Review Urban Masala Grill & Restaurant - Surrey

The prices were good on the menu, the waiter was nice, he seemed new. We were lured in by the 2 slices of pizza, and a drink special. The pizza was stale, and old. It was not fresh. It was supposed to be chicken. It's really just a bar.

One of the worst places to get Indian food. The food was tasteless and cold and any of the vegetable dishes were left raw. The owner claimed that that’s how the vegetable were meant to be cooked but it was definitely just pure laziness!

Food is ok and staff are nice and friendly, I just didn't appreciate that two guys started swearing at each other aggressively while we were sitting and the owner did not do anything. They basically stopped the music and were all kinda involved in the fight as other guests were having dinner. Odd!

Horrible place, owner, service, and her crackhead 60 year old nephew is always there with his crackhead biker friends doing criminal activities on the low. Food is straight garbage its Fiji hindustanis who run this not even real Indians (supposed to be an Indian restaurant). Owners are apparently Muslim but serve liquor.

Eat before you come!. Ive had bad pub food before. And bad drive thru food, of course bad greasy burgers from some big yankee chain, but urban Marsala goes below these bottomfeeder restaurants to set a new low for"you want me to pay for this frozen garbage. Seven Eleven has better food and value. Get the point? Sorry guys

The food was ok but the salad was gross, the green veggies changed colour and the onions was dry. I still feel yuk, I just went there a year ago and I really liked their fish pakora, But this time worst experience ever.

I went out to this place with my friends. They are the real defination to Racist. No good food and even if we talk about there customer services that thing comes in the worst. Owner even abuse to you when you does the price comparision and in the worst case that old owner tells you to get out if they proven wrong. If you goin do bring some ear buds because that old guy sucks in everything and for students here be ready, he will tell you that he is here for the last 45 year and we are zero in front of him.Never recommended!!

If you don't have enough regrets in your life, then this is the place to go for. You will not like a thing in this restaurant. Ordered 4 different items from menu and 4 of them, 4 of them! tasted poorly. Their appearance were way disgusting. 3 of the 4 for sure were not fresh at all.

Worst service!. I took my family there for dinner on 5 occasions and I must say the service is terrible!<br/>Their food is blunt and over priced for the portions!<br/>Its not a kid friendly restaurant... no special order requested is acknowledged and if you complain the owner wont refund or apologize.<br/><br/>I do not recommend this place!

Jimmy munda. I can't comment on the old management, staff,and food,but uncle and aunty ji are back. They have always treated me and who ever I'm with ,with luv and respect. The food is always top notch,great drink prices and above all ,the way they make me and my friends feel at home is why urban is numero uno in my books ! PS kwantlen ,great pizza ,and the gulberg don't compare.:-) respectfully :-) this is my testament and I'm sticking to it

Bad food never tasted so awfull.... Some people are just meant for something else. I hope the owners find what that is soon, cause making food is not their forte. I threw away half the food after I almost threw up....karahi chicken is not boneless and chicken seems to had died of old age. Other meats were even worse. If you have spare money, give it in charity. But don't waste it on bad food.

Poor Servicing, false advertising, Rude Cashier and Bad Food. Do not believe the price advertised on the notice boards outside the restaurant. The prices are almost double when you try to buy the food.

Upset. I came from Vancouver last week to eat Charga chicken we were 3 families. I always come here for Charga best in Town.When we ordered 4 charga the waitresses said she will come back she went in kitchen came back and said we cant cook it its not in our menu.I told her to call Manager or Owner and came a man by the name Ali and he said he cant and was very Rude didn't know what customer service is and how to take care of customers.We stood up and went to Gulberg ordered charga and had good time. We always use to come and there was a lady Manager wearing hijab she took care of all our needs and she knew what is the value of customers.I will never come here again.Ali should have some training in Customer Service.Thanks

Urban masala. I went to Urban on mothers day with my family.Very upset nothing special just like a normal day.The table was very dirty and the waitress let us sit without cleaning.Customer service nowdays is pathetic.I am a regular customer.The waitresses are on the cell phone most of the time instead of taking care of your needs.Best service of Urban was when there was a lady by the name Kushi or Kushnar she knew what customer service was and also the restaurant was very clean.My opinion these days the people working there don't know what they doing .The management looks lost. I would not go again unless there is some changes. Sorry this is the fact. Please Improve so I can come back with my family and friends.

