Nestled on the corner of Yonge street in North York, Symposium Cafe restaurant and Lounge does catch one's eye.
My sister and I tried this restaurant several months ago and kept on coming back on weekends.
Each day, they offer a speciality such as on Sunday, buy one slice of cake and get the second for free- whereas on Fridays bottle of wines have a discount.
On the many occasions I have been to the Symposium, I found their dishes very generous an appetizing, whether it is the salad of the salmon dish. The latter is well cooked and marinated to a point that I ate the whole platter within minutes.
The waiters are very friendly and attentive. The music is not too loud nor out of place. The dim light would make it perfect for date night.
I tried their carrot cake and it is to die for.
Prices are fair for the quantity and quality you are offered.
Which reminds me I am up for another comeback soon.
I am eating in restaurants almost everyday, but if I find time I try to go to symposium for breakfast ,the service is very different and the foods are so delicious and nice portioned, last time I was there last week it was very pleasant and my waitress also manager were very attentive, normally in other restaurants after they serve the food you dont see the server after you get your food and you never see the manager but symposium you don't need to look for them they always around and keep asking if you need anything else ,I definitely come back again and again
Came with two friends. We had breakfast which was really tasty and very reasonably priced! I had the Tuscan Benedict which came with a side of potatoes. Coffee is $2 with free refills if you get any breakfast which i also liked. Staff is nice.
This is a great girls night place. I've only ever came for desserts and drinks. A perfect combination! They do both great here.
It's located in a busy part of Thornhill, Markham side. Whats great us that the driveway has a signal. So its easy to get in. Parking on the other hand......
It's the suburbs so there's a large free parking lot. Good. Um... It's in a busy plaza with a lot of restaurants so, parking can be really stressful. There's parking behind the buildings but its dark and scary.
It's decorated in a European theme, Italian I think. Pretty. It's dark wood, clean lines, booths and tables. Very welcoming and comfortable.
They have the best patio. In warm weather it's always full and happening. It's the place to be in Thornhill.
Staff are great. The male wait staff are just the right amount of flirty and the female wait staff are really friendly.
You aren't rushed, no one pressures you.
It's a nice comfortable place, good food, great staff.
Met a colleague at Symposium Cafe for a business lunch today, to catch up on a few things. The restaurant was moderately busy, but there were some tables available. I was at this location a few years ago when it opened. I find the decor warm and inviting.
Today I was in the mood for a salad lunch, and I selected the Greek Salad with Salmon. The salad was fresh and lightly dressed. The salmon was cooked the way I like it. No complaints.
Great variety, good food, service a bit slow.
Only went once though so will give it another try sometime soon, although I heard from a friend who was there in a big group that service needed improvement.
Great staff and management!. Been a regular customer for several months now and my experience has always been excellent! Recomend highly!
Enjoyable lunch. Took my mother for lunch. We had 2 different pasta specials. Enjoyed the meal. Staff attentive. Will try breakfast next time.
I expected the portion to be bigger as when it was brought to us at the table, it was only a tiny mountain of rice, sausage, shrimp, vegetables in tomato sauce. There weren’t even that many pieces of chicken and it wasn’t spicy at all even though its description stated that the tomato sauce would be spicy.
When they first opened, my family and and I came here all the time so I've tried a few different items. I've had and enjoyed the Mussels Marinara, Cajun dusted Shrimp, Fish and Chips , Wings, Bruschetta, Firecracker Shrimp and the Roasted Veg Flatbread. My parents are addicted to the carrot cake and the Monday cheap hamburger my husband said was not bad. I would not particularly recommend the martinis and the waffles are not consistent. I had to send my waffle ice cream sandwich back for not being cooked properly (the waffle was heavy and doughy instead of fluffy and light) and the time before that I just stopped eating it early on because it was not good at all. I was not impressed by the breakfast that I had their but I am a picky breakfast person since I cook pretty excellent breakfast food at home.
