Review Oshio Restaurant Ltd - Thornhill

Love this place, they have the most delicious rolls! Opened for takeout during the pandemic, the pick up is very convenient. The menu is modified - no main dishes in terms of cooked foods, so only sushis and sashimis.

Nice place, definitely glad I came. Other places I don't get full, but here had decent quality food and worth the price. You get quite a bit for what you pay for. Service was pretty good too. The only issue was that it was kind of empty - but it's a little expected for the area for dinner time. Definitely fill those seats or head over if you don't want to wait somewhere else for seats. Highly recommended.

Service was good but sushi and sashimi are disappointed. Food in general can only compete with those low quality ones out there.

Good food fair prices and the staff are so nice. Everyone says hi and bye even when you just do take out including the chefs! Great place sashimi is on point

Friendly staff, great food and prices are very competitive. I go on my lunch break sometimes.

A very nice accommodating restaurant. Food is definitely good and fresh. Beware the wasabi is stronger here than at most other restaurants!

The food here is pretty decent but the service is what turns me off. When ordering take out they are always late with their orders and I'm talking an extra 20 min or more late on more than one occasion. My mom gets so upset when they do that, that this place does not exist to her anymore. The owner, an older Korean man is so rude and mean to his staff and says the most inappropriate things to them in Korean. It completely turns me off having to hear him curse while I eat. Very poorly run.

Oshio Japanese Restaurant is one of those small nooks in the area featuring a good variety of sushi, sashimi, classic bento box meals, korean dishes and noodle specials.
They have all-day bento box specials which seem to be a very good value for decent quantity/variety.
We had seafood udon which was heavier on the noodles than actual seafood.
The dynamite roll was part of the "special maki" list and was just enough for this palate at this late hour.
Service was friendly and attentive from the beginning. Interesting classical music on the background radio station. The decor was just the way it has always been since the original owner opened a few years ago. It's attractive and relaxing and will mainly attract local residents or those who might hop off the 404.
The menu is extensive for this small establishment so this should satisfy you for run-of-the-mill asian-inspired dishes.

Best Black Dragon Rolls !!. I always order the black dragon roll (cut into 8 pieces). The shrimp tempura is fresh and warms the rice a bit which is super nice, unlike the cold rolls with cold and hard rice from the supermarkets. Topped with bbq eel (unagi). Tried other places but nowhere near as good.

We were pleasantly surprised to find this place. We decided to try it because Congee Queen had a 1 hour line at lunch during the weekend. Oshio has a good selection of affordable lunch bentos and portions. The quality of sashimi was very good. We were very happy with the cooked food too (tempura, teriyaki, fried dumplings). The staff were very quick, kind and polite.

Bit pricy. But in my opinion. Worth every penny.
Service is superb, staff/owner are always smiling and greeting you.
If you are new to there and you behave friendly and outgoing towards them, they sometimes give you extra service(food/dessert).

Food there is exceptional for how much you dish out.
I would recommend any sushi fanatics to take a visit.

I always leave happy. I really want this place to succeed. They are new-ish (maybe a couple of years old?) and somewhat hidden from view when driving along Steeles, so this is most likely the reason why it's usually quiet, and only locals seem to go there. They have amazing customer service and you can tell they take a lot of pride in using fresh ingredients; just take a look at the sushi bar when you enter to see for yourself.

Oshio. The restaurant is nicely decorated, and cozy. The staff are friendly and the quality of the sushi is alright. I'd say that it tastes rather average, doesn't have any WOW factors. But the prices are reasonable and it's right by my house, so I go there from time to time.

Most quality everyday Japanese restaurant in my neighbourhood. Easily come here regularly and for special occasions.

Gets my approval!. This place is located in the don mills and steeles plaza and has my definite approval! The prices are pretty reasonable and the menu gives variety. The place itself isn't that big, but it is pretty nice. There is a small, thin water display in the centre. The staff are attentive and nice. There is usually free fruit after your meal :)

I've been there a few times and hope to return a few more.

The sushi was pretty good! Grace absolutely loved the spicy salmon rolls that she ordered. The salmon pizza was also a great delight to look at; so nicely assembled! I’ve never seen sushi pizza made like this before with the entire slices of avocado and raw salmon lying on top.

Oshio is a neighbourhood Japanese restaurants at Steeles and Don Mills. I'm always looking for good Japanese restaurants near where I live, and after reading positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. We had some complimentary congee, which was very flavourful but overly salty for me. The tofu was also complimentary, but it wasn't particularly memorable. My favourite part of the meal was the assorted tempura , as it was very freshly fried. The interior was piping hot and the batter was light and not overly greasy. The tempura was very enjoyable in terms of both taste and texture.

The food is decent. I had sushi and roll lunch option. It's a small to medium place with a cheap lunch menu option. It's a good option for a rush lunch. It's conveniently located @ shod at steels.
