Review Nguyen Huong Vietnamese Sandwich - Thornhill

This place used to be really good and affordable. The food quality really gone downhill. They really cheap out on the meat and veggies on the sandwiches and had price increased. The meat spring roll barely have any meat in it, there’s a layer of dough inside. The service is terrible and with the price increase they should at least keep the food quality the same. They only accept cash which is ridiculous. I also witnessed a worker dropped a few breads on the floor and picked it back up and put it in the bread pile. It should be in the garbage, when I mentioned it they just ignored me. Very disappointing!

So this store only do take out, u just go in a grab whatever u need then pay. The sandwiches are always good and affordable, I ordered a $3.5 small sandwich and love it as usual. Don’t expect the staff to be very nice but I mean it’s just a take out store they don’t have to be very nice LOL stop complaining :(((

I never seen such miserable looking ladies in my life as the ones that work here. The sandwiches are okay, good cheap lunch. I'd like them take it easy on the yellow spread thing, but the few times I asked them to hold back this or add more chili they look pretty upset about it. It could be the language barrier.

Note that this place is takeout and cash only. No dine-in. Their takeout food and sandwiches are pretty good for what you pay for. I like to order the banh mi mostly. For customer service, the women there don't exactly tell you how their ordering system works if you're new, and then get upset as to why you haven't ordered. So if anyone reads this, for the banh mi you have to order on the side during the lineup before you get to the cash or else they panic. Old lady who works there loves to stare if you've apparently done something wrong and the other lady is pushy, and the lady at the cash is ok. Just a 1-star rating for this place though. Everyone who reviewed this place before is right - just to quickly get your food and go. No need to expect amazing and friendly customer service because you will not get any here.

Come here if you want to experience terrible service!!!! Very disappointed, I’d leave 0 start if I could. I came there to buy and of course have the money to PAY for the food but they treated me like I’m begging for it you know. Not a positive vibe at all the whole time I was there, there was no greetings even though they were not busy (3 pp just standing around), no asking if I’d like to order anything just staring, no smiling, not even a thank you. The sandwiches were ok but never come back again with this kind of business treat customers like that.

Holy cow the prices keep going up! I visited the Jane and finch location yesterday and bought a large assorted sub for $5 and I wanted another today but this location is closer to me but they tried to charge me $6! Keep in mind this is the same company!

I'm not sure why people are complaining that the sandwiches are expensive when they only range from $3-$5 each. That's very affordable in my opinion, especially with most fast food restaurant prices going up as well. I always order the spicy assorted cuts banh mi and its always very yummy. Sometimes there's more peppers so it's extra spicy and sometimes there's not many and it's quite mild so that can be a bit disappointing but again, it's only $3 so I can't really complain. Service is very fast and what I'd expect from a store like this. I appreciate the efficient no-fluff service so I can just get in and get out. Please remember you can't expect 5-star dine-in restaurant service at a takeout spot so manage your expectations! One thing to note: they only accept cash.

Little Vietnamese banh mi (sandwich) shop inside the B&T supermarket. It’s cash only. Plenty of parking but it does get busy. There are no tables or seats so it’s takeout.

Eat Your Subs Out, Mr. Sub, Subway Et Al. E: Where else could you buy a delicious sandwich whose prices range from $2.25 to $3.75? This branch of the Banh Mi Nguyen Huong sandwich and deli shops has all the essentials of Vietnamese sandwich that one could want. Assorted Cold Cuts, Shredded Pork Rind, Cured Pork, Vegetarian, Shredded Sandwich and Peppercorn Ham Sandwiches are $2.25. Garlic Honey Sausage and Super (Deli) Sandwiches are $2.75. BBQ Chicken or BBQ Pork Sandwiches are $3.50. The key, however, is that not only are the sandwiches cheap, but they are also tasty. Given a company owned bakery and a requirement for Vietnamese baguettes to be thin and not doughy, the Banh Mi at Nguyen Huong is a nice meal. Both the Shredded Pork and Lemongrass Sausage were tasty and filled with carrots, coriander, mayonnaise, cucumber, pepper and meat. Just like their downtown location when one replies positively regarding whether the sandwich should be spicy one finds that all of it has landed in one spot inside the bun. Bite one no spice. Bite two no spice. Bite three very spicy! Your experience will only differ in terms of the sequence to spicy.
Nguyen Huong also offers deli, sausages, coloured drinks like three-coloured drinks, prepared meals and rolls.
For my money the fresh baguette and delicious sandwiches here yields a more satisfying sandwich than Mr. Sub, Subway or Extreme Pita, whose menu items are twice as expensive as their Vietnamese competition.
-
A: This is strictly a take-out shop nestled on the side of the large B&T (take that T&T!) Vietnamese supermarket where one can buy Vietnamese goods such as mystery meats, mystery tropical fruits, mystery eggs and an assortment of east and south Asian cookies, biscuits and pastry.
The sandwich shop was almost clean, roomy and brightly lit by the god-awful fluorescent that washes over any good factory floor.
-
T: It was 6:45 on a Friday night and accessing and parking at Vaughan Mills was as hellish as any greedy and overcrowded mall in the GTA. Being located by Rutherford and away from the main mall and restaurants means that there is more available parking here than elsewhere at Vaughan Mills. Malls are hellish for cars, and impossible for pedestrians, on any normal day; Vaughan Mills has just taken the discomfort and inconvenience one notch higher.
The shop was relatively quiet, however, and I had my sandwiches being prepared instantly. A Vietnamese lady with a young daughter and a young Chinese lady soon entered and there were four of us, but safe to say Nguyen Huong is a rapid transit operation. A Vietnamese couple walked in as I was leaving and they too were instantly taken care of.
-
S: The lady at the cash and the second employee, who came from the back to prepare the sandwiches, were friendly and welcoming.
Nguyen Huong only accepts cash.
Banh (whose name comes from the French word for bread, namely 'pain') has come to mean many sorts of food in Vietnamese, but 'Banh Mi' still largely refers to sandwiches or 'buns.' This is similar to the Japanese word for bread, which is 'pan' and stems from the Portuguese word.
Banh Mi Nguyen Huong is a good choice for a quick and inexpensive sandwich.

Nguyen Huong's Banh Mi is my perfect in between meal snack!

I like how they made every single Banh Mi when their customer order them instead have them all pre made as at the Scarborough location. As I like to request my sandwich extra extra spicy!!

Line moves fast! Even before I can decide what I want! Grilled Pork? Lemongrass Sausage? Chicken? Cold Cut?

I can snack on one of those everyday!

FYI, Scarborough location does have a less doughy baguette for their more expensive banh mi.
