In the northern suburbs, it can be more of a challenge to find worthy restaurant destinations. Ferrovia has been around this Thornhill area for 15 years or more. Having been there a few times, what strikes me are the following: The basic menu has not changed at all. Of course you will have daily specials and seasonal ones. Also, the personnel is loyal and I recognized most of them. That is a good sign in this business.
At our table, we mainly went for the reliable staples. The carpaccio was as fresh as ever. I always enjoy the grilled calamari prepared to the non-chewy perfection. The appetizer portion was substantial compared to other places serving a similar dish. You also have a fresh assortment of greens, mushrooms and tomatoes.
For the main dish, I went for one of my natural choices which would be the seafood linguini comprised of mussels, scallops and shrimp. A fresh tomato sauce formed the base holding it all together. One person who ordered the same noticed that a few mussels were actually empty shells with no evidence that the edible portion fell into the sauce. Our helpful server quickly took action to get a few more mussels presented in a separate dish with the same tomato sauce. That's how it should be.
For dessert, I was hoping for some tartuffo. All desserts such as tirmasu, lava chocolate cake etc. are homemade. I settled for cappuccino gelato. I know the guy who makes the gelato, tartuffo etc and he does it the pure and honest way. Let me know if your restaurant would want to add these high quality desserts to your menu :)
The restaurant was very busy even for 6:15pm and luckily we had a reservation. People left but more were coming after we left. It's a good sign for this establishment. Perhaps a predictable menu with a helpful reliable waiting staff is all you need to present a very good and tasty variety.
The food was delicious, we got lamb shank and rack of lamb. People were very nice, nice area in Thornhill, atmosphere was beautiful and small however it is mostly an older crowd that go there.
Was here awhile ago, had the braised lamb shank. Very tender and moist. Good for uptown quality. Prices are a little high. Worth a try for variety.

I love tonight's special dish, sea bass...
Fish quality is great and it is cooked perfectly. Thanks.
A really traditional family restaurant with great services. Saw this restaurant on urban spoon app and decided to go here with gf for our anniversary. We order steamed PEI mussels for appetizer and the veal picata and it tasted great! My gf isn't a great fan of tomatoes, but she loved the spicy tomatoes sauce on the mussels. We had to ask for more bread to dip the sauce with. Overall a very nice environment and great food!
Neutralizes a bad day. A beautiful ITALIAN resto with beautiful ITALIAN food. It matches our need for quality ITALIAN cuisine. Thei veal is the BEST. ITALIANS NEVER FAIL. expensive so take a beautiful ITALIAN woman
Fantasic Ferrovia. I've been coming to this restaurant since 2005. On the recommendation of my future brother in law and wife, I went with my then fiance and have been going back there since. They have gorgeous decor, service is efficient and friendly. Food is awesome, I have never had any comlaint. Brought friends, colleagues and family members. Try the Fixed Prix Menu that is offered on Sunday and Monday evenings! Delightful!
So good! both the food and service was great. I highly recommend it!
Ferrovia hosts a prix fixe menu on Sunday and Monday nights during dinner. ... It really was a great deal to get three courses of food for the one of what a regular entrée usually costs ($23.95). For this reason, I ended up splurging a bit and ordered a martini as well.
Nelson @ Richmond Hill: This Italian restaurant is hidden in a supermarket strip mall which is too bad because it's pretty good. I had the prix-Fixe menu ($23.95) which started withe the Ferrovia Caesar, romaine hearts, crispy pancetta, Parmigiano & herb croutons and a grainy mustard and roast garlic dressing. The cheese was really salty, but I appreciated the conservative amount of dressing used as a Caesar salad drowning in dressing is a big pet peeve of mine. The crusty bread service with spread was so good that we had to get extra portions. Nice to see such a nice spread come with the meal. Someone also ordered a bruschetta pizza, which I tried as well. I had the slow braised lamb shank with a herb pan jus with roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The lamb was extremely tender and did not taste gamey at all. The potatoes and veggies went well with this dish as they soaked up the delicious sauce quite well. For dessert I tried the warm banana bread pudding which I finished
One of the best Italian restaurants I have been too! They have the best warm banana bread pudding. It is a must try! I also recommend trying the slow braised beef short rib and slow braised lamb shank. Both of them are super soft and fall off the bone. The service was also great. Restaurant was clean. Most importantly, food tasted amazing. I highly recommend trying and will definitely come back again.
This is the second time we come over here. All dishes are very tasty. The slow cook biased rib is so good. The daily special scallop risotto is worth mentioning. The scallop is cooked so well with the right timing. Next time we would like to try their desserts! Great dishes!
Absolutely delicious!!! My boyfriend and I came here on a Friday night, to our surprise it wasn't that busy. However my bf did Mention it's usually booked up or full cause it's small.
Food is a solid 5/5. Everything we ordered was soooo delicious. To recap, I got the beef tenderloin tartar, full rack of Lamb, and braised beef. Each and every dish was mouth watering and it was Soo good. Usually lamb has a gamey taste however, nope not here!! I absolutely loved it here. It would definitely be a staple in my go to places for Italian cravings.
Excellent service, the hot blonde waitress does an amazing job, her professionalism and personality so enjoyable ✅
The food is excellent especially the butternut squash soup and Tiramisu wow the best I have ever had.
Try this restaurant it’s excellent ✅👍

Ferrovia never disappoints, the attention to detail and the flavour combinations are phenomenal. We enjoyed a lovely evening with our parents, exploring some of the many dishes Ferrovia offers. John and his team are pure class, delivering a first class fining experience with a local feel. The even ending with a gorgeous sunset, doesn't get much better then this!
I have dined at Ferrovia Ristorante a handful of times for dinner. Each time my experience has been nothing but great! Staff is always pleasant and attentive. The manager always makes you feel at home and is just as engaged and attentive as the other staff.
I have ordered and tried many things off the menu; every time the food has been beyond satisfying. The food never disappoints! Be sure to ask for their nightly specials. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone for any occasion.
Ordered take out; lamb and soup. Food quality was top notch. Timing was perfect. Restaurant has a nice look too.
Mmm, it's been quite a while since I've eaten at Ferrovia. Their food is so darn delicious and I'm never disappointed!
On this visit, my friend had Shrimps to start and I had a delicious Warm Mushroom Salad.
Our main course was Lamb Chops and Short Ribs. Both were tender and full of flavour. I was actually impressed with how tender the short ribs were without falling apart. Delicious!
For dessert, we both had Pistachio Crusted Tartufo. It was a good finish to a great meal!
The service, as always, was impeccable!
