The food and the sushi is good, as well as the set up of the restaurant. However, I am not a big fan of their menu layout or their options/combos. Additionally, the service is mediocre. I had many experiences where I was just seated, and then left alone. I had to get up and ask to get tea and place my order in....
I've been to a lot of sushi restaurants in the lower mainland and this is definitely one of my favourite! The food is fresh and it tastes so good! I've been to some restaurants where the rolls are cut sloppy but Kami has experienced chefs who can cut the rolls clean. Every single time I come here, the service is always good too. They never seem to fail to say hi and always smile. The manager, Julie, is such a dear. She always tries to ask about our experience when we dine in and really seems to care for the customers. Will definitely come back!
This place is DELICIOUS! The power roll and negitaro could not have been any fresher! Delta and Surrey really needed to step it up in the Japanese cuisine department and Kami Sushi really knocked it out of the park tonight. I am especially pleased with the service. They came by my table many times to check on us and to refill our cups.
Having tried many dozens of Japanese/Sushi restaurants all over the Lower Mainland over the past 30+ years, I do not hesitate to state that Kami is among the top 3 in the entire area. Always very FRESH ingredients - both the fish & veggies. Large portions & very reasonable a prices. The cooked food is also excellent but the sushi & sashimi is simply the best. No 1 in Surrey for sure. The manager Michelle is very attentive & engaging - a step above the otherwise average though friendly service from the rest of the staff.
Great, fresh fish at very reasonable prices. I ordered gomaee, appetizer sashimi and a spicy tuna roll for a total of $15. The roll had a lot of fish and a relatively thin layer of rice. Perfect! Much better than Akari.
This restaurant is the best. Service is amazing. Friendly staff, and great food! Reasonable prices, too. Hopefully, they will maintain the standard.
Amazing! Huge Japanese fusion lover! This place is one of the best!
Food is good. The restaurant is beautiful. Not the typical Japanese restaurant decor. No crabs on the wall. The prices are great. The only thing this restaurant owner seems to "Really" pay attention to is the service. The servers are very nice and welcoming but seem a little lost, as amongst other things they sometimes even forgot to ask or bring water. Dessert would be another place I think that needs a little more attention.
Scott Road Haunts. Being in this area for quite some time time, I've found the food options to be lacking when you enjoy a good meal.
As for Japanese-Fusion Style, this is a refreshingly new restaurant that has it's act together. Great ambiance and friendly service make this a choice spot for a quick bite or a date night with your sweetie.
It is by far the best Japanese Food along the Scott Road corridor and probably in my top three for the area all food types included.
I enjoy true Japanese food - the rolls, the sashimi and maki - and Kami delivers. Not only is the fish FRESH FRESH FRESH, but the portions are large enough to fill you up and have leftovers!!!!
I haven't had the cooked foods yet, nor Have i ventured into the fusion world - but that is next.
It is a new restaurant with a winning combination... now le's hope the honeymoon never ends and they keep on course - then they will have a good business for many years to come.
Yummy stamp of approval. I tried this restaurant for the first time yesterday with my hubby and am pleased to say we both had a great time! I ordered two rolls - the salmon roll and the 'real' crab roll. Salmon was delicious but I didn't enjoy the crab one as much since it was shredded crabmeat. My husband doesn't like sushi so he ordered the beef teriyaki and it was absolutely delicious! The portion was great too. The only thing I can think of to complain about was that the servers didn't automatically refill my tea - I had to ask them to do that. But they were really friendly so I can forgive them for that :) I have tried Akari as well which is across the street and Minori which is on 112th in Delta and I liked this place better than both. All in all, it gets Panda's yummy stamp of approval!
Large Rolls for Sharing. Been here twice and twice the cooked food was probably what I wouldn't order again.
Cooked Food: LA Galbi - more sauce than I anticipated and not as thinly sliced as other restaurants. Very tasty but at $13, I'd rather get another roll; Mary Kim: good choice if you can't eat anything raw but a tempura appetizer is tastier; Beef Yaki Soba: I don't like udon noodles and they don't serve ramen so this was a good option. The serving was big enough that I took some togo. I don't have any complaints about it but clearly this place is known for their rolls.
Uncooked Food (sushi, rolls): Sockeye salmon sashimi & Sockeye salmon maki: my 9yr old is a purest and this is all she orders. She also doesn't like Atlantic salmon. At under $3 for a Sockeye salmon maki, it was very well priced and tasty; Golden Roll: the deep fried flakes along the sides are highly addictive, like potato chips. Would get this again; Power Roll: the photo on their menu doesn't show they drizzle sauce over it. Found the sauce too much - if ordered again, I'd get it with sauce on the side; Negitoro: not your typical type. I think they mix it with something like soy sauce hence it's darker appearance. Wasn't a fan of the mayo type sauce and I prefer the traditional version which has more flavour from the green onions; Rainbow Roll: your standard like you'd get anywhere. Would get it again.
My husband and I had 4 rolls plus the LA Galbi between us to share. We had leftovers and we could have done without the Galbi. This place is great for roll sharing - there's many to choose from...unfortunately many have cream cheese and/or cooked meat in them.
Interior is very nice - it's practically new since this used to be Carlton Cards. When they're busy, service can be slow ( asked 3 times for tea) but they are friendly and you can tell they're doing their best to serve everyone as fast as they can.
I'll be coming back.
Ive been coming here for a few years now. The quality of every dish has always been consistently amazing. I prefer the sushi here to other dishes. The service is always on point and the staff are always friendly even if they are very busy. They take all safety precautions as well when it comes to covid. I will always recommend this place to anyone who asks where is the best sushi in surrey.
My favourite sushi place in Surrey. I know my sushi as I grew up in Richmond. The food is great and service is also exceptional. Super nice people. Must try are the Victoria Roll, Sashimi, Spicy Agedashi Tofu, Gomae and most of their specialty rolls are delicious.
Ordered a deep friend spicy tuna roll to go and this is what I got…
Looks like some small child’s leftovers. It was cold and disgusting 10/10 do NOT recommend.
My food also stinks. 0 stars
First time visiting this restaurant, i love eating sushi but there udon was also good
Well-priced and decent sushi in the area. We ordered the Mary Kim (battered, deep-fried salmon and asparagus), and Spicy Love Roll, the Golden Roll, and two Dynamite and California combos. All our items were really tasty and I love how "jumbo" the dynamite and california rolls were. Would definitely come back if we're in the area again.