Hi there I went urban masala on Mother's Day and I took lunch buffet there was no special item according to the occasion but the service was really good that was my first experience over there and I feel so comfortable I promise the waitress I will come again if u will be there on that day she told me next time you guys come and order from the menu we will not disappoint you so I will go there on Sunday again absolutely awesome work dear sorry I forgot your name but u guys have such a sweet waitress fab work baby

Worst service

The buffet was just installed and everything tasted delicious and fresh.. butter chicken.. goat curry.. saag paneer.. chicken karahi.. samosas..I really liked it.. They even had melon, guavas and oranges as fruits..

Bad service i ever seen in my life very bad food fully waste of time, energy and money doesn't like it

Great. Went to the restaurant on Friday to try to see the new owners believe me I was very happy with the service and the food was delicious. I will go there again. To all try Urban u will love it.

Went there with my family and I must say I was very impressed. I love food and frequent many restaurants throughout the lower mainland trying and tasting all cuisines. The buffet had a huge variety and the food was great. The service was a little slow but the restaurant was at capacity so understandable. They have the best naan I have ever had, bar none. If your gojg to go here for one reason only it should be for the naan. They have this pink drink which was terrific, not sure what it was called. Highly recommended. Will definitely visit back. Much better than some of the other larger pakistan restaurants.

This is a really good place, never expected this kind of food and service. This is my new favorite now on. I tried their chicken wings, oh my goodness, they were to die for. The wings were crispy and smothered with my favorite bbq sauce. I will recommend this restaurant to my friends and families.

Bad food, bad service, cheap owners. Decided to check out this restaurant after being taken over by new owners. Went there for my wife's birthday dinner and was immensely disappointed. Most of the buffet trays were empty, the naan came 30 minutes after ordering and was burnt. The waitress was dressed in very tight, unappropriate attire for an Islamic affiliated restaurant, and kept on asking us if we needed anything while we were eating whatever was available. Since there was no variety nor quantity available in the buffet, we decided to order from the menu. We waited for 45 minutes before giving up and walking out after paying for the dismal buffet. The staff are rude and the atmosphere is not pleasant. The owner(s) try too hard to please after the customers complain, but by then it is too late. Wouldn't recommend anybody to go to this restaurant as it is a total waste of time and money. Bad experience!!

Poor service! Buffet was average no grill item in buffet too pricey $15 per person and no appetizer or lavish food just like any other regular menu for the type of menu they have. The girl (manager) was not friendly plus was yelling at the waitresses for not cleaning the glass etc infront of customers. Naan bread had no salt in it and chicken keema an item frm the buffet was too salty. Never going there again and not recommending anyone. Me and my husband are never going again. I rate this Restaurant 1 out of 10

Really bad food. We went for dinner on friday night.since its now own by new owners we decided to try the place.what can i say what a shame to indian and pakistani food not even close..my kids who loves butter chicken could not even finish their food.believe me do not and i mean do not waste your money.if you want good food in surrey area.try gulberg on fraser hwy..much better..

Urban masala has good food. I just wanted to send a messege regards to the person who wrote a reveiw prior to this messege. So they charged you 2 bucks!!!!!! wake up !!!!!!!! I remember the owners of urban masala grill who had previously owned Mehfil India all day buffet.They use to donate food to the poor every night to poor people and recovery people.God has blessed them.The only reason you are upset is because they charged you 2 bucks!!!!!!! lol!!!!! I dont think the owner needs your two dollars.And that is not the only business they own.They are practicaly multty millionaire people.Its people like you who go to buffets, load up your plate, pick and choose the items best to your taste buds, and leave the rest for garbage. Shame on you.It was your fault. That food could go to poor people or someone in need of food,and you are crying about your 2 bucks, And you are proud of advertising how you waisted and left food on your table for the waitress to pick up,You want to go to people and tell them not to go there.Well, let me tell you something.Urban masala grill is one of my favorite spots,they have the best food,service,and drinks.Its the place to be. Dont listen to dumbs who complain how they only wanted to go and spend 15 dollars,but ended up spending 17, lol. go to the salvation army if you are broke!!!!!! overall awsome restaurant,Try it out guys.

