I took my wife here for her birthday with our children. From the moment we arrived we could feel the staff cared about what they were doing and wanted to make it a nice evening for us. The fresh bread at the beginning was amazing and so was the fried calamari. I had the veal chop special which was perfectly cooked and my wife had the stuffed chicken that she really liked. I can't remember what the girls ordered but they loved it. Prices were not cheap but for the quality and the experience we felt it was well worth it.
YUM!. This is a great restaurant! Walking in, it is very modern and stylish. There was a woman who greeted us at the door and was very nice and courteous. The bread was brought to the table and it was delicious! We then ordered a caesar salad to split and they kindly split it into two plates. Then I ordered the Thai Noodle Salad which was really good! I highly recommend it if you want something refreshing and light. Then, it was time for dessert. There was a bunch to choose from including cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory and much, much more. I ordered the Crème Brûlée which was so delicious! Overall, it was a great meal and we will DEFINITELY come back to try more of the delicious meals they have!
Beautiful restaurant and even better food!! I have been there many times and I've never been disappointed. The owner Mauro is super friendly, and I love the fact that I can watch the open kitchen. One of my favourite restaurants.
Best Gluten-Free Pizza! Thornhill's hidden gem!. Stonefire is definitely one of Thornhill's "hidden" gems when it comes to restaurants. This is definitely a classic "do not judge a book by its cover" restaurant. It's located in a small plaza surrounded by a residential neighborhood (for the most part), but it's a perfect dining experience for "date night" as its intimate atmosphere along with its simple but outrageously good Italian-inspired food definitely has us going back.
Gluten-Free pizza is becoming more mainstream, but Stonefire has definitely raised the bar with their next-level pizzas. They have the "classic" pizzas to select from but it's all about the customization!
Highly recommended!
Our new fave. Could not get enough of this. We just recently started going and already totally addicted. No matter what we have, the food always gets A++++, Ambiance A++++, Staff A++++, Pricing A++++. Flat out, everything about this restaurant is fantastic. We heard that there has been a necessary shift in ownership (previously we heard about the old co-owner and refused to go as we heard top many horror stories). We now find ourselves there on average two times a week. I would go everyday. Love it so much, I had my birthday party there and no editing required. Everything was perfect. Thank you to Mauro and Chantel who consistantly make our dining experience first class.
Great upscale, family friendly restaurant with a downtown feel. Great Pizza, Pasta, Seafood, Salads, Desserts and Service. The owners are very friendly and always make sure our dining experience is excellent. We'll be back again and again.
Lovely decor and desserts. I went there this past summer. I enjoyed a delicious dessert (molten lava cake). The decor is really nice, very contemporary and attractive. The servers were very friendly, chatting us up. I would go back again.
"worst dining experience ever". I just want to comment to "Uri" about his worst dining experience, I was sitting in the dining room of Stonefire that night right near his overdramatic party. There were 3 other parties going on, one in the party room where he was located and one in the dining room and one at the bar. The tables started filling up around 7-8 so obviously the menu's were in high demand and I saw the menu's be carried to his room as soon as the waiter in the bar took the other party's order. I also saw half of his "15" people come in late when half his party was already eating their appetizers. I'm sure the kitchen would've been able to produce his meals in less than an hour in five minutes but when you add appetizers and more orders, it is clearly obvious to most people that his entire tables order is going to need more time, unless he was expecting to eat first, before all his guests which I wouldn’t doubt. For a restaurant to be full and your expectations of combining two orders and getting the food right away is extremely unreasonable. Next time you're out for dinner why don’t you look around and enjoy the atmosphere, the company of your guests like every single other person in the restaurant instead of glaring at the kitchen with your arms crossed. The only unpleasant experience I have ever had at Stonefire was observing your high maintenance party and hearing you screaming at the owner from across the restaurant about the 15 bad reviews on Urbanspoon coming his way. That was what intrigued me to write my first review on Urbanspoon. The food is amazing and people like you shouldn't go out for dinner.
Great Evening at StonefireGrill. Enjoyed great service and food at Stonefire Grill. They were very accommodating with any changes from the menu choices. A lot to choose from in a casual, lively and beautifully decorated restaurant. Great choice for lunch or dinner. Looking forward to returning soon!!
Super yummy! Every Saturday night is date night with the wife. Its never a surprise when she says lets walk to Stonefire (the restaurant is at the end of our street). The owner knows us by name and always takes care of us. There atmosphere is great, it has a downtown vibe. I believe that I have tasted everything on the menu and everything is fresh and tasty. Even my 2 young kids love this place. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Food was amazing and desert is killing! Loved it!

Stopped by Fri night without reservations with a couple friends, waited in lounge for 15mins for booth, service was friendly and attentive, great selection, generous portions, awesome presentation, will make reservations next time.
Update 2013-been back over the holidays and were very impressed with attention to detail in their new menu!
I have been to Stonefire many times, probably like 6-7 times and I absolutely love it there. It is expensive but the food is really good. I've had the mushroom risotto, the ravioli, the chicken marsala, the pizza and my boyfriend has had the steak and the asian dish and we have loved all of these dishes! The servers are also always nice. The only bad thing is if ur sitting near the door it gets really cold! Also they don't have strawberry daquiris. Other than that this place is my favourite restaurant by far!
I love love love this restaurant. We had our daughter's b day party and it was big hit!! Good food all the time!!
My friend Adrienne recommended Stonefire to me a couple of months ago. It is located in Thornhill, near Hwy 7 & Bathurst. I'm excited since besides the big chains, such as Moxies, Milestones, Alice Fazoolis, etc) I'm oblivious to non-chain restaurants in Uptown for casual dining. Once I walked into Stonefire I already feel good about it because it has an open kitchen. Haven't tasted their food yet but open kitchens are always a +1 for me
the first thing that caught my eye when I entered the restaurant. I was tempted to snatch the plate and run right back out but my stomach whined for real food instead.
