Review Baton Rouge Grillhouse & Bar - Thornhill

Ordered a rib steak and seafood linguine. The linguine tasted good and had big scallops. However, the steak was horrible. It was the most bland steak I have ever ate. I thought the chef forgot to put salt on the steak but the waitress told me their steaks are all lightly salted. I had to ask for salt and pepper and put quite a lot of salt on it to have at least some flavour. If you want a good steak just go to the Keg. Priced the same and tastes 10 folds better.

Great atmosphere, and good food. The steak was made the way I asked (medium-well), and the veggies were so soft and tasty. I usually love mashed potatoes but this one had a sour taste which I wasn’t fond of. More items/options on the menu would be great. My senior director from California and I came here for lunch and there wasn’t much options in the menu to choose from.

I love the ambience here. Baton Rouge Steakhouse reminds me of Fleming’s Steakhouse. I ordered the Thai steak salad and it was sooo good. I actually think it’s better than Houston’s Thai steak salad. My friend ordered the prime rib sandwich and enjoyed every bite. Our server was friendly and attentive.

Nice environment, lots of booths sections, servers were nice and kind. Ordered 12 oz New York Striploin beef steak and Caesar salad, it was delicious and nicely seasoned. Overall 4 stars!!!

Best ribs! We went for diner on a Saturday night and it was great. The waitress recommended some cocktails and they were really good. The food was delicious as well. Nothing was a miss. Service was impecable.

Haven’t been here in more than 2 years. A new menu but the ribs and the shoestring fries are still great. Service was good and it wasn’t too busy which was nice.

Tim, awesome bartender, made some fantastic old fashioned and Manhattans with bearface eye for me. I had dinner here every night while staying at the Hilton nearby. Never had that rye before and it was pretty tasty. Megan, I training was quite nice and learned what limonchello was. At the end of a successful job I was able to have a prime rib that was seasoned well and the horseradish enchanted well tasting quite fresh. Shout out to the other bartender christene who served me on Thursday. Limonchello after the prime rib was a delight.

Baton Rouge is always good.. This time especially so.. They went back to offering multiple size cuts of the Prime rib . This was a very Good idea. of course my wife and I Ordered the largest cuts :) They were delicious And perfectly cooked.. We went at lunch so we Could be sure to get rare pieces . The Server was great. Love the Ambience. It's not cheap, but the price of food has gone up everywhere and that has to affect their market.

Quiet, more food than you can eat. Best ribs I've had in Ontario and the wait staff / servers are very personable. Great place.

The meal was fantastic! Service was great, portion sizes were just right and the whole meal was so tasty! A really pleasant evening out with friends.

Made a reservation for my wife's birthday and arrived only to be seated right away. Melody our server was very attentive and checked to make sure we enjoyed our meal from start to finish. The reason for booking Baton Rouge was the last visit to the Keg across the street had some issues. Although I missed the twice baked potatoe we certainly were all very happy with our visit to Baton Rouge. The steaks were done perfectly ( the Keg trouble) and service was great . The desserts were fantastic which basically summed up the whole experience. Thank you Baton Rouge ! We will certainly see you again and recommend this great steakhouse to friends and family !

A bit disappointing with the 14 oz Prime Rib. Too salty I must say. I certainly will not come back again to this franchise again to risk losing kidney function. That was my 2nd visit to this steakhouse. I went for pork ribs last time and it was still not a satisfying meal.

Very good chicken and ribs. The smoked margarita was amazing but overpriced for its size.

Quite disappointed when we visited April 1, 2017. Two things stood out for us. Firstly the garden salad advertises sliced egg as an ingredient. Unfortunately they don't say that 1 egg is used for the entire evenings salads. I had to to go looking for traces of egg. Not really a big deal however don't advertise if you have no intention of including the ingredient. Secondly and this is the big one, the full rack of ribs was a complete waste. I have been here before and could not believe how small the ribs were. In the past they were huge and you couldn't eat them all. Maybe the supply chain has found it hard to obtain good pork ribs but this example was not worth the effort. I would really think twice before going back again. I get better ribs in my own kitchen and am sad to say at a fraction of the cost.

