Review Shalom India - Thornhill

Sigal Koshokaro
I recently enjoyed a delicious lunch at Shalom India. The patio was very nice and intimate. We ordered the butter chicken and Tandoori Chicken and it was absolutely delicious. The children enjoyed the schnitzel and the portions were huge. I will definitely come back for more delicious Kosher Indian cuisine soon!

Bland food and small portion of meat for the price. Ordered takeout: 1 Chicken Tikka, 1 Dal Makhani, 2 Zaatar Naan. We received 5 small cubes of overcooked dry flavorless chicken. The Dal Makhani portion was alright but it also had no flavour. The naan was good but $4/naan is a bit pricey. Both dishes came on rice. We're confused as to why this restaurant has a 4.8 star review. We were excited to try it based on reviews but were completely disappointed. Is this atypical? Would be interested to see a reply from management as to why it was so bad.

Ok so this is my favourite Indian restaurant ever. I just love this food so much. You can taste the freshness. My family loves it, my friends whom I recommended to love it; I pretty much ordered everything on their menu at this point! The Shalom India restaurant is an amazing place!

Great food & service! When you request the food to be spicy, its spicy & delicious. Worth trying out this local gem, when you're looking to get something different. Also, excellent selection of dishes. All the best!

Not even a hint of Indian spices smell. Food was okay, but bland, no spice. We wanted to dine in, and our food was served in the prison plate - a metal tray with sections. The washroom was very dirty. Our server was very friendly and nice!

Tried a few Chinese dishes. The pineapple lemon chicken was decent. The human beef was okay but wasn't spicy at all. Both of these dishes came in containers that were more than half filled with rice even though that's not stated on the menu. An order of szechuan Shanghai beef was fine but no spice. Chicken chow mein was tasty but nothing memorable. The eggrolls tasted more like samosas. On our previous visit we ordered from the Indian menu and that was probably a bit better than the Chinese menu. The serving sizes were fine though overstuffed with rice. It's too bad that Toronto has so few kosher Chinese options - and of course, because of nouveau kashrut rules (rules that came into effect in the 1990s), you can't really get broccoli, cauliflower, or many other veggies. Overall, I'm not sure that this was as authentic tasting as Golden Chopstix but it is nice to have some variety in Toronto. On the Indian side, the Naans and other breads are very good so I"ll probably go back to the Indian next time. On the cost side - for the 4 dishes described and 4 eggrolls, the bill was about $90. Food for 4 easily, maybe 5.

The best food, the best service, extremely nice staff and chef. Highly recommended, especially if you keep kosher and want to experience tasting authentic Kosher Indian food. Canโ€™t go wrong with this place.

Absolute disaster! Ordered dal and it was completely cold and dried up (was not freshly made) had no flavor other than hot spice.... Ordered bhindi which was full of pulp(sticky)and as same spicy and wasn't looking good even (no garnish and only white watery sauce). Should improve quality of food for sure ! It's shalom india but they didn't have any other Israeli dish in Menu except shakshuka which is really disappointing for people who go for some twist and Israeli food....I was shocked not having the humus and falafel in menu ๐Ÿ˜• ๐Ÿ˜ณ
