Review Meron To Go - Thornhill

If you like Mediterranean food you MUST try their food 🥰 Everything here is amazing, I tried Falafel 🧆 platter and shish kebab for the second time and every time they were great👍 Unfortunately each time I called in to order for takeout they were sold out of shawarma. Babaganosh is out of this world too. I will go back soon to try more menu items! 😌 Update: I went back today to try Shawarma and also ordered French fries, it was so good and filling, I loved those crunchy pieces of chicken from the top layer of the shawarma. So delicious 🤤 now I can call myself their regular cause I order at least ones a week and each time I feel amazed from their quality and the taste!! 🙄😁 I should mention that their customer service is great, they are so sweet and polite 😌

One of great shawarma spots. Tried chicken shawarma in laffa. Nice toppings and sauces. Good customer service. Tasted good. Very clean restaurant. Would come back when in area. Keep up great work. Cheers

Great quality restaurant with friendly service! We ordered the falafel on hummus, schnitzel plate and the dark chicken wrap (not pictured) and they were all amazing!! The dark meat chicken was so juicy and tender mixed with the variety of toppings.

Shawarma pita is very good and the pita bread is soft. Noramlly they put a lot of meat and vegetables, this time they put less vegetables.

Had a great experience having lunch here and desert, portion sizes are great value and had a wide selection of options. Would highly recommend stopping if you’re in the neighbourhood! Seating inside, take out options and very clean.

April 2021: a clean restaurant offering some good food. Had the shawarma pita. Great portions of both meat and veggies. The veggies were amazing. The added crunch of the coleslaw is awesome. Excellent taste. The staff is nice and friendly. Would definitely come again.

Food was very tasty and portion-size generous. Was not pleased to see all three staff in the food preparation area eating while we were enjoying our meals. They were feeding themselves with their bare or gloved hands in full view of everyone in the dining room. Yes, staff should eat; let them sit and enjoy their meal at a table, not standing over the food preparation area.

Recently tried a shawarma pita from this place after my friend kept talking about it, and it did not disappoint at all. Great meat, great toppings, great portions. Highly recommend!

This is truly the best middle eastern food around!! We love the shawarma, the schnitzel, rice and fries, the goulash soup, the veggies in pita and falafel sandwich! It has a friendly atmosphere and the staff are so kind they even made me a sandwich tonight when I walked in at closing and everything was already put away!! Very kind indeed! Highly recommended!!

Best Israeli food this side of the Mediterranean! The Shawarma is to die for. Their Schnitzel is sublime, As are their lamb skewers. You really can't go wrong with anything.

Consistently fabulous, fresh and delicious! Highly recommend for dine-in or take-out. Generous portions and plenty of choices for everyone.

Loaded shawarma laffa for less than $12 - can't do better than that around here

One of my favorite places to eat in the city

The best in town......

Staff is not respectful at all. They pretend that all customers knows their assortment perfectly and were rude and impatient, although, at that time there was not busy, no customers. I got what they made and not what I wanted to get. All my evening was spoiled. The shawarma was tasteless; they even did not put onion in it. To treat customers like animals will not bring success to this business. I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO VISIT THIS PLACE!

The spot is a bit out of the way for me, as I'm at Yonge and St. Clair, but the food makes this place worth the drive. The best shawarma in town.

0/10 - owner son - who the restaurant was built for is a total jerk. take your Rolex and your extra $$$ for pita and shove it up you butt. I will never come again! food is mediocre at best - quality has gone down big time since opening - good place if you like your chicken raw.
Tessa Miltchin
The food is always excellent! It's always so fresh! The babaganoush is the best in the city! They are very friendly there! If you are looking for yummy Israeli food, this is the spot!

The only thing I have ever tried at Meron To Go is their schwarma laffa, and they are so delicious that even though I wanted to try something else every time I go back, I couldn't resist saying no to the schwarma laffa! . Not to mention that the portions are large - my single laffa can last me for 2 meals. The service is not the friendliest, but hey, I'm there for the food, and the seating area is comfortable, so no complaints!

Worst laffas... You can break your teeth

Worst experience ever!. We have been fairly regular customers of Meron. The staff is not paricularly friendly for the service industry, but last night we were treated so horribly that we will never ever return there again. I am thoroughly disgusted that the staff could be so rude and inconsiderate!

Best Shawarma in All of THORNHILL! Maybe all of CANADA... This is my go to restaurant, amazing food, amazing prices, service is not bad, but the food makes it all worth it.