Service is always terrific and my family is really happy with the food.

Nothing special, everything no taste, you have make your own sauce. I will go hotpot next time. If I spend same money, I can get way better food.

Brutal. Brutal brutal brutal. Service was by far one of the worst experiences I have ever had at this chain. Daniel basically ignored us the entire night, we had to ask for someone to come clear our table after 20 minutes of empty plates sitting on our table and one member or our party's order was wrong. It was clear to me he was in over his head. To be honest for the price point, East Beaver Creek is across the street with other options for dinner. I suggest you go elsewhere

Really enjoyed the food and the service but there were a few hiccups.
We each ordered a full rack of ribs which were on special for 27$. We all enjoyed the flavour but the ribs were a bit overdone.
One thing that was great was the suggestion of baked French fries rather than fried. This allowed my friend who is gluten sensitive have the fries without worrying of cross contamination. These were tasty and crisp.
The wine list was smaller than before. This was disappointing but we did get a nice glass of Shiraz.
We also frères some specialty coffee which wasps enjoyable.

Overall I would recommend this place.

2017/12/29
As the year draws to an end, it was time for SWMBO and I to celebrate some successes. We discussed a few options and chose Bâton Rouge, not too far away from us. We made reservations, because we didn’t know how busy it would be on a Friday evening just before New Years. When we arrived, the restaurant was about half full, and we were promptly seated.

Unfortunately we were seated near a large group with a whole bunch of little kids. Maybe 8 to 10 adults, and at least a dozen kids, ranging in age from 1 to 10. Some of the kids were well behaved, but a few were shouting, and a couple of the adults were shouting at the kids about their shouting. There were unattended little kids standing on chairs, and climbing on railings. Turns out they were there to celebrate a birthday for one of the boys. From our perspective it would have been better for them to go to place like Chuck E. Cheeses. They really were an unfortunate distraction.

Now for our meal. We decided to go with one of their fixed price specials. There were about eight choices, which included salad, main course, and dessert.

We both started with a Caesar Salad. The salad came very quickly after we placed our order. The dressing was a bit lighter, less cheesy, and a touch sweeter than other comparable salads. It wasn’t bad, but it was different.

For our main course we both picked the Top Sirloin Steak and Lobster Tail. SWMBO likes her steak medium-well (just a touch of pink), and I’m a medium steak person. It looks like Baton Rouge uses the thickness approach to cook steaks, where they cook the steaks the same amount of time, but a thicker steak will be less cooked in the middle. SWMBO’s steak was thinner than mine, and therefore had a warmer middle. Regardless of how they do it, they got it right. Both our steaks had a nice, light top and bottom crust, with some seasoning that added flavour to each bite. They also provided a small serving of gravy for the steak that was pretty decent.

The lobster tail (about 5 to 6 ounces) was served with the meat sitting atop the opened tail, still attached at the tail end, served with a small pot of melted butter. The tail was tender and flavourful.

Our final course was the Chef’s Choice, which our server called a truffle cake with chocolate . It felt and tasted like like mousse. Regardless, it was a decadent ant tasty way to finish the meal.

Now if only we hadn’t been distracted by that loud group, it would have been an excellent dining experience.
I normally avoid chains but, in town late so stopped next to my hotel. Mushrooms stuffed with lobster was great and General Tao chicken salad was also good. A good experience and good food.

My dish was decent. The steak was cooked the way I wanted it but the sides were burnt. The side vegetables were not cooked enough. The restaurant itself was beautiful. It's a shame they had a rude hostess greeting people at the door. She had a condescending demeanor when she spoke to my family and I. I don't expect to be treated in a special way but being treated rudely is not what I would expect from baton rouge either.

