Review Salty's Fish And Chips - Surrey

Food was delicious. Went here a couple of times this month and had similar experiences. Seating area is a bit small and it does get busy fast. But overall I liked it. Food comes out within 15 minutes of placing the order. The gentlemen that served us was super nice. And there is ame parking.

So, I would highly recommend avoiding this place. My wife and I went in with our infant Son. Off the bat, neither bathroom had an infant change table, so my wife had to change his diaper on the bathroom floor. Next up, the drinks they served were completely flat, and kind of gross. I had diet, so it tasted even weirder, but even my wife’s 7-up tastes funky. Next, was the food itself. Now, I may be biased, as the Cloverdale Saltys is amazing! But, even so, I expected way better. The dinner buns we ordered were stale. The waiter had to check the butter packets he pulled out from the fridge in front of us. It looked like he was looking for an expiry date. The fries were way too salty, to the point where my fingers were coated in the stuff. The fish itself tasted funny. It wasn’t even close to fresh and very dense towards the centre, like they use frozen fish sticks instead of fillets. Finally, my wife found a hair in her fries! It looked like it was cooked hair. The waiter said it was probably from the bag the potatoes came in. After discussing it with him, all he offered was $3 off! Do NOT go here to eat. If I could score this place lower, I would.

This place is very friendly, the vibe and the owners are very nice. The batter and the fish are amazing. Highly recommend this place if you wanna stop for a snack worth the price!!!!!’

We had take out and ordered the family meal that feeds 3-4 people. We also ordered 2 orders of the shrimp. The fish was pretty good. Fries seemed really fresh. The homemade tarter sauce tasted like mayo. The shrimp was really good. It would of been nice if we actually got the second order of shrimp! They only put one in the bag.

I eat there two times, the halibut was tasty. But I didn't like the plastic made glass that had stains all around. I never touched my drink. Because it's hard to disinfect the plastic made dishes, in my second visit I ordered my drink in a can. Then I request a straw, the waiter brought a straw without out any cover or wrap. Because he touched the straw I didn't use it. The other thing it will be better if we have a view to see inside the kitchen and know how our foods are being cooked. To me the taste of the dishes are important but the most important thing is hygiene. Please take action as soon as possible about hygiene so I can come again and taste the halibut. Thank you

A staff change since we were there last time. Friendly and efficient. Very plain and bare bones restaurant. Seats aren't very comfortable. Good fish & chips, not greasy and nice thick cod pieces. Batter not too thick. Prices are pretty standard for fish and chips.

Went here for lunch. First time and the gentleman was super nice and we ordered the cod and chips and the country fried chicken. The cod was super delicious, melt in your mouth. The gentleman server was tentative and awesome! Will come again!

The batter is light but the fish was flavourless. Coleslaw was good and I don't normally like Coleslaw at these places. Fries are good too but the tartar sauce is flavourless. Service was good but the tables are sticky. Over all an ok experience but won't be rushing to go back. Apparently on Tuesday they do an all you can eat deal.

Nice local shop for fish and chips. Decent size portions and priced accordingly. New offering is country style fried chicken. Pretty good considering their specialty is fish and chips<br/>

The food was extremely mediocre, it's not exactly a bad spot but if you want to sit in it's not a good place, but for take out you need to make sure that your order is correct, and sometimes the chip are green and that concerns me

Best fish and chips around! Tried some other places in surrey but none came even close to comparing to the quality of both food and service at saltys fish and chips.

I like this place, it's my favourite fish and chips place in Surrey. But it's still really good, the service is nice and their really inviting. And go on Tuesday it's all you can eat!

Personally, if you like deep fried fish then go to Salty's. I'm not one to skimp out on fish and chips, if I'm going to eat something deep fried then do it right. Their fish has a lot of batter, and sometimes that's just what I'm in the mood for. Since it is a chain I have found any Salty's I've gone to is the same for quality of food. Basically what I'm saying is don't come here if you're looking for lightly battered fish!

My visit here was not planned.  I was in the area, stuck running errands and got hungry.  Fish and chips sounded good, so I popped in.  I didn't realize that this was a local chain until I sat down and have ont tried any of their other locations.<br/>As far as Fish and Chips go, this was alright.  <br/><br/>I wouldn't be making a screaming recommendations, but if I was stuck here again, I might just pop back in.

Not Good. Gave this place a second try and still disappointed. The food is terrible and service is horrible. Our food took forever too come out, when it did the fries were soggy and fish over cooked. Unacceptable considering there were only 2 customers there, plus the place was really cold so we had to keep our coats on the whole time. Will not go back, there are better fish n chip places in Surrey.

Great Service. Fabulous Food. We've tried a few Fish & Chips places locally and the one we use to go to has terrible hours (they close at like 7), so we gave Salty's a try for the first time and really enjoyed the food, so much so, that we've been back many times. We've always done take out so I can't speak for the in dining service, but the people there have always been friendly and nice. On one occasion they forgot an item in our take-out and the next time we ordered they more than made up for it. I would definitely recommend the cod & chips as well as the panko shrimp (my favorite). The fries aren't the best in the world, but have it with gravy if you prefer and a side of cole slaw and there is more than enough to feed a small army.

Went there with my 13 yo son and 10 yo daughter for the all you can eat Tuesday. Server girl looked really annoyed to see us come in an hour before closing. Was chatting with 2 girls her age seated from another table ( obviously people she knew) took 8 minutes to even give us the menu so I right away said will have the all u can eat. And for the price they charge the drinks were not included. When my son and I finished our first order and asked for some more, she gave us this irritated look and ACTUALLY SAID WE WILL BE CHARGED FOR LEFT OVERS!!!! WTF!!! It's like telling people coming into a store they will prosecuted for shoplifting!! I was so angry I ate all my fish and even though I was so full I ordered another one just to piss her off and lo and behold! She gives the order to to kitchen and this guy who im assuming is the cook comes out by the door and started checking us out. The fish I ordered came and it was so overcooked the batter was almost chocolate brown and dry like eating paper. I was afraid to think what he did to the fish BEFORE he cooked it. And he went out the kitchen 3 times watching us maybe hoping to catch me throwing out or hiding the fish. Did not leave any tip. Never coming back and all my friends and families know this story as well. C Lovers at Langley is waaaay better, food and service and for a lesser price, the drinks are included. Too bad.

Bad. Food was Good. Service was terrible three tables in the restaurant and took forever to get a drink.

I always go by first impression so when I saw there was a fish n chips place opening up near my house I was pretty excited and had to try it. I went with my husband and ordered the cod and chips. I took a bite into my fries and felt they were cold on the inside. I immediately told the server. She gave me an odd took and said, "okay, I'll let the cook know and grab you a batch of new fries", besides the look, she gave the answer that I expected. But when she brought my plate back, she said, "umm, these are how our fries are supposed to be cooked so if you still have a problem with them, you can go talk to the cook yourself!". I was stunned at what she said but I am not the kind of person to cause a scene. So I thought whatever, I'll just leave the cold fries on my plate and just eat my cod (cod was cooked fine). The server came back about 10 mins later, I am clearly still chewing my fish (but all the fries were still on my plate as I was not going to eat it) and the rude server picks up my plate!!! She didn't even ask if I was done! Just grabbed it off the table. That was the final straw for me. I told my husband not to leave a tip (but I think he still did) and I've never been back since it opened.

Food is ok. Asked for curried gravy and home made tartar sauce with order. Didn't get the tartar sauce and was given regular gravy. Horrible attention to detail at this location.

Salty’s had a proper little Styrofoam bowl for its coleslaw with a proper little cardboard box for its fries...