Terrible avoid. Just ate from Meron To Go May 15 2014 and I was very disappointed in the food!!
Won't go AGAIN!! The service is also a disservice. I suggest Paramount or Rifca's for better food and better or actual service

I go in to Meron maybe once a week
I always get something different to eat but always leave with the same satisfaction. The food is amazing, the employees are helpful and the prices are great. I recommend getting the beef ribs. They are out of this world. The shewarma melts in your mouth and cooked to perfection

I highly recommend going here if your in the mood for middle eastern

Best authentic middle eastern in the city!. I've lived in thornhill my whole life and have had a chance to try out all the middle eastern spots (and believe me, there's many)- not a single one comes close to meron. i have been a longtime customer since the family owned the bathurst/steeles location and the dufferin/steeles banquet hall. the food and service have consistently stayed top notch through all these years. my favourite is the shawarma (which is turkey, unlike all the other places), but i've tried everything on the menu and can truthfully say it's all top quality, super tasty food. the friendly staff make the dining experience so much more pleasant, too. whenever i have friends visiting i make sure to take them to meron and they all fall in love. really the best place run by the best people and making the best food!

Great food but Horrible Service. I agree with @Thornhilly's review 100%. The people they have working at this place are rude, unhappy, and unprofessional. I do go once in a while because their food is so good but also with not much enthusiasm =./

Meron, please hire new, happy staff and management and change your attitude!! It leaves a bitter taste in your customers' mouths.

Only if you have to. There are several problems with Maron to Go restaurant:

1. Service — workers at Maron to Go need serous training in customer service. The workers give off the impression that Maron is the only show in town. Workers are cold, ungracious and distant. They don't welcome you, and when you start the order with a "hello" they don't respond. The two younger university aged workers are especially bitter to deal with.

2. Food — though the portions are liberal, the quality of the food needs to be taken up a notch or two. The pita bread is usually not fresh; rather, grilled for a few moments to soften and heat it up. Also, the hummus has a 'factory made' taste.

Final words — Maron, people will pay for quality and service. If you are deficient in these two areas then business will suffer. It's that simple. Drastically improve your service by getting rid of your disgruntled workers and replace them with a fresh-faced friendly crew. Ya, you will always get trickles of customers here and there, but if you want to bring the crowds then you need to recognize that you are in the service industry. In the meantime, when I don't feel like sushi, pizza, or bagels, I'll come to Maron; but not with enthusiasm.

Horrible chicken shawarma. No flavour at all. I wouldnt serve it to my dog.

Simply excellent - reminds me of the early days of the old Meron on Bathurst.

I go to Meron To Go every Tuesday. In fact my family calls it "Meron Tuesday". The food is fantastic, great portions and very affordable. Love it!

One of the best sandwiches. I'd say this place serves up one of the best shawarma sandwiches i've ever had.. they fill up the pita until they're sizes of softballs! they're gigantic! they put a lot of meat on there.. (if you order skewers they grill it for you from raw so that it's fresh).. its not going to be evenly spread out though.. all my slaw was on the top so by the time i was midway to finished eating, i was just eating meat in a pita.. It was still good though...(wished i had more slaw!).

they also had a decent selection of dips (babganoush, hummus, etc) .. a lot of eggplant ones that i've seen (which i love since i'm a sucker for eggplant anything).

prices were decent i guess...sandwiches range from 6-8 bucks? they have platters or plates available too for about 8 bucks.. i got a side of fries for 3.50 and a plate of babaganoush for 4.. (for a small) which was still a pretty decent sized plate.

Staff/service was okay...they're definitely not the friendliest folks..but whatever.. for me if the food is good then that's all that matters... as long as i don't have to tip them :) They'd probably get a 4/10 for service.. they're not rude or anything..but just seem so unhappy to be there.. lighten up a bit will ya?! you serve good food and good service will only help your business!!

Their new location on Disera just north of the Promenade carries on the tradition from their old store on Bathurst. Meron To Go has been a Thornhill classic for many a year. Their new location on Disera just north of the Promenade carries on the tradition from their old store on Bathurst. Meron to Go features Middle Eastern Cuisine classics like Shwarma and lots of assorted dips and kebabs. The popular way to eat at Meron to Go is to order a few dips to share, like their hummus and baba ghanoush, in addition to the other choices that they offer, and then to dive into one of the shwarmas. The chicken schwarma is delicious, served in a pita and jammed so big that its an adventure trying to take bites out of it! The best thing about Meron is that everything is cooked to order, so you always get freshly cooked food. It is definitely worth the extra wait time! Classic Israeli food and they don't skimp on portions or quality. Friendly staff despite a typical Israeli demeanor with helpful suggestions should you need any.