The food and service is always very consistent here which is a huge plus. I love their steak salad and seafood platter.. yumm!! Ribs are always a great option too!!!

Plus: ribs were decent, food came very quickly, decent decor.
Minus: side coleslaw had very little flavour while baked beans were borderline hard. Not once did the server check in on the meal despite not being busy.

Average experience but based on the meal and service, I would have expected to pay half the price.
It was surprisingly busy, lots of large tables, lots of bday celebrations going on.

It was a neat mixed crowd, tables of families with children, tables of men doing boys night, tables of 20-30-40 something's, seniors.

Its located in a plaza full of restaurants. Its on a side of the building with limited parking near the Dior, but don't fret, there about 1000 spaces at the rear of the building. I, being a master at the art of parking and finding spaces, (laziness?) I managed to score a space across from the door. Already love that place. :)

I like how the outside looks, dark wood and brass.

There's seating at the door for those who come too early and have to wait for guests

I've been to this restaurant before, just to pick up take out at the bar, so I've never seen the seating place before. Its nice, a mixture of tables and booths. Tables were big and a bit squished. Not the most comfy when you are wedged in.

Decor, more dark and brass. Its nice, feels like a high end pub.

Wait staff, nice. Very efficient. Attentive despite all the customers. Its a well piled machine. Kudos.

Food, yum. Yum yum. I got the goat cheese steak with baked potatoes and veg. It was beautifully done. Steak was evenly cooked, soft, easy to cut. Baked potato well done as well, evenly cooked, not overdone, or feeling like its been sitting in a heater for hours.

Others got ribs and chicken. They loved it. I stole a few fries, thin and crispy. Yum!

Cost, wish it was less expensive but, the good is great. Quality ingredients. Worth the price!

Would come again.

How are they still open?. Atmosphere: terrible! Lamps were ripped and broken looking. Our booth seat had ducktap covering part of it. A bunch of the decor didn't match.
Service: Our waitress was a bit of a ditz. After we ordered two of us switched seats and she came back to tell us that we would get each others food because of this (we figured the kitchen would be bringing out - but nope - it was her!). She also didn't refill drinks in good time and she was really awkward.
Food: Lobster was super dry, butter didn't taste like garlic butter at all more just like oil, fries were not fresh.

Impresssed. Where did these guys come from? Went to the Highway 7 location and the food was good and service prompt, a little too prompt. Let me explain they sat us, took our orders and food came fast and by the way the waitresses are sweet. This is a classy restaurant. So of course we noticed the rocking waitresses and decided to order some alcohol and stay longer so let's not be too fast now and rush us out of here. I did not taste the ribs but supposedly they were very good. I can say the same thing about my steak. Flavourful. And those waitresses wow . We will be back for sure.

Food: 2 star. order Sirloin steak I asked for medium rare and I got cook steak. Flavour was there.
My friend order prime rib which was super moist inside and the flavour of the beef was excellent.
Service: 2 star. Afternoon lunch at 2:30pm practically nobody in the restaurant. Waiter did not refill water or asked us if we want anything else to drink.
Decor: 3 star. Booth was somewhat comfortable.
Price. 3 star. Pricey.

Thornhill Baton Rouge. Dined at BR Thornhill April 11 2014. Ribs were very good. Prime Rib ok. Am unimpressed by the unfriendly waiters. Even though the food is good, will be spending our dollars elsewhere in future as we felt our presence was an imposition. Too bad

Woodbrige Baton rouge-March 1. I'd like to start by saying that I have always enjoyed dining at this particular location, friendly staff and good food! However, lately I'm not quite sure what is happening with this location, the service is mediocre most of the staff are very young and immature! I've always thought of Baton rouge as a nice place to take the family for dinner but it has changed so drastically I don't know anymore whom they are trying to cater to anymore but its definitely no longer family oriented.
I find that the staff (females) are inappropriately dressed with either attire that is extremely tight or extremety short and revealing, I feel very uncomfortable taking my family there for dinner as I have younger children. You need to have your staff dressed more professionally and possibly hire more mature individuals..Baton rouge is not either Moxies or Earls!! This sentiment is shared by many of my friends who were also good customers of this location.

i regret to say we will not be returning there.

