Review Pho Hung Restaurant - Surrey

I've been a regular in this restaurant for a long time. My favorite menu is house special. This is really delicious. But the food seems to have changed today. Disappointing. The amount is less than before, and the taste of the soup is bland. The soup doesn't taste as good as before. Noddles are also attached to each other. If this problem doesn't improve, I don't think it's going to come to this restaurant well.

I like their food, but I don’t think it’s fair not to inform customers that the price has increased. The menu did not reflect the increase ($1 increase on each item in the menu), and when I asked, the person told me that they just didn’t change it. My husband asked whether they could make the house special spicy, they said yes, but we were not told that there would be an $1.95 extra charge. I understand that everything has increased during the Covid time, and would love to support local business. The amount is small but I do feel that it would be good to just have us informed regarding the price increase even verbally. Or a simple line on the menu would be nice.

Food was good. The biggest issue came from the bill as the Menu on site and also on the website shows $15.65 for house special large, and I asked for it to be made spicy. But when I got the bill for payment it shows $16.65 for the special and also got added special charge for adding spice of almost $2 ($1.95). None was advised when I asked for the meal. So the bill came as a surprise. I understand stand things are more expensive, at the very least let the customer know the price change if there are any. Felt very dishonest with how they handle the inflation.

my wife went for a take out today. It was 60+total(3 noodles and 1 sub) at first she paid 5 dollars for tips for takeout order .and the waiter asked 15% Tips for takeout. Understand food is getting expensive. But why ask 15 %tips minimum for takeout ?

Amazing service! I got the house special pho and it came out very quickly and was nice and hot for a cold day 🙂 The lady was so sweet and friendly which made the experience even better. Thanks for a great lunch!! ❤️❤️

Just ordered house special soup to go off Uber eats. My food had hair in the soup. Cleanliness and hygiene very important for me so because of this will not go back.

* EDIT Carol, the owner, contacted us and dealt with the situation very appropriately. Visitng surrey and placed a pick up order. Got back to our hotel and firstly nothing was labeled in the bag. My husband eats meat and got the brisket pho, I'm vegetarian so ordered the vegetable, plant based pho.. I wasn't sure which broth to choose so i stired around the bowl of noodles, there was meat in it. Called back and the restaurant did nothing to right the situation. Side note for vegetarians, the spring rolls appeared to have meat in them as well.

Usually hole in the walls offer you great authentic flavours, but I was quite impressed. I was a bit skeptical of Pho Hung because I thought it probably is just going to be ok because it looks quite pretty. I was wrong. The inside is quite pretty and modern, but the food was great! Our party was quite big, but we ordered a bunch of stuff and tried each other's items. We had pho dac biet (house special), spring rolls, salad rolls, grilled pork on rice and an assortment of banh mi. Each dish was very tasty. Their banh mi though, was our favorite! It's crispy yet tasted buttery, the protein was flavourful, the picked radish tasted fresh, and the pate and mayo was just in perfect amounts. We were all very happy and will be coming back again soon!

Food was nothing to write home about. Service was ok.

Beware: The Halo halo has nuts. Nowhere does it say it does and the waitress didn’t mention it.

Real Halo halo does not have nuts.

Fairly decent place. Their regular pho is rather light but on the plus side it's not an MSG overload. The noodles can be a tad bit firm at times but I find this a common problem with many pho places I've been to. I love their Bun Bo Hue though, it's quite spicy and shrimpy compared to some other locations, though it is a bit lacking in the portion of meat. I recall back in the day it used to come with pork meatballs in addition to vietnamese ham and beef slices, now it just has the latter two items.

I tried this place on a recommendation. I've since found out that the person who recommended this place was related to the owners. That really starts to explain a few things. There was really nothing outstanding about this place. The Pho broth was mediocre but at least it didn't taste like T&T canned chicken stock. Portions were fairly generous, but when you're not that impressed in the first place, that doesn't help. This place is OK, just don't go out of your way to get here.

A waste of your time and money. Ive been growing up eating pho my whole life and this place was one of the worse i have ever experienced. I ordered a simple beef noodle soup in which they can't even make it right. The bowl they gave me was super cold. My noodles were fully expanded and there was barely any broth left. Not to mentioned that the broth they had weren't even beef but chicken can broth. I could tell because not only I have ate at many different pho restaurant but I can also cook my own too. I complained to them that it was cold and it was pretty obvious but instead they told me that I drink the soup. Excuse me! how in the world do i drink a large bowl of beef noodle soup within 5 mins. If that was hot i guarantee you its difficult to drink under 5 mins. After I complained and they coming up with all these bizarre excuses, the manager told me and I quote "get out! and don't come back anymore!" He made me pay for my meal that i didn't even touch and band me from every coming back. This is one of the worse experience ever. They should just be on the show kitchen nightmares because they seriously need help.

Good food But if you're you.... Good food
But if you're young, the man there will be very cold. He's not a fan of young adults or teens. Bring a family and he's all smiles. Just a warning

Homebase. Good food. Even better service. I grew up here and never refused an offer to sit down here. They've got everything you'd expect and a couple things other places will never have. Try the crispy fried chicken bits.

Tried the Vermicelli Bowl?. I looked on the menu and I ordered #30 (chicken and minced pork on rice) and substituted it for vermicelli. It was delicious to say the least. I've always gone to Vietnamese restaurants and tried many other dishes than just the plain noodle soup bowls (pho). For those who only come to Vietnamese restaurants to order pho, you're missing out on the jewels of the culture.

Their appy dish of chubby chicken is quite good. Dash some pepper on it.

The service was quick and friendly. From time to time, they do seem a bit understaffed when it's packed. Considering it is packed from time to time say that much.

I'll post a photo next time I'm through there.
Happy eating everyone.

Not Good. I am a sucker for "Best in ___" type claims. A fellow Urban Spooner suggested that this is: "the best noodle soup in B.C." I knew that was likely a bit of hyperbole but I thought it would at least safely qualify as decent. I was wrong. Pretty much from the moment I sat down at the unwiped table, I was wondering if maybe there was another Pho place in this small strip mall and I had landed in the other one. Bland broth, miserly portion of meat, no basil and lemon rather than lime. I am not going to claim that it is the worst Pho in B.C. But I am willing to say confidently that it is closer to worst than best.

You will never pass by this restaurant if you don't live in the area, and hence would never discover how good it is. Fortunately I do live in the area, and it's within walking distance. After moving here for more than 5 month, I finally tried out my local