HORRIBLE SERVICE, OKAY FOOD. IF YOU WANT GOOD SERVICE, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. I am a huge lover of butter chicken and I was looking for a place closeby since I go to Kwantlen. I read reviews on here and other websites and was pleasantly surprised by the good ratings and decided to give it a try. The buffet was just opened so instead of spending only $15 for two people like originally planned, my sister and I decided to both go for the buffet. We received pretty okay service throughout and they continually cleared our plates with no problems, although we kept receiving looks and whispers as we headed to the buffet, noone said anything about any left over food on the plates. The last plate I wasn't finished with and she asked me if she could clear it I said no, she cleared it anyways and I went along with it because she already took it. By the end of our meal, she comes over with it all packed up and says we're going to have to charge you for this and the two other plates - WTF, no mention of this AT ALL before clearing our plates. She said it's clearly written at the buffet, BUT when someones hungry whose going to notice the sign shoved in the corner? You should definitely tell people BEFORE you clear plates you are going to charge. Waitresses usually give clear warning of extra charges before they clear the plates giving the customer the chance to finish it. All I received back were snippy comments back saying its rude in their culture to tell the customer their going to be charged before they take the plate. IT'S OBVIOUSLY MUCH WORST TO TELL THE CUSTOMER AT THE END, "OH BY THE WAY - WE'RE CHARGING YOU FOR THOSE PLATES WE CLEARED" I'm not upset for being charged extra it was only $2, I'm really upset at how this situation was handled. If she was nice and sincere and had a good attitude about it, I would've just been like okay, I understand. But the way this situation was handled and her attitude towards me arguing with me for a good two minutes over the extra charge - WAY TO LOSE A POTENTIAL REPEAT CUSTOMER OVER A $2 CHARGE. I would've probably visited every week when I'm at school, that's $780/year lost for you PLUS more because also now I'm going to tell ALL of my friends not to go here, INCLUDING people on this website. Learn how to provide some customer service. It's not worth it to lose a potential repeat customer over a LARGE dispute over a $2 charge.

Went there a year ago biryani was gross.

Lunch buffet was good. I found the food to be fairly light, as far as indian food goes (ie. not too creamy/heavy). Decent selection of Indian cuisine and the restaurant is nicely decorated. Very friendly and prompt service. Would recommend to others.

Rip off - False Advertising. We went in to buy samosas for lunch. We went in and asked the price and were told 2 for $1. As we left we noticed the sign stating 3 for $1. We went inside to ask and they said that the price changed this past week. They should have honoured their advertised price. The samosas were small and lacking in ingredients. Will not go back ever and will NOT recommend.

The food kicks ass..... I went to umg last night with about 9 people.The food,service,atmosphere, was awsome. The food...."oh" sooooooo good.I am really impressed. The food had so much flavour,just the right amount of spice.And most of all the prices are incredible.I would vote this the best restaurant in surrey bc right now.And the owners did a good job from changing it from a gangster bar to a cool,calm,family environment.Hats off to the managment.

Good appys. Went here a couple tiimes when the playoffs were still on with a big group of guys so I think we must have gone through their whole list of appys. And they were great. The only real food I tried was the biriyani and lamb saag. Both good. <br/><br/>But stick to the indian food avoid the western food.

...really good naan, but I didn't really taste the tandoori chicken.

The main dishes were full of flavour, although a bit runny. I do prefer too runny to having too much cream in my dishes though, so this was not necessarily a bad thing.
