local KFC.<br/>

We ordered Fried Chicken with sweet and hot Sauce (yangnyeom chicken), Blazing Fire Chicken with Sausage, Fried Chicken with Green Onion, and Egg Soup. The yangnyeom chicken had a crispy batter on the outside and moist meat on the inside. The flavour of the sauce was a mix between a sweet and savory taste with a kick of spice, the perfect combination. The Blazing Fire Chicken was cooked with a hot marinade that was very spicy. But even though it was hot, it tasted delicious and the sausages really helped balance out the spiciness. The Fried Chicken with Green onion is a great choice for those looking for a non-spicy dish. The green onion salad had a sesame oil dressing which went really well with the chicken. And the Egg Soup was very delicious and helped to cut the greasiness of all the fried food.