A lot of young girls huddled aroung each other gossiping instead of paying atterntion to what they should be "Customers" waiting to be seated.

Just had a horrible dinner with the family at Baton Rouge.
Right from the beginning, the hostess' seated our party of six at stable for four.
Even though we has a reservation a day ago. Then, they didn't want to accommodate our large party. I had to ask for a manager. Magically a table appeared. Service was poor, the place was 20% full? I guess I'll be going to the Keg next time. We were very polite about it all but it seemed like we were asking for too much. Haven't experienced this kind of rudeness at a chain restaurant ever! Immature hostess' whispering about the trouble.
Six at a table for four even though we had a reservation 2 days old. Sad

2 strikes you're out. I have tried this place 2 times both times a complete disaster
First time last summer almost empty but the waiter would disappear for long periods of time no customer. Service food ok but no one inquired as to how or mal was never offered refills slow slow service
Today I took my staff out almost empty waiter was very good but the food was cold unappetizing and. The. Prices through the roof no. Bread we all were disappointed and will never darken the door again Beware not worth it

Excellent meal at the Baton in Thornhill. I have eaten at the Baton restaurant on Front Street and found the food mediocre and overpriced; the Baton in Thornhill is far superior. In addition, the ambiance is better than the downtown location (the photos don't do it justice). We started with the Mississippi Delta Calamari, the pieces of squid where cut very large but surprisingly they were tender, not chewy. The Louisiana Spinach dip is the best in the city; creamy and delicious! The portions for both were large enough for sharing. I had steak that was expertly seasoned and tender. My daughter had pasta primavera; Alfredo sauces can be bland when prepared incorrectly, this one is wonderful. The quality of the food is as good as the Keg; but at the Baton they offer a greater variety at a more reasonable price. It was busy on a Saturday night so I suggest making a reservation.

For Vday, was Perfect. 2 weeks ago, a girl in one of my classes made a reservation for Baton Rouge. That got me to thinking, "excellent place to take my girlfriend out for Valentine's." It was.

I had only ever been to one other Baton Rouge and that was the Front Street location. While the food that night was great, it wasn't stellar.

That all changed last night as we were seated and treated to laughs from our server (Tim I think his name was? He half hiccuped when he said his name). After explaining to my girlfriend the different cuts of beef and how meat is cooked, our server returned and told her the same stuff I did; knowledgable staff is always a plus.

I got my usual back ribs, my girlfriend got a prime rib steak. The ribs were MILES better than my last visit to BR, as well were the beans. The fries are also a little bit bigger than they were, however the spicy salt on them was brilliant and I appreciated the (slightly) larger size. The steak was beautifully medium-rare and even though she likes medium and I like medium-well, it was thoroughly enjoyed by her and myself (when she couldn't finish it).

It was the brilliant capper to a long, stressful, but enjoyable Valentine's day. This BR location is a winner indeed.

This is embarrassing on the restaurant part. We've been waiting for a reserved table for over an hour!!! This is terrible.

The Best Ribs. If you love ribs, you have to try them at Baton Rouge. The portions are big, the prices are good and the service is excellent.

Good restaurant. A bit pricey but food is tasty, portions are good, service is good and it has a comfortable atmosphere.

I just got ribs with the side of mashed potatoes. Apparently the steak is really good too! They also had some Christmas set meal special but I didn't find it that spectacular and just getting ribs was cheaper : P Here's pictures of other people's food~ Maybe some of the 'steak' is actually sirloin...or something else though, I have no idea because I didn't ask what they were > < .
